Character sheet

NAME: Caise Jhorap (pronunciation: kai-SAY JOR-ap)
SPECIES: Miraluka
HOMEWORLD: Alpheridies
GENDER: Male
AGE: 19
HEIGHT: 6’1”
WEIGHT:170 lbs
HAIR: Silvery-white
EYES: None (technically has featureless, vestigial white orbs, typically covered by a scarf)
DESCRIPTION: Caise is a slightly taller than average, sleekly muscled miralukan male. As far as outward appearance is concerned, it wouldn’t be difficult to mistake him for a human of the same age save for the wide, silvery-blue sash that is almost always bound securely over his dead, white eyes. Otherwise, Caise looks pretty much as one would expect, sporting the short-cropped hair style and accompanying braid traditional to human padawans of the Jedi Order. As of the start of this adventure, Caise is still not entirely comfortable in social/diplomatic situations and, as a result, is fairly soft-spoken and may appear to be very introverted, brooding, and aloof.

History:
Caise Jhorap has spent nearly his entire life with the Jedi Order. That is not to say that he does not have a family or even that he doesn’t remember them – in fact, he meditates on them quite frequently. Had it not been for them allowing an old Jedi Master named Vantariel to take him to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant when he was but three years old, Caise would not have the life he does now, after all. In the sixteen years since leaving his homeworld of Alpheridies has immersed himself completely in the teachings of the Jedi Order and is convinced, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that this is the path he was meant to walk. It was a rare thing for young Caise to struggle with the teachings of the Masters who instructed him or with any of the volumes of text he had been required to absorb, though he did often take a great deal of time contemplating what might have been considered a minor lesson and seemed very deliberate and methodical during training. Those times when he did falter, however, seemed not to bother him to a great degree; if anything, his missteps only bolstered his dedication and determination. His fervent dedication to his studies and training served him well during his years among the Jedi younglings, he learned his lessons thoroughly and quickly and his progress from year to year was glaringly obvious.

His dedication to his studies, however beneficial to his skills and knowledge, was not without certain drawbacks, though. Caise was often so engrossed in his studies that he rarely thought to socialize with anyone aside from those who were present during his lessons or those who might have played a part in them, thus, self-deprived of any sort of personal interaction outside of the teachings of the Jedi, his manner became what some might consider brooding, painfully direct, and, somewhat aloof. It was his lack of charisma, in fact, that nearly kept the Council from allowing Master Trask to take Caise as his Padawan. They questioned his ability to play the role of diplomat or mediator and feared that his demeanor would possibly be counter-productive to any missions of that nature. After a great deal of reassurance and justification on Trask’s part – and promises that “the boy has learned everything else; he can learn… will learn to be diplomatic, as well” – Caise Jhorap was finally allowed to be taken as Trask’s padawan and complete his training as a Jedi.

under arrest...

Passengers aboard the Kul Kura have been ordered to move to the main passenger berth, where they will be watched by armed guards. Crew members have been placed under arrest; they will also be moved to the passenger berth, but in restraints.

I have assumed nothing. If you wish to start shooting (you'll never take me alive, coppers!), that's up to you.

Raven - in case you didn't know it, the red-haired soldier is you.

Out of curiousity...

Olan,

I realize that, aside from "flashbacks" and the like, Caise's master probably won't be making too much of an appearance in the game, but I was curious as to how difficult it might be to contact him if Caise should need some "advice" or some such. I'm guessing that Trask is probably out of Comlink range and I'm not entirely clear on how the Telepathy skill would work in such a situation (Trask's telepathy rank/score is fairly high, but Caise's is, of course, fairly limited...) Anyway, no big hurry on an answer to this - I don't see the padawan "needing" to contact the master just yet but, assuming he makes it to the surface in one piece, the possibility may arise.

communication....

The standard comlink has an effective range out to orbit, depending on the current LOS between ship and planet surface. Planets with advanced communiction nets can icrease this to cover the "dark side", as well.

Most deep space vessels (and certainly mny major planetside installations) have communications equipment capable of communicating truly vast distances either in audio or holo modes.

As for telepathy, I don't see this being a viable option for now. I'll have to look into it further to see if two of Trask's skill could even do it, but I am sure that the padawan cannot.

empathy check...

The sergeant is not too pleased to explain himself to a civillian, but he does anyway. "On charges of illegal spice distribution," he states. "Now I repeat, return to the passenger berth."

As far as Caise can tell, the sarge is upfront about his statement - no apparent hidden motives.

Questrions:

1) Is the red-haired soldier actually in the engine room?
2) Are there soldiers in the engine room? If yes, how many? If not, are they assuming we're going to head up to the passanger berth?

Noooo

Don't try it, Scott. Damanil is pretty nasty with his Heavy Blaster at point blank.

Yes, the red-haired soldier is actually in the engine room. Yes, they intend to fastem you with wrist restraints and lead you to the common area of the passenger berth.

just tolet you know...

I did a small update. This is your last chance to have struggled, objected, etc. to the military's involvement. The next post from me will be a nice little story bump.

Party time!!!

Okay, so thanks to the ruckus that's busted loose in the passenger berth, we're looking at 3 soldiers on-hand and who knows how many on the way, yes?

Currently Dime, Damanil, and Caise are the only one's who aren't bound, I'm not sure that Dime is even armed (though, I'd assume at least a hold out in the boot or something), and Damanil may not have even realized that Caise was trying to help... eeesh!

Couple of questions... how possible would it be to cut thru Ziv and Mercury's restraints w/out hurting them - and not getting cooked myself? How many passengers are "in the way"?

choppity chop

For the time being, it would be trivial to cut through the bindign chain that liks the two (thik similar to handcuffs). Of course, they will still have rings on each hnd tht will need to be removed, but that would give mobility.

There are another four passengers not affiliated with our game in the berth.

Two or three soldiers?

I thought the bothan and the Raven's character were the only soldiers left?
