Subject: Two Conversations at the same time!!!

Damiel's forward statements took Guy without really much warning though this in itself seemed reassuring as it was a move he could see himself doing. This Guy was very obviously led by fate as he himself was. Trusting the force that brought them together Guy let himself relax. This was meant to be.

"My name is Guy, and it is a pleasure to meet you Damiel." Guy spoke the traditional introduction with a slight grin. "If you don't mind my asking how is it that you come to think that the woman I spoke to yesterday, you and I are the only ones with strong foresight? I have known nothing of you or yesterday's acquaintance till you came to me. Which lead inevitably to this question what do you want of me?" This would prove to be quite entertaining... though the disturbing thought crossed his mind that there must be something quite large coming up in the future that fate should lead him to so many allies.

*************************************

"The pleasure is all mine." Guy said in reply. "You seem a bit out of sorts. I hope that I'm not troubling you to much, but I really needed to ask if you know anything about the Cabal of the Psyche, among other things."

Subject: The morning after...

As rolled lazily up and out of bed he noticed the slight protest from his muscles and smile a little. Who would have guessed that research that ended up being unnecessary would have involved this much physical strain? He threw on one of his three sets of cloths and, grabbing the paranormal consulting card, hurried on down the stairs to grab some toast before heading out.

It was a school day but Guy figured he could afford to miss class today. He made sure to grab his backpack as even his simple minded caretakers might suspect him of skipping school before he even got out the door.

It was early morning so he had to strain a bit to see the contact info under the name on the card...

There was a Phone number and an email address. Guy felt better about using the phone than email to contact Joan. Making his way to the nearest pay phone guy inserted what little change that he had and carefully dialed the number. After a few rings he got an answering machine, "Joan this is the seer from the hospital. I met the other two yesterday as you may or may not know, and they gave me your info. I have some questions about everything that is going on and would appreciate your help please meet me outside the public library downtown I should be there all day if not I'll leave you another message tomorrow." Guy knew that the message would be a little on the long side and was pleased to see that he got it all in before the machine cut him off.

Guy moved off to the library to wait and watch.

As he hurried back home, Guy did not doubt Jessie’s warning, there was indeed something much bigger going on here. In quick succession he had been contacted and taken into a secret organization, followed by a shady individual, nearly been run over by a car, and saved a girls life. Things like this don’t happen very often and guy didn’t really understand how it was all linked.

The man that had been following him, why would he leave when there was a crowd for cover? Maybe he didn’t. With this thought guy gave a quick look around and made a more conscious effort to be stealthy on his way. He didn’t want the man to discover where he lived as it might be the only safe place he has left. Although this was assuming that this man was ordinary with no special gifts to speak of (Guy didn’t remember sensing whether or not his pursuer was anything other than ordinary); if he did then Guy doubted that him being followed was not really avoidable.

For now his stealth was his only defense as he made his way home.

As Guy walked in the front door, “You’re late for dinner. It’s Chinese take out on the counter.” rasped Delilah, his foster parent, from the TV room. “How was school today?”

Guy grabbed a box of rice and sat down in another chair in front of the TV. “It was alright” he said.

"You know Guy, of all the kids that I have Fostered you are the best student. You may not get A's very often but I don't think that I have seen anything worse the a C out of you." she said almost proudly to Guy.

The praise was lost on him though as he had been trying not to stand out. All the same, Guy smiled to Delilah's satisfaction and left it at that. She was one of his nicer Foster parents so it wouldn't very advantageous to upset her.

Noticing that the news was on, guy’s heart skipped a beat as he heard the announcer talking about a car wreck and a high school hero. I should have just told the police that I was psychic and had seen the event take place before it happened so I would be written off as crazy. He watched it for a bit but there was no image of him there just the announcer standing at the scene where bits of glass and plastic marked where the car had been. A bit of relief, he wasn’t going to have to endure the attention that being a “hero” would bring.

“Hey that isn’t too far from the library where you go after school is!” Delilah exclaimed. “Did you see any of that?”

“No I was still in the library, but I did see the wreck before the police towed it.” Guy replied smoothly.

“Did you see the kid that saved the girl there?” She asked curiously. This was a bit more questioning than guy normally had to go through, and that bothered him a little.

