Character Sheet: Sonia

Character Name: Sonia
Player Name: Jing
Class/es: Assassin/ranged sneak fighter
Karma:
Gear: Five small throwing knives (kinda kunai-like)
Face scarf (cowl-like)

Background: As far as Sonia knows, he’s an orphan. A small young man, he’s always been a little wiry, and his ice blue eyes have never missed a beat. He’s spent his time wandering what is left of his home, wondering how long it will take for everyone to die. Often, he’s thought about trying to find a way out, but never managed to make it that far. He’s spent most of his days practicing knife throwing, using fallen beams and broken doors as targets. It was his main way of combating hunger, just don’t think about it. Being about seventeen years of age, Sonia has had just a little romance. He thought he fell in love once, but when said lover died of starvation, Sonia figured that maybe he just shouldn’t try again. What was the point if they all died on him anyhow? He fed himself that day, and cried himself to sleep that night.

During the times when people would go mad with the cold and hunger, attacking others for a chance at food, Sonia defended the weaker ones who could do nothing themselves, either being too young or sickly. Let them die naturally, he figured, don’t be a murderer just because your stomach is threatening to eat itself.

Sonia wanders the streets, finding and scavenging dead bodies, keeping his face and jet black hair hidden with the dark purple scarf that was once his lover's. He keeps it to remind himself not to fall in love again, and to protect anyone he can, any way he can.

Character Sheet: Razor

Character Name: Razor
Player Name: Clockwork Demise
Class: Warlock-Avenger
Karma:
Gear: Long dusty black cloak
Two scimitars
Gloves and boots

Backstory: Razor was not born in the city, where he came from, none know, save that one day he walked in to the town, took residence in an abandoned house (its previous inhabitants having been deceased) and waited.
No-one had the breath to waste to ask him what buisness he had, none cared much, perhaps just enough to pity a man who had trecked through a desert only to find a barren oasis.
Whatever the case, Razor seems drawn to suffering, always being one of the first to the scene when a new mortality occurs.

Character Sheet: Arathyra

Character Name: Arathyra Wolfswift
Player Name: Cdnflirt
Class: Wizard/Ranger
Karma: 2

Gear: Carved Staff

Background: Arathyra Wolfswift was the apprentice of the well-known wizard, Alan Morind. The man had saved her life, and she owed it to him to always do her best in her studies with him. She looked up to the man as if he were her own father, for he had been the only parent she knew since her birth.
Alan had been working late one night in his alchemy lab when he heard somebody ring his bell. He had gone downstairs only to find a baby wrapped up tight in leaves in the cold. Quickly picking the child up and looking around to see who might have left the child for him to find, and then retreating back into the warmth of the laboratory. The man had never had children, had in fact never found the time away from his life dedication to even find himself a woman, but nobody would imagine that in the gentle way he treated the baby in his arms. Alan Morind had from that day, named the child, and taken care of her in the best way he could. The old man also noticed the way she watched him in his alchemy lab, with hungry eyes, eagerly studying everything he was doing and was quick to mimic it.
As the years passed he began teaching her the means of spellcasting, and of the wizard knowledge he had been studying. Arathyra was quite gifted and was quick to learn in most of the areas of the studies he provided to her.
Her curiosity had proven costly: once, when she was working in the alchemy lab, disaster struck. She had accidentaly added the ingredients in the wrong order causing an explosion that sent her flying against a wall into unconsciousness.

Character Sheet: Xavier

Character Name: Xavier te'Shea
Player Name: gboy
Class: Nomad
Karma: 2

Gear: Horn Bow
Arrows
Dagger
Simple locket w/ picture of sister inside.

History: Xavier had always known what he was to do since he was born. He was born in a small township in the desert, secluded in a valley. His father had left and wandered the wastes when Xavier was just a small child, telling him to protect his mother, and twin sister. Not long after that, a heatwave struck, and Xavier's mother, already in a damaged state, succumbed to the heat. Xavier couldn't believe he had failed his father already. His sister, on the other hand, would be a different story. Xavier himself would die before he let anything foul befall his sister. This he promised himself, and it was something he would carry out for the rest of his life.

However, Xavier's sister had always had a tendency to have very vivid dreams. They often woke her in the night, sometimes violently, which would make Xavier jump looking for the source of the disturbance. One morning however, Xavier awoke and his sister was not in her bed, simply a scrawled note:

Xavier,
You couldn't help your mother, you couldn't help your sister. But that's okay. You won't have to tell your father. He isn't coming back anyway.

