Oh, I've no doubt. My contention was that it was like: embrace, dialogue (2 seconds worth), credits. No panning away, no drawn-out focus on his face, nothing. Just an immediate and jarring cut to credits.

I blame that on bad editing... kind of like the unexplained/unclarified time-jumps. Assuming there is going to be a season 2, it's my hope that they do a bit better with that.

So tell me

I have not read the books nor played the games I keep hearing reviews that say it is impossible to follow if you do not have the background knowledge.

agree? Disagree?

Disagree

It's a bit disorienting in that there are multiple timelines in play and they jump from one to the other without explaining it but I don't think you need to be familiar with the source material in order to follow the show. Just be prepared for a few "wait...what?" moments.

I agree with Robert. I am unfamiliar with the books and the game. Never read them and never played it. I followed what was going on but there were some challenges

read the first two books...

...but it seems like it was ages ago. Never played the games (although, now, I kind of want to). I followed it well enough but, even being vaguely familiar with the source material, I found the "unexplained" timejumps disorienting. I think that was the worst part of the presentation, overall... the CGI came in second.  Magic effects were pretty cool, tbh, but creature rendering was "straight to VHS quality" in most cases.
