Rinrin was grateful to her hosts for giving her the privacy of the garden to herself. Throughout the meal following the song, she could not help but glance towards its entrance every so often. And no sooner had she stepped through the entrance did she feel completely at peace among the tranquillity it emanated. Curiously, she felt it most strongly in the centre clearing of the garden.

Here she found her surroundings brilliantly lit by a beautiful white fountain. In its gentle bubbling and the reflections on the pool surrounding it, Rinrin could feel the warming presence of her goddess. She was calm there, and a wondering smile silently radiated her joy as she lingered.

Before Rinrin could react, the quiet serenity of the garden was interrupted by Conjori. He had run towards a nestle of trees along the side of the clearing, but before the young cleric could wonder as to why, a mystical, deer-like creature stepped out from the trees. She could feel the presence of her Goddess flowing through it. Rinrin could not bring her eyes from it. The creature lowered it’s head, and it’s nose touched Conjori's up-reaching one, and he licked it gently and lovingly, as if he knew this creature and adored it.

The young gnome felt honoured just to stand in the creature's presence. It had lifted its head and regarded the small woman; each stood facing the other, unmoving. Whatever its precise being, Rinrin knew...felt, even, that the creature was holy. She knew she was grinning from ear to ear in happiness...if there was ever a sign from her goddess that she was doing well with her life and her responsibility, this had to be it. As suddenly as it had come, it turned from Conjori's side and disappeared into the shadows. Conjori returned, nuzzling her hand, and they were alone.

Somehow, Rinrin knew she would not find the creature again. It was gone, but the joy it had left in Rinrin was not. She looked down to her dog and hugged him, wondering what he knew of that particular being. She stood up again, looking Conjori over before deciding to look about the garden some more.

Particularly, she wanted to see where the deer-figure had appeared, and if there was anything interesting in the direction it had left, or in the rest of the garden. She would have to be more alert now...perhaps her Goddess meant for her to find even more than just tranquillity in her holy garden? To pass the time while she did this, she spoke with Conjori. Perhaps, as she was thinking just a moment before, he knew something more about the holy figure.

((Speak With Animals ability...I'm fairly certain it's not used up at the moment?))

Subject: yay ^_^ singing

Rinrin sat in silence as Jenine sang her song, enjoying both the wonderful food that was served to her as well as the beautiful verses. Her fellow gnome was certainly an accomplished singer! When she had finished, Rinrin clapped so heartily her hands stung.

"A beautiful song Jenine!"

Boffi said as he handed her a plate of her own food.

"Surely I felt the very presence of Inenhalla in yonder garden during your song!"

Rinrin could not deny that statement; she had felt the kind presence as well - it made her all the more proud of her new friend's song.

"Friend Rinrin! What think you? Will the Elders like it? Would it please the Goddesses?"

Jenine was studying Rinrin hopefully.

"hahahee! Your song was absolutely beautiful, Jenine!" Rinrin exclaimed, her glee apparent. "Well played, well versed, and well sung! I must confirm Boffi's own words; Inenhalla surely heard your wondrous song. I felt the kind mother's presence in the garden myself."

Even more than before, Rinrin wished to go take a stroll through the garden of her Goddess. She gave Jenine a warm and truly heart-felt smile.

"I am certain that the Elders of your Family will love your song, and I have no doubt it will please the Goddesses! It really is a lovely rendition, well done!"

Rinrin paused for a moment, taking a deep breath to still her giggling before continuing - she had been speaking so quickly in all her excitement!

"Also, the feeling from the garden reminds me, dear friends. I've not yet had a chance to stroll through it; perhaps once everyone has finished with this tasty meal (absolutely delicious, by the way, thank you!) that may be done? My companions and I have been travelling through the desert, so it has been quite a while since I've seen a garden so pretty."

Subject: should I stay or should I go now....

Needless to say, Rinrin was glad to hear all was well in Gnomefeld, and her eyes lit up at the mention of the river and Silvergrape Whine. She had enjoyed a few visits to the area in her youth, and she remembered the taste of the delicious whine as well as any other drink to be remembered.

After Boffi had finished speaking, a shrill voice called out from behind him, "Oh Boffi you speak so much! What say we open a bottle and share it with our guest!"

She pats the log beside her, inviting Rinrin to sit. At the fire, a few gnomes are currently placing racks and cooking meats over the flames.

