Topic: The Bleeding Lute - Come on in and Play!
Subject: The final hour.

Sweat beat down on his face, his hands twitched, his eyes darted back and forth. The assassin had chased the man to a abandoned building, here he would kill him. He knew his mark couldn't outrun him, he moved so quietly that the wind itself seemed to not even move past him. The assassin was good he had the man right were he wanted him there was only one place left the man had to hide, and that would be his grave.

He turned the corner he saw his prey he had no where to run, the assassin closed in he wouldn't be careless he followed the shadow on the east side of the cluttered room to stay out of the candle light. The final hour was upon them... The assassins extasy turned to panic when pain seared down his legs. He had never taken his eyes off of his prey and that was his folly the hunter had become the prey, lured into the spiders web. He glanced down to see a small razor trap coated in a poison the assassin knew all to well. His legs would soon go numb he had to act now and strike fast. He pulled a small crossbow and aimed at his target, but he was no where to be found. He turned to retreat but stepped hard on a set of caltrops. "but how" the man grew frantic his heart pounded so hard it felt like it would come through his chest. He knew this would be his end, but the hunter had other plans. He looked to his left just in time to see a gust of powder hit him in the face.

"Now then shall we begin? What do you know..."

"Are you coming as well, sir?" The man gave a small smile and began to answer the question he knew would come. He made his living not being caught off guard, thinking of all the outcomes before they occurred and having a plan for it. He began to respond when out came the large bald man carrying the drunk half-Orc and rammed right into the kobold. Even better the man thought to himself then man quickly and quietly he took his leave during the scuffle. The man thought this should work out just fine all I need to do is spur them in the right direction.

The man quickly left outside and walked down an alley way. His small smile faded and his face turned stern. This is what he lived for, what he desired the most the thrill of it all. He knew the location well and already knew his first three moves. His focus intense his mind in perfect sync with his body for he knew that he was being followed...

As the man was walking down stairs he heard a kind reptilian voice behind him. The man thought to himself "right on time". The man quickly turned to face the kobold and with a low bow said "What an honor to be in the presence of a paladin of the almighty Bahamut king of all dragons." The man recovered from his bow saying "I feel as if I should share this with you, I recently heard of a evil man named Tharex the Merciless in pardinal. He runs a slave ring and is ambushing people on the roads and capturing young maidens to who knows what evil means." the man watched to see the the kobolds reaction hoping he was getting through to him. "I wish only to see these young ladies reunited with there families and Tharex brought to justice for his heinous acts." After saying that the man quickly reached for a small map and handed it to the paladin "Tharex has been seen near the Ruins of Athera on large plantation just a few miles to the south." with that the man gave another low bow.

On the letters the man man dropped off read simply Wanted: Tharex the Merciless. For crimes of robbery, slave trading and murder! Last seen on the Herndon plantation in Pardinal. REWARD of 10gold dead or alive.

Under the third paper was a smaller one saying

"To the mighty heros,
An addition reward of 10gold for each of youwill be awarded for your for your assistance in the execution of Tharex. An addition 1g for every one of his subordinates executed as well your reward will be waiting for you here upon successful completion of this task. You need not bring and proof of your feat I will know when you are done."

Subject: The hunt begins.

In the alley next to the tavern known as The Bleeding Lute a man stood patiently waiting in the shadows. He wore darkened leather armor with with large pauldrons that came out to a point, over his chest was a tabard of deep red with a dark gold trim that bore only a single emblem. His right arm was covered in dark leather that had many of overlapping straps with metal studs placed in a way that it appeared to be a tightly fitted pouch. On his left arm there was no armor under the pauldron save a single bracer made of metal with thick wire wrapped around it that covered the majority of his forearm. Around his waist he had a dark golden belt with four oval shaped compartments on each side and two square compartments on the front and back, on his back set two short curved blades running horizontally across the lumbar portion of his back directly over is belt. Extending down from his waist were large leather pieces covered In metal strips that ran down his leg to his knee then arced slightly upwards going around the outside of his leg. On his knees he had metal pads that came to a very small point, around his calf he had leather straps over his boots that held two blades on the outside of his calf. His hair was dark with a slight blue tint and parted with his bang to the right side and a long strip of hair on both sides of his face that came down to his chest and were held tightly in a grey bindings with the rest of his hair hanging freely in the back. If you looked closely you could see the tip of a sharply pointed ear coming out each side.

