well

I think you are forgetting. The name of the test was DARK POWERS. I doubt turn undead would qualify as dark.

No, but

It would have been a test that included a dark power -- the vampire ...

He didn't say WE had to be or use the Dark Powers, now, did he?

[Edit]
I also jut noticed that my avatar has changed three times in the past four days. And I am not doing it ...

Leave my avatar alone!

Lol

30 points to the one who sent the bloodsucker screaming for his mommy.

I'll wait to see if Al has any second judgement on familiar placing/detection before I decide what to post. I am predicting a sorcerous meltdown here if the owl was killed. Heck, with Percy's reputation, there should be hell to pay whether the owl will live or not. We just need to figure out how to get in now though.

Other plans include trying again tomorrow, attempting to talk to the vampire-crowd, turning undead at the crowd for the fun of it, assaulting the door, assualting the crowd, flying in through yonder window and..... oh, yeah, throwing the vampire in through yonder convenient window.

Maybe now is Ocyari's time to shine, with quick tricks of legerdemain and other skuldudgery?

hehe

You're right about Percifeer's reputation.

She will tear the building down, if what Al said happened, really just happened.

Edit: I think what's upsetting as a player is that the guy is making up rules as he goes. He set the rules, not me. That he doesn't like my way around them is not really relevant to whether I complete the task or not.

The perils

of starting off at only 4th level hey? With a few more levels (and perhaps a few more) we really could tear the building down. But then, the DM is supposed to give us something to keep us in check for when we try to do ridiculous things like that. Attacking the familiar was cold-blooded though- that mountainous beast has made himself a dangerous enemy.

I could take it

No, it's more than possible. The DM will, as I start to explain how, try to come up with ridiculous ways to thwart it. He'll claim something like "it's made of steel". The reality of the matter is that the building (being so near a river) is built on wooden stilts. I can summon a few mounts and tie them to a stilt rather easily. They will yank out, causing catastrophe. The only thing that will stop me is the obvious thugs in the shadows, but then, that's what my wand of Summon Monster I is for. It's not that difficult to tear a building down. Surviving such a direct attack on this building....that's another question.

huh?

Ok... maybe I should've specified more clearly... or maybe YOU should've, Sui... exactly where your owl was. You have to remember that this is an online game, and I can't keep track of every single detail, as much as I am trying to do that. I will withdraw my last post, since it doesn't apply, and will post a new one, once you specify how close exactly your owl gets, and what it is exactly you want it to do. Do you expect it to designate which one is the vampire? Percifeer can see the targeted group just as much as the owl, and there are no fangs sticking out of any of the mouths. Once I know precisely what the owl is supposed to do, I will react with an answer that is suitable. You do realize that this test is not taken lightly, I hope. And Sib is right: you're only level 4. Don't expect the rest of the world to be of lower level than you. If you really think that, than you're going to face some serious trouble inside this tavern.

ONE thing that I really want you to remember though: don't insult me. You saying that I'm making rules and things up as we go is an insult to my integrity. I'm running this game for entertainment, but it is RULES based, and I'm not making these rules, they were made for us. I hope from now on you'll be able to keep your dumb remarks to yourself, otherwise I will not continue. I didn't come here to get insulted for my efforts to provide a good game.

And if you're angry over the rate of success Percy has with her attempts, maybe you should look at her actions, and reconsider the impulsive self-confidence that she uses and replace it with more logic. And if you're arguing against that by saying that such is not her character, than you have no right to be angry at all.

I apologize for my harshness, but I don't take lightly to this kind of remarks.

Apologies DM

Nonononono. I think there was a complete misinterpretation here. The internet is a rather harsh medium after all. My intent was not to insult. Generally, when a player does something extreme, the DM will try to thwart it, that is all I was trying to say.

I was speaking more from personal experience than from what I've seen you do. You've been an excellent DM and I had no intent to insult.

Additionally, I do apologize if I was unclear as to Percifeer's actions. If you can tell a way that I can be more clear in the future, please give me hints. Maybe it's because I'm picturing how this is going in my own manner that it seems quite clear to me. I really thought I was clear in my posts and could use any pointers you're willing to give.

and....clarification

The owl was up on the rooftops spotting for teeth. If it can't see very well would be the only reason to get closer (unlikely). If it is getting nothing, then I was going to use a detect magic spell to see if any of them show up on it and in what manner.

EDIT: and I thought they were having a conversation, which is why I was thinking a spot could pick up teeth.

The final method, if none of that works is to use the summoned monster to attack. That, apparently is against unstated rules, which I don't blame you for given the alignments here. Still, I can't claim I wouldn't do it. My character believes the rules were as they were stated.

Theoretically, I agree with the detect undead spell, but right offhand I figured it was a trick question, which declared to me that more than one of the group would be undead, which is the reason I'm getting so complex with my analysis.

*insert sigh of relief here*

Ok, I'm glad this has been cleared up, and apology accepted, of course.

I'll redo my post then, using your latest additions.