"You should stay for a meal! My name is Jenine, by the way!"

Rinrin sat down where Jenine gestured. It was starting to get late, and it had been her suggestion to meet at the inn...but she did need dinner. She giggled as even Conjori's nose perked upon seeing the meat set out over the fire. She was sure the others would be busy this night, anyways. It was a big city...why wouldn't they be out late as well? She smiled at the gnomes around her, laughing merrily.

"Silvergrape Whine, you say? I remember that fine taste well! I imagine their willingness stems from the seeming lack of whine crop here. A few sips into their first bottle, though, and it must bloom into something more than that! If you'll have my company for this fireside meal, it will gladly be given in return. I must thank you all for your kindness; oh how nice to be in the company of gnomes again!"

Conjori barked his delight, his own mood feeding off of the jovial words of his mistress. He sat next to Rinrin, tail wagging happily. She couldn't help but think his expression a priceless one. If it wasn't for his obvious dog appearance, one would think he was a part of the gathering, and every bit as involved in the conversation.

Her face in a grin, Rinrin felt required to add, "If it isn't too much trouble, might a bit of the meal be spared for my companion here, as well? Conjori may look to be a soft little beast, but he's been through thick and thin with me. Shall we have a story with our meal? I'm not much of a bard, myself, nor have I seen enough years to hold a vast log of stories to tell. Are any of you particularly fond of words, I wonder? Though I will have to return to the inn and my companions at some time, the night is still young, is it not?"

((oh man, this is rubbish...but I guess it will do. Onward ho!))

Subject: Gnomes!!

After having eagerly pressed through the crowds of people for so long, Rinrin could not contain her joy upon seeing the buildings of her people pop up before her. She giggled to herself, amused at the thought that they could never loom up, as the huge white buildings that made up the rest of the city would do. They were not built for the taller people - they were built for her own, and she missed the cozy feeling that even just being in their presence brought her.

As she drew nearer, she saw a group of 6 of her fellow gnomes gathered around a fire pit, and it was not soon after that they spotted her. A wave of nostalgia took her as they each came up to her, one by one hugging her in welcome. There was a certain politeness in the ways of the gnomes that the big folk seemed to lack; it was more than enough to set Rinrin smiling happily, her laughter only just contained beneath the surface. Conjori, sensing the good cheer surrounding his master, was quick to say his own hellos to the group: licking hands, and faces where allowed, and enjoying any attention he could garner.

Amidst the bright, beautiful colours of the buildings and the clothing of her fellows, not to mention what she could see of the beautiful garden and the intricately carved Owl statues, Rinrin almost did not notice the eldest of her new acquaintances asking her a question.

"What brings a Priestess of the Mother to our humble dwelling?" Boffi was saying. The young gnome turned her bright eyes to him.

"Even if your dwelling were the most humble in existence, it is far more welcome than the tall, lifeless walls of the big folk," she said to him, meaning every word despite her giggles. "My name is Rinrin, and that is my partner, Conjori. I've come for simple reasons, though. To pay my respects to Inenhalla, of course - I wonder if I may have a guide through the lovely garden guarded by her sacred sentries? - but also I wish to hear of any news from Gnomefeld, and to see if there is any work I may do to help out my fellows while I am here in El Jalnine, and to help fund the remainder of my travels, though I know not how long it will be. I journeyed from our homeland a while past now, leaving with the blessing of my family."

She went on to briefly describe her journey thus far and the trials she had faced with the party, though she left off the most intricate details of the reason for the group's mission, laughing and smiling as she did so. "We've been through a lot, but it has brought me ever closer to my faith in the Mother," Rinrin said at last, with a glance to the Owls. Even with eyes of stone, their gazes was full of wisdom, and ever-watchful of the area before them. "She takes careful watch over all creatures, and has never been unfaithful to those who love her guidance."

By now, Conjori had returned to sit at her own feet, enjoying a playful scratching at his ears. Smiling at her hosts, she couldn't help but wonder what it was the group did here in El Jalnine, and it wasn't long after that the question had left her mouth.

"If there's any work Conjori and I can do to asist, we would be more than grateful - although I do wonder, what it is that you all do, and how each of you came to be here?"

