Subject: thanks

True true, it's such a shame, though, that Loaded Dice has been stopped for so long, is there any potential for it to come back? It's what attracted me to the site and I would love to see it continued if possible.

Maybe I will join a campaign, at some point. I guess I was just put off by how my first one fizzled so badly :p

Subject: The Graveyard of the Inn

After logging in for the first time in eons, it seems as though the Inn is more a graveyard than a community. I don't know, maybe it's the fact that Loaded Dice was last updated in 2011, almost 3 years now, or that only a few continue with campaigns.

It makes me sad that parts of this incredible site have become somewhat decrepit, and that it isn't thriving as it once was. Maybe it's just me, as a long time lurker in the past, but I just wish I could do something to help breath some life back into this place which inspired me and gave me so many ideas for my own campaigns.

Subject: The First challenge...

Allen exploded through the black door and landed upon his face at the foot of a massive set of stairs leading to a huge palace with a massive blazing sun shimmering behind its domed towers. He stood, brushed himself off, and walked up the steps and into the palace. Within the huge fortress was a gargantuan entrance hall with four arches either side and a throne at the other end. Upon the throne sat a crippled old man in a robe with a single eye.

"Who en-ters the cour-t of the Paste-Ry Ki-ing" the old man croaked out with an odd stutter once Allen stood confused at the foot of the set of steps descending from his chair.

"I am Allen... 'Paste-Ry King'..." Allen became even more confused as the man laughed.

"Yes. I sup-pose you wish to com-ple-ete my chall-enge?" he cackled

"I guess..." murmured Allen

"Beware, for it is a tri-al filled with doom and per-il..."

"Ok."

"and mass-ive drops and spikes..." the old man seemed to be trying to impress him, he sighed.

"Come on then..."

"Fine, TAKE ON THE CHALLENGE!" suddenly four blobby men that seemed as though made from dough brought in a trolley each laden with cake from the four arches. "You see... this cake is..." the king paused for effect "fat-cake; it is basic-ally cake... but is made complete-ly from fat (but still tastes of cake) and that fat is magi-cal."

Allen was a bit repulsed "What does it do?"

"It... erm... it makes you get effected by the fat as soon as you eat it."

"I really don't want to do this."

"There'-s no other- way." the old man wheezed and fell back into his chair as Allen moved to a trolley "you- have to- eat all- of- them-" he rested "good luck, each bite makes you- want- to take- another---". Allen looked down at a tantalizing slice of strawberry shortcake 'He's lying. There's no way that kind of magic exists. I've never heard of it before 'fat magic'' he thought 'hmm'. He shrugged 'if it's the only way.' he picked up the spoon and sliced a spoonful from the shortcake and swallowed it quickly. It was delicious and seemed like the best sweet thing he could ever remember tasting.

He felt no noticeable change, but he felt a little odd. 'guess it doesn't work' he thought, however he remained cautious. He sliced off two more pieces and swallowed them down. He still didn't feel anything! He turned to a mirror that the old man now held in front of him. He seemed almost no different to what he had seen in the mirror shards on the trash island, other than that his body seemed less straight as a line, but a tiny bit more curved in certain areas, but he could have been imagining it, however, so he decided to simply scoff down the cake.

When he turned to the mirror he watched as his shirt lifted a bit and he felt his belt tighten around his waist. He looked down, but everything seemed fine, except that his belt buckle was slightly covered by his body now. He lifted his shirt and looked underneath; his teen muscles had been muffled by flesh a bit, but were easily visible. This was going to be easy.

Next he devoured a half of a chocolate cake. He turned to the mirror again. His arms seemed less toned extending from the rolled up flannel sleeves. His shirt was billowing out more and his belt felt quite tight. He undid his belt and moved it up two notches so it sat pretty loosely upon his waist. He observed his stomach as his muscles seemed to vanish under flesh that rolled slightly when he bent his back forward. His jeans grew tighter upon him. "I don;t think those are healthy for you right now." said the king, gesturing at his jeans which faded and vanished so he was standing in his boxer-briefs with his shirt and t-shirt on.

