Topic: Greeting from a new guy
Subject: Question

I notice that the "add a new topic" function is not present for Archive pages. Assuming that one was interested in posting something here, how might this be accomplished?

Low level campaign in the new year? That is exactly what I was hoping for. Already looking forward to it. Out of curiosity, bu 'old school' do you mean Basic D&D, First Edition AD&D, or Second Edition AD&D?

... I don't know how to fix it!

Hey, look. Now I've got yours, too. At this rate, I should be able to take over the world by approximately Tuesday.

Thanks for the welcome, Celeste. As for how I found the place, I've been aware of it for a while through a couple of old friends but have been hesitant to sign on and speak up. The only gaming I've ever done is table-top, and I was not sure about other media. But I'd very much like to give this place a try. Currently trying to track down my old manuals, which have been shuffled through many moves and are probably feeling rather cranky with me over the neglect. Anyway it is nice to be made so welcome so quickly.

... definitely not a veteran. No idea how that number got there.

Obviously I've got some learning to do as my second post identified me as an RDI fixture with 1801 posts. Hmmm. Time to check the instruction manual.

Thanks, Eol. I grew up with a slobbery dog, so I guess I feel right at home. Come to think of it, she had point ears, too.

Hi folks. I wanted to introduce myself briefly. I'm a D&D player from way back, c. 1981. Started with the Basic rules and have done most of my playing with 2nd Edition, though I've never DM-ed beyond 1st. Haven't had much time for gaming in recent years as the rest of my group lives in Toronto and I'm out here in New Brunswick, so it occurs to me that this might be a good place to fill that lack.

As a personal note, or maybe reminiscence, I'll offer an image of the second game I ever played. A new acquaintance had just introduced me to the basic set. He did not have any dice, so we wrote numbers on paper and drew them from a jar by way of making our rolls. It was love at first contact, and this is the system that I used during my second game, a few weeks later, when introducing my two best friends to D&D, working from a photocopied rule book. I say this now--and he may kill me or worse for bringing it up--because one of the friends present during that that suburban basement all-nighter was the person who would later become known here as Alacrity, who for the record is the best DM I've ever encountered.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting to know the community here. I hope to find myself in a game with some of you before too long.