He stood peacefully in the night with his arms crossed over his chest and his legs one over another leaning against the side of the tavern. He closed his eyes and smirked "I almost didn't hear you sneak up on me do you have the parchments?". The shadowy figure handed him a rolled scroll containing a few pieces of rolled paper and disappeared as quickly and quietly as he came. With that the elven man turned to head inside.

He slowly opened the door to the sound of a song when he looked he was rather surprised to see a Half-Orc singing the man gave a little smirk and quietly found a seat in the back and slowly scanned the room. The large Bald man was the first he saw sitting at the bar a white cloaked man, and black cloaked woman and most curious of all a small kobold clad in armor.

Now he played the waiting game... After witnessing the interactions that night the man observed a dark elven woman head off to bed he made a note of where she went and continued to watch as he saw the large human and the minstrel discussing a misplaced sword. The man grinned when he heard where the sword was misplaced "what good fortune" he thought to himself.

Soon after the pair had become rather intoxicated and the large man carried the bard off to bed. The man stood up and slowly walked a few steps behind them when they entered he quickly slid three sheets of paper under the door and briskly walked back down stairs. " now we wait the man said under his breath"

So I have been lurking this page and I feel I have a really good character. I'm new to free form so I'm not sure what exactly how it works as far as interjecting to much control into the game.

Time frame is non specific, siege technology would be the pinnacle of advancement if that is what your wondering. Character classes are taken case by case, just submit a general idea of what you are interested in playing. Who could lose from having a salty veteran in the group. That being said I won't box the decisions of the players in. If you feel it in your best interest to kill the LT then swing away. My idea has always been to reward players for fighting smart. Thats not to say I hit the golem in back wit ma axe. More of using angles and positions to outsmart.... And trust me you will need it for this.

Your more then welcome to, if enough people are interested I will write up the backstory. I have a strong idea of what i want it to be but its up to the players to make it happen.

Dark Souls is a extremely challenging game where death is a certainty. I would hope to give a game where there is a significant chance of death, if mistakes are made. Basically the premise challenges players to be at there best and gives the thrill of overcoming powerful foes. It would still be based on D&D rules.

As for Easter i dont see that being an issue

I will get started on a backstory if there is more interest.

Greetings Guildmates, I find myself back from a long tour in my army career of not having any time to play. I have kept myself active by lurking. Thinking on what would be interesting to me, I would like to see if anyone would be interested in a "Dark Souls" style game. I think it would be an amazing game variant that is unexplored if you will. Something were living to the next battle is never insured and were quick thinking and creative problem solving is key. I would like to use 3.5 rules and classes and races on a case by case basis. If anyone is interested I could start planning my designs(foul traps and cruel tricks). Would love to see some interest as i think it will be alot of fun. ~Zero

D'artanian listened intently to the mayor and the now irritated Guard. While listening he was trying to familiarize himself with there scent, and watching them carefully to see if anything about their behavior seemed off. After taking everything in they said D'artanian responded, "We are going to need as much information as possible to get this solved, now how is it you suspect they are getting in and out? What has been stolen and from whom? Have there been any guards relieved of there duties in the past that might have reason for revenge? Have any traders been robbed on the way to your town or passing by? have the thefts been more frequent in one part of the town or another? is there a sewer system they might be coming through and for how long has these thefts been going on? We mean not insult your work as im sure you do a fine job, but even the smallest detail may be the key to helping restore order for your town." While asking for information D'artanian constintely watchs the pair to see any changes in how they act whether it be more relaxed, nervous, timid, or even angry.

My thoughts were to use our groups ability to detect magic on anything left behind by the thieves. It seems rather sloppy of high quality thieves to leave behind something so oblivious, maybe some enchantment was put on them to hide tracks, scents. maybe it was left behind as a trap or possibly a non related person *shrug*

Besides that any mages in town are supporting them or they have some political pull a corrupt official being blackmailed into turning the other cheek maybe?

D'arts plan was to travel with Kordar, to try to divert any extra attention from him and having a strong ally should a skirmish break out, while making his way towards the sheriff. Also keeping a look out for any local mages and or bards. Since there maybe magic involved who better to observe then mages if there is any. but he is also trying to get anything left behind by the thieves so he can get any scent for them as to not be ambushed.
