Well the retreat in my mind is to buy time to heal Sirene.
Tann doesn't give us anything that we can't handle but the situation can turn against us, a TPK could happen if we get bad rolls on the dice.
We can take little time to talk more about what to try.
This is one of the highesst level dungeon games and encounters require greater care and skill.
Lookup information on how the kill mind flayers.
Think creatively on the powers your character has.
I am open to all ideas.
If we retreat we can maybe find a different way to the forge, or just head for the island. Either way the big baddy know we are here and is after us. We were leadinto this trap and need to get out of it one way or another.
Tann...I think we need another week to talk and plan more.
We need to analize this information about the new enemies....
Standing now revealed where once there had been shadow where seven new foes. To both the East and the West ends stood two ogres (4 total) manning a crew served bow which was clearly the source of the large arrows which had taken Sirene down. However his attention was quickly brought to the center of this new enemy group as there stood three of the parties most hated foes… Illithids….
Ulthok could see that the foremost Mind Flayer was at once a major concern as it was clearly two and a half times the size of the Illithids to its side. The halfling Thief/Mage could see many other differences then just the creatures larger size. It’s head, though still having the four tentacles and fanged mouth, now had a third eye in the middle of its forehead in between a set of horns, in between the tentacles framing its mouth in the creatures normal way, now there was a large monkey looking nose, to the side of its head wing type crests of bone. The whole head easily resembling the symbol of the amulet hanging from it’s neck, a symbol the party had seen before…….
Tann, are the two Mind Flayer to the sides Human size orDwarv sized? Those macking the Big Illithid either slightly larger than human or Giant.
We saw that Ironcraw could be shaken loose of his control spell, something to think about.
I talked to Keeper in a PM about his move tp PA and mentioned we might be able to escape through the mine shaft to the left on the map insted of going back up the tunnel, just another choice.
I just wanted to first apologize for taking this long to once again respond. The Inn has, in the last two weeks or so, been hit with a massive wave of hack attempts so it has been down consistently. Though I have been able to get access to the Inn at times I have had no time to log on and answer your questions. Olan has implamented some new hack security so hopefully this type of hack attempts will be far and few, Ok now answers.,
Tann, are the two Mind Flayer to the sides Human size or Dwarf sized? Those making the Big Illithid either slightly larger than human or Giant. They are normal sized 6' tall, so tall human. The large Mind Flayer is roughly the size of a Verbeeg 8½' to 10' tall so he falls in the lesser giant category.
Tann is there a map of the tunnel? We would remember the turns so we turns so we could get around a corner. You don’t really need a map, you should have it semi-memorized in your head. Also you still have two living Dwarves that can get you where you want to go. They followed Ironclaw as he was in charge, but with his “betrayal”, they can easily lead you throughout the dwarf stronghold, including to the forge itself, if you still want to attempt to reach it.
Did Arandur take any HP damage? Sounds like he was hit by the dwarf. Yes he took a total of 7 points of damage. All damage taken is posted on the Trilogy War Characters topic in the Q/A thread next to your characters name.
Tann doesn't give us anything that we can't handle but the situation can turn against us, a TPK could happen if we get bad rolls on the dice. Odyson is correct, never once have I ever given you all a task, test, or put you in a battle you could not get out of using your skills or magical items at hand.
Ok if I missed a question please post it again and I'll gladly answer within your need to know
Also until a majority of players post, I will not do so, so take the time you need to decide your next move.
So, this is the first time in awhile that I have been able to get on the site.
i'm still not sure I would run away, but since that seems to be the will of the party - away it is. I assume Lothor will shoot his bow, then run - trying to guard the parties back. He has a reasonable chance to kill a Derro if he hits. I suspect he would just injure the big stuff. Suggestions?
For the big picture, I think we need to revive Serene and then find another path to the forge. they likely know we are going there since what-his-name was a traitor. The pther consideration - is any attrmpt to be made to free him from the spell?
Ok seems like the old girl is up and running kinda scary there for awhile.
A welcome back to Schnozzle who will be rejoining the game as one of the two still living Dwarf's allied with the party and creating a totally new character. Please give him some idea of what type of character the party could use the most. Remember there are no class/race limitations so any type of character is thus possible.
Embarrassed to ask, but it looks like I'm going to need a little help with my character. 2e is incredibly arcane compared to 5th Edition, even compared to 3.5 it's a lot of work. If anyone can help me out, that would greatly speed things along and get me in this game.
I was building a cleric, but got lost in the weeds and accidentally closed a form fillable PDF tab.
