Topic: Greetings and Salutations
Subject: 2nd edition, huh?

If you think 2 ed is outdated, imagine trying to find resources and books for 1st edition, from way back when it was still called "AD&D". It's a nightmare.
Anyways, welcome to the inn from one lurker to another.

I'd have to say the answer is time, not darkness.

Actually, it's closer to "Who is like God?". It's actually my middle name, but people never spell my first name right so I use Michael on forums and such.

On the cover of my DMG is a picture of an Efreet (I think) clutching a female character and wielding a sword, with a fighter and a wizard brandishing weapons/spells at it.

Hmm, now I'm confused... When I searched the ISBN for my rulebook, The majority of results said it was a copy of the AD&D First Edition Revised, but judging by your responses I'd say I have something slightly newer than that. New enough that Elves and Dwarves aren't a class by themselves, at least.
Anyways, thank you for the warm welcomes. Looking forward to my stay.

Subject: New to D&D

Hello, all. I recently discovered your website when searching for a printable character sheet, and at first I thought it was just another "ghost town" that had been inactive for years. Then I saw that some of the forum topics were less than a week old, and I thought "Hey! There ARE still people who don't use 3.5 rules." So I thought I'd join up and introduce myself.
I'm the DM of a small (7 or group of D&D nerds, and we've only had two gaming sessions, the last of which ended in a total party wipe (six level 1's got mopped by five hobgoblins, who'd have guessed?). We use the 1st Edition Revised rules, because that's what my dad used in college, so we already had the set of books. I'm looking forward to being a semi-active member of RDI.