“I think so the police were taking a statement from this one kid, but I didn’t recognize him.” Guy continued, “I’m going to finish my rice up in my room. Good night.”

Delilah gave a grunt of approval as Guy went down the hall to his room. Guy ate a few more bites as he went over his options. The Cabal and Joan’s group seemed very different, the Cabal, of course, seemed more exclusive than the other. Guy wanted to contact both groups but didn’t know whether that might burn one or both of these opportunities. Guy thought that Joan was the better resource at the moment so he would contact her first. Tomorrow he would go and see her. He had seen enough TV shows to know that the phones weren’t always as private as one thought.

“How do you know our real names?”

"I don't actually. I saw Joan's name on your cell." he replied with a slight smile. Had he forgotten already what Guy's gift was?

Maud fished a business card out of her back pocket and gave it to Guy. It said Magical and Paranormal Consulting, with Joan’s contact info underneath.

“I don’t think that was a very normal incident,” Guy said.

“I take it you felt the same presence we did? We think it may have been the driver, but that’s just guessing at this point.” She bit her lip in thought before adding, “Fl—Joan thinks the fiend spirit may have found a new host and might be still running around. We hadn’t thought about it at the time, but I suppose you and the hitman may be in trouble if it comes across you.”

Hip returned. “Just a skinned knee and some rattled nerves. The ambulance will have some disinfectant and a bandage for her when it gets here in another minute. She’s lucky you were there.”

“Now, would you mind telling us your name so we can establish a bit of a basis of communication here? You seem to know a bit about us but you’re still a complete mystery. Don’t be a stranger now, eh?”

"Call me Guy. I will probably be seeing more of you, but I can't say for sure." Guy still didn't know what the cabal would be expecting from him. "Thank you for helping the girl, kindness too often goes unrewarded." Guy added as a kind of apology for being so forward with them. Maybe using Joan's name was an unnecessary move.

The car was a bit of fortune that put guy on edge. There seemed to have been something supernatural behind the incident and, though not full of himself, it seemed as though he was the target. However his follower was missing and he had been brought back into contact with some of the players in the hospital event. Guy wasn't exactly sure of what to do next, but his gut feeling was to run with it. Taking advantage of the general confusion Guy moved quickly to the boy from the Hospital.

"Would you mind taking a quick look at the girl for me? I have no experience or knowledge with medicine, but I know that you do. Also," lowering his voice a little and getting a bit closer, "I think that I need to speak with Joan. It would really help if I could get her number from you."

Guy only half expected the boy to give him Joan's phone number, but he felt that he had been sufficiently loud enough to compel him to check on the girl that he had saved.

Guy looked off into the direction that the driver had run, hoping to catch a glimpse even though that was extraordinarily unlikely.

"I don't think that this was a very normal incident." Guy said none too quietly.

As the woman got up to leave a sudden thought struck, Guy's father was a gifted seer! Had he belonged to the Cabal? Was he hiding from them or something else entirely? He thought on these things for a short while and after realizing how much time had gone by made to pick up the card. His vision began to blur in the familiar way as his gift took over his sight.

-A man wearing sunglasses, dressed in a black coat and of indeterminate age approached the Cabal woman’s terminal. The card was gone from the table and Guy was not at his own computer in the image. The man looked up and Guy saw himself making his way out the library’s main doors. -

A normal person might have been made nervous by this sudden knowledge that they might be being followed, but a normal person would have likely gone insane seeing visions of the future that were none too pleasant. Making as though he had had an itch on his nose while he was in vision so that no one around him would give him a second glance. He scratched his sniffer lightly as he placed his hand on the card next to him. Reaching down with the hand that had scratched his nose, he grabbed his back-pack, swinging it rather wildly onto his back. He slipped the card into his pocket and logged out heading casually around the side of the library to the door. He kept his eyes from wandering by staring at his feet. Even as he left the library he wasn't tempted to look around at his potential follower. Why would he, as he had already seen it?

Guy needed to find some way to see if he really was being followed ...

If! Guy had misunderstood her earlier reference to destiny. His facial expression dropping into a look of obvious disappointment, though this would have looked to every other person like he was having trouble finding what he was searching for on the computer.

It was tough on Guy, being a rarity with his devotion to fate, as he often had to keep his thoughts to himself to avoid standing out. He had thought that maybe this person might have been able to share in his understanding, but it was plain now that she could not.

