This Could Be Going Worse. . . I Could Still Be Dead.

Lothor is quite surprised to find himself on the ground; last he knew he was being driven back by the large knight and beaten by one of the damnable gith. He quickly gets on his feet and—in his post-unconsciousness disorientation missing the knight but seeing one of the selfsame gith in front of him—charges and swings at its gut twice with his greatsword, cold fury powering his hopefully-disemboweling swings. Teach this creature to attack him—or his allies.

(OOC: Lothor attacks gith #10 twice with his +3 Greatsword of Wounding. If the first swing kills it [doubtful] and you'll let me get away with it, the second swing will be aimed at #9)

Reinforcements or more trouble?

The battle clearly, as always it seemed, was not going the party’s way. Maggot racked by spasms and pain, the Limper living up to his name having infected the Ranger/Bard with some form of crippling disease. Rayne unconscious, possibly dead, having healed Lother fully a last act of life. Peri, clearly for the moment under the sway of Dark Whisper. Niamedris in critical shape, on the floor dying. Sirene at full physical health but mentally lost totally in the mind of a tiger, a creature finding itself beset by enemies on all sides. More Githyanki soldiers summoned and no help in sight would this finally be the party’s last stand.

With blood and magic in the air so it was that magic once more held sway as Dark Whisper, her hands held at her side, chanted, and Instantly beside her there appeared four 12’ large wolves. Beautiful with glistening white fur, eyes of pale blue and exhaling frosted breath vapor. With a nod from the Sword-Wraith the four huge wolves headed forward to attack the party...........

“She will have you before this is all over. Robbing her the joy of taking this life she has sought after for so long. I go happily knowing she will destroy you and your sister and no power in the world will stop the wrath she will bring down upon you.”
Maggot managed to get out through the pain his words lost in a hosh-posh of unconceivable sound to all but Limper. As he watched the Ranger/Bard, Limper smiled, though for just a single moment he had seemed unsure a small trace of worry in his eyes. In that simple moment of hesitation Weaver quickly cast the spell of Cure Moderate Wounds and gained hit points as Limper’s sword pierced his chest stealing them. As the former Valar raised his sword for a second downward thrust, he sensed danger and quickly dodged to the side as a powerful ray of green light passed through where the Sword-Wraith had stood a second before.

Limper thinking the Ranger/Bard was closer to death then he actually was, that Weaver would surely bleed out, turned and began to move towards the caster of the ray. Though still racked by pain, his body cramped in agony, Weaver’s quick thinking and the addition of those ten hit points had saved his life...........

To Ulthok the sight of Peri resting on Dark Whispers shoulder was the worst feeling he had, had since seeing his brother Divot as undead and having to kill him. Knowing that for the moment he could do nothing, even as he felt Peri release her hold on the two held Gith, he turned to a bigger need. Weaver was down and hurt clearly at the mercy of the Sword-Wraith and that was the priority. A spell to his lips and a green ray of light flew from his hand towards the Limper, only to miss as the former Valar dodged to the side.

In the next moment the Limper was headed his way, his hand raised as if readying a spell, Weaver forgotten. However the Halfling Thief/Mage had more to worry on as the Githyanki soldier (#12) continued to attack, scoring a hit upon Ulthok's chest. Forced a few steps back by the blow the spell casting Halfling was faced with a dire situation this next combat round.........

Aliya, having literally cut the last standing Gith soldier before her in two, found her self for the moment free of any threats. Wasting no time, she quickly moved to the two unconscious Gith and with two swift cuts decapitated the creatures on the floor. At the same time, she commanded Xin to take her half-used potion to Niamedris. Xin at his masters command wasted no time, though the potion was heavy, getting it to Sirene’s cat. Working it up under Niamedrises mouth he poured it in as best he could watching as the familiar drank it down. In only seconds, though not fully healed, the black Elvin cat was stirring once more........

For Roan knowing that, the Gith in front of him were frozen and ripe for easy killing instead turned to give life. Crouching by Rayne‘s side, a last glancing look back at the two frozen Gith, he reached out to touch the other Ranger/Cleric’s face. At once, he realized that Rayne was not dead or unconscious, but bleeding and too weak to keep her eyes or limbs active. A chant to Odin and from his hand the light of a spell of healing shot forward. In seconds, as like Niamedris, the Elvin female was over half healed and coming out of her dazed state.

