I get twitchy...

...when 30 seconds or so in to the future is considered the "long term plan."

wha?

That's "long term"?

We're gonna die sooner than I thought.

sorry

What I meant was I only needed to know up to the point where your plan goes horribly south.

Plan

Sparrow's short term plan is "live til next round"

Hehe

Clarification question: The bodies thrown at the party are the elvin hunters? The OOC said under bombardment from dead bodies so does that mean the hunters are dead now?

Question

Are there sufficient anchor points (and, more importantly, I suppose, is there sufficient time) between the hunters bodies and the land-based party to cast a web spell. The intent here being to catch some/all/any of the hurtled hunters... If not, I'm thinking Jarenion will go ahead and cast feather fall (hopefuly catching at least one or two of the hunters in the AoE)and then go from there.

Edit: Good point, Keeper... if the hunters are now dead and it's pointless to try and still save any of them, I can think of better ways to expend mana.

clarify

Hunters are being thrown at the party by the tentacles. So they may not be dead right now, they soon will be hitting the ground at high speed.

Feather fall won't help. They are not falling, they are projectiles now.

You could use the pillars of the bridge and the ground for web but time will depend on initiative rolls and casting time.

thank goodness

I'm glad to have a better idea as to what out trap actually is. The suspense was awful!

Oh DM, live forever. I'm assuming that it is impossible to catch any of the falling victims?

Can ground combatants reach the tentacles?

suspension

Nothing is impossible! If you wish to attempt say, drop in levitation to move quickly and reactivate to save falling Hunter, I would give you a chance. If you fail then you miss and hunter goes splat. I would say that is hard (14 ON D20) with a dex bonus used.

Ground combatants can reach tentacles with missile weapons only at this point.

cool

This may be pushing it too far, but two more questions, please.

One - I'm assuming that the hunters have been hurled in a path that puts their trajectories at least somewhat close together. Is that correct?

Two - if #1 is correct, would it be possible for Arien to drop and deploy his portable hole in time to use as a makeshift net to possibly save more than one of them? If not, could he deploy the thing at all so as to give himself a better chance of catching at least one?

Yes, they will suffocate inside of it, but they have a full turn to do so. If it's possible to open the thing quickly enough, that's a way better chance to save at least one, if not more.

Hey, you said this game was high on fantasy and magic, low on realism. This is the stuff of bard songs.

Fire...

time to roast the cockroaches!

Can Kadrin try to catch a hurled elven hunter?

EDIT: I mean, really, how much can an elf weigh anyway?

.

Force = Mass x Velocity so even a light weight elf could have lots of force if moving fast.

Possible plan B

Just thinking that there is no real reason to battle the tentacles at this point. Why not just walk away?

Fight or flight

True... but we've seen that these things are capable of stretching quite a bit and, I get the sinking feeling that, if we tried to run, we'd be snatched up and subjected to all manner of unspeakable tentacle horrors.

I've seen some of that anime schoolgirl vs tentacle nastiness and lemme tell ya, you DO NOT wanna be subjected to that!!!
