huh?

Wait why did it boil down to Krii/Nich solely deciding it?

Trapdoor Spider Loot

The thick webbing on the sides of the shaft make it a simple matter for anyone (except Krii at the moment) to climb down. The spider has apparently not cleaned out the bodies in her lair in the last week, and so her desiccated meals remain at the bottom of the shaft--mostly a couple animals, but notably including one dead bandit. Whoever goes down the shaft gives the body a once-over. He's not carrying much of value on his person, but he does have another of those stag skull amulets that seem to denote those in ranking positions in the Stag Lord's little army of bandits. Well, at least Happs-important.

-Short Sword
-Stag Lord Amulet
-Not going to list leather armour unless the searcher really feels like undressing the body of a guy whose innards have been liquified and sucked out of his body.
-10G

Just before the searcher climbs back up, though, they notice a slip of paper sticking out of the man's boot. Clearly anything worth hiding in a boot was worth a look. Sure enough on the slip was written "Loot here. Tell no one. This should be enough for us to leave the Stag Lord--together."

Evidently from (or to) the man's lover, the back bears a crude drawing of a claw-shaped dead tree on a barren hill, with an "X" in blood at the tree's roots. There is no indication how near or far the bandit may have been to the hidden cache, but having mapped the entire area of the spider's region, you know there are no claw-shaped trees to be found on barren hillsides in the immediate area.

-Crude Treasure Map

Lanterns in the wilderness?

I am wondering: does anybody know even the slightest glimmering of what a Will'o'whisp is amoungst our group?

I mean, I would suppose that we wouldn't know that they are abberations that feed off fear and are immune to magic, but probably more along the lines of words from huntsman, trackers, commoners, or perhaps even Oleg, Svetlana, or one of our other more connected NPCs?

"The Will'O'Whisp is a floating light that lead travellers into deadly situations. They are OBVIOUSLY ghosts that have died in the areas they haunt. So if you see a distant light like that of a lantern, stay away from it!"

Jack o' the Lantern folklore

Hehe, I probably didn't need to keep researching for so long to answer this one, but just try to stop me from reading s***.

Anyway, no one possesses Knowledge (dungeoneering), so concrete information on aberrations is alien to you (beyond a basic knowledge DC 10), but in terms of rumour, folklore, and common knowledge you do have some info.

The bestiary entry for Will o' the Wisps states:

"Every trapper and bog farmer living near marshes or swamps has his own name for these faintly glowing balls of light—jack o' the lanterns, corpse candles, walking fires, pine lights, spooklights, rushlights—but all recognize them as dangerous predators and false guides in the darkness."
The nearest swampland, the Hooktongue Slough, is actually not too far away to the east, though the nearest form of civilization lies in Rostland to the north. Nevertheless, trappers who frequent the Stolen Lands occasionally bring back stories from the region of floating witchlights capable of mimicking lanterns, which lead lost travelers into danger if followed.

It may also be worth noting that Kyrie does hear two voices--the crying child and the woman.

Btw

I will update later, but outside of tricky fry and sinister undead, Frodrick would also point out that it could also easily be a bandit. He will agree that it COULD be someone in actual need of help, but given they are in the stolen lands and in a fog, the group cannot give the benefit of the doubt. There is just too much at risk.

A Quickie

So for next round of combat:
-Free Action: Call Jargon Hooves to Aid Another (AC) for Miguel (Jargon may or may not be able to do that this round).
-Swift Action: Challenge Monster to give everyone +1 attack.
-Move Action: 5 ft step to try and flank/make my way to flanking.
-Standard Action: Attack defensivley with battle axe.

Can Frodrick reasonbly say they are still in battle?

So I was wondering if Frodrick knew what was going on with this whole Gaseous Form bussiness. I personally know very little about the spell and how it works because I have never used it before as a DM or otherwise (that I can remember anyways).

1 - Can Frodrick see the gaseous form? I mean, we are in a mist/fog in the middle of the night. He has dark vision, but can he see that this gaseous form creature is different from the mist?

2 - Does Frodrick know that the creature is still around? Even if Frodrick can tell that the gaseous form is there, perhaps Frodrick is believeing the thing is going back to hell (which he had declared earlier). It wouldn't be too farfetched to think that the thing died, evaporated, and is now going back toa different plane of existence (kinda like how demons die theatrically).

3 - Does Frodrick know that he can attack it in this present state? Logically speaking, even if Frodrick could see the creature in its new form, and knew that it was still able to chose between fight or flight (literally), Frodrick would assume he could not attack a mist and hurt it.

I do not really want to make a post until I know what Frodrick knows, sees, believes. My personal hunch is to follow #2 - he sees, but thinks its defeated since it spazed before changing. Then perhaps #3 if #2 is false.

