I had been waiting to post until we figured out a plan. I will get one up later today - Monday. I doubt Jarenion will do much - we are sort of waiting on the healing magic.

As a note - if the healing works Jarenion would very much like to destroy the last two winter wights. We get everyone ready with all of their best anti-undead magic and then drop the stone wall. This time we are prepared and we know when the wall is coming down. They don't. Hopefully we can blast them before they have a chance to do anything. I don't like the idea of leaving these things behind us. We don't know that they are tied to this hallway - they could very well follow after us just 10 minutes behind.

What I think I will do

Play this out tho the end with the rules I started with. No posts and players become possessed and attack party. Lets see where this goes.

I do remember that being said, but it would get ugly quickly. And based on a story in which this group is going to such an extreme to save one friend, I can hardly see us killing off other friends. So we would have to try and save them. Which, if your trying to get rid of them, wouldn't work. I hope there can be another plan.

A small suggestion

In seemlier situations in Trilogy I have instead of posting a general recruitment, have instead targeted specific Inn members with PM invitations to play in the game. Sometimes it has worked sometimes, like my last invite, it has not. If my personal invites are not successful then I post a general recruitment. We have had a recent influx of new people so maybe posting a general invite may be better.

It was an 8 man crew going in and we are down to 6 players (If I nag Olan a lot) which is a workable size. Losing the Bard and the Dwarven fighter will not diminish the chances of success much.

Suggestions

I'd suggest one of the following:

1) Just ignore the idle PCs. RL is no fun sometimes, but who can say if a player might come back. Just leave the PCs in the group, but pretend they are not there. If a player returns, just go back to pretending they've been there the whole time.

2) NPCs the PCs only slightly. Have either the DM or an active PC just post the game mechanics piece of the inactive PCs (i.e. what weapons, spells, etc they use)

An Idea

We lost our Dwarf fighter and that leaves us with Olan's Knight as our only true fighter, so here's my idea.

We drop Maximus's thief class, return him to a straight fighter/Gladiator lvl 15 and modify my thieves tools as such.

Thieves Tools of Silent Stealth These Thief tools do not look to be made of metal but some hard dark substance perhaps obsidian. While magical no means of detecting will reveal such. The tools grant the owner the same skills as that of a 10th lvl thief, wearing no armor, in Open Locks, Find/Remove Traps and Move Silently. The tools have 2 secondary powers.
SILENCE: Any thief using these tools will make no sound when opening locks, disarming traps, or any such use.
STEALTH: When all tools are placed in case, case can be held against users skin and will magically mold into the users body disappearing from view. There they safely remain until user commands them to resurface.

In this way we re-gain another meat shield, yet retain a thief in the main skills we need one for the most.

Thanks for the offer Albert but I don't want to change any characters mid-stream. Besides Sparrow is a Ranger, both clerics are strong warriors and Arien is well Arien. I can always play him as an NPC because I love dwarves.

Besides, the nature of this tomb is that more fighters will not help you. I have seen ToH decimate a 30 member barbarian hoard in one room. This requires teamwork and finesse. You are not even near the hard rooms yet.

Winter Wights - Technically no one has seen these creatures before but that is neither here nor there. There are more than one way to extinguish the blackfire and there is a "logic" to doing so (though some methods are riskier than others). I will give the Clerics a wisdom check for my next post and give you a hint if successful.
