well

I am sure that in reality it is not possible to catch a projectile in flight, this is a fantasy game so K could run and leap of the bridge to attempt to catch one. He'd probably take damage though.

You can try to walk away from the tentacles but you may ask yourself how did the bodies get up there in the first place if they couldn't reach down?

Anime tentacles! I wasn't even thinking about that Robert, until now ....

ick

Thanks a lot, Eol.

Oh DM, live forever! Thou didst not answer my query regarding the portable hole - can Arien possibly deploy it in time to use it as a makeshift net? Or will he need to just make an effort to catch an elf?

But, of course!

If I can't evoke disturbing imagery from time to time then, by the gods, I've failed the basics of illusion and hereby resign from magery!...

...wait... wouldn't be prudent to switch classes right now, would it?... Ummmm... I guess... I'll keep the magery and just forego the illusionist bit or something. *nods*

In all seriousness though, Olan, considering that those tentacles are coming directly after Arien and Lun, I think I'd pay mind to your own defense/counter attack and hope/trust that the ground-bound party might try and manage the point-eared projectiles... *shrugs* ... of course... Arien... Honor... all that good knightly stuff...

Portable Holes

I would say your chance of success catching an elf is better than to try and open up a portable hole and get it into a position to catch elves. Remember you don't have maneuverability with levitate.

okay

I figured as much, Roger... but it was worth asking.

I agree, Eol. A sensible person would leave the huntermissiles to their own fate and deal with the monsters first.

Arien has never been horribly sensible. Did you miss the silver screen stuff? Somebody needs help, and he has the power to offer it. He'll do so at the peril to his own life, and be glad for the chance. It's a nigh certainty that one day, it will get him killed.

Someday, in some afterlife, a former paladin is going to get an education. They might have been better at following the rules, but Arien gets it.

Arien

It's time to prove to your friends that you're worth a damn. Sometimes that means dying, sometimes it means catching a thrown elf while evil tentacles come at you all wanting to be your personal Proctologist.

Yep...

Hence the "... Arien... Honor... all that good knightly stuff..." at the end, there. I would truly expect nothing less from the good knight.

hmmm

Hey, I was checking the character thread, and realized that my armor entry is incomplete. I'm quite certain that Roger approved that Arien's plate has a +5 vs anal invasion attacks.

Eeeep!

You know I'm a "visual thinker," dude!

Now I'm gonna be tormented all day by images of exactly what that particular piece of plate might look like and/or be employed... oh... my mental stomach!

Edit: Dammit! Now I feel compelled to say something about creating a spell called sphincterus disappearicus.

Can't. Stop. YeeeeaaAAAAEERRRRRGHHH!

animate

Animate objects is a 9 seg casting time and the animated objects do not move very fast. You could do it but not sure it would benefit you much.'

For the record, I wasn't even thinking about anal invaders/tentacle sex before Robert said anything.

Ok Wow ahh just Wow

As a person who actually watches anime programs, and yes some Hentai, I have to warn everyone that tentacles can be very dangerous in oh so many ways. So we better not under estimate their deadliness or we could end up as the elves, or worse some Japanese Anime girl.

Also in ref to catching the tossed Elves with Maximus at 7' with a str of 18(00) and Ody at 6'6 with a str of 18. Would that not make it easy for them to catch them rt?

Oh before you all go nuts about what anime I watch, I watch Avengers Assemble, Star Wars Rebels, and yes Spider-Man.

none of which are anime actually

I have said that you can attempt to catch a elf if you want but you will have to roll for it and there is a chance you will take damage from the impact. You are basically trying to catch a body throw at high velocity over 80 feet.