"Ah!" yelled Allen in shock

"Get- on- with- it..." wheezed the king, so Allen did, he consumed the rest of the chocolate cake, three eclairs and a cheesecake before turning to the mirror, noticing his absence of a shirt. He watched as his stomach inflated again and extended far enough over his waistband that it overhang it.his chest started to get more fleshy and his legs thickened with his backside along with his now pale arms.

"Hurry up!" yelled the King "I have to do this a number of times today!" so Allen did, gladly. He ate four more eclairs, a sponge cake, two Swiss rolls and a mud cake to finish the first trolley, before observing himself again. His stomach was growing again, severely hanging over his waistband now, extended from its normal position by about a foot. His chest was exceedingly fatty and his thighs as well as his long calves were also quite large and inflated. His neck started thickening severely and his once-biceps began to weigh down and overhang his elbows when straight. He leaped straight onto the 2nd trolley and swallowed it all down.

He looked again and this time his fat nearly hid his underwear, with his belly extending severely from his torso, along with his chest. His thighs developed stretch marks and grew to about the size of his old torso and became almost as pale as his now rounded shoulders and fatty arms. His neck was thick and fat and was nearly as thick as his head. He jumped to the next trolley and devoured every last morsel.

He turned again and enjoyed the view. His flesh seemed to be hanging off of his; his belly now completely hid hi entire groin area like a curtain and his back looked like melting chocolate. His huge thighs were absolutely massive and the calves beneath them were pale and pillar-like. His neck, thicker now than his head, wobbled as he turned and his arms hung like fleshy wings. He rushed to the final trolley eagerly and eat the lot, ending with an entire wedding cake.

He turned once more and saw a large fleshy sack of a man, which seemed as though he had been left out in the sun too long. His body was essentially falling from him and he could only be described as repulsive. "Well done!" yelled the King "you defeated the challenge! Now- you- will- be- fat forever!" he cackled as Allen murmured to himself.

"I wish I was as I was before I ate the first slice of shortcake." sure enough, his earrings twitched and his fat sucked back into his body and vanished, his belly retracted back into teen muscle and a chest. His arms deflated and gained their original form and his legs retracted and became thin and slender once more. However, he now stood in his underwear, cold and embarrassed. "Oh." said the King "I guess you still win... well done" he laughed "you-can have- your - clothes back." he clicked his fingers and the four dough men rushed in with clothes "Oh, and have the customary underwear of Paste-ry land as a reward." The dough men flew at him and tore of the stretched underwear, replacing it with a frilly pair of women's underwear, much to his embarrassment. They then pulled on his jeans, socks, shoes, shirt and over-shirt and escorted him to the door.

"By the way." yelled the King "We were just getting renovations done. It has been very confusing. The demon- door- puzzle is- next- door." and with that, the dough people launched him from the black door into the portal once again, heading towards a shimmering silver door.

'God damn it.' thought Allen as he passed through that one.

Allen hurtled through space as the door close by rattled, opened and then shut again. He could have sworn he saw Marceline enter and vanish before he was flung wildly about a room as though a creature held him in his clutches. Soon enough another door appeared, this covered with eyes and mouths, adorned with a film of black paint. 'Here it is, the challenge...' thought Allen as he was sped towards it 'Bring it on.'

---
Meanwhile... (Just to uphold the sort of different dimension thingy)
---

Henry burnt his way through the wall, seeing the dark girl and Allen standing there. 'At last, people...' he thought as he moved over to them, the hole behind him sealing magically 'no going back now...' he shrugged and moved to Allen as Marceline began to fade. "Hey guys..." he said, but there was no response "Guys?" suddenly Marceline became whole and both turned to him with red flaming eyes and mouths leaking hellfire.

