“We need the work and this doesn’t sound too risky. I’ll have to do the negotiating myself, but I’ll need back up… that’s not the nicest area. JC… you been around here so I hope you’ll know what and who to watch out for. Maybe they’ll see you all spiffed up and folks’ll think twice before crossing us……… Tess it’ll be easier to get the particulars of how to get where were going if you can ask um yourself. Second hand info ain’t always clear…….Angela” Jon sighed as he remember her action in the alley “I want you to come too, Grace will get you any special instruction if they are needed”

Tess nodded as if she expected Jon’s orders and she went off to her room; there she checked out her gear and strapped on the Speed Draw holster to her lower right thigh. Making sure her Heavy Pistol was loaded up she slipped that into the holster. She then began to check out her ‘trinkets’ she would bring with her; of course her goggles were sitting atop of her head and her black feather stuck into her hair, but along with those she slipped a couple of small items into her cargo pants. A purple bit of cloth, 7 Chinese coins of various denominations, size and color, a small ceramic Turtle (2”), and a cat’s eye stone (1”)

She opens a drawer and brings out a simple necklace, it is cheap metal, looking hand-made even, of a four leaf clover suspended by a simple small link chain; slipping it around her neck she nods thinking her good luck is now assured.

Opening a case she slips a flash-bang grenade into each of her two last pants pockets, just in case. She was hoping, with all the ‘luck’ she was bringing along, that everything was going to work out, but it never hurt to be prepared in case the worst happened.

Persephone, Eavesdown Docks, Badger’s Office, 6:00 pm ST

Walking into Badger’s office, Tess tries to hang bang a little behind Jon and JC as she tries to look just like another woman in the group. Her exorbitant style of dress usually made her stand out, but she didn’t want to appear anything more than a simple Pilot. She was surprised at the apparent lack of a pat-down or that their weapons weren’t taken; this Badger must be pretty sure of himself and his safety to let them in so armed.

Her quick eyes took in everything, studying the area and the people. The two handsome men drew her attention for a moment longer than others; she gave a slight smile to them and raised an eyebrow before moving on to look at Badger himself. He seemed rather eccentric himself, she didn’t get the Bowler hat though; totally out of style.

Badger smiles but makes no attempt to shake hands. He gestures to the table before you, “Since this is our first face to face, I thought we’d start out on the right foot. Compliements of me – I’m Badger. Now I hears that you have a fast ship and that you are reliable. That be two things I have a real use for right now.”

Tess smiled at the food, she was hungry and before Angela came aboard everyone made fun of her for the amount she would eat, but not anymore; Angela put twice as much or more away then Tess. Without waiting for word from Jon, she walked over to the table and looked over the food. This was far better than what they usually had aboard ship, though she remembers many a fond meal that Ma use to make on Rocinante that was far superior to most. Lifting a pitcher of Orange liquid and sniffed (assuming it smells good, Orange Juice maybe), she pours herself a glass with one hand while grabbing sandwich, sniff, tuna maybe, with the other hand.

She let Jon handle the business end until she was needed she would take advantage of their host’s generosity; who knew when things might change. Sniffing out the cookies; she held the sandwich in her mouth so she would have a free hand and grabbed about 4 cookies and shoved them in one of her cargo pants pockets. She would make sure to save some for Grace since she couldn’t come.

Subject: Enter the Pilot!

Tess was overjoyed to get a message from Grace saying she was alive and that somehow she had saved Destiny as well. While she had come to like most of the crew aboard the Rocinante, it was not home to her. Destiny was home, the people aboard it were family and she had to go back to her home and family. She packed up her few belongings, making sure to bring along her ‘trinkets’ and said her goodbyes.
Captain Wyatt so reminded her of her Captain Jon; they both were strong individuals who inspired people to follow them and looked out for them.

Tess was going to miss Willow a lot; she liked hanging out with her and had learned a lot of makeup tips from her. Though Willow had tried to get her to change her hair, she made it clear it was off limits.

