This is a purely OOC comment.

I'd be careful about taking these wolfy-types too lightly. Aelistae turned one last turn, which means that it's a lycanthrope of some sort. It may be the only one out there, in which case that would explain why she didn't turn any others. Or it could be that it had 4 or more HD, and Aelistae rolled low on her turning damage.

Either way, it's not time to get cocky.

ok, I've edited my post slightly...I'd asked someone if -18 meant something was dead. I was assured it was dead. That is why I posted as I did. (I wanted to ask Ginafae, or Kaelyn but ya'll weren't online at the time, so I had to ask someone else) At any rate, I hope my edit works. If not, let me know....

U know me, I don't usually post past a specific action until I know the outcome of said action....so I reeally hope this one works. If not, i could be in trouble. O.O (Surprised? Not really...)

Besides, how can the wolf be "far from dead" if it has (NEGATIVE) -18 hp?? How exactly does that work? I mean, 'cause even if it is not dead, I don't see how it could do much of anything....so .. any help on understanding that would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I think the post is to inform players how much damage it took, and not what it's total HP are (which our characters wouldn't know).

So when Kaelyn wrote -18 hp in brackets, it was supposed to imply that he/she/it had taken 18 damage.

correctimundo

AS you would have no idea what the enemy's total hp count is, I just lit what damage you've done, and even then I only do it occassionally, sometimes I don't post the numbers at all, typiclly only when they are impressive and you can go "aw yeah, I did that!"

Hopefully I'll be able to intimidate this wolf into leaving. Or should I even try? I'm not sure if it's pointless or not, but forest gnomes can talk to forest animals kind of so hopefully it works.

I'm not sure that it's a typical wolf, but it's worth a try I suppose.

*feeling stupid here*

OOOooh....I should have known that. I'm sorry! Now don't I feel stupid...*sighs* When I saw -18hp I automatically assumed the would had -18hp left....*rolls eyes* I don't know why I assumed that considering I've never assumed that before! Sorry....

So, tell me, should I still edit my post???

Artanis

Don't edit I'll just have you deal with the wolf on your next round, and then you can take it from there as to where you go (ie to talus or what not depending)

Is there a lawyer in the house?

Anyone know if the withdraw action is possible while prone? I'm going to go a'hunting here in a minute for the rules, but figured I'd post the question in case there's anyone who's looked that up recently.

EDIT:
Ok, so a person can crawl 5ft as a move action and that movement provokes an AoO just like a normal move. I couldn't find anything in the PHB or the Rules Compendium that says you can't combine crawling and the withdraw action... but, I couldn't find anything that says you can combine the two either.

Kaelyn, the ball is in your court. 10' without an AoO or 5' with one? Your call.

Is there a possibility of getting an updated map after round two of combat? I want to make my next decision knowing all my options. I'm either deciding between rushing to Bart, or helping someone else out right now.

Sure jozan give me 5 minutes I'll put one up

Map wise that is.

and Deuc, I don't see why moving 10' from combat wouldn't allow an AoO when moving 5' would.... unless I'm reading your blurb wrong. The point of being prone is it's supposed to suck. I can't rightly see how crawling away in any fashion allows you to safely proide enough attention and cover to prevent any AoO's that may otherwise be taken against your withdrawing form.

The only house rule on this I can make is a Full round withdrawl while Prone. "By focusing all your attention on escaping your precarious position, you can move 1/2 your reguar movement and stand from prone, while making a Concentration check vs the AoO's Attack roll to deny any additional damage. Doing so is a full round action "(meaning only swift / free actions can be taken that round)

So Talus could make a full withdrawl, make a Concentration check vs the wolf's Attack roll, and if your concentration check is higher, no AoO is made, if it fails, the wolf's AoO will go against your prone AC as normal. Providing you're not incapacitaed or further tripped, your round would still end with you being 1/2 movement away and standing.

That seems more than a fair compromise for unclear rules to me.

Eek, things aren't looking too rosy.

Hopefully Super Gnome can help Talus or Artanis while Aelistae heals Bart.

Of course if Elesia used some of her bard song abilities it might help.
