Things are getting serious

Since things are getting pretty serious for some of you IC, Legendarious being attacked by that delivery guy and William in a tight spot with those two Werewolves, I've decided to let you in on few things.

First, I am not actively trying to kill you. If I was, you would notice. A good strategy might let you live longer and even become victorious, but a suicidal strategy is exactly that, suicidal. Hiding may not look all glorious and stuff, but it will keep you alive if successful.

Extras (those guys who nobody cares about) usually don't put up much of a fight. They have few health levels and suffering Lethal damage usually gets them running.

Death is far from being a distant possibility. Your character could die at any time in any fight. It may be anti-climatic but it still could happen. I would suggest that you have a back-up character ready when that happen, or at least the concept.

Bonus Points follow the Player, not the character. If your character dies your next character gets the Bonus Points you have left.

When it does come down to a fight, two things are possible. First we could act out every round, making each fight take weeks to finish, or we could skip several rounds. You can send me a PM, post it here or OOC in your game post, describing several rounds in advance, I make the rolls as normal and describe the whole thing. You could also just state "skip 3 rounds" and I fill in the blanks. There are many other ways to do it in order for the fights to take shorter time outside the game. The shorter the fights, the story gets further.

Of course, as soon as any two of the characters join up into a group, the fighting thing gets much more complicated. Until then, this is how we do things.

A couple of questions

1. Is the girl in Annabell's sketch holding a knife or any other sort of weapon over the bodies or is she just standing there?
2. Are the string of murders referenced in the pre-game teaser (Michelle Gardner's diary) common knowledge IC... say, something which might have been broadcast in the local news?

Answers

1. The girl on the sketch is not holding anything.

2. Michelle Gardner's diary has not been made public. Those murders have however been made public. That which hasn't been published in morning papers (broad-sheet or tabloid) or TV has been 'published' through gossip and the word on the street. I assume that characters know the same thing Michelle Gardner knew when she wrote her diary.

1/2 or 1 day reminder

Like I said earlier this week I am going to either update tonight or tomorrow. Since our dear friend Vorrioch is leaving for the holidays, I'm aiming for tonight.

Consider this as your reminder. Assume that I will update tonight. Those who do not post in time will not have their storyline updated.

Have a nice day.

Hey

Sorry I haven't been around in like 2 weeks. It was finals and I was studying. I'm back now. Yay no more finals!

So, another update is in

Yay, I've updated.

Tough work with all these groups. I'm going to have to force some of you into joining with one another so that my work gets easier

Anyway, here's what's up:

Vorrioch, I'm giving you an extra BP for that doctoring stuff. Yay for you

Jenth, you got 5 successes on 3 dice and in four rolls! Beat that! That is pretty good
I don't remember seeing anything about a sword but if it isn't in your inventory I'll just add it. Good to have you back.

Gerald, there isn't much to say about you private story, but the 'ink' used to write the contract smells faintly like blood.

Shounin, you did some heavy damage and suffered some damage. You could survive this, perhaps even win, but remember that you can't heal Lethal damage as easily as Bashing.

Drakar, sorry for the fast forward. I didn't know how else to progress things, but your plan with the lightbulb worked really well so I'm giving you an extra BP for creativity

Next update will be on the upcoming Wednesday. I'm leaving town next weekend to spend Christmas in my hometown and I'm not really sure if I will update anything at all while I'm there. Unless I say otherwise, assume that next Wednesday will include the last update before Christmas.

Well what to say

Well I didnt really want to hurt him because he was the delivery guy and probably not much of a foe for one. Second I just wanted to try that once. Third I didnt want to anymore damage to come to may packages. Forth I think the apartments owner would have killed me if anymore damage came to the apartment.

I would have fought him if he hadnt run away and he probably would have died. I had it for the most part planned out if it came to that but I think it is better this way with him running away.

Well...

