Subject: The Goldcrest Chronicles

The country of Alsewill has always been peaceful, that is until one day mysterious creatures start attacking the railways and airships. The attacks have been confusing for everyone, as no one has survived to tell the tail of the attacks. The trains and airships would come to a stop in their docking stations, and what the guards keep finding inside is indescribable horror. The attacks eventually waned, but the peace didn't last long. Just last week a train stopped in Goldcrest, it to had suffered the fate of the attacks, except for one lone survivor. A human child; The guards found him hiding in a luggage compartment. He was immediatly taken to the castle infirmary. Lord Banum of Goldcrest put out a call to all adventurers who believe they can solve the mystery of these insidious attacks and bring them to a stop.
---------------------------------------------------------

Owen looked up from cleaning the bar counter when he noticed an odd duo walk through the doors, A Hobgoblin and a Dragonborn. "Why do I always get the odd ones coming in here? This is always bad for business." Owen went back to cleaning his glass as the other townsfolk looked up and noticed the two newcomers. At once they started whispering to each other about the two. "Maybe they're going to rob us." "They might be adventurers!" "No, they look more like vagabonds." Owen glanced up towards the two still standing in the door way. "So you two going to order something or do I got to kick you out?"
-----

The guard blinked and rubbed his eyes to make sure he wasn't imagining things again. He blinked again and sure enough, the Deva was still standing there. "Uhm... Excuse me sir, what brings you to Goldcrest if you don't mind me asking. It's just, we don't get many of your kind coming through here."

-----
"Ta'nil! Ta'nil!" Kilek ran towards his halfling idol holding a torn piece of paper. "Ta'nil, I've been looking everywhere for you! I found this poster along the way. The Lord posted it, he's looking for people to help solve these attacks, maybe you could help! Oh, I also saw two strange men walking into the Bearded Goat Inn, maybe you could check them out to?" Kilek looked into Ta'nils eyes with excitment and joy as he jumped up and down waiting for a reply from his idol.

Background:

All Deva were born from the Astral Sea, ex-angels taking upon a more mundane visage for their benevolent God and lord at the expense of their memory and powers. For thousands of years Serrah's 'ancestors' have died and been reborn in the cycle of reincarnation and rebirth that is being a Deva.

So many lifetimes ago, Serrah as he was once before was a devoted follower to his lord, Bahamut. In a past lifetime, his very being and soul were saved by a great primal spirit, at the cost of the spirit's own 'life'. Swearing to strive to repay the Primal Spirits of the world over his endless lifetimes, Serrah's previous incarnations found a new home quite by accident, growing reclusive both from civilization and even their own creator to learn more and act to protect the Spirits and the natural world that they embody.

Finding beauty in all forms of nature and able to commune with the spirits he swears himself to, even after having repaid his debt in full, Serrah is a Shaman as he has been for so many lifetimes before. His spiritual companion is a Shikra, a bird of prey that is not seen anywhere near the city of Goldcrest, but it is a companion that has remained with him throughout many lifetimes. His Shikra companion never speaks to him of his previous lives, just as he understands not to ask. If it becomes necessary, he will know.

Almost devoid of personal possessions save a single totem, handcrafted leather armour and several handcrafted javelins, as a Deva Serrah rarely needs to bathe his clothes and comfortable sleeps in his armour. Often quiet, he keeps his thoughts and motivations hidden often, but will act quickly to protect the world and spirits he is bound to. And so, after decades of seperating himself from the more 'civilized' races, acting instead as a guide for tribes of less intelligent creatures with the help of the spirits and his own retained memory of the Goblin and Giant languages from his previous lives, he returns to the cityscape to prepare to fight another threat to the Spirits of the area.

Thanks for pointing that out, I sort of forgot about those as I was busy while posting these. I'll make adjustments as necessary. Another reason some of that isnt typed in is as a person witht o much free time on my hands, I tend to make dozens of 4e characters, so I remmeber Many of the racial features and ablilites form the PHB1.

Background
Dryt left his home at the age of 15, barely an adult to his people. He was at first very naive and was soon robbed blind. Having nothing, Dryt wandered around the land, doing oddjobs for money. He won his warhammer in a battle protecting a small caravan. He was paid handsomely for his aid and with that he bought his scale armor, a hand crossbow and enough food for a long trip. His trek was to travel across the land and start his life as a mercenary. For a while he traveled, doing a quick job for money every now and then. Eventually (when he was in a neighboring city) Dryt heard of a attack close to the city of Goldcreast. Dryt, looking for another job. Dryt is honorable, and stubborn. As for most Dragonborn, honor is his life. He is very touchy about people questioning his honor due to the fact that he was easily taken advantage of in his earlier year. He will go to great lengths to prove that he is a very honorable person.

@Clockwork. It may be easier to use a 4e deity, but if you want to use something else just give a quick description of the diety.

@Takley. I'd prefer if you made a new character, but pm me a leveled down version of the character and I'll see.

As far as I'm concerned the whole group could be Deva, That'd be odd I know, but if Celtia does play and you still want to be a Deva Invoker, go for it.

Halfling Rogue
Dragonborn Fighter
Undecided (Tielfing Warlock or Human/Deva Invoker)
Now we need 1-2 more players, and we can start. Excellent

Drama in real life is bad enough as it is, as a teen that goes to school I understand... But dragging stuff like that on a place that's meant to be fun isn't cool. Then again I myself haven't seen any here, that or I have and just didn't realize it. But well said Eol, I agree 110% with everything you've said.

Well if you can't choose, if you want you can stick to being a Tiefling Warlock... Or you can wait and see what others will be and choose something that will help the party. We could always use a Cleric.

I've only been here a while, I've only DM'd a few times, But i was wondering if anyone wants to play in a 4e game? I'll need 4-5 players, lvl 3, I think 500gp to start. The restrictions I'm putting on are only races and classes from PHB 1&2... The basic Idea is a land that has being going through dark times, It has some elements of Ebberon in it such as the magically powered Airships and trains. There have been reports coming into the larger cities that strange creatures have been attacking trains and airships across the land. The adventures have been drawn to a city near the latest attack. This city is know as Goldcrest... And the adventure shall go from there.

Leon looked back towards the man who just spoke. "Leon, you remember my name and maybe I shall return one day Takley. So long as the wastes don't claim me first." Before anyone else could say anything to him, Leon ran out of the throne room towards the castle doors, Tears starting to pour from his eyes at the sudden rush of memories, good and bad from his short life in this town. His only home, the one where he learned his skills, and where he lost both of his parents.

Leon glared towards the woman who barked at him and the others for being 'disloyal to the king'. That was until the strange man off to the side started talking to the group like they weren't there.

Leon turned his head towards the odd man."Just who are you calling a spirit? I'm quite real, I feel pain like you, I feel the hunger gnawing at our stomachs... We are quite real friend." The last word slid from Leon's mouth with a hint of sarcasm. *He's clearly insane, or suffering from starvation and dehydration like us, but on a more grand scale. The king must have no hope left to employ the likes of us...*

Leon shook his head and looked towards the king. "I'm sorry your lordship, but I can not help you find that which is not here. I shall take my leave and I'll be at home packing if you need me." As he turned to leave Leon looked back at the group. "I don't know if any of you agree with me, but I believe salvation lies beyond these walls, not below the dry soil which holds up this doomed town." Leon bowed towards the king and looked up one more time. "I'm sorry, but this town holds no hope and horrible memories for me. I must leave now."