Subject: Okay..so tomorrow and not tonight...*hides*

The sacrifice and their reception afterwards went well, although Rinrin doubted they would attempt to properly raise the cattle.

The following morning the party left the Kelzonians, following a rather pretty river to the beautiful city of El Janine. Here they would have some time to spend doing as they pleased. Just in case things got hectic, Rinrin decided to address the group first:

"We should find an inn for us all to stay in, and we can meet up later on tonight and decide just how long we're going to stay here?"

After saying that, whether the others reply to her or not, Rinrin then addressed the guards, after Elandor had his reply (kepping in mind the location of the barracks for her own reference).

"Good day! I wonder if you could list for us the various inns in the city? I would also like to know if there's any sort of gnomish population in the city? Any inventors or something of the like that you could direct me to? And if you could direct me to the church of Inenhalla, I would be most grateful."

It had been awhile since she had spoken to any of her own kind, and they would perhaps have some news of her homeland. She hadn't been gone long, but nor was she used to being away; she did wonder what was going on there, and she missed her people. Gomes seemed to her to have a decidedly different mindset than the other races she had encountered. If there happened to be some thoughtful inventor she could assist for the day, it would do as a nice reminder. If that didn't prove fruitful, she could always see if she could be of use at the local barracks or her deity's church.

Whatever she ended up doing, she would certainly be paying respects to her goddess at some point. It was a large city, too, but Rinrin was sure she could manage to make her way around it with the help of Conjori. Scratching him under the chin, she waited for the guard's reply, and for the group's decision on a rendevou point.

Rinrin, astride Conjori, followed Elandor and Teros down to the farm, wondering what on earth should be said. Thankfully, Elandor went ahead and spoke for them. Teros stood next to her and her dog, sternly looking over the two men before them. Rinrin thought it was a bit menacing, and probably not the best way to go about acquiring a peaceful trading agreement.

With that in mind, she nodded her head towards the two before them in greeting, giving them a friendly smile after Elandor's words. She kept her hand near the handle of her morningstar, but only just. If all went well, there shouldn't be any trouble and she hoped that would be the case.

Still smiling, she waited patiently for the farmers' response, wondering what it was Elandor was planning on saying next.

Rinrin was grateful to hear that their task in return for their survival was as simple as retreiving two bulls, however it still didn't sit well with her. How tough were the farmers, or the cattle, for a party of Kelzonians to need the help of bedraggled travellers in acquiring two for sacrifice? It was their duty, however, she supposed, but it was not only that...the cattle were animals, and as a cleric of Inenhalla - and one devoted to the animals of this world - it just didn't lay right in her stomach.

As Damien pointed out, however, they were raised to be slaughtered in the end. This was simply a matter of them dying for a different cause, or at least that's what she told herself. Rinrin swallowed her unease and set herself to the task, even smiling a little at Damien's renewed energetic flare. They owed the Kelzonians their life, after all, and they had asked to repay the debt.

Calmly, Rinrin climbed up onto Conjori and the two companions set out quietly with the rest of the raiding party. Elandor voiced a thought behind her - to buy the cows instead of steal them - but she didn't know what should be done.

"In either case," she said quietly, "Conjori and I can be a help in either herding or coaxing the poor beasts along."

Rinrin was about to respond when Elandor burst in a rush of words. The woman only caught bits of what he had said, but she imagined that the Kelzonians didn't quite fare so well.

She kept silent her giggling at the Kender's antics and nodded her own agreement when he simplified it to "We will help you." She figured they were better off helping with whatever it was the Kelzonians had to do in return for the dragon eel's decision than feeding the beast with one of their own party.

Subject: well...I can't speak Ralnarian, so diplomatic lady-gnome, away!

The dragon eel had let them live! Rinrin's relief was so great that she nearly burst out in laughter before she realised just who the lizard-like people were: Kelzonians.

Conjori, however, was blatantly unaware of their current position; simply overjoyed to be out of the water. He made it known to the small gnome by planting his large wet tongue straight on her cheek. Rinrin couldn't help but chuckle, though she quickly stopped herself, patting the dog on the head and whispering words of caution to him.

Looking around at them with wet hair still hanging over bits of her face, which was plastered with a huge grin, Rinrin took it upon herself to thank them, "Thank you very much, Sirs!", the instant she was able. She couldn't help it - cheating death once was more than enough to make her happy, let alone twice in a short period of time. She could have hugged them, if it wasn't for their serious-looking expressions.