However, Roan found to his dismay with a pair of angry growls that the two once held Githyanki warriors were again free. Peri, at the request of the Lady Dark Whisper having released them from her spell. Both Gith wasted no time striking forward at a kneeling Roan and though he defended well, each creature struck him a single hard hit. Feeling the steel of the Githyanki blades punch into his body he found himself yet alive and still able to fight.........

For Sirene, or more honestly the small trace of the Elf Enchantress/Shape-Shifter remaining, it was escape. Escape from the two legged creatures moving and fighting around her. Having given herself over completely to the rage of the tiger, she had become the tiger, giving away Sirene to the mind of the big cat. Now with no one attacking her or standing in her way, the big cat saw its chance to escape. With a solid pair of rear legs and the powerful muscles there, it launched itself into the air, barely missing a raising Lothor.

Her leap a large one the Tiger found before her the standing form the Human Knight. Her front paws, then rear, striking the front armor of the held human knight. The big cat still seeking escape used it as a springing board, her rear legs once more propelling her forward as the large Knight crashed to the ground. This second and last leap found her finally landing behind the last of the attacking Githyanki and the newly summoned wolves To her front the cat now faced a very angry Limper, even with his pronounced limp moving quickly. Both having used their full movement and attacks and both blocking the others way, they would face each other this next round.........

Lothor was dizzy, stiff with healed scars, but fully combat ready once more. Rayne’s willingness to heal him at the possible cost of her own life not lost on the big Human Gladiator. Having just been missed by Sirene/Tigers leap, he was upright and attacking at once. Catching the first Gith before him off guard, (#10) the Githyanki soldier’s full attention on Roan, his great sword slammed twice into the creature’s side effectively disemboweling it. Blood everywhere, on Roan, the other Gith, and Lothor in a great spray of red, the Gith fell to the floor dead.......

Cor once outnumbered found himself this round only facing one enemy Gith. (#11) As the two traded blows, it was Cor that came out on top as two of his attacks struck true. Without a moment’s pause, the blades of his battleaxe drove deep, dropping the Gith dead to the ground before him. With the enemy Knight, prone Cor at once took in the scene before him. To his right Roan faced one of the two once held Gith (#9), to his front Ulthok alone faced another Githyanki (#12) and sure to come forward the six new Gith.

However as Cor watched all that changed as four of the six new Githyanki leaped away from the party towards the southern door only two towards them. As the Dwarf Knight Cleric watched, that same southern door exploded into flying shards of wooden shrapnel, barely missing the four Gith as they once more phased into being. Then through where the once sturdy door had stood there appeared a stout bulky being of 4 ½ in size. With a shield on one arm, a battleaxe in the other and colored entirely in red, the creature moved into the room. As the four Githyanki fanned out in front of this new threat, all in the party could hear it singing.

”We sing the song
Of the under halls
Of warriors strong
When duty calls
Our Orc foes straight down we'll MOW
Shout louder lads

We sing the song
Of the dwarven king

(DM OOC: Ok here is this weeks post and once again, I must apologize for its delay with all the tests once more lined up and my trip to Georgia in July I may not be posting 100% on Sundays. However never fear the game will go on no matter where I am. Ok lets all welcome CTHB to Trilogy as he has been so very kind to take over Lothor, who as we all can clearly see is needed in this fight. Ok I’m shooting to put up my next post on Sunday the 22nd, if you Ladies & Gentleman can post sooner to help me out getting the posts up on time I would thank you forever. Map up by tonight.)

I have felt this pain before

Racked with pain and holding on to life if by magic or love, Maggot recalled the sword. The crippling pain it once brought to him for all those many years. He managed to smile. He lifted his head and looked upon the room. ‘If I can not hurt them I can hurt those they command, “Upon small wings with teeth gnashing and biting find them and eat them.” With the start of those words 5 small creatures began to circle around Maggot. The wings were those of butterflies brightly colored and each one different, their eyes were large and bulbous, the teeth of these five miss formed creatures were pointed and the gums seemed to bleed as more teeth pushing through with every word spoken. These flew from Maggot in the direction of his out stretched hand. The five found their target, the lead Winter Wolf. Maggot knew it was a futile gesture on his part but he was only hoping to buy time.