"Cheater! No one cheats with magic in here and gets away with it!" the distorted voice of Allen screeched as Marceline's altering body cackled. They now both stood as tall freakish humanoids, completely made of shadow, with flaring eyes and mouths. Both locked him in their gazes and the room seemed to fall away as they danced about him (like Howl's Moving Castle demons do...). He lapsed into unconsciousness as 'Allen' screeched and 'Marceline' cackled, soon awaking in the room he started in, however, this time his staff was gone. A voice emerged from all around him when he saw that 'Allen' and 'Marceline' had gone.

"Try to cheat again and I will take more from you." came the voice of the Palace-master "You will do the trials alone... and each time you cheat these trials get a fraction harder. Don't break the rules." Henry pulled himself to his feet and groaned, his hands feeling lonesome without the comforting feel of the staff.

(End of character intervention; just thought it was necessary to keep us alone... and in-character.)

Subject: The Doors

Allen looked between the four doors in the now well lit, but still gloomy, corridor and hall. He glanced at the fifth door and sighed, 'Great, some random demon's trapped us all. I don't even remember who I am!' he thought to himself as Marceline examined the doors intently.

"I can see strange pictures on the doors, Allen." Marceline spoke and smiled. The teen walked over to the door she stood by and looked deeply at a small carving in the wood. On the first was a tiny face, scrunched up as though in massive concentration or pain. The second was a minuscule circle with a long beak. The third had a small skull, cracked open by a thin blade. The fourth had a crying face upon it and the fifth had a single round eye that had the illusion of watching him.

"This place is weird, Marceline." he huffed and sat at the bottom of the steps.

"C'mon Allen, it could be fun! Do the door with the circle, that one doesn't seem too bad." she smiled optimistically with a tone of encouragement.

"Yeah, but it could also be the worst thing ever." he stood anyway, in spite of himself, and moved to the door with the circle. "Here goes..." he winced as he edged the door open a crack, only to have it flung open wide and suck him inside with a single cry, sealing behind him. Marceline tried to yank open the door, failing abysmally. She sighed and sat, wondering why she hadn't been sucked in too, and began to play her guitar.

Just mentioning, we are all in a 'dark castley environment'... I stated it in my post, I'm just mentioning it because of the MEGA WHITENESS of the place Me-Mow is in.

Quote:- "Allen, Me-Mow, Umbronine, Raiuo and Henry awoke each in an ornate castle, alone. A red carpet adorned the floor and stretched into the blackness while candles in braziers lit the immediate area. The darkness felt constricting and only the few doors spattered around the lit space gave any kind of solace, however remote."

Allen stood, looking at the large group that had appeared out of nowhere. "Who ARE all of you?" he asked (Argh, trying to prevent metagaming!), confused "Well, except Henry..." he scratched his head. "Man, I wish I knew what was going on." as he said this, two tendrils of black energy extended from his earrings to his temples, and after a few moments they broke away and dissolved.

"So... we're in some alternate universe?" he scratched his head again "That still doesn't explain who all of you are, though." he looked at them all and then realization hit "Wait a minute!" he declared "You, cat, and... hold on..." he yanked Raiuo from the ground and he spluttered for air "Yeah, you... weren't you fighting?" he turned to the large bird "And didn't you stop them...?" the trio responded only with Me-Mow's snoring and Raiuo's heavy breathing. "Whatever!" he declared "I just wanna get out of here... back to where I came from. I must have family or something waiting for me."

Allen began to storm off as a darkness descended from the sky. A huge vortex of blackness sucked the six of them (including Blue) into the center of the field, the grass of which quickly shriveled and died. A huge shadowy face emerged from the black void around them and looked on them with eyes of the darkest night. The face spoke then.

"Here ye, oh pathetic mortals. My servant shall soon indulge thy in his trials, and thy shall perish. Thy bodies will be broken and split asunder, and thy soul shall be fed to me. There is nothing thou can do other than pass the trials. Thy will be able to speak to one another, but my power will inevitably hold thy apart. Now, AWAY, TO MY PALACE!" he roared and the vortex closed in.