One of the Kelzonians spoke, though she knew not which.

"een our water yew bee. Hawyy? Shood note be een Kelzonian lands."

It took her a moment to make out what had been said, but Teros had already taken the initiative in speaking with them by asking if they spoke Ralnarian. At the nod in response, he continued in his unfamiliar language. While the gnome knew he probably had his own reasons for doing so, Rinrin did not appreciate it. The Kelzonians could clearly speak Common...and it would have been far better for the group, given her little knowlege of the beings, if they had remained speaking with it, understanding and otherwise.

She stepped up so that she was standing next to Teros, feet squelching a bit at each step, and bowed respectfully to them. She knew very well that they owed the Kelzonians their life.

"Pardon me," she interruped after Teros bowed at the end of his words. She made sure she spoke carefully, in a respectful manner, so that she could be sure to be understood. "I don't know what he just said to you, but I am honoured to meet you. My name is Rinrin Seneavar. I'm sure we are all sorry to be intruding upon your lands, though we had no choice but to come this way in order to flee a band of dishonourable men...I'm not sure how to even begin to repay you, though if it is possible, our duty requires that we do not remain here long."

Rinrin gestured towards Damien and his injured, bleeding leg, before continuing, "Might I be allowed to tend to my friend?"

((If yes, Rinrin walks over to Damien, casting whichever healing spell will be sufficient, as I havn't used any of them yet, after she finishes speaking.))(((Also, a "thankyou-very-much" here, with a quick bow, if they say I can go heal Damien)))

"Please, tell us what we might do, if anything, to repay your kindness, and for whatever hardship might have been placed upon you by our intrusion. Our group simply wishes to pass through; we meant the dragon eel no undue harm, and we are in your debt for your most generous intervention."

Subject: damnable water...

It didn't take long before the monster proclaimed its disdain for the gods. Rinrin tried to keep her mind sharp, difficult but not impossible even as the monster's head plunged back into the sea; even as the remains of the boat were shattered and the group flung into the water.

A horn sounded from the distant shore, and the small gnome, clinging to her dear Conjori, glanced over to see a boat-like object heading towards them. It was very clearly armed, and the creatures on the boat appeared to be reptilian in nature. Rinrin allowed herself to hope they were friendly, calling out a prayer to Inenhalla in her head.

Her prayer was cut short. The Dragon Eel had resurface, quite close to Rinrin, too! It took her a moment to realize, but Damien was caught in its beak, unable to escape. Thinking quickly, she tried to think of what to do. There was no way of knowing if the reptilian beings coming towards them were friendly, and they more or less blocked the way to the shore. Regardless, Damien was in danger whether they swam that way or not, and the boat was heading towards them as fast as it seemed to be able. They had to fight it.

She took a deep breath and concentrated all her willpower to thoughts of her goddess and the magic she was about to perform. A sea cat ((Nature's Ally IV)) was what they needed. Persistent and perilous, the creature would be a great help in diverting the beast's attention away from the group.

With that done ((whether it worked or not)), Rinrin quickly pulled a leather thong out, kicking frantically with her legs to stay afloat as she tied it onto her wrist ((material component)). With that done, she turned her head to face the monster, and Damien. Hopefully things would turn out alright.

((Rinrin's going to cast Freedom of Movement - on Damien, if she can reach enough to touch him, or on Scourge (as he seems the best choice to Rinrin, being big as he is and probably the best help in the current situation with the huge monster before them..) after that's done, or at least tried..damn water...she'll try to find out if the reptilian creatures (as I assume they will be closer) are friendly or not by making an attempt at speaking with them (diplomacy + charisma ftw??? *hope*). If the situation somehow develops to the point where casting 'searing light' is called for, she will do so.))

Subject: gynourmous dragon-eel, eh?

Rinrin was relieved that, at least when they first got to the edge of the water, they seemed to be in the clear of most danger. The plan to get away from Ihsan and his gang seemed to be working thus far. Besides, there was no other choice for them but to take the only boat, so if they were followed it wouldn't be that far.