Still she had been led to him by sight, and even if she did not understand what led her, fate had brought them together. This offer was not to be taken lightly as exactly what would be required of or gained by him was yet to be fully disclosed, and yet another offer like this was not likely to ever be made.

If he believed all that she had said/thought then her motives were benevolent and sincere. This might have been easier to accept if she had told him why she was in Adelaide, even though he hadn't asked her.

Her mention of this point troubled him as it is rarely a good person that must keep secrets from another presumably good person. She had said something about protecting although if she had wished to enlist him into the Cabal then why not just tell him and ask him for aid now?

Guy's experience told him that though other options tended to look better fate would have it's way. Guy, as always, differed to it in this instance.

I will accept your offer, his face still bearing a look of disappointment.

So where do we go from here?

Your invitation is very generous, but am I to believe that you want nothing from me but to maintain the secrecy that I already keep? I find it hard to believe that the Cabal would simply wish to make itself known to me just now.

How did you find me and why do you take an interest in me now, claiming that my gift is something that I do not fully understand? You professed to ponder Fate, so what stirring of destiny is this?

what unusual happenstance! Another gifted individual with a tie to fate! Guy was pleased at the lady's reply, and at the same time puzzled with this new form of comminication. How much could she hear from his thoughts? he formed a few sentences in his mind hoping that it would get to his mysterious ally.

"Who you are is hardly a question that need be asked unless you intend for me to work with you. I understand that you wish that, as you have inquired of my asking, so please just inform me of your intentions, and I would decide after whether I need to know who you are."

This request for partial information seemed prudent as she obviously had the advantage with intell, knowing who he was, but should he not go with what she had in mind for him knowing to much on his end could be dangerous... she had already said that she did not work alone.

Well this was surprising! Guy certainly didn't expect this girl to have approached him so soon, but the suddenness of her appearance was somewhat comforting. It demonstrated a non-hostile contact. They were still in a public place and unless he had been oblivious to a large majority of her spying's on him then she was likely confirming his identity rather than studying a target. So now was the best time to find out.

"Destiny is a funny thing. Why do you think it brought you here?" Guy said in a normal, but not so loud as to draw much attention.

He did a quick glance at his neighbor to find any identifying features, and then smoothly turn his head back to his computer. His eyes fixed squarely on his screen as he plunged on into his research looking at images of parks in the area, almost as if he didn't want to hear her response.

Guy was awoken the next morning by a rough knock on his door. This was fairly traditional, and as he pushed himself up and out of bed he looked at the clock hanging on the wall opposite to his bed. 7:30. School was so bothersome, requiring him to awaken early and then not allowing him to do as he pleased, but that was the way of things...

He would have to spend some time on the public computers and look into the different things that he did see in vision last night: the park where the girl "Maud" sat and drew morbid pictures, and the University or College that the boy went to.

The park would be the hardest to find as getting pictures of public parks often was not tagged by the parks name, so he would instead search the area around the school which should be a bit easier to find as it would be close and have something of a medical program. The three that had shown up last night seemed to be in relatively close contact with one another, and although that did not imply that they were close geographically the chances were pretty good that they were.

Guy sighed as he remembered that he hadn't done his math homework and resolved to get it done during his english class. There would likely be more homework given out today putting a hold again on his plans, or at least they would have if he had actually cared that much about school. He was going to the Library after school, and his homework would have to wait.

His vision had told him little of the nature of the strangers motives, but clearly showed that they had the same goal as he did. He thought that he might have seen enough from them to be able to find them outside of the realm of the supernatural. He would need a computer, and at this hour the libraries would be closed... that would have to wait till tomorrow.

He had seen nothing of the fox or the hit-man in his vision. It would be nice to know more about them too, but for now he needed to move again. Perhaps he would continue his search from his bed at the home. The long way home would probably be best, so as to be sure no one was following him.

There was still time left before he would be missed at the home. Guy would need to find a safe hiding spot to inquire of the wyrd about the past of the gifted ones and the other players that night.

It had surprised him that the getaway was so easy, so it was important for him to be cautious. The cops were on their way and it would be troublesome if they questioned him, but until he knew more he didn't think that it would be wise to go to the home as he could be followed.

