Selaro's Exchange

Das Korvat sat in his chair with a bottle of his favorite hard liquor and closed his eyes. The shop was closed after the fiasco with the goblins, but the traffic during the day previous to the raid had brought in some needed gold. As he sat, Selaro quietly opened the door and entered in. She holded a small pouch in her hand and called quietly. Das .. is it a good time. I wanted to make an offer to you. She removed a shiny Emerald from the pouch and held it in her hand.

At first when Das Korvat opened his eyes he seemed bothered and slightly angered by the intrusion, but the firelight sparkled on the emerald in Selaro's hand and his eyes widened. Where did you get that, girl? he barked. He stood up in his chair and began an accusation. I told you if yu does any stealin' around here yer gonna give me an even worse hic reputation than I already gots. hic
Selaro stepped back for a second but held her resolve. She explained that the Emerald was a reward and that she was interested in a trade for the serrated blade he had in the shop window. She would give him the emerald and let him sell her current weapon for 50% of the profit.

Das Korvat thought for a moment .. and then he quickly snatched the Emerald from Selaro's hand. He looked at it and sat back in the chair holding it tightly in his fist. Take it Das said .. and motioned to Selaro to leave. leave the other in it's place and we'll see if it sells
Selaro left Das Korvat to his drunken slumber and quietly made the exchange .. smiling as she held her new blade in her hand feeling it's balance and swiftness.

That night

Once Selaro had drunk her full of wine she continued any conversation with who ever was left then went to her room in The White Deer, after locking the door and windows firmly and storing her stuff away in a cupboard/cabinet, undressed and went to bed with the prospect of spending the next day riding in a forest to the south east and practicing with her new scimitar.

The next day she proceeds towards the Inn after donning her armour, grabbing her scimitar, grabbing her backpack full of her other stuff and eating breakfast. She also gives notice to the Innkeeper that she might be gone for a few days but to keep her room for her.
If this was going to be the hunt of their lives then she might as well be prepared for any situation.

When he heard Selaro accept he felt bad for making up his mind so fast. He never was much for hunting killing animals unnecessarily seemed foolish.?b? I suppose it would be all right. ?/b? he thought walking inside

Ariellyn

Ariellyn hears the invitation to join the other group. She is of a divided mind on whether or not to join them. The presences of the orc or half-orc, she couldn’t quite decide which, made her stay put for now but when he departed she picked up her drink and plate and moved gracefully though the still rather full tavern to the table where the other "heroes" had gathered. Her heavy cloak still about her and her bow case and quiver the only weapons showing.

Before sitting she introduced herself. "I am Ariellyn Windsong." I arrived just this morning to Sandpoint. Interesting place." she says is a neutral tone--her words imply more than her tone does. "May I have the pleasure of your names? I arrived too late to hear the stories of your exploits today." Her voice had a soft musical quality of her race--even though speaking the common tongue.

Ariellyn waits until introductions are maid both ways and then moves to sit down. Her clothes are well cut and made but only have simple adornment of embroidery in colored threads about the edges of the neck and hems. Her headband was a single band of silver twisted and sculpted but without engraving or jewels--mostly functional. Her silver white hair hung in long curls at the back the side though were gathered back and up by the headband. The fire light warms her creamy skin with a golden color. Her lips and cheeks are colored like a pale blush on an apricot. Her eye were startlingly pal and of an unusual color being sea green like aqua but greener) and almost translucent. Ariellyn features were unmistakably elven, high cheekbones, a delicately sculpted face, high arched eyebrows large eyes and their distinctive pointed ears. Though slender she had the look of a person of action and not some hot house flower. her hands on her drink were long and graceful though they must be strong enough to pull the mighty composite bow on her back. IT was fashioned of some very dark wood, as were the shafts of all her arrows the stuck out of her beautifully crafted leather quiver. Her arrows were identically fletched in the same type of feathers, and with a band of bright bluegreen near the notch for ease of identification.

All-in-all she was quiessentialy elven.

She continues easily, "Do the goblins usually cause this much of a problems around here."

Selaro

The female human who had bought the wine introduced herself first
"Greetings Ariellyn, my name is Selaro and to answer your question, goblins aren't usually a problem, I've lived here for two years now and this is the first goblin attack I've seen." turning away from the wine she's sipping to speak to Ariellyn and proceeds to engage her in conversation.