Once they were on their way, and after a worryingly close encounter with a waterfall that left them soaked and cold, they felt the thirst and exhaustion sink in. Rinrin gave Conjori's damp head a pat. She could only hope their trouble for that day was over with - she was so exhausted that she could barely find the energy to crane her head up and marvel at the giant glowing mushrooms and slick cave walls. She poured a bit of water from her waterskin into her hand for her companion, who was quick to lap it up and plant a nice, wet kiss on the small gnome's face in thanks. Laughing, she took a quick swallow herself before putting it away to tide her over for the time being. Sure, they were surrounded by water - but Rinrin didn't really trust it. They could vaguely make out a shoreline in the distance - complete with a gate and two structures that appeared to be guard towers. Rinrin prayed to Inenhalla, if she could hear them from this underground passage, that the group would make it there, and out, safely.

Moments later, the group encountered even more of a reason to find the water untrustworthy than its dark, unknown depths as something suddenly caused the boat to shake and wobble. Conjori barked nervously, then quickly froze in terror. His teeth were bared, but he was silent, his tail dutifully tucked between his legs. Rinrin also froze, one hand on her dog and one on the boat, eyes wide at the creature that was before them.

It was a good thing she held on tightly to both her companion and the boat, too, because a moment later the serpentine body that had appeared had submerged itself, only to come back up and fling the front end of their small boat into the air, tossing Vilyamar behind them. He was halfway returned to the boat when thing - looking like some odd cross between an eel and a dragon - spoke!

"Ye shalt feed mine gullet before thou shalt pass. I shalt claim wich of ye dies to provide thous gift."

The next second Rinrin found herself half-submerged, the nose of the boat ruined and the rest of it slowly sinking. Conjori kept himself supported by the boat as long as possible. Unable to stay in one place and tread water, he would be forced to either do circles around Rinrin or swim towards shore once it fell from under him. Rinrin was a good enough swimmer that she could help him for a little while, but she was small and already quite tired. Even with the beast before them, all her brain could focus on was reaching the shore safely.

Before waiting for a response, too, it seemed that the intelligent beast was about to take Teros as its chosen gift. Mind frozen, all she could do was watch. Thankfully, Teros managed to speak for them, calling the shining monster a Dragon Eel, and cause it to pause in its attack. Rearing back to a great height, it spoke again.

"Servants of the Gods? I have partaken of few of them in mine day. Yet ye art the first to declare thyself on ‘holy quest’. If thou lies to me, I shall devour all of thee. Prove thy quest."

Teros replied again, telling the dragon eel of the Hilt of Light and the Talisman of Deliverance, asking Elandor and Vilyamar to show them to the beast. Rinrin prayed to Inenhalla that it would be cautious of the gods and accept those items as proof of their holy quest.

No harm, no crime indeed Rinrin thought. The small gnome looked to her dog, his shining eyes all she needed to know his confidence in her. With a deep breath, she ignored the dark tone of his voice and put on her most charming smile.

"So, all you're wanting are the shields? Well, there's no harm in that, as you say. I think we have a deal, then!" Rinrin supressed a tiny laugh and gave Conjori a pat on the head.

"We'll be back in no time, just be ready to lift us out with the treasure, yeah?"

Subject: silly little chest holding wonderful shinies...

The crumbling of the demon-wall was a sight to behold...at least before it became to bright to look at! Such a spectacular display of light leaving the party in darkness was a bit of a dissapointment to Rinrin. She had to admit she was expecting something at least a little bit more extravagant - especially in the room that was revealed. The small dusty chest seemed rather insignificant compared to what was done to reach it.

Elandor and Teros both knelt in front of the chest, clearly eager to see what was inside. Rinrin dearly wished to see as well, but she was still in an unreal frame of mind, thinking that, perhaps, if she poked the chest, the room would suddenly turn into the fantastically decorated room that she had imagined. The near-empty, dusty place was preferable to someplace teeming with enemies, however.

While she was thinking all this, the chest had been opened to reveal an entrancing object. Elandor picked it up, and no sooner had he done so than his eyes went blank. His senses returned momentarily, and the entire group huddled around, excited upon hearing/discovering what the 'plate' revealed to them. Conjori sniffed the colourful object dubiously, tensing when Rinrin herself went to place her hand on it. It truely was an experience unlike anything the small gnome had ever encountered before! She really was flying!!

After everyone had a turn with the 'vision' the plate gave them ((assuming everyone does so)), Rinrin looked around at everyone, her eyes bright and cheerful.