It was time to leave! For the time being it seemed that the hit-man would be fine, and Guy needed time to try and learn more about these other gifted humans. Guy didn't want to be noticed leaving as he didn't want to answer any questions or become to friendly with anyone that he had not seen in his vision. He would try and slip away while they were talking to the not so ordinary man, but if the group started to include him he felt that it would only serve to make enemies of them to continue to retreat without an excuse. Humor might serve him well in offering a reason... it was past his bed time!

Where was the leader? That seemed to be the most important piece of information at the moment, but it didn't seem like the hit-man wanted any help any of the people before him at the moment. It would be difficult to get him to tell, but it wasn't necessary, just convenient. "Where is their leader?" Sometimes it pays to be straightforward, and if that didn't work and he just pushed past the group here guy may have to divulge a bit of his vision to the hit-man...

"You'll save time if you go straight to the third floor." He would check the second floor anyways guy knew but it would cause the desired wonder. He wondered how effective it might be with this man...

The other gifted persons sudden appearance still. It also bothered him that one of their number, a woman, was gifted as he was, seeing time in a way that others cannot. Why should this be kept from him in his searching previous to tonight? The woman had paid him what she must have perceived as a compliment, but she had obviously not noticed that this betrayed what she didn't know as well as giving Guy the unwanted feeling of standing out. Somehow she had divined what his gift was all that she could have seen was his ability to move things with his mind...

Until he could find out more about these people, he would need to keep contact to a minimum. Maybe even splitting off from them to go with the hit-man was an option? Though he was definitely not as overtly friendly as the new group, Guy had known that he would be there and that gave him quite a bit of comfort.

Well, things had worked out so far. Guy grinned and the briefest of laughs escaped him. Things always worked out, but the was sometimes a surprise. He then realized that he was with strange company, that is people that he had not "seen" before the night began. He didn't think that that could bode well for him, but his other option appeared to be leaving, but this night was not yet over. Indeed there were more things to take care of and at the moment these newcomers were not against him.

Because of the later bit of information, he thought that he need not waste time looking into their past, the more reliable use of his ability, to find their motives here. In his vision there had been more than just the fox and, with this character's disappearance, the way before Guy had been made clear. He must find the man with the motorbike... perhaps one of the newcomers could aid him with this, but until he knew more about these people, he would keep to himself as much as possible.

"Where are you headed now?" Guy spoke addressing the group in general. Hopefully this would tell him a little more about them. With the wording he had not said that he would go along, but he didn't want it to sound as though he would not follow. Guy was reserving decision till after he knew the destination.

He needed to see what was going on, and it seemed as though now would be a good time to find better position. The Fox's predicament worried him though he should aid it somehow. Guy would move so that he could see the gunner that had spoken of ending the Fox and attempt a disarm with his power.

Guy was hit! He hated when that, but it has happened before. This time he was burned too, this would be difficult to explain to his foster parents. How does one explain getting a burn in the night while you are supposed to be asleep? Well that would only matter if he didn't die here, so he put those thoughts from his mind...

He needed something to through and some cover. Cover being the first priority, he cast his gaze seeking a place to hide from any other fiery attacks like the last. If on the way he found something to throw at them, he might feel a little more optimistic about this encounter.

If he could keep throwing things at his enemies might cause sufficient disruption in the fight as to open up an opportunity for a better action later. Most of the gifted like himself were physically below average, like himself, and poor hand to hand fighters. This kind of scenario might give him the advantage with his abilities... a bit of extra fighting ability with his mind and the future revealed to him. Yes that kind of fight would be ideal. If he could get them closer together too that might discourage the use of the flame throwing attack.

Now he had a plan. Find cover and throw things at the two behind the railing trying to move them closer together and then find a way to get close...

hmm, the lack of information regarding the newcomer in his vision was troubling but he had seen the fox again in his vision. Guy felt that he still needed to be near the fox then as it was still alive in his vision. Trailing behind them seemed like it would be his best bet. The chairs stealth inhibiting size meant that he would have to leave it behind. After hastily making certain that the creature was not here, Guy looked for the woman who had spoken earlier. She was showing concern for the hitman, but certainly she had not been in his vision at all she could not have been a significant figure here tonight, all the same though her appearance was troubling. Perhaps, she was not an ally after all and was merely teasing the man that it was none too wise for this skilled, albeit ordinary, human to fight the creature without any defenses. Guy would have to be very careful around her. She did have a shield in place though, hmm that too was somewhat suspicious. It seemed as though everyone was leaving though... Guy needed a place to hide and consult his gift.