Goblins

Yes .. I agree. The goblins sometimes cause a problem outside of the city, but never within the city walls. There must have been some larger picture to this goblin attack. I think there must have been some mastermind behind a goblin attack of this magnitude and boldness After a while, Myra arose and said her salutations. I must report back to the Cathedral. As long as the High Priest allows it I will see you tomorrow morning for the hunt. She shook hands with those around. She looked inside the bag which contained 5 platinum coins. One for each of us I guess. and took one and put it in the pouch with the gems. Waving as she exited the Rusty Dragon

Back at the cathedral she addressed Father Zantus. She told him about the situation and although he had told her of her destiny and gave her the freedom to follow it, she felt it was only polite to inform him of where she was headed. She told him her thoughts on the seriousness of such a bold goblin attack and lastly took the large emerald from the pouch and handed it to the father telling him to aid with any costs this attack may have encored. She also took a ruby from her pouch and handed it to him saying This is from Selaro, a gift as well to the temple . Apologizing for the disruption of the cathedral's consecration, she headed to bed packing for the journey before she fell into a deep slumber.

The Cathedral

Father Zantus set about cleaning up the mess of the onslaught. Had it not been for Myra's bravery, he thought, and the bravery of others, this would have ended badly. As it was, he and the other priests and priestesses were able to bandage and heal most of the wounded from the battle. There were, however, those to bury, and Gorvi's men hauled off goblin carcasses in wheelbarrows to be burned or dumped into the ocean. As evening came to a close, he returned to the Cathedral to pray.

Desna, watcher of travlers, I lift up this prayer to you. Please watch over young Myra and keep her safe. She is still young and although there is much power in her I ask that you do this, that you guide her with your wisdom
Later in the evening he was pleased to see Myra enter into the cathedral. She told him about her thoughts on the goblin raid and he agreed. There must be something else causing these goblins to be so bold .. in time, perhaps we will discover the truth When Myra held out an Emerald and also a ruby which she said was from Selaro, he knew it was a gift from the town. Although he hated to take such a valuable gift, he placed it in the offering box and held her close. You have such a good heart my child When she went to bed, he cried

Desna

Desna, had been busy watching the people of Sandpoint. There was, indeed a deeper plan. She knew it and the other god's knew as well. Something had to be done. Evil, like Varisia had never seen was about to rise. An old Evil, one that brought fear to the heart of Desna herself.
Desna looked down at Selaro and saw her precious serrated blade. As she slept, she wove a magic into the blade. When you need it, it will serve you A whisper in the night spoke over the metal and it glowed briefly. Selaro slept.
Taden's spellbook sat next to his bed, opened on the night table. She wove a spell into the book causing it to glow brightly for a moment while Taden slept. May this bring you the power of the gods when needed my sleeping friend Over at the Cathedral she saw the gift given by Myra so thoughtlessly. She took the Emerald from the offering box and lifting Myra's simple holy symbol from her backpack, she enchanted it, infusing the emeralds power into the holy relic. This one will be extra special Desna thought to herself. It glowed a bright green and when it was finished an emerald sat in the middle of the symbol, it's light pulsing and fading. May this holy symbol give you the strength you need to conquer the enemy ahead At the Rusty Dragon, Desna passed over Ariellyn while she slept. She took the bow she used for combat and wove a magic into it Aim true my good archer, take down your foe with the swiftness of the gods To Welbry, she went over to his armor. A fighter must be able to block the fiercest blow and she wove a strength into the armor unseen by Welbry himself
Desna had one more stop to make. This one was also special. She knew that Grush was always worried about his appearance, but it was not his appearance she was going to change. No, he was far to beautiful and she would not dare. Instead she decided to give him the ability to decide that for himself. She looked around the room and spotted the Dragon Mask he had worn at the festival. Using her magic, she transformed this simple Head covering into a mighty helmet. The mask hummed with divine power and settled back down as a helmet of battle. She moved it over next to Grush's things and smiled at him as he snored loudly in his bed. Others would find this kind of snoring highly agitating, but she did not. Go now, mighty Orc, Destiny awaits

To Tickwood

Aldern Foxglove got up early and waited for the others to arrive out in front of the inn. He sat next to his driver on the coach that he had taken into town from his mansion. Four riders stood next to their horses ready to escort the coach along it's journey to Tickwood. A second covered wagon carried goods for the journey and items he had picked up from the Swallowtail festival. As the local heroes arrived, he clapped his hands It is great to see you! he told each one as they arrived. He was especially happy to see Selaro and he could hardly contain the joy in his voice when she arrived. I didn't think you would come but I am so glad you did When all had arrived he ushered them into the coach with himself and the caravan took off, heading west over Tanner's Bridge and along the southern banks of the Tunrandarok river. Heading north of the upthrust limestone escarpment known as the Devil's Platter. Aldern addresses the group as they ride along. He is a great conversationalist asking each of his passengers many questions. He is interested in who they are, where they are from, how long they have been fighting goblins. He gladly answers any questions they might have for himself.