The note was scrawled in a hand Xavier had never seen before, but immediately, it led him to panic. He searched his home for any sign of struggle, or any evidence of his sister. He ran outside to see if anyone had seen anything only to find his town devoid of human life. It was as if everyone had gotten up and left. Hung on the fence were few of his father's possessions; his bow and quiver, and a slender silver dagger. Also pinned in place was a small locket, which Xavier opened up, only to see a picture of his sister inside it. Tears began to fall from his eyes as he began over thinking the situation, who could've done this, what happened to his father, what he was going to do now... He fell to his knees holding the locket in front of his father's equipment.

As though to break him out of his torment, a sound reached his ears, as hoofs hit the ground in a galloping fashion. A whinnying horse rounded the corner, it's rider slumped in what looked to be an incredibly uncomfortable position. As the horse closed the distance to Xavier, the rider slumped off his horse, arrows in his back. The horse, free of it's rider, calmed down, though still pranced nervously about, obviously bothered by something. Xavier figured there was nothing left for him in this secluded town, and that he needed to get away... Far away. Maybe somewhere else held the secrets to this mystery... And had his sister. But he would never know until he saddled up, and took off. So he grabbed his father's gear, and rode out into the wasteland, not knowing where he was going, but knowing what he wanted...

That was 10 years ago. He now lived in a place that was more forsaken, being struck by poverty, famine, and drought. When he'd arrived, he saw the voracious looks his horse was receiving, and so he turned back, returned on foot, and acquired a shack of a house... Just like home. Then, in the secrecy of the night, he snuck his horse in to the building. Digging a hole for the waste was not pleasant, though it had to be done. Having to share some of his food with his horse to keep it alive was leading him to become even more slender and gaunt than the others, and despite how much it was starting to take a toll on his body, he knew he needed to have the horse ready. They weren't in a situation to take off right away, but it was a start.

There were people here. And where there were people, there were bound to be answers... Somewhere. In the meantime though, he needed to fulfill as much of a promise to his father as he could... He may not have been able to protect the women in his life, but he could at least protect the women around him now. With his father's bow and dagger in hand, and the locket around his neck, Xavier would find the answers... He had to. And so he climbed walls, leapt over obstacles, and worked out so to remain physically fit - though lean - and set up a small barrel behind his house to practice his archery so that when the time came, he would be ready.

Character Sheet: Bren

Character Name: Bren Asera
Player Name: Tuned_Out
Class: Swordsage
Karma: 2

Gear: Sturdy boots
Fairly ragged clothing
Weathered amulet
Two throwing daggers
Scimitar

Background: Bren had been born among mountains. An alcove overlooking the wasteland had been the home of his youth. The few families that lived there had worked together to survive, but there were often periods of starvation and weakness. It was not an easy youth, one that forces a person to grow up fast.

There were those skilled at hunting and foraging (for fungi) who would search vainly for food, and it was these people who kept them alive. They would search in the early morning and again in the evening to escape the worst of the sun's heat. His parents were such hunters, and he was proud to be theirs. But as is already known, in this time youth ends quickly.

There were times with individuals, and sometimes groups, left to seek a better life. They would pack their belongings and never return- lost to he waste. Or so it was thought. When Bren was still just a boy one returned. Carin, recognizable by scar gained in his youth, who had left five years before ran into the alcove shouting of pursuers. Within seconds the open cavern was swarmed with dark, unidentifiable figures. The began to attack and drag people away. His father was cut down in the initial surge, but his mother managed to reach him before they were surrounded, save for the open drop of the mountainside. Seeing no other option she grabbed Bren and moved over the edge, attempting to get down its rough side. Such actions caused her great injury, and unable to travel far they sought shelter in a nearby nook in the mountain base.

By complete fluke a swordsman had sought refuge there a well, and in further good fortune he was willing to help them. However, a grim look crossed his face when he saw the mother's wounds and sure enough she did not last the night. With her dying breath she gave Bren her amulet and spoke of her love for him.

That was twenty years ago. For the following decade and a half he trained under his mentor-by-chance, learning to use his body and a blade as one. The wasteland was a harsh training-ground, but the seasoned warrior taught the youth all he knew of how to survive. To find food, to defend himself, and most importantly to seek shelter; all a gift from his kind teacher. But nothing lasts forever.

In a severe storm they were ambushed by creatures and in the chaos of the fight they were separated. The intensity of the storm forced Bren to find shelter, and when he returned to the scene he found no evidence for the life or death of his mentor. He has searched these last five years, but to no avail.