Allen, Me-Mow, Umbronine, Raiuo and Henry awoke each in an ornate castle, alone. A red carpet adorned the floor and stretched into the blackness while candles in braziers lit the immediate area. The darkness felt constricting and only the few doors spattered around the lit space gave any kind of solace, however remote.

Allen stood and looked into the distant darkness, noticing the slumbering dog next to him 'well at least Blue's here...' he thought "I wish Marceline was here." he murmured, and soon he stood in the darkness with the smiling girl accompanying him.

(response to Pyroboom) You shouldn't 'take a break' that'll just slow the whole thing down. Post, but don't lead with your posts; try to allow others to manipulate what you've said as opposed to stating something like 'She fell down and died'. Instead say 'She fell to the ground and Ny-Nan approached her body to see if she was finally dead.'

As the type of story it is, (Free form) you can just be a passenger. For instance, with the last arc, I ensured that SIP was dead in my one response. This was due to her becoming too powerful. However, if I had let her go, someone else might have done something else.

Some handy advice: If you have an idea, then jot it down; use it later. You can wait for someone else to set up the opportunity for you. Sometimes, though, you need to railroad it, and that is necessary, but you can just go along with it, trying to predict what the current storyteller is doing and not barring them to their ideas.

Example (again): Rawrin tries to start an arc with the Fire Emperor of the Flaming lands... but when he starts his cool idea (for instance), Henry douses the Emperor, barring Rawrin and ending the arc before it even thought to begin.

(Oh yes, I didn't see that. It's all good now.)
Allen looked at the person in front of him; his eyes were enlarged by his massive spectacles and in his hand he held a newly forged staff, although Allen had no clue how that had happened.

"So," Allen murmured "two days, huh?" he sighed "I guess that means we're going somewhere. What's this portal you're talking about?" he looked at the warlock intently.

"It should lead us back home... and I'm damn sure that it will." Henry replied, looking into the distance past Allen. "Should we set off? We do have no time to lose." he asked then, and Allen nodded in response. The two of them began moving away when a small blue dog dropped from above and landed on the ground next to them. Something stirred inside Allen's mind and he plucked it from the ground.

"Aw, it's cute." he said, placing the dog in his satchel "I'll call it Blue the Dog." and before they knew it, they were on the move once more. However, when they passed over a grassy hill they saw something on the other side... something that made both of them gulp in anxiousness.

Allen was sitting opposite Marceline as she played out a smooth song on her guitar when he heard a sudden noise behind him. Turning to look and shielding his gaze from the glaring sunlight, he stared at a figure nearby, rising to their feet. He couldn't tell whether it was a girl or a guy on account of the hood overhanging their face (it IS supposed to be gender-swapped). The figure spoke to something then "Ah well, hell, figure it out and come back later." the figure then turned and jumped at the sight of the two. "Oh hello, I didn't see you there."

Allen rose to his feet as the person approached him. The cloaked figure then extended an exceedingly shaky hand and murmured "My name's Henry..." Allen took the figure's hand suspiciously and shook slowly "Nice to meet you." they said.

Allen smirked and then spoke "My name's Allen; last name Walker." he turned his head then to look at the smiling Marceline "And that's... nobody." he said, Marceline's body then drifting away into a cloud of dust that wafted away slowly.

"So," he said, letting go "what are you doing here? I thought I was alone."

So... wha-? Azura doesn't exist currently... but is on Pheo/Umbronine's back... and is exiting the Nightosphere; into which she or any of the others ever entered.

W/e, I will act as though that didn't happen and continue with the Gender-swap arc. So... who's with Allen currently? Just Henry?

Also, Allen doesn't have a crown, his black earring studs act as his crown.

Was kinda looking forward to a break... but this arc may be quick and a good intro to a villain who doesn't get super-powerful instantly... but is enough time to explore as another character. This dimensional shifting can't be good for a normal human (like Azura). So something interesting might happen with that (Real -> Nightosphere -> Real, almost die -> fanfiction -> probably Real).

Anyway, looking forward to a break after THIS arc. Ugh.

