a revision...

I agree with most of what Eol is saying, but do note that the Captain Blair has standing orders that there always be both a science officer and a security officer on the bridge.

This is partially due to game concerns; this allows those department head players a reason to be in the "middle of the action", so to speak.

However, it's also for practical reasons - the Discovery is largely tasked to science-related roles, Blair has a science background, and it's nice to have situations like where Lieutenant Lieran was able to see for herself what was going on and come up with other scans. Harder to do this with second hand info.

Likewise, the Discovery has had attackers beamed directly to the bridge before, an Blair has lost a commanding officer himself; he believes that it makes sense to always have a security represenative on the bridge.

This can be a junior offier; if John were to lead a team to repel boarders, it would make perfect sense (he's presumably the most qualified for the task). However, it also makes sense if he wants to manage those teams from a central location.

Cuz I'm the Captain and I said so...

...is justification enough for me.

As I said, entirely possible that there is/was a security officer on the bridge at the time, just kind of giving Ody an idea of why TAC would've relayed the info to Security as opposed to the presumed security officer on the bridge (perhaps said security officer was in the head or otherwise indisposed... maybe he/she didn't beat Mac to the draw... whatever... ).

In the earlier runs, Tuvar was on the bridge fairly frequently, of course, but often preferred to operate out of Main Security... which, in itself, doesn't mean that there wasn't a security presence on the bridge... just kind of went with 'what Mac's grown accustomed to' as far as flinging orders around.

I'm working on my post now that I've managed to catch up on some much needed sleep. Sorry for it being delayed!

Sometimes I scare me!

Just found a bunch of Discovery TAC stuff from missions gone by... Hooooly crap am I a geek!!!

Right now, I'm looking at an Excel file that's got no less than 12 sheets, labelled as follows:

  • TAC Senior Staff
  • TAC Support
  • A-1 - staff for the Alpha shift
  • B-1 - Staff for the beta shift
  • C-1 - you get the idea
  • D-1
  • Duty Roster - detailed shift breakdown by day of the week
  • Full Roster - every damn position in TAC is listed
  • SEC Senior Staff
  • and the A-1 thru D-1 sheets, etc, are all there for SEC, as well.

Like I said... Big. Friggin'. Dork.

Pop quiz: Who's the TAC liason for Engineering?

+1 to the first person that can tell me.

Actually...

...I think we stole Tier from Engineering somewhere along the line, didn't we? I've got him listed as a Security Officer on the sheet I'm looking at, now...

Petty Officer 1st Class Angel Asencio was the TAC Liason to Engineering at the time I put this together.

I'll get this stuff to you ASAP, boss.

Oh... and a simulation?!?!? If I could truly swear in Gaelic, laddy, I'd be doin' it!!!

AWESOME!!!

As much Discovery geeking as I do, I wouldn't not have guessed that if you had given me to the end of time.

Heh, glad you liked it.

I can see it now...

Mac's first blink took a bit longer to register in his brain than the Captain's announcement did. The second blink, though, registered immediately and was followed just as quickly with; "Yer a fargin' haggis an' a half, Cap'n Blair, sair!" The Scot shook his head and motioned for Soileau to reman TAC 1 and, chuckling, strode for the turbolift.

"Bloody fine, sim'lation, Cap'n," he said with a grin before the door whisked shut... "I need a fargin' coffee!"

Yeah...

...but not in front of the children, dear... We'll talk about this once they're all paddled and put to bed.

*wink*

Omg LOL

Kudos to Olan that's the one thing I was not expecting in the least.

Now I am not even sure how Leiran will react. On the one hand relief, on the other, disappointment at no new tech and science to be found right now? Hehe, I'll figure it out ...

Oh yes...

Zavaleta will certainly have a different outlook, once he wakes up. Likely a few choice words in mind for N'doog as well if he finds out the turbulance was him. Though, given how Zavaleta thinks, he may then ask N'doog to help plot another flight sim...

Scofield is likely unhappy, considering she can barely breathe, and poor Thorn is bewildered out of his mind