She would miss Ma the most; even though the woman didn’t talk, she took good care of the crew and was as much a Mother as Tess’s own mother had been. Ma was a good listener and Tess would sometimes talk to her for hours and never had to worry about a response.

Ash, the Kid, Tess had grown fond of the young man, she learned not to let his youthful appearance fool her; he was a very capable fighter and gunslinger that she would be proud of to have at her side in a firefight any day.

Wolf? She didn’t really get along with the mechanic that well; she guessed it was because he always seemed to be breaking her ship. He was no Grace that was for sure!

Tess didn’t really have much time to get to know John or Sifu so it was no loss there really even though she had found them to be pleasant companionship thus far.

Overall she was going to miss Rocinante; the ship was different than Destiny, all ships were different, but she preferred the one she was most familiar with so therefore she was going back to Destiny, her home.

One month later, she rounded the corner of the shipyard, she smiled to see it there, landing gear down and cargo bay open. Grace was there in an old patio chair, waiting for her.

“Mei-Mei!” They both exclaimed loudly and ran to each other to hug like sisters long separated. Jon soon came out to join in the reunion.

“Welcome Back Tess. We have missed you. “ Jon said.

“Glad to be back.” Tess said happily, “We ready to fly?”

“Whenever you are.” Grace answered, “But you need to meet the crew. We have some new people that will take ... some getting use to – but I think we will be a good fit together.”

Grace hadn’t been kidding about the new crew; she greeted Steph warmly and noticed that the Doc seemed to have a new glow about her. She suspected but it didn’t take long for her suspicions were confirmed; her and the Captain. Well it was about time.

The two new crew members were different; she remembered JC from the old days, but she didn’t remember him being like this the last time they had parted company. He definitely had seen better days; he seemed to be improving each day.

Angela was… strange. Grace had explained what she knew about her but it all seemed so strange and sad. Alliance experiments? Tess wondered what of the real person was left inside. Most of the time Angela seemed ok, but once in a while she noticed little quirks. She sensed a dangerous person with a lot of potential; she just hoped it could be controlled.

Tess had been a little put off with some of the changes that Grace had to make to get the ship back in operation; it wasn’t anything major just… different. She didn’t like different. Destiny was still Destiny but she had changed as well and it would take Tess awhile to get use to the changes. She was glad to get her back into the black and work out the ‘kinks’.

Her ‘trinkets’ back in their usual spots; she gently caressed the controls as if it were a lover she hadn’t seen in a long time. The thought brought back memories of Ken; he was gone, shot down while defending Destiny. She remembered the times they had been together; the times afterwards when he always tried to insinuate that she still wanted him. Well, maybe sometimes she had; they had some good times together but that had been all in the past. Now it was all gone, along with other members of the crew.

As she hit the switches to power up the engines she also activated the ship-wide comm; “Button ‘er up. We headed out into the black!”

As her panel went green, showing all exterior hatches and vents were sealed tight, she pulled back on the control yoke as she slowly increased the power and lifted her out of the shipyard and into the sky. Once clear of atmo, she set a course for their next destination, Beaumonde. The stink of the tonnes of tzao gao in their hold drifted up even to the cockpit. She set the best possible course and speed, without going to full burn, so they could get this ‘cargo’ unloaded and off her precious Destiny as soon as possible.

Persephone, Eavesdown Docks, Destiny Common room, 1:00pm ST

They were all gathered in the Common area, Grace said she had good news, “I got us a job and with the way this guy works, we won’t have to worry about the smell scaring him off.”

Grace had a line on a local underworld boss by the name of Badger who was looking for a fast ship to ferry five passengers to a cruise ship for a big event. People had to be there on time, no delays. Badger was a criminal thug with delusions of grandeur but he had connects and ran jobs – a lot of jobs. A good run could make your reputation.

The meeting was set up for 6 pm that evening to discuss the job and payment, at the underground business office of Badger himself. Could things be finally turning your way?