"I guess that's where we have to go next, then, huh? I wonder how you get to the bottom of the sea safely?? And I wonder what goes in the cups...maybe God Stones fit there? What do you all think?"

((Sorry if this is crap...I think it covers everything.))

"Well," Rinrin admitted, "I suppose there's not neccessarily hell either way, but there is the possibility. Even if it is human error, as you say. And if that's true...that it's meant to keep people out, what is it that makes us so privilaged to go in? As long as people can make and change decisions for themselves, the Gods..." she lifted a hand to hold the silver symbol of Inenhalla hanging around her neck and let out a small sigh.

"They can only decide so much of our fate and responsibilities. There are too many different types of hell in our world, brought about by so many varying things. It might not be an evil itself that lies beyond the wall, but a living being passing through it may create one, or at least the chance of one. I guess you all are right, though. We have no need to go off exploring."

Through speaking, the small gnome gave her dog a pat on the head and smiled up at the group.

"So...shall we be going, then?"

Once the light had turned away, Rinrin brought herself up, motioning for Conjori to do the same before climbing up to perch on his back. The two companions followed Teros out of the room, wondering what it was Elandor was so excited about.

Conjori padded carefully over to the kender, into the mouth of the cavern he had discovered. Elandor was eagerly suggesting that the party explored there first, before proceeding on to the statue and the demon wall.

The small gnome had to agree - the wall would stay shut until they opened it, what if something came from in here behind them, the party completely unawares? Then they would be facing both that and whatever was behind the demon wall, which Rinrin figured would probably be something nasty.

She waited patiently for Vilyamar to voice his opinion before speaking herself, calmly petting Conjori's neck.

"I think we should explore it. For precisely that reason, too, Vilyamar. We should be the ones seeking hell, not it seeking us. The hell from the statue and the wall is going to stay behind that wall until we want to go in and get it. If there's a hell at the end of this cavern, it could come out and get us at any time while we're facing the other hell...and that wouldn't be very good back-watching, I think...besides, we might not even get the chance to come back here! We know we'll go back there, though...we have to! What does everyone else think?"

A giggle escaped as she finished with a grin, setting Conjori's tail wagging now that his mistress was back to normal after the light disruption.

Rinrin was in a flurry of thoughts. Awe of this magnificent room and it's many mirror-shields lining the walls; confusion at the statue's lack of a face; amazement at the fantastic result of their solution to the puzzle the room presented. Out of respect for Lavuria, the small cleric bowed her head as the beautiful face took shape and water fell from above like glowing rain.

The scene before them was so far beyond words, Rinrin could not surpress a small laugh of excitement. A small splash later, and even the Goddess' bowl was glowing radiantly! The gnome hugged Conjori to her. That must be what they needed to finish the riddle from the other room! Marie hurried forward to grab the magnifent diamond, revealing it to indeed be the proper shape to fit into the shield. Not a moment later, Elandor was going on about the diamond, only to go off in exploration of the black hole they had passed before entering the room. Lucky for him, too, Rinrin thought, as he missed what happened next.

She wasn't sure what was said, or why. She was still a new addition to the group, as it was. All she knew was that Teros had given Marie a scary look earlier, and now he was shouting something at Damien. While all of it probably had good reason, Rinrin felt the smile fade from her face out of concern for her friends. She felt Conjori tense up at Teros' outburst as well, but there was no time to reflect on it, as the room was suddenly thrown into dazzling white light the instant Teros had turned his back to Damien and placed the diamond in its proper place.

A cry of surprise escaped her lips as the light blinded her before she could shut her eyes. She heard a yelp issue from Conjori in the same moment and felt him bring his head to the ground in an attempt to cover his face with his huge paws. Worry coursed through Rinrin. Keeping her eyes shut, she knelt down next to her companion, hugging his face to her body so his eyes would be in greater darkness than his lids alone could offer. Concern for her dog at the top of her mind, followed closely by alarm at the harsh-sounding Ralnarian words moments earlier, the normally jubilant gnome shouted angrily at Teros.

"What are you thinking?!? Point it down, take the diamond back out, something! The statue's riddle asked for the light to drive away his enemy, not to blind those solving it!"

Surprised at her own outburst, Rinrin took a deep breath and buried her face in Conjori's neck, waiting until it was dark enough to look up again.
