My Paladin

A paladin strode beside me, Walking these paths of life, These paths of dreams at my side. His shining blade held aloft, Blazing in the bright sun, Casting a light of its own. He fought the shadows, Supporting me when I was weak, His strong arm never failing. When the sky was dark, Clouded by anger and hate, He stood firm, Watching over me, Protecting me. Now as the dawn breaks once more, As the sky glows with new light, My paladin has fallen, And shall not rise again. When I see his eyes, They still shine, Their glory never dulled, I know that all things must pass, And go to that better place. So may the birds sing, In remembrance of his glory, May the sun shine, In remembrance of his blade. May my heart hold firm, In remembrance of his strength, And may I always remember, This knight of good, Who strode beside me.
