So what are some pieces of equipment that you never let your character leave the castle with?

I'm still game to play, but considering I started this post almost 4 years ago, and you are the first person to respond... I don't think that there is much point...

That said. If a few more people do want to play. We can get started.

I'm bummed that we end with my character splayed out on the floor by a bugbear, but hey that is the way things go. :-/

As yells erupted throughout the room Pavel remained silent, as he dropped his cross bow.

A noisy enemy is terrifying, but a silent enemy is by far the worse, because you never know what to expect from them.

Picking up his sword and shield Pavel moves around (or over if necessary) the obsticles, and advances on the bugbear. Once in range, Pavel swings his weapon trying to deliver a killing blow.

OOC: for attack I rolled a 19 +6 = 25, dmg = 3 + 4 = 7

IC: Pavel grins as his sword bites deep.

Would Pavel be able drop his xbow, pick up sword and shield, and still attack?

just tossing it out there, but why do they need a name at all?

Unless their group is part of some military why worry about it, and if they are military, then give them an appropriate military name.

Does it add anything to the game, or take away from it that they don't have one? Or perhaps let their in-game actions dictate the name of the party.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

During the surprise round those who are unaware cannot act, and lose their dexterity bonus to AC (including dodge if they have a dodge bonus).

I would think that would be the same in 5 ed, because this has been a universal rule from the beginning of D&D...

Just my 2 cents.

Pavel sets his sword on the ground and takes out his crossbow, and indicates to the others that they should also take out a ranged weapon.

Once everyone is ready, Pavel mimes that he will take the bugbear, and that the others should each take a goblin.

When everyone is set, Pavel motions:
1.
2.
3!

As quietly as possible rises above the crates, takes aim, and fires at the bugbear.

OOC: Rolled a 17 + 5 Ranged attack bonus = 22
I hope that is a hit... Rolled a 6 for damage, for a total of 9

I hope that it was alright to post in this fashion rather than answer in the Q/A

I was wondering about trying to garrote the bugbear. Take him out quick before he can bring the club to bear.

Pavel will take a peek...

That said, what direction are the goblinoids facing?

Is the bugbear with his back to us, but the goblins facing us? etc.

Once the wolves were taken care of, Pavel poked his head into the chute to see what there was to see.

OOC: assuming there is nothing of interest to be seen

IC: "There's nothing up there that I can see. Which one of you are going to climb up?" Pavel whispered.

Sorry about that. I didn't realize it was my turn.

The Ranger is the logical choice, as to send up a light gives us away...

That said....

Now that the wolves are gone, when we look up the chute can we see anything of interest? Light at the top for instance?

Sorry things have been crazy... it is a deadline week....

Pavel will wait on climbing. Let one of the others go first, and if there is a reason to climb, then go ahead.

if required I rolled a 12

If the ranger it truly alright with killing the animals, then I will go along with the majority on this one.