Conversationalist or nosy Parker?

"Greetings Aldern, It is a pleasure to meet you again and thank you for your kindness in the inn. As you can see I have reconsidered your offer and decided to join you on your hunt so long as a minimal is wasted." Selaro says as she sees Aldern and once she has clambered into the caravan she continued the conversation and answered his questions unless they concerned her family at which she would sightly change the subject.
"What brought you to Sandpoint originally? I have always believed this place to be a quiet port town with little importance with outsiders, excepting tradesmen, and I assume you did not come to be set upon by goblins during the festival. Actually, that question goes for all of you that weren't born in the city as I am interested to know all your stories. Myself I came here from Ashen Moor near two years ago to escape from my past." As she says that last word though you sense that she is not being truthful with you but at the same time it is a truth, sort of a half lie. And if anyone pushes the subject of why she left she, again sightly changes the subject. You also notice that she has a new gleaming scimitar at her side, quite different from the one she had yesterday, with serrated edges.

wakey wakey

Grush woke up strangely that morning he had a dream that someone or something was watching over him not only in the night but it seemed his whole life he knew this 'voodoo' could not be true and as he scrabbled aroound for his chamoion statue he noticed the green mask was not what it used to be it was now a helmet that hummed, the humming seemed not annoying to Grush as most musical instruments do but pleasant decided he would not wear this to day but did however unlock Gorvi's oaken chest and put it in there it was the most wondrous the thing Grush had ever seen this helmet it didn't glow but seemed to as if he was imagining it.

Grush met the others and Aldern at the agreed meeting place but said nothing to anyone when he was there aprt from a brief hello addressed to everyone there and any questions he might have been asked were not answered as Grush was in a complete state of thinking *who put the helmet there* *where is the mask* *why didn't I awake like normal if intruders are in my house or near me* he thought that it may have been Selaro but doubted her skill at making something so beautiful as the helmet he had awoken to see.

Early in the morning

Ariellyn was up with the sun as was her daily routine. bathed and clean she brushed down her clothes before putting hem back on. She had gone down to the tavern early to break her fast. She ordered bread and cheese and porriage with cream and honey liberally covering it. THe bread she toasted over a fire and then folded it around the cheese of a sandwich she could eat later. Out side she filled her waterskin with fresh water.

Ariellyn had noticed the coach being prepared in the courtyard. It also seemed there were mounted outriders. This could present a problem in that she had not horse, she was on foot.

Finding a convient barrel Ariellyn sits off to the side and waites for others to appear. AS Aldern Foxglove came out she stood and and reintroduced herelf more formally.

"A fine new day, My Lord Aldren, I am Ariellyn Windsong and I am pleased to join you this day." And Ariellyn was pleased, she wouldn't make it her buiness to tell a lord what to do in his own lands, but she could make sure the boar was killed cleanly and quickly as possible given the opportunity to do so.

Ariellyn moved forward to greet Lord Aldern Foxglove with graceful strides of her race. Her mighty bow in its case over her shoulder and quiver of arrows. on her hip. Her aqqua eyes rivaled the bringhtest of the morning sky.

To Tickwood

Myra got up early and packed her things. Not even noticing at first the emerald now forged into her holy symbol until at last she looked into the mirror. At first she thought the symbol was a mistake .. had she picked up someone elses by mistake? but then she noticed too many similarities in the holy relic that proved it to be hers .. but how? In any case it was far better than the symbol she had before and as she placed it around her neck she felt no different really but the emerald sparkled in the light.

Myra got up and went downstairs. She kissed Father Zantus on the cheek and waved goodbye. Arriving at the Rusty Dragon she met up with the others and took her place on the coach. Good morning! she told the others and she made herself comfortable to the left of Selaro and across from the elf she had met the night before. I gave the ruby to the High Priest and he said that Desna is most pleased with your gift She nodded at Selaro and continued to Ariellyn. Good to see you could join us on the hunt, isn't it exciting! Myra's enthusiasm could hardly be contained.

Myra tried to make pleasant conversation with Aldern as they rode along. She answered his questions honestly and couldn't help but notice that whenever Selaro spoke, he really seemed to listen a bit more intently. I think he likes you she whispered at one point to Selaro as the coach and it's escort made its way to the west of Devil's Platter.
