choose your own adventure (asylum)

(i got an idea for this from one o our innmates. I hope it works out! This is also my first time attempting this, so, feel free to send hate mail as well :-p)

Heres how this works. I tell part o the tale, and end it with a set of options, which you can select by PMing me the option you think is best. I will tally the total after an amount of time. Then proceed with the next section! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

This adventure is set during quasi-d+d times. SO no cars or machines. But there is an advanced form of government and medical practice.

The Asylum

Tylons Ward: Day 1 of the takeover.

Your eyes open, around you is the exam room. Where the priests and healers could watch over certain patients. To study them, to try to understand them to fix they're afflictions. These afflictions ranged from dementia, to full blown psychosis. Gazing around the darkened room nable to register any item or location, you stand, and fumble for balance. Shaking your head trying to clear the cobwebs you start to remember why...

As a level one examiner. A rookie in the proffession, you had been selected more of an observer to the other healers and learn from them. It seemed an easy task, watching as they observed the other patients. Occasionally marking notes, seemed pretty status-quo. The patients though were not always the normal multi-personality, or rage filled maniac.

Some patients were odd in size, shape, some were barely even human-like. The actions differed radically almost from one to another. Some would sit quietly and stare, as if examining an invisible being. Others talked, seemingly to nothing. The more radical patients sometimes charged walls, causing the stone foundations to shake, and send shivers down your spine.

This day was like every other, you were observing a patient, healer Morose, and Observer Ria were your "teachers" per se. The patient was a criminal, who had been an arsonist. His trademark fault was pure psychosis. He always babbled words of fire, pain, torment. You had no idea, HE would be the least of yor worries.

Suddenly Ria spoke, turned to you.

"Examiner Kael, lock the door, there is an emergency." She spoke in earnest, a way that scares you, this was a rarity that an emergency especially for examiners and doctors. We called for a guard via a sending spell. To try to release the patient back to it's cell. Then the worst part, the wait.

Finally the door in the examed room opened, but no gaurd came in, after a gaze around the room, the patient darted out, thats when Ria and Morose ushered you to the corner, and began to lock the door.

It happened. The door burst open, and a figure monstrous in size, almost hurled the door open, as it almost exploded inside it knocked Ria to the floor. The grotesque creature with barely human-like features with a bloodied spike for a hand rammed it into Morose, who was helpless. Dispatching of the now dead morose, it approached you, as a poorly experienced examiner, it took little effort to slam the other non-spiked hand into you to send you flying into the other side of the room. Knocking you unconcious....

The room is dark. The smell is of death, and the door is open, on your person is nothing more then a set of stained white robes. Around the room is a door broken and on top of a fallen Ria, a table, a set of ink quills, a book. The glass overlooking the solice room is shattered. A light spell seems to still flicker occasionally outside in the hallway which goes south and north.

What do you wish to do?

1. Gather items from the room to take with you. You may need them.
2. Try to pull the door off of Ria, to see any possibility of help, or further items.
3. Exit the room immediately (path will go north and south select a direction in PM)

par deux

You run to Ria, using every bit of strength you have you push the door off her. She coughs up a bit of blood and looks to you, her eyes seem fading.

“Kael…” she reaches into her robes and offers an item, a small journal. “It’s what I’ve documented of all the vile beings here, as well as my badge. You can escape with this, run… Get out of here, as soon… As you can…”

Her eyes go blank, as life seeps from her. Mournfully you take the journal, but you know theres not much time. Luckily the front has a brief diagram of the ward, you recall just north is the doctors ward, where all clerics and healers rest when not on duty, and further exam rooms, and the steel door to the north, leading to further sections of the prison. South is further exam rooms, the lab where you concoct several antidotes and experiments to try to fix the ailments of the inmates. At the very south is the chamber where the head warden resides.

Gathering your courage you stand. Then look out the door, the light spell flickers, but there seems to be only a light creaking, as if a door was swinging back and forth in the hall. As you peek outside as stealthily as you can manage, you see no immediate threats. Though it is hard to see. The door to the north seems open, as if forced. The other exam room doors can not be seen from this angle. The main chamber seems closed, but the lab door is the source of the creak as it slightly swings back and forth.

At first glance this is all you can see….

Go to where?

1. North through the door, maybe there is an exit that way.
2. To the lab, there may be someone or something useful in there.
3. The exam rooms, find out more information perhaps on the area.
4. The main chamber. Perhaps Tylon can help
5. Go to the doctors ward, perhaps they have some items or some survivors to help
