Topic: Gotta Con 2010 (repost)
Subject: Gotta Con 2010 (repost) Feb. 5-7

Gottacon 2010 is coming up fast in Victoria, BC, Canada. Hosted in the Garden City, This is the second annual Gottacon, where gamers from all walks of life come to play various types of games, including board, video, card, RPG, etc. More variety then you can shake a +5 bastard sword (which are sold) at.

The convention is divided into slots, and if you participate in every event you can, that means you can hit a total of 10 different events, with breaks between to check out the vendors, grab some food, and maybe even catch a cat nap.

There are a variety of 'learn how to play' events, beginner's tournaments, draft and sealed events - all of which do not require you to bring your own deck or army to the table, and many if not all of the events include prizes.

Advance purchase ticket sales are now closed, but don't fret! There are plenty of tickets available for sale at the door.

More information and prices can be found at http://www.gottacon.com/

Please note, I am not an event organizer, but can pass along any questions. Also to any mod's that wish to delete this (again), I have webmaster approval to post this ad.

It's now been over a month since anyone else has posted. Am I to assume this game has died? I realize that people have lives, but 5 minutes to put in a short post in a month from anyone shouldn't be that hard.

I'm gonna give it another week, if no one has posted in that time you can consider me gone from this game as the posting rate is abominable.

Keeper: I'm in that teeth pulling state right now, but as a player.

Admiral: Chat games are fun, and get a lot more done then pbp, but there's the time constraints there. you have to find a time where everyone is available.

MD can pm me if I have a spot (or mention it in the golem). He also knows that I can have a basic sheet done in less then 2 hours.

I know I've brought this up all over the board at this point but what is the reason for the lack of posting in this game now?

That is common, but I'm not talking the normal startup speed (a post every hour or so) but once a week is good. I mean, in the one game I ran (different site) the GM's, including myself, gave a little leeway, but if you wern't posting within the allowed time, you got a warning, then suspension, then kicked from the game.

And it's not just Sci-fi games, it's fairly standard in pbp games as far as I can tell.

I'm just going through a bit of Gaming withdrawal. The other site I'm on went down for an upgrade on Dec. 24th and hasn't come back up yet. Ask MD about it :p

Is it just the games I've joined or is the majority of the site slow going for posts. Both of the games I'm in that are "Active" havn't had a post from someone other then myself of the GM in at least 2 weeks. I realize that The holiday's slow the site down, but it's now over a week after the holiday's have ended. I have seen members of the games online, 2 are on right now as I type this, but there has been no posts.

Basically my point is, is this normal for this site?

Looking to the others Baron say's "Well, it seems we have three options, 1. We could scout the exterior for signs of a fight. 2. Knock on the door and see who answers, and question them. or 3. we can turn around and punt that fellow for trying to get us to rob someone."

USS Discovery, Engineering – 1600

Receiving no reply from Cmdr. Kennedy, Bateman asked the computer for Cmdr. Kennedy's location and proceeded to the forward armoury.

Arriving there, Bateman asked a petty officer where he could find Cmdr. Kennedy he was pointed to an officer who was elbow deep in a torpedo, and he could hear the music from thier headphones as he walked up.

Tapping her on the shoulder lightly Bateman awaited a response.

Once the short man was down speaking, Baron turned when another fellow started talking.

Going next after the fellow finished his bow, Baron said "I am Baron, and I'm handy in a fight, whether it's Goblins, Skeletons, or a good old fashioned orc hunt. As presumed, I am ready to go."

Stardate: 2368.04.10
USS Discovery, His Quarters – 1500

Sitting in his quarters looking over the systems report for the ship, Bateman was disappointed that there were so many errors. Turbolifts, replicators...oh wait, that was repaired, now the warp core... far too many gremlins...

Seeing that the Turbolifts seemed to be the only problem not being taken care of at the moment, Bateman opened up the code for each turbolift and looked over each line, comparing it with what it should be.

Finding no errors there, Bateman took one of the working turbolifts done to deck 42 where the non working turbolifts were sitting; Bateman pulled out his tricorder and began scanning each component. Twenty minutes later, Bateman scanned the audio pickups and discovered that there was a small flaw in it causing it to be knocked a millimetre out of alignment.

Moving to the other two turbolifts, Bateman found that the problem was the same, and likely to occur in the other turbolifts before too long.

Walking to a nearby replicator, Bateman got a padd and started to design a new mounting system for the vocal pickups as he moved back to one of the working turbolifts.

Moving to engineering Bateman stopped at the main workstation and asked the engineer there Who was in charge at the moment.

Being told that Cmdr. Kennedy was the CEO and was currently away from engineering, but would likely be in the forward torpedo bay as she had been there most of the day.

=/\=Lt. Bateman to Cmdr. Kennedy: Might I see you for a few moments, I have a solution to the turbolift outages. =/\=

Listening to the others Baron says "I stand by what I said. I'm all for putting these goblins to the sword, but I expect to be compensated, and I don't believe your second condition to be fair. I will agree to not take anything so long as I am paid."

I'm just dropping a note, I've been working a craft fair all weekend but have finished about 1/3rd of the php based sheet. I'll be working on it tonight after dinner.

Listening to all the responses, Baron thought the last suggestion was the best.

"Aye, I am willing to go along with this adventure so long as I am paid. I do not believe your condition that everything remain as it was is reasonable as goblins are known for breaking things for the shear fun of it. I would give my word not to remove any of your items, although I would not say the same for items found on the goblins such as weapons and armor. If an item appears to be plunder, I will not remove it."

Topic: Online Character Sheets?
Subject: flexible

The flexibility comes from not making every field in the database mandatory :p I'll build (as mentioned in PM) a starter one for 3.5 D&D then expand it to 4 and so on. I would need help with some of the other rpg's as I don't have experience with most of them. Help mostly being an html or moderately high res pdf of character sheets from different games.

you know, it wouldn't be super hard to write one for this site. It would more depend on if the webmaster would want to host it. Mostly because it would rely heavily on MySql and php.