Somehow Tess doubted it; Badger? The name didn’t ring a bell but then underworld bosses were not her specialty. She wasn’t the face person; she guessed they didn’t have one really anymore.

“What do you know of this “Badger’?” Tess asked Grace.

“Underworld Bosses aren’t the most trustworthy and besides his name doesn’t really instill a lot of trust,” she finished with a faint chuckle.

Ah Ody, read your post and Ash is a little confused. The case they are using for the 'diversion' is the fiddler's case as he puts it.

Here is Wyatt's Post:

Locating the young gunfighter, Wyatt removed the case he’d retrieved from behind the couch from underneath his arm and tossed it to Asher.

The case behind the couch was the one Jessy had hidden and she had the one with the Violin. Matherson has his own case which is the one with the 'drugs' in it.

Just wanted to point that out in case you wanted to correct your post, or leave it that way to show that even Ash is confused by the 'shell game' with the identical cases.

The last bomb planted, the last picture taken, they headed back to the Mule; Jessy set the case back into the Mule as she moved to climb aboard.

“You’re pretty good with this Fahn Leong Jian, almost seems like you’ve had practice.” Ash smiled as they climbed back in the mule to head back to the boat.

Jessy cast a sideways glance at Ash and saw the little smile; she raised an eyebrow and thought for a moment about what he said. Yeah she had experience at cons, that was for sure, but most people couldn’t spot it; less they were in the same business as her.

“Well, I have been around the block a few times, ” she said with a smile of her own.

“Miss Jessy, I don’t rightly know what you might have done before this,...but I know Wyatt and if he’s on your side so am I. He’s put his trust in you and that ain’t something that comes easy.” The gunslinger said as the Mule took off headed back towards the ship.

“I’ve only done what I needed to survive,” she said softly, the words barely carried over the noise of the wind.

After a minute or so Ash spoke up, “ This whole situation is going to get very nasty…. I think you’re going to need more than those knives of yours.” Trying not to look too smug he continued, “It’s my job to try and keep the crew safe so I’ve learned to be watchful…. That dress you wore didn’t leave much room for hide’n them blades. I’m sure Mr. Whitesuit and his boys saw them too……….. When we get back I’ve an extra Colt 22 that'll fit them pockets and maybe something with a little more fire power……….. ever handled an Uzi?”

“A little while ago you locked me up and now you’re offering me a gun?” she said with a slim raised eyebrow and a small smile on her lips, “things around here sure do move fast.” She thought on his offer for a moment before she looked at Ash again.

“I’m not much one for guns,” she said with a shrug, “but it might be good to have a small one handy, maybe the .22?”

She looked down at the coveralls and where she had the slim blades stored; there was no sign of them here so he must have seen them back when she was wearing the torn gown. She hated to kill anyone but if the choice came down to her life or someone else’s then she wanted to be the one still walking away.

“You all better watch out for that Fay Fay duh Pee yen* Matherson,” she said as they came up to the ship and he slowed the mule, “he has his own agenda and shouldn’t be trusted.”

When they got to the ship she hopped out and grabbed the silver case and followed Ash; she assumed they would report in to the Captain on the completion of their mission; she hoped all this was worth it.

The mule sped across the plain as the two headed away from the caves. “We gonna try to lead those Merc’s on wild chase if’n we can. That there case’ll be the bait. Wyatt feels if we can make them think we hid it they’ll go alooking. Now we’ll also ambush them by planting them bombs back there to take out as many as we can before we got to go up against them….. We’ll get some images of the case being hid and send via the comm so they’ll intercept them. You can help me find some good place so keep an eye out as we near them hills over there.”

Jessy turned her eyes to looking for any good hiding places and was silent for a moment before she asked, "I sure hope 'you' know how to set them explosives. I dont want to end of in pieces trying to set this trap." She turned a smile to him and then went back to searching.

She thought about what made a good hiding spot; you needed landmarks of course to find your way back to the spot. She saw mostly rocky terrain, the wind frome the mule was whipping her hair around in her face. She took a moment to pull her hair back in a ponytail to keep it back out of her face.

