an experiment

I had an idea, and I was looking for a little bit of feedback.

I thought about opening up a game that had no plot line, but was merely a setting, like a tavern. This thread would be open to everyone. You could bring in character concepts and try them out on the NPCs. This would also be a good place for anyone who wants to improve their RPG skills outside of an actual game, or for someone who doesn't have the time to commit to a game but still wants to role play.

Events would come and go at the tavern, being updated on a regular basis with different NPC, meals lists, bands, etc, and any contact with NPCs would be responded to. Players have the potential to meet up with eachother and begin a seperate adventure in a different thread. Everything would be fleshed out so as to provide maximum interaction.

Thoughts?

Well, while the idea is awesome, and actually intriguing, I'm afraid someone beat you to it slightly.

That said, that was one of my favourite free-form games ever, and if you did something similiar (or slightly similiar, or...similiar) I'm sure it would be well recieved.

Also, bears.

yup

Okay, not so new.
Ish.

I'm looking over the thread, and that's the general intention -- but with actual DM posts. NPCs roaming around for interaction, and passing of time. (but also having people take liberties with some NPCs and write them up themselves)

Thanks, Grugg. *grins* Maybe I'll knock it out this weekend.

an after note

.... that is, if other people are interested.

Though it might be fun for the staff to just bug the grugg.

I think I would really enjoy something like this. I wouldn't mind improving my RPG skills either. =3

I say...

...take that idea and post it up, Celeste! Sounds like a bit of freeform fun that everyone could get in to. I'm sure I could come up with a character or seven that might pass through said tavern/inn from time to time...

Also, I say... Who is this Sandrana and how in the heck did I miss a newbie?!?!?

*facelick* Welcome to the Inn, Sandrana... You've got a proper one of those coming sooner or later.

Sounds great!

So when can we expect this to start? Sounds like it is right up my alley! Will be watching for it.

Hyup

I'm with Eol and the rest of the bunch here. Do go ahead and start a free-form game for it. The idea is not new, but it's a good one. We've had tavern games a few times before, but those are either long gone or at least not frequently played anymore.

I for one would certainly pop in with a character or three.

sweet. Let's play.

Ahh, thanks for the show of interest! I'll be working on the setting today, and hopefully get that up with a Q&A section for giggles.

sounds good

Seems like a good place to get a feel for the character I've been working around in my head.

Take 2

I’ve got the Bleeding Lute back up and running. I’ve advanced it a few months so we can start fresh, and I will keep a better eye on the ‘ol girl from here on out. I think I may give a warning or two here and there before I advance the timeline, but it’ll only be a day at a time. This will also depend on what’s happening in the Lute at the time as well ~ I may just hold off on it for a while.

Please see The Bleeding Lute Q&A for rules.

Have fun!
