well

Philosopher has posted a note about being away for a little (a week or something).

Jozan has been on and off in any game he is in lately, and with lately I mean the past couple of months.

Should I find another player? Or are we continuing the fight with two players (Ayrn and Sib), one spectator (Sui) and NPCed rest of the team?

Let's move along!

I say let's keep up the pace. A week is long enough of a wait. Well... as long as by "NPC" you mean the others are planning on attacking. Otherwise things could get ugly.

oh

I was going to have them pick their nose, but I guess attacking is a good option

I shall update somewhere in the weekend then!

ah

well, the five foot step won't work now the creature has moved 5 feet back. You'd need a 10-foot step, something we just can't do. OR you can try to walk around the beast, which will provoke an attack of opp, since there is so little space to go to.

And Ayrn, from now on, when I run a game, I'm no longer allowing the book of Nine Swords, or wherever you found all those tactics. It's simply too much fuss.

(this doesn't mean you don't get to play Pio as he is, I'm still allowing everything in this adventure. I'm just glad to be warned of all the possibilities in that book. )

Now this...

is what I call High Adventure! wOOt!

Nice post, Almerin! Was not expecting to be dragged into the water. eep! Pio is in some serious trouble!

Three questions, one plea, and one aside.

Question #1: Is the water immediately off the fairly deep? Does Pio roughly know the depth? (either he can just tell, or perhaps a Knowledge [local] check, or something)

Question #2: Is the water flowing fairly fast? Are Pio and the monster steadly moving "down stream" while grappling?

Question #3: Just how big is this creature? As far as game mechanics are concerned, does the beast classify in the medium, large, or huge size category? (I'm hoping it ain't any bigger than huge!)

Plea to the rest of the players: HELP!

Aside: The Book of the Nine Swords is GREAT! It actually allows fighters to keep up with the magic users at higher levels and gives them more flexibility so they are not just one trick ponies. I will admit, it takes a bit to get the mechanics... and Pio has ALOT of class abilities too because he's multiclassed all over the place, so he's got auras and stances and maneuvers and class abilities. But really, a straight wizard (or sorcerer) could have caused just about as much damage as Pio did, but with the added bonus of doing it from a distances and with nearly automatic hits. (Magic Missile, for instance). Anyway, Almerin, I'm glad you've fallen in love with Bot9S!

One more question...

Is it possible for Pio, realizing that he is being grappled, to drop his sword on the docks before being pulled into the water?

Thanks! I was hoping this would take the encounter to another level. I'm just very glad Pio didn't make his attack of opp on the creature. That would've probably be its end.

As for your questions:

1) fairly deep right away. Pio knows that though the Thunder River is a natural one, it has long ago been shaped to better suit docking of larger vessels in Drefast. So it gets quite deep very fast. We're talking about 12 feet where you dropped, going deeper fast towards the middle of the river.

2) The water is flowing, but not so fast. Pio can feel the pull but is not dragged away fast. We'll talk 5 feet per round.

3) Gargantuan... lol. Not really. It's large, but that's still pretty big to be fighting alone... under water

oh

and Pio's sword got dragged with him into the depth. But you can fish it up after the fight, I'm sure. IF Pio lives. Which depends on his friends as well!

hehe...

I couldn't decide what I should do to help, then I noticed a detail that had gone unworried about for a while: I have an excess of daggers and nothing better to do XD. Needless to say this proves to be a hazard, having about 10 rounds-1/standard action down there, as I try to grapple.

Let us see what ends up happening. On a side note, I would be appreciative if Percy didn't decide to fire from on high ^-^.