OCC: Magic Missile used.

tune's just get stuck in an endless loop in your mind...

Alyia grimaced having moved closer to where most of the rest of the party were. the blood an gore, as in heavy battle was hard to tell who's was where.

Alyia couldn't help but grin as the words of the battle song danced in her ears.

We sing the song
Of battles won
Of warriors strong
When duty's done
Who'll lift their ales and clammor HO!
Shout louder lads
***DEATH FROM BELOW***

Alyia delved into the fray with renewed vigour. slashing at the gliths throat before her. (#19) humming to the tune which the tiny warrior was belting forth.

Xin was helping Niamedrises to its feet hefting the small cat with all his semi corporeal form could muster. while murmuring reassurances an Encouragements to the small beast.

"Alyia, please be careful of the enemy behind you. I shall keep the small cat beast safe for the time being..." Xin's telepathic voice seemed to blend in with the music Alyia was humming.

(if the first glith falls ) Alyia spun to face the enemy behind her, slashing at it's chest.

"Who can tell me why these sick looking humans be causing ye so much trouble?! They don't look too tough!"

With a loud shout Barreel hacks the first gith he sees and impales it on his spikes, shaking like a dog to coat himself in even more gore.

(OOC Barreel attacks #18 and slams his armor spikes into it.)

Into The Darkness.............

A spell to his lips and a green ray of light flew from his hand towards the Limper, only to miss as the form dodged to the side.
These Robed being seemed to have abilities and senses beyond any enemy they had yet met. The limping Robed One turned to face Ulthok , the mage could see that it was about to cast a retaliatory attack.

But then the Githyanki soldier that had been knock to floor by the lightning bolt rose to continue the attack. Swinging its sword it hit upon Ulthok's chest. The protective clothing Ulthok wore as his armor helped save him but the blow forced him a few steps back.

Ulthok’s attention were now on the yellow creature that should have already been dead. This whole battle was just getting quite annoying …. spells not succeeding…… friends hurt…. Peri being charmed…. creatures keep appearing. The mage’s thoughts kept growing darker as his anger grew hotter. These things needed to die and it didn’t matter how. Then stepping back to keep out of the Gith’s reach the grime figure raised his hands, thumbs touching ..fingers spread. The mage released a fan of flame engulfing his attacker. As the spray of painful death poured out of the halfing he heard the door on the far side of the room clash open and a familure vioce rumbled into the room.

Shout louder lads
***DEATH FROM BELOW***

(casting Burning Hands)
(the flame may catch the wolves too)

One, two, three...

With a steely gaze, Cor met the Gith (#11) head on. The two hacked viciously at each other, but in the end it was Cor who triumphed. Twin strikes tore through the Gith's armour, as it fell to the ground. Cor readied himself for the next strike.

For this instant, there was none. Cor had fought off his Gith enemies, and once again had no targets next to him. Recalling what had happened the first time this happened, when the Gith had first teleported into this fight, he knew he had to take the fight to them. Ultok seemed to be in trouble, with a Gith and 4 wolves closing in on him.

When Cor took his first stride to help his long-time friend, the south door burst open in a barrage of splinters. Then a very familiar song followed: it was Bareel.

"Who can tell me why these sick looking humans be causing ye so much trouble?! They don't look too tough!"
While moving to help Ulthok, Cor playfully shouted back "Well cut these ones down, and I'm sure someone worthwhile will come your way." He smiled. For once, the impossible had happened; Bareel had not only managed to survive the orcs, he had arrived here to continue the fight. Cor paused a moment as Ulthok blasted fire at the Gith (#12), before striding forward to finish the job with his axe.

(OOC: Cor attacks Gith # 12)

Nasty limping stone thingy!

A cooling calm touched her mind. Somehow, a familiar presence that she had thought forever lost returned. The wild rage that gripped Siréne calmed and there the enchantress found herself again. Her own awareness mixed with the keen senses of the bestial form she wore as she took in the vile thing that stalked toward her.

Although she was once again herself, the enemy did not need to know that. As his limping form stalked forward the fur on her back instinctually rose in response to the threat. Edging herself around she dearly hoped he saw only an enraged tiger and not the witch within. With each step more of her enemy was revealed to her. He moved with the slow assuredness of a mountain and she knew with a certainty that his strength would be beyond her own. Still, she watched and waited for an opening.