The plan was solid, or at least pretty much so. I figured that he wouldn't like shooting bullets while blinded by the light so he ran. That is the logic of the retreat. Of course I just didn't know how to do things otherwise

You can avoid using Lethal Force in WoD if you don't want to kill the person. Most blunt objects do Bashing damage to a person and enough Bashing damage would have knocked him out instead of killing him. Just pointing out that you don't have to result to lethal force if you think you can avoid it.

Still, your plan was good and creative

Plan changed

Because I have an exam on Thursday I will be too busy studying on Wednesday to update then. Instead, I will update late on Thursday. It will be the last update before the holidays.

Just a note for those of you who did not already know, I'm starting a new WoD game but that does not mean that I'm giving up on this one. I will be Storytelling both games. The only change is with the updating schedule. I will probably stop updating every Wednesday and weekends and start updating once every week.

2 days reminder

Just giving you guys a 2 days reminder since none of you have posted yet. Those of you who want an update before Christmas need to post before I update on Thursday (possibly late on Thursday) because I won't update for you unless you do.

1 day warning

I intend to update tomorrow as planned, although it will probably be in the evening. Consider this your one day reminder.

This will also be the last update before Christmas. Once I get back from my vacation, I will post the date for the next update.

Update! Finally!

Sorry for the late update, my day was packed.

I finished my last exam earlier today, after which I took couple of hours as a break. Watched some TV and did really nothing creative
After that I worked a bit on the update and visited my granddad. Then I finished the update.

All of you get couple of BP each just because of Christmas and you all made it so far

Additionally, Shounin just kicked some furry behind in his fight against the two werewolves, so I'm giving him extra two BP.

Gerald just made a Faustian deal (metaphorically speaking) and the post was good. I liked that you covered up your swearing, it makes me look good
Ren Majere is now considered to have Resources 5 at all times until the deal is broken.

Vorrioch, I'm switching into an other scene at the Asylum. As for the interview, I didn't notice that part in your post until just now. I might edit it later but as for now, there is nothing new to be learned, only things that were already in the file.

Jenth, I've already mentioned the werewolf part of your post and since that has been cleared out, I liked that someone actually lies in this group so far

Drakar, I don't think I gave you enough to work with in your post. Sorry about that. Liked what you did anyway; simple but delivers the message I think.

So, everyone got a +5 BP except for Shounin who got +7.

And now for the Christmas bonus

I am going to allow you to make changes to your characters. These changes can be anything, as long as it does not add points that you do not have or leave you with less points. It is a general switch, children. You can switch points between two Skills in the same catagory (Mental, Physical, Social) for example, but not between catagories. Send me a PM with a request if you want to change some traits, but remember that you will not get another chance to switch later and this offer is only available until the next update.

Merry Christmas

De-merit?

Would it be okay for Hiram to switch his Direction Sense merit for a dot in Emotional Detachment (Asylum, p.50)? I guess the downside to getting new books over Christmas is that you’ll always find something that fits your character better.

Also, if I remember correctly you decided that Hiram could buy new Numina for 5 BP each. Could I spend 5 now to buy one that will let him mess with people’s dreams? I’ve written up a description of what I’d like it to do… if this is okay then I’ll send it to you for any changes you might want to make. On the other hand, if you’d prefer me to leave the nightmares well alone then would it be okay to take Breath Stealing (Asylum, p. 114) instead?

Hope you all had a good Christmas and enjoy the New Year!

Yes...

I don't have the Asylum or any book near me (it's on the other side of the country) but if the price is the same and it fits your character then yes, you can make the switch.

As for that Numen, send me the write-up so that I can have a look. I can't see a reason why you can not get a new Numen

Dream Thief

Sent you a PM with Hiram's new Numen (which I'm calling Dream Thief). Hope it's all okay, if not then please feel free to make any changes.

All that Emotional Detachment does is reduce penalties caused by stress or dangerous circumstances (the example in the book is of operating on someone while a werewolf's trying to break into your car). It seemed appropriate for Hiram since he's probably going to care a lot less about the wellbeing of whoever he might currently be possessing, and be a lot more interested in just getting the job done, than that person probably would be themselves.