Could you give me some insight as to what Frodrick might be processing? If you believe I have a good handle on the above, I will make a post that is linked to number 2.

By-the-by, the feat I reffered to in the title of my last post is Valiant Steed. I was considering taking it before, but now I want it even more. This way it will be possible/easier to get Jargon Hooves to join in fights or be within an area of unatural aura creatures (like wraiths and w/e this thing is called).

Suggested course

Finish up B1, then go to C1 then D1. Go up north C2, then B2. If things are going well we can hit B3 before getting abck to Oleg's.

Filth Fever 2.0

So Frodrick is willing to help kyrie in any way possible:
-He can giver her his bed roll and tent so she can sleep it off (I know someone else has a blanket... could she use that too)? This MAY be considered an aid another attempt in regards to a heal check. DM's Disgression.
-He is willing to see what he can do about salvaging healing herbs in this area - though it is late winter/early spring so there is little likelyhood of finding anything useful.
-We can get her in the bed roll and she can sleep in the cart - we could head back to Oleg's. We got a cleric who might be able to rid her body of the disease, so that may be the best course of action.

I was informed last night from Sib that it is common knowledge what filth fever looks like and this shows all the symptoms of it (aside from a festering wound) (this was stated in the post, but I didnt erally fathom it until we spoke). He also said that most people die from this diesease if it is left un attended. Frodrick, being the Code of Dragon type, will want to help Kyrie as much as he can. He does not want to put her health or life at risk.

Disease may not be the most intense thing as far as a Pathfinder mechanic is concerned, but we should take it very seriously as characters. Think of it this way:
1) Lets say Filth Fever has a DC of 12, and you need two consecutive saves in order to cure yourself. Common peeps have between -1 and +1 (so lets say 0). That means a common person, unattended, will need a 12 to save. That means 55% chance to save, or 45% fail.
2) So 45% fail their first save. No sweat right? not really. The odds stack against them as they take Con damage, lowering their Con (or increasing the DC) by 0-2 (I dont have the stats on me, but I think its 1d4 Con). SO at the best they have another 45% chance of failure, at worst a 55% chance of failure.
3) I am not going to continue with the math, but assuming the average person cannot get the wound attended, you are looking at a higher and higher chance of death. Lets just throw a average death toll of 15%. That might not seem huge, but considering the all dreadful and historically appauling Black Death killed 33% of a Europe's population, this is pretty intense.

This is why I am now stating in Q&A that perhaps our characters should take this seriously.

Furthermore: all we know is that Kyrie DOES have the fever. We do not yet know if anyone else has contracted it! Thinking in the terms of averages, taht means that if 3-4 of us have contracted it, one of us has a half decent chance of dying if left unattended.

The Tactics of Aid Another

So I was thinking:
If Jargon Hooves and Frodrick Aid Another on the same ally, can they buff a stat each (AC and Attack)?

If so, can we have it so that Frodrick will do an Aid Another and declare what he is giving as a bonus, and presuming that Jargon is doing the same person will automatically do the opposite of Frodrick?

Shiz is going to get real if both can aid in different combat stats... especially when Frodrick gets his +3 Aid Another!

Edit: Nevermind! I just found out that Aid Another stacks... that means both can add to a character's AC or attacvk... THat will be +5 in some cases!

I've seen this word before, but I always forget what it means

*Googles 'tinnitus'* Haha, well I don't know about everyone else, but I tend to get hard to reach for most of the day during my birthday. Other than that, family visiting means you don't spend as much time on the computer (assuming you don't want to look rude, so I suppose it depends on the family).

Other than that, feel free to shout profanities to fill the void. Oh yeah, and about some form of prompt, I would have no idea where to begin even about something like that. Whenever I actively attempt to prompt it usually goes at least partially ignored and I happen to be without ideas for inventing more character interaction right now.

This is only really supposed to be a short stop back home, but I suppose it'll take most of a week for Kyrie to heal naturally (since, according to previous prompt, no one is going to seek magical healing for her). Other than that we need a course of action (I know we're going to the hills... which is well and great, but that is barely more than a direction to go in, not a matter of 'let's go in this direction take these few, come back before our food runs out, etc.)

Granted I suppose I do know the first place to visit (depending on the accuracy of your map) so I'll probably start making a post on that venture... you know when I'm not working or visiting over the next few days.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and since most people tend to get their Q&A questions answered on Skype, I practically forget this thread exists except to update the first page rarely (which you'll notice I did after your last post, there) and whenever I suddenly realize (however many days/weeks/months late) that you've made another post in here about something.