((OOC: Siréne will be on the defensive. Trying to maneuver herself closer to Weaver. Since she is aware he is in a stone form, her attack will be meant to trip or knock him over. She will not instigate an attack unless he turns his back to her. However, if he attacks then so will she.))

The Eye of Odin

Rivers of pain ran through Roan's body and poured out onto the floor around him. The red-haired woman was alive, thanks be to Odin, but the spell had been a trade-off. Another hit like that and he would be on the floor himself. Taking a breath of inspiration from Rayne's valor, Roan knew what he had to do. Holding his clenched left fist over his heart, he began to utter a prayer. Not for himself, but for the wellbeing of the party. If this was to be his last stand, he would at least have Odin watch. With a voice like thunder over the mountains, Roan Fenstrider prayed to his god in an ancient tongue.

Omnes, inquam, tuus miles praeparatur ad proelium.' Hodie dici malum indueret arma victoria oratio
Veritas cingendacio mali victimam.

Like a response to his words, the door on the other side of the room shattered, and a voice boomed like a cannon. A song?

”We sing the song
Of the under halls
Of warriors strong
When duty calls
Our Orc foes straight down we'll MOW
Shout louder lads
DEATH FROM BELOW

Et induti loricam justitiæ,
Te custodem capitis mei ponam purus et sanctus aulum posui;
Utinam sic state in verbum tuum non est verum m malitia cor orationis vim protectione.

The words of the song interwove with the prayer. A shiver went through Roan's spine. By the Ravens, his prayer had been heard! He never stopped speaking to think, but wondered at the way the words spun together. He would have to rely on nothing but his armor for the moment, but the eye of Odin was on him now, and he knew that would be enough.

We sing the song
Of the dwarven king
Of warriors strong
Calceamenta posui pax
Utinam sic state in fde vestra virtutem, editus in lucem, et non ad omnia occurrit conlucent
His praises sing
The Orc foe shall suffer WOE
Shout louder lads
Istum scutum fidei,
Ignita paratum malum Sim dubium non est negatio, et sic nuda spiritualia dolo victum.
DEATH FROM BELOW Galeam posui virtus!
We sing the song Utinam sic animum tibi feruntur a malis cogitationibus non erit fortitudo. Of battles won Et gladium spiritus, Of warriors strong Ut praesto ancipites in manibus tuis possim exponere Verbum tentantes verbis malignis. When duty's done Who'll lift their ales and clammor HO! Per fidem vestram fortis induamur arma ferunt Shout louder lads Paratus ad hanc diem victoria in spiritualibus DEATH FROM BELOW

Late. Again.

Bringing up a hand to clear the blood out of the area around his eyes. No sense getting blinded in the heat of battle. His eyes lock on the blood-spattered companion of the Gith now left disemboweled on the ground, and—empowered by the singing of his. . . miniature companion (never let him hear you say that) he swings for another evisceration.

(OOC: Lothor attacks gith #9 twice with his +3 Greatsword of Wounding.)

Rd 6

With the start of this, the sixth round of battle, the outcome was yet still in doubt. For a party separated and out numbered they were once more holding their own.

For Weaver his last spell, one of curing, had been successful even through the pain and cramps the Half-Elf having the strength to say the words. However, with his next spell he was not as lucky as the pain was too intense for him to speak. The pain the Ranger/Bard thought seemed to be increasing with every passing second. Though he was not losing any life still he could feel the disease eating up his insides a little at a time……………………….

Roan to this point had fought in the melee style of his Ranger skills, had healed a downed Rayne and had taken all the Gith had to give. However, this time he decided to aid the whole party and at the same time strike a blow vs. their enemies. A quick spoken word and the spell of Prayer was cast giving all the party a better chance to hit and causing the party‘s adversary‘s worse in their attempts. However this once again opened him up to attack from two Gith as #9 and #20 moved in………………………

Rayne, once close to passing out and low on health, found herself revitalized and gaining new energy thanks to her Ranger/Cleric counterpart Roan. Her bow out of reach and her action this round would have consisted of standing up and gaining weapon to hand. Instead decided to continue to give aid in healing. Turning to Aliya, the closet of the party to her where she kneeled on the floor. She leaned towards the Fighter/Mage raised her arm and cast on the Half-Elvin girl the spell of Cure Moderate Wounds. At once Aliya could feel the gift of healing giving her the strength of added health as she attacked the Gith before her………

Ulthok having at one point only faced a lone Githyanki now faced him still but also four new combatants. As the large white wolves headed his and the party’s way his hands rose quickly casting the spell of Burning Hands.

