Quick shot

I will post for Trossach today I hope.

I have a solid background post written, it just needs a few tweeks.

Action for the attack will be simple - run up, use bow (red arrows?) with two-handed sword stuck in the ground next to him to be ready. Wearing armor - needs to be named. Would aim at chief orc with an "orc slayer arrow"

Will post more details shortly as stated.

Sorry about the delay, the holidays have been amazingly busy.

No Problem on Delays!

It just worked out that I had the time in Ghana to move this story along!

Figured we may slow down for the holidays anyway!

Now I need a few days to recuperate from the trip!

Ideas??????

Here's my thought on this battle.
The Shaman casts entangle to the end of the clearing to slow down reinforcements. It covers a 50 foot circle. Being that the three trails converge at that end and the clearing is 40 foot wide it covers all three.

It goes 25 feet into the clearing to trip up some of the Ocrs.
It lasts for four rounds so that gives time to take out the first sixteen.
If we need more time the Shaman can also recast it two more times because of the wizards gift.

In between he uses his bow to take down Orcs.
Also I think we should let BloddGrinn take out the leader.
We just need to protect him.

So team, what'cha think?

A Half-Orcs Wisdom

Sounds like a good plan to me overall.

Under normal circumstances Trossach would take out the leader with one of his "orc-killer" arrows. One shot and the leader is down. As a warrior with some experience with battles he is not accustomed to letting a dangerous opponent stand just so one persons ego can be supported. Still, it is probably ok to do so in this one case.

Also, speaking of arrows - Trossach would have shared out the orc-killer arrows. He probably kept 8 and gave 6 to two different people. Who are the best choices to get them?

He would only use such magical arrows in a tricky spot or against leaders. (Thus he would normally shoot this leader.) In this fight he will use his god's magical red arrows. I think we can take the first 16 reasonably easily without resorting to the special arrows. Once the second wave comes - well, we will have to see what emerges after the tangle breaks.

I am tempted to have Trossach put his first magic arrow into the leader - I don't THINK an orc chieftan should be able to take out our faithful Dwarf, but I'd prefer to give him a boost. Doing so after the dwarf is injured and 100 more orcs pore into the clearing will be a bit harder. But I am open to suggestions on this.

Finally, Trossach would be inclined to yell at the gold crusaders as he runs past something like "archers who want a shot follow us. We set an ambush!" Again, thinking as a commander of troops, he is inclined to take advantage of whatever he has at his disposal. Victory, not style, is what matters.

Hammer Q

Hammer -
A question about the bow. When Trossach whispers the oath does it target a specific individual, or a type of creature. So, if he whispers "Death . . . " about one of these orcs, does it work on all of them, or just that one?

It is a bit of overkill for just one orc, but very useful the other way at them moment.

The attack....

I agree that taking out the leader is the usual strategy and one we will most likely use in the future. Here i felt the group wouldn't be able to stop BloddGrinn from rushing out o attack once the Orcs got closer. So we would need to support him. He's been the voice of the clan so let the story of the glory of the Crimson Clan, grow.

We do not know that BloddGrinn has set up an ambush so we couldn't got them to follow us, we'd have to go back and get them. They just think we're nuts to rush into the forest.

The arrows would most likely got to the Monk and Ranger, they are more the combat types. The Shaman will use magic to help create advantage when ever possible. He's an archer so he'll help.

BTW he won't use any fire arrows. He is forbidden from using fire weapons. He will attack any enemy using fire weapons first, no matter what the plan is and will be stressed when our group uses fire as a weapon.

Shoot Orc Leader

BluddGrinn will wait until the Orcs are almost upon him before he jumps out to attack them!

He is counting upon the others to cut them down with Arrows as a surprise attack before revealing his secluded place of hiding!

So Please go ahead and have Trossach fire a Slaying Arrow at the Sub Chief leading the charge!

Oath Bow

Targets a specific enemy group!

Make the Oath against the Orcs and they all must be eliminated before another Oath may be spoken 24 hours later!

A Barbarian requests some goods:

Weapons and armor for the barbarian - I'm just listing what he wants to have, not seperating what he came with from what he needs.

Chainmail armor
Greathelm (Can this be worn on top of the chainmail coif that comes with chain armor? If not, don't bother with the helm.)

Spear
Two handed Sword
dagger - 2
Handaxe -2
Arrows - 4 dozen
Bow - no longer needed with the oath bow gift.

Horse and tack
Climbing gear - of any sort available. Like this:
Grappling Hook
Rope- 300’ - best quality available
Pitons/spikes - 50
Hammer

Saw
Shovel
Whistle
Horn

Backpack
Bedroll- with winter blanket?
4 belt pouches
Basic clothing - Do you want specifics?
Canteen
Waterskin
Whetstone
Flint and steel
Candles (5)
Torches (12)
Bullseye lantern
Oilflask (10)
Fishing gear
Large Sacks (6) For whatever we find along the way

Map making tools:
Parchment (several sheets)
Quil
Ink
Waterproof scroll case
Map of the region – drawn ahead of time based on stories? (What do we have for this, we wouldn’t leave without something, would we?)

A pig - Trossach believes they should deal with the ogre first, if the group agrees he would like to bring with a peace offering. If they don't go for the ogre first, this won't be an issue. Besides, who doesn't take a pig on an adventure?

Food - it looked like was taken care of by others - plus the ring of sustenance.

Tents -I think someone else requested.

The others?

I do hope the others are still around. The action seems to be about ready to get rolling.

Shaman Ring

Hey Ody

The Shaman Ring is for 2nd level spells not 1st level which the Entangle is a level 1 spell.

Swarm or Cure Serious Wounds are 2nd level spells.

Entangle also lasts for 4 turns not 4 rounds (6 rounds per turn!)

Hmmmm............

Ok, thanks. I interpreted it as all spells through 2 level.

And my bad, I should have said turn, not round.(one turn per level.)

so is Cure Serious Wounds now a level 2 in the PH Printing 4?
It is a level 3 in my 2nd Printing PH.

Are you able to spdf the spell section of Printing 4 and make it available?

1550

Forgive my Jet Lag recollections of spell levels Odyson!

It is actually Cure Light Wounds (Cure Serious Wounds is level 4 in C&C)

And the Ring is ONLY for Level 2 spells!

By the way this is my 1,550 post at the Inn!

Spell Listings

I am just going to go by the book so as not to lose track of what levels the spells are in our adventure!

Because you have a Deity you still get an extra spell for each level that you progress on the spell chart for Druids!