Guy couldn't recall ever seeing any creature he had encountered previously just materializing out of thin air, but it wasn't as surprising for him as it would have been for humans without his gifts.

what to do now that it was here though... the creature didn't look as though it could fly but that couldn't be ruled out simply by appearance in this situation. Guy still had the chair too. The obvious conclusion would be to chuck the chair at the demons feet in the hopes of either tripping it or finding out that it can indeed fly! (wouldn't hurt to put a little extra power in his throw with his gift and channeling)

hmm, well the gunman did appear to have neglected Guy, as well as not been able to see the shield that had arisen around his target. A warning might be in order all though who is to say that he wouldn't be dumb enough to stick his head out from around the door just to try and perceive it. Since the coming events were much closer perhaps another vision might be prudent... maybe there was some other way to surprise the people in the room. Guy was now very curious about this hit man. What would his reaction be to the warning? Without seeking a vision he acted. "There is a shield around him that you cannot see. You wouldn't have missed last time where it not for its presence." He spoke quietly to the man. "Do you know of any other entrances to that room?" He finished with this question, hoping that it might encourage some strategy making...

Was this his chance? well of the things that he was now very certain of, the integrity of this gun-man and the real danger that he presented, pointedly stood out. How to end this problem? well he had said that anyone who intervenes would be killed, but his only instruction to everyone other than his target was to remain silent. Guy thought that the assassin might let him walk, and if he could get close enough he could either incite the target to act hastily or, if the target did not view guy as an enemy right away, could share the wrong answer to the riddle and thus gain the shooter as an indirect ally. For this to work guy would need to move with purpose while keeping an eye out for any movement from the gunner so as to push the guns if he decided to shoot. He would only have to do that for a short while as he walked. If he were going to be shot it would happen fast. Then his attention would rest on the "target." He wasn't really sure what to expect, but it seemed that the chair would prove of little use, or maybe it would better serve as a distraction to cover his movements. Yes Guy would use the chair as a decoy! He need only look surprised as the chair floated around to avoid the shooters suspicion.

The riddle caught guy off guard. What was the man with guns doing? He was obviously no friend of the others in the room, have just shot one of them and then shouted a riddle at them... no this man seemed to be here for the same purpose as Guy, but he appeared to be better informed. No one had died yet which was rather strange considering the circumstance. Well almost everyone in the room seemed to be relatively harmless, but the scariest of the persons in the room was the man that was wreathed in energy. Guy didn't think that the riddle man had noticed this, and Guy had certainly never encountered anything like this himself. Perhaps the riddle man would tell Guy what he should do? The riddle seemed very simple though, what was it's purpose?

The Fox was still just behind him, but this no longer made him uneasy, when the person associated with the bike had gone was more pressing in his mind. As he was walking down the hall he felt strange movement in the power around him, he had never to his recollection felt anything like this, but it did little to break his stride.

There was talking indistinct at first something that sounded latin, but he couldn't be sure. He picked up his pace a bit not quite running yet, pushing on into the hall in front of him. There he saw a man standing near a door way not thirty feet in front of him... What to do now? Without slowing he decided to "press his luck" (as if such a thing actually made a difference). If this were the figure from his vision then their meeting was fated and if it were just a guard or something like that having the appearance of confidence and purpose might just allow him to walk by without raising suspicion.

Suddenly there was another voice coming from the room.

“Fiendish Spirit, I bind thee to my will to destroy the enemies of our Lord who are even now coming here to hinder our great cause. As a reward for your service, I will release you to hunt in this city.”

hmm... they knew that he was here? well he knew that they were there so I guess that made them even! He smiled at that thought but did not slow. Guy watched the man down the hall for a reaction to seeing him but it seemed that his face was very difficult to read, he did not seem to have any kind of extraordinary power, so why was he here? There was a rather large gun in his hands, presenting a rather high level of danger. Throwing caution to the wind Guy keeps walking towards the man by the doors.

if worst comes to worst he would just move the gun with a thought so that it missed.