"There!" she said pointing at a rocky hill side where a couple of tall rocks jutted towards the sky, "that looks good."

They hopped out and she took the case while Ash grabbed a couple of shovels. They dug a hole and then she pretended to cover it up again as Ash took pictures.

"Make sure to get those two tall rocks in the background," she told him as he snapped away, "that way they might recognize them and be drawn to this spot."

Once he was done she removed the case and then helped him with the explosives. She was leary here, she didnt like things that went boom and blew you to bits. Once the bomb was in place, she took a few steps back and let him arm the thing. If it didnt go off, she returned and helped him finish hiding it.

"Maybe snap a couple more images of it now to show what it looks like buried," she said as she took the shovels back to the mule.

Once they were done here, she hopped in and as they roared off to the next site where they would repeat the process, "so how many of these things do we have?" she asked.

(OOC: I expanded a bit, hope you don't mind Ody. Please fill in anywhere you like and we can continue till we are back at the ship. )

Wise!

Actually I think Denver's toughest challengers will be weeks 11-13.

Week 11: Kansas City Chiefs
Week 12: New England Patriots
Week 13: Kansas City Chiefs

Though if the Pats keep playing the way they are it might not be that much of a challenge.

Subject: Getting caught up

While Jessy waited in the room she pondered her predicament and wondered how it had come to this. What luck to end up on a ship that carried a priceless violin, a ship someone was willing to blow up so they could steal back the violin and collect the insurance. It was a good plan, one that she would have thought up if she was that ruthless. She didn't mind stealing from people, especially rich people, but she drew the line at killing innocent people. In fact she made it a point to only steal from people that could afford it; poor people had nothing worth stealing anyway.

But what luck that she had ended up here in a life or death situation; she just couldn't seem to get a break. Now she was here in this room waiting for a crewman to come and get her so that she could help get them out of this situation. She sighed and wondered again how these things always happened to her.

The door to the room opened and the young crewman stepped in carrying a pair of coveralls; she remembered speaking to him earlier.

“I don’t rightly remember anyone actually introducing us, I’m Asher Talhome, most folks call me Ash.“ Ash couldn’t help but admire that even in the torn and now overly revealing gown she was an elegant beauty. Holding out the coveralls, “I thought these might make it easier on you, we might be getting a bit dirty in the next hour or so….you can slip um over your dress if ya like.”

“My name is..” she almost said her cover name but then decided quickly to tell the truth, for once, “Jessy. I figure now is not the time for more lies.” She said with a faint smirk.

Looking at the coveralls she took them and then nodded. It would make sense and besides this dress was meant more for dancing than working.

“Thank you but if you dont mind I will change,” She said then turned back into the room and began to remove the dress, “Give me a minute.” She shut the door to the room but it wasn't out of modesty. Slipping out of the dress she tossed it aside, revealing the daggers strapped to her thighs and torso. It wouldn't do to let them see her few meager weapons. Putting on the coveralls, she made sure to move the daggers so that she could access them if need be. The coveralls were a little looser than the dress which was better to hide them. In about 60 seconds the door opened and she stepped out to join Ash.

“Lead on and show me what we need to do.” She told Ash as she followed him.

Jessy hopped in the mule next to Ash and offered to hold the case while he drove; if he gave her a look or hesitated she smiled, “Don't worry, I gave it up. If I wanted to keep it I wouldn't have told your Captain where to find it.”

She waited till the rest was loaded and then held on as Ash drove the mule out of Rocinante. They made it to the caves where it seemed the passengers were headed to hide; once they dropped off a big pot of that soup she had ate some of earlier and other supplies then back in the mule she was now alone with Ash and the case.

Ash explained the plan of taking pictures of the case in different locations so they could make the ones after it that it was hidden but they wouldn’t know where.

“Seems simple enough,” she said, “but what is it I heard earlier about explosives?”

(OOC: Ok, think I am caught up. We can post back and forth as much as needed to get the job done and then back to the ship.)