Subject: Back! (After long hiatus)

Azura could no longer hold onto the flimsy tree she had grabbed, and flew into the portal as she yelled out to Rawrin. She spiraled through a vortex, her clothes transforming into a brown/ red flannelette shirt, unbuttoned to reveal the dark shirt underneath, and dark grey skinny jeans. Her hat turned into a pair of black stud earrings and attached to her ears and her hair quickly altered into a disheveled dark brown style on her new male face.

(S)he watched as her skin paled a bit and felt her face and body reform even more into an attractive young man. (She felt some other things change too, but I won't get into that...) Her shoes then transformed into a pair of converse style boots. After all of this, he was dropped on his butt in the remnants of a bench. He stood from the now collapsed seat and rubbed his behind *what?* he thought he looked down then, at his body and moved his hands down his torso and lower body, making sure it was real. He grabbed a shard of a mirror from the ground nearby and looked at his perfect face *wow... I'm really... wow*.

Pulling himself from his narcissistic daze, he looked across at the mass of rubble. *Where am I?* he thought *And more importantly... who am I?* "Hmm..." he murmured, noticing something in his pocket and retrieving his wallet; opening it. Within it was a single gold coin with a skull on it and a faded picture of him with the name 'Allen Walker' on the back. He shrugged "Allen Walker it is." and began to walk towards the edge of the little island he seemed to be on. The waters beneath the rim were of a black variety and he did not want to touch it.

"I don't blame you." came a voice behind him. He swiveled around quickly and faced a small cloaked figure of about knee height and about as wide as a dining chair. "The waters are poison. Many came before you did, but were not so smart... or lucky." the thing chuckled "You see, the boat rocked as they leaned over... and in they went." it chuckled again "But I liked the look of you... so the boat didn't rock."

"How do I get off of this island?" Allen asked the small thing.

"Well, Allen, there is one way... but it shall cost you."

*How does he know my name... I only just learned my name...*

"I read your wallet."

*What? He read my wallet? When... and... did he just read my thoughts?*

"Nothing can hide from me here." said the thing, interrupting his train of thought once again. "Now; the cost."

"What is it?" the young man asked nervously as the small creature hobbled around him with its cane.

"All I ask... is a favour... that I can call in at any time."

"Yeah." spoke the boy "Whatever, that's like... nothing. Don't worry about it. It's a deal." he extended his hand, but the thing did not take it.

"Good Luck." said the thing as he reached forward with his cane, causing an extension of refuse to stretch into the distance from the island. Allen began walking until he came to a point in the road where a skull gazed at him from the trash. He turned, expecting to see the small man, but alas... just black water. Eventually he arrived at a grassy outcrop, where the pathway fell under the waves and vanished from site. The young man eased forwards along the precipice until he came to yet another ruin... but here he watched as a cat dueled a human expertly, both very close to victory at all times, when a magnificent avian descended from the sky, accompanied by meteors.

Soon enough, the three had left the scene, leaving Allen alone in the destruction. He sighed and sat down, bored"I- er- I wish that I wasn't alone." he whispered, feeling a tingling coming from his stud earrings. A black light then stretched in front of him and a shadowy girl appeared. "Who are... who are you?" Allen said to her; she was quite tall with a mass of black hair. She wore what seemed to be a t-shirt and jeans with tall boots at the end of her legs. In one hand she held a musical instrument. "Who..?"

"I don't know..." she spoke in a voice that sounded like fifty women overlapped into one "I was created by your mind... name me please." she said then.

"Well... my name's Allen (apparently), and... well, you remind me of someone I once knew. So... I'll call you Marsha? Was that it? No... Marceline. There." The girl smiled then.

"I like it." she smiled with him and began to play an indie tune on what now appeared to be a guitar, singing with a beautiful voice that flowed with the music. (Allen's 'crown' (his earrings) has the power to grant wishes to some extent. I am yet to decide of Azura has this as well in the main world when he changes back (if he ever does).)