With its spread, the magical flames easily caught the Gith before him (#12) dropping him finally, dead to the ground but it also caught three of the four wolves. With their fur smoking, two turned towards him and attacked. Yet again the Thief/Mages small size, aided by Roan’s spell of Prayer, helped him as a flurry of 2 bites and 4 claw attacks came his way with only a single claw of one wolf striking true………………..

For Lothor once near death now once more in this fight the big fighter was ready for payback. Lunging at Gith #9 as it closed on Roan Lothor did not gain the surprise as he had vs. #10 and was met great sword to great sword. Both fighters fast both came away with a wound yet nothing to put either down. Lothor and the Githyanki warrior locked up for the next round one on one………………….

Great full for Rayne’s gift Aliya had no time to thank her as she lunged at the Githyanki before her. #19. Her attacks meeting armor and more skill at defending then her attacking she still drove the Gith warrior back into the wall. Her armor preventing damage from a glancing blow from its first blow, the Githyanki’s second attack was a miss. However her fight with Gith #19 had left her open to attack by the Githyanki warrior now behind her #20.

The Gith having at first thought to attack Roan from behind quickly changed course and moved in to take advantage of a seemingly easier kill. However here it was that two forgotten party members now came into play. Xin seeing his master about to be hit and unable to defend herself at once was in the Gith’s face attacking with his miniature scimitar easily gaining a quick hit. As the Gith distracted by Xin’s attack attempted to strike the reduced Jinn, Niamedris quickly cast the spell of Trip causing the Gith to floor to the floor on its side hard. Its two-handed sword jarred from its hand it attempted to regain it and stand. For the moment Aliya forgotten………....

Barreel was in high heaven. Here he was in the midst of battle and once more reunited with the party who had most likely thought him dead after his charge vs. the hallway Orcs. Little did they know what he was made of, though his singing was not his greatest asset he had to admit. Now once again the Dwarf Berserker faced more enemies then one and as he charged at the nearest Gith he did not miss a verse.

With an ale in one hand
An axe in t'other
We're the best in the land
Ye shan't even bother!
You're blood shall FLOW!
Shout louder lads!
**DEATH FROM BELOW**

We'll fight-

"Come here you yellow bellied cowards!"

We'll fight to th'end
We'll neither break nor bend
In th'end we'll stand tall
For we shall kill you all!
And ye'll be a feast for CROWS!
Shout louder lads!
**DEATH FROM BELOW**

Not even pausing from swinging swing his axe and keeping the four Gith at bay, Barreel sidestepped to his left and quickly drove his body straight forward impaling the Gith now to his front #18. His berserk rage up and in full gear the Githyanki fighter found himself being literally carried impaled on the Dwarf Fighters chest. However this state did not last long as his three companions, trying to strike the Dwarf, only one hit was made, proceeded in their haste to shred their fellow Gith to pieces. Now carrying only dead weight Barreel faced only three Gith this next round…………….

With his victory over his Gith opponent Cor once again but for a brief moment found himself without an enemy to fight. Believing Ulthok to be in the greatest danger he started to move to help the Halfling but was intercepted by the last two remaining wolves. Cor using his axe was able to fight off the large animals even giving one a nice gash along its side. However, as the wolves moved to gain a better angle of attack Cor caught movement out of the corner of his eye. The large Human Knight moved! Barely getting his axe up in time to block the first two attacks Cor was hit by the third and forced once more backwards onto the wall. As the Human closed in, clearly no longer held, Cor heard him yell.

“Well met, no more magic Dwarf; let us finish this in a combat of arms!”……………..

For the tiger, it found that its jump had landed it before a large two-legged looking creature in armor not unlike many two legged creatures wore. Wishing only to get away this thing was in its way and so it attacked. Its claws struck the creature on its chest, its bite crushing down upon the neck, only to find hard stone. Without a pause in its stride, the large two-legged creature grabbed it and threw it crashing to the side, its focus clearly on Ulthok. The shock of the tigers landing stunning it for but a moment yet causing it to lose focus.

At once Sirene was there returning to control of her tiger form once more in charge of her actions, once more in this fight. As she looked up to see where she had landed, she found herself facing Dark Whisper, Peri perched upon her shoulder.

“Here kitty, kitty, let me give you a treat”

The female Sword-Wraith’s hand raised Sirene felt her tiger body slammed by five Magic Missiles their bite quite deep but not lethal. The Mage/Druid, now once more in full control faced a very deadly, yet not unbeatable, foe this next round……………

The Limper having dealt with the annoying druid turned tiger had only eyes for the short magic casting Halfling. As he reached close enough to attack Ulthok, he found his way suddenly blocked by the two large wolves. With no way to melee the Thief/Mage, he turned once more to magic himself. Not wanting to hit the two wolves, his sister would not be happy; as she had, he too cast forth the spell of Magic Missile. Flying fast and true the five spheres of magic slammed into Ulthok’s body………………

With most of the combatants having moved and attacked the last standing creature in the room, the larger then normal Gith, other then summoning more Githyanki to fight had to this point done nothing. Yet again, the large Githyanki, clearly some type of leader, did nothing but watch, as if waiting for something or the right moment to act. For now this was a blessing for the party, as the longer, he did nothing the better the parties chances to survive......

(DM OOC: Ok this weeks post is up and on a Sunday no less . Lets all welcome Sir Nibbly to the game as he is of course playing Barreel. Good posts everyone and I liked the way you interacted your prayer with Barreels song Schnozzle good job. Ok next post next Sunday. Map as norm tomorrow or Tuesday.)

Ummm What?

As the final words slip from Maggot’s lips his mind could not fight though the pain any longer. The small-deformed creatures faded from view with agonizing screams. Maggot rolled onto his back, his hand fell upon his chest, and he shifts his head to look skyward. “Brother is this to be the end?” Maggot then began to use his own mind to calm him self and to fight back the pain that seemed to run rampant through every portion of his body. He slowly shakes his head no when there is the small jangling of steel in his ear…

He moves his hand to his ear and his fingers fall upon it. A tear slips from the side of his eyes as they close. Maggot calls fourth the Valkyrie to kill the Limper and take him home.

...

The heat of battle hung thick in the air. Despite Roan's respite from the bloodshed he felt as though the air itself was out to suffocate him. His prayer had wrought some effect on the battle; Odin was here now, watching them. The arrival of that walking siege engine of a dwarf had proven that already, and despite the Gith's reinforcements Roan was beginning to feel that they had the upper hand. With conscious effort the ranger of the one eyed god raised his weapon again and struck out at the nearest enemy.

What else to do for a god but dance?
[[OOC: Will attack #9 or #20, whichever looks closer to death.]]

Violence Returned

Searing pain came as bolts of pure magical energy hurtled into her feline body. It was a simple spell but it was ever highly effective. With a low growl, Siréne turned her gaze upon the smug woman before her. She longed to return the wretched woman's spell with one of her own. With the power of the Lady of Retribution coursing through her, she could unleash a storm of destruction to swallow the woman. Yet here and now she could not for fear of harming the little dragonette. It was a well played scheme, for she now faced two spellthrowers and would be unable to throw one of her own. Still, this form she had taken was strong and it hungered for blood. It was time to let the hunter do what it desired. With a roar that promised death, Siréne leapt towards at the woman and attacked.

Run Away.....Er......A Stratigic Retreat.........

The spray of fire had done its job to drop the yellow faced warrior. But no sooner had it gone down then two Winter Wolves were there to take its place. Preparing to address these he is slammed with five strikes of pain. The hooded thing that has side stepped destruction had hit him with magic missiles.

Ulthok was hurt badly and weakening rapidly. There was not enough strength left in him to fight off all three of these foes. With the other party members engaged in their own battles escape was now his only option. So before he could be attacked again the mage uttered the simple words and vanished.

The small mage reappeared behind the middle table by the wall. Here he would crouch trying to remain unseen, taking cover to give him time to ingest a potion of extra healing thus allowing him to reenter the battle.