Ice Princess lay next to Pink, who was still stuck half in the Nightosphere. She sighed as she felt her body slowly replenishing, somehow she had survived too... it also appeared that, for now, the others had forgotten about her. She rejuvenated eventually, after a half an hour, and managed to shakily walk over to the scorched grass where SIP had died. Lying there was a pile of bones that seemed to be shifting slightly every few moments. As Azura approached the bone pile it suddenly formed into a skeletal being; Death. He turned to her and quickly questioned "Where is that traitor of a daughter?"
"She was destroyed..." spoke the Princess and sighed "Are you going to kill me?" she asked then, but only received laughter.
"I do not kill unless someone enters my castle and does not beat me in a music competition."
"I see..." she said.
"I believe this crown is yours?" said Death, lifting the darkened artifact from the ground, and the Princess lifted her hands to take it, however, she got a rather large shock *Pink skin? Wha?*
"Um... yes, that's mine; but I don't think it works anymore..."
"No," said Death "It assuredly does not work the way it did before, however, the presence of the crystals caused a new power to be imbued." He smiled (only shown by his eyes) and then spoke again "I shall use the hole around your cat as a passage now, and you may have him back."
Death approached Pink and pulled him from the ground, dropping him as he turned "Let me restore the Night-o locks for you..." he turned again and raised his arms "Movitatum est Aloramie et Voristutis!" blackness rose from the hole in front of him and shot across the sky.
Death then turned yet again "Here..." he pulled off his hat and a strange flower pot sat there "I thought you might want a Princess Plant too. This one is quite small and the soil does not fall out, also... let me change the form of your crown," he pulled out a large dark red hat from within his own hat (like Marceline's from What was Missing) and touched the crown with it, and the crown vanished. He then gave that to her as well "It will change with the flower power" The Princess took them both and the 'crown' and smiled. He spoke again "If you want to know how you survived with that link created between you and my daughter, I suggest asking that Cat of yours... the one with the gem in his head; he was mainly responsible for your safety."
"Goodbye Death." she said as he waved and stepped into the hole, closing it up as grass soon after.

She sighed contentedly, stuffing Pink, the flower and the sweater into her bag and turned around. The Rainicorn was there again, and it smiled, soon flying away. The Princess laughed happily as it drifted on some clouds and burst through the light of the moon, flying away. Azura soon smelled fish and, as she placed the hat on her head (which restored her clothes and changed them varying colors of black, brown and crimson), began to seek the smell, soon arriving at the camp.

Henry was digging into some delicious fish with Ny-Nan and Rawrin as a ghostly pale being stepped out of the trees "Wha...?" he asked in surprise before he jumped to a conclusion "Hyooman!" and pointed at the shocked girl, who's fish head was surely being covered by her large hat. Though very attractive and having clothes in almost pristine condition, this Hyooman was probably a savage, just like the rest. "Attack!" yelled Rawrin and the girl cowered in fear.

Ice Princess and the others looked up in shock as a huge monstrosity emerged before them, breaking through much of the trees surrounding it. It laughed sadistically and revealed its cargo, a small crushed skeletal figure; Death. Finally, it spoke in a demonic voice that stretched across the land for miles. "You fools will now know my power!" and began to surround Death with some kind of aura. However, as it did this, a whooshing noise could be heard and above the group appeared a long rainicorn, glaring at the beast and holding a Pink Sweater with a heart sewn into it as well as a carton of bug milk. "이와 함께 죽었습니다." it said, and dropped the sweater. Rawrin leapt into the air and grabbed the sweater, all in one movement, throwing it at the huge monster. As he did, Pheo flew up and grabbed ahold of him and flew extremely fast at the monster. Henry then caught the bug milk and waited as Rawrin caught the monster by surprise and scored a smiling face into its chest (it's screams were deafening), then, Henry threw the milk and it splattered on the face and Rawrin yelled "Maloso vobiscum et cum spiritum!"

The creature, cancelling its Night-o powers out with the portal was imploded and after a few moments only Ny-Nan, Death and a crown lay where it once stood. SIP was finally destroyed.
