yeah, oskarr's keeping on. Though, I would add that I think we're all actively paying attention to our surroundings, especially now that we've come across a trap. Oskarr is definitely trying to pay attention.

feel free to npc Oskarr, or kill him off... or drop him at the next town and pick up some new players.

I won't be posting i don't think for those weeks i'm away. we pull into some small town twice a moth for a weekend, and i'm pretty sure i'll be busy with other stuff. if the game's still around when i get back and there's still space maybe i can play.

Subject: Okay, okay

"Well?" Dane said, after reporting what they had found from their searching.

Oskarr had hoped the two would have reported clear signs that the Gundren and his companion had simply lost their horses in the ambush with goblins and had proceeded on their way.

The evidence pointed to a different outcome.

"Hurmmm," grumbled the mercenary. He hated it when the mission went awry. It rubbed against the grain on his soldiering life. You always complete the mission.

And then, his dwarven blood kicked in and scolded him for leaving all these provisions behind for some other folk to take possession freely, for who would stop them? What a waste.

Beyond that, Oskarr was having a hard time coming to terms with what the evidence was saying. It was an indignity... captured by a pack of goblins?! He could scarcely think it! How could Gundren allowed such a thing to happen!

Quite the place you've put me in, cousin! Oskarr thought.

"Help me secure these provisions off to the side, now, then," the Cleric grumbled. "Let's get on with this nasty business."

OCC: Oskarr is looking to secure the cart off the road if possible and then follow the trail left by the group of humanoids.

Oskarr spoke up, "Aye, you have a point, lad. Still, won't be any good to leave the cart unattended." Thinking a moment, the dwarf proposed, "How 'bout we make a walk around the site here. If we pick up a trail, the two of you follow it, while I stay with the cart. You lads will likely be a bit quieter and quicker than I."

Oskarr, warhammer in hand, brought the weapon head down on the goblin, putting the near dead creature out of it's misery.

Calling out to Pavel, Oskarr said, "Bring the wagon up here, lad. Lookin' like we may have lost our employer. The horses bear his mark."

If Oskarr felt any concern or grief for his cousin, he didn't show it, save a comment, "Damn, Dane. Thinkin' know that I wish we had chased down that last one. Damn shame to be ended by these little beasts. Gundren deserved better."

Oskarr waited for Pavel to join him and Dane before continuing. "While Gundren's horse definitely lays here dead, my cousin does not. Perhaps the two fended off the ambush and continued to make their way to Phandelver. I say we mark this spot and continue on our way to finish the mission. Should we not find news of our employer in Phandelver, maybe we come back here and chase down that trail we saw the goblin take. What say you?"

Subject: Searching

Oskarr is looking to search the dead bodies and check out the dead horses to see if they have any insignias or recognizable symbols that might tell him about the riders of the horses (are they rich, or poor, military, or common, etc)

Oskarr grabbed hold of a nearby tree truck and caught his breath for a moment. "I'm done, Dane. Whatever the mangy boot licker knows ain't worth twistin' an ankle over. I'm heading back. You comin'?"

Oskarr turned to head back to the dead horses and their caravan.

Oskarr will follow suit with Dane... do you want us to post something to that effect in game, Lano? Or do you just want to move the game forward based on this knowledge?

Subject: so what's up?

what's up with this game? I feel like we've lost two PCs for sure. time to cut them loose before the game fizzles, I think.

for me, I'd love to see more posts in a week. to be honest, i'm losing interest. I love the posts so far, and i'm super interested in playing 5e but the pacing at the moment is hurting. I don't even remember most of what my character is about, much less anyone else's because I've interacted with it so little in the 2 months we've been playing.

I mean no offense lano. i'm speaking my mind only.

Subject: Come on, Dane?!

"Aye!" Oskarr bellows after the run away goblin. "Come back 'ere! I wasn't finished talking with you!"

With a smile firmly planted under his thick beard, the dwarf turned to his companion, "Come on, Dane! I was havin' such a nice talk with them. And now, well, we got to go run the bastard down" He claps the swordsman on the shoulder. "Aye, but you shoulda seen that one's face when your blade suddenly pops through his chest. Best moment of the fight so far."

The stocky dwarf claps Dane on the shoulder once more and asks, "Think we've given him enough of a head start?" before running after the remaining goblin.

I will laugh hard if, now that dane made the "predictable" comment, 8 more goblins are actually in the tree line waiting for us all to converge on the 4 dumb saps they sent out first.

goblins aren't THAT smart, are they?

Oskarr brought his shield and hammer back up to ready.

"Listen, now. Might want to put them blades away, hey?" Oskarr raises his bushy eyebrows and gives a nod at their dead mates. "You keep this up and I can promise you'll be dead just as quick them. Surrender, and you get to live your life a little longer. Best make this choice quick."

OOC:Your roll results:
12 Your total roll is 12.

Use the hammer (+6 attack) give Oskarr a +18 total...

Oskarr knocked back and deflect the goblins' hasty attacked, his shield arm hardly felt the weak blows.

"Time to knock some sense into ye," the priest bellowed as he swung his hammer around before dropping it down on the nearest ambusher. "Shoulda left the good folk alone, ye shifty rats."

OOC: Your roll results:
5 Your total roll is 5.

Damage on the hammer is 5 +4 (Str) = 9

Oskarr took in the scene of dead up ahead. "Slow the cart," he said to his partner before jumping down to the ground.

"Look sharp, lads," the cleric sounded. "Looks like there's been some trouble ahead."

The dwarf put the crossbow away and brought up his shield and hammer before hustling over to the dead horses. As he moved, his eyes ranged from left to right over the woods on either side, scanning for hidden assailants. "Come on, now," Oskarr spoke to the woods. "Ain't nothing to be 'fraid of. Death comes swiftly at the end of my hammer."

LaNo,

Do you roll checks for us or do we?
I'd like to make a perception check for each side of the road to search for hidden foes.

Subject: Yippie-ki-eh, mother.....

OOC: Totally fine about placing Oskarr beside you... he'd probably want to ride anyway so as not to slow the party down with his stubby legs.

IC:

Oskarr had learned through many years of moving around with the Bloodaxes how to loosen up his body to allow it the dip and bob with the wagon as it continue to plod along through the rough patches. And yet, the dwarf's eyes, like the human beside him, were alert and watchful of the road sides.

"So, Oskarr.... you were in the military I understand."

The Hill Dwarf from Sundabar was quiet for a moment, his mind flooding back to his last battle with his company. It had been a blood bath Oskarr was looking to forget.

He looked up a Pavel for a moment, trying to take a measure of the man. "Aye, Pavel. Not for any of the grand cities, mind you. Toured with the Bloodaxe Company a bit. Probably bloodied my first hammer while you were busy coming out of your mum." Oskarr gave the beefy man a wink. "I seen my way 'round a few fields of battle. Glad to see you know to keep your eyes on the sides and that crossbow handy." He sniffed the air. "This place smells like trouble. I'll be glad to pull into Phandalin. Get ourselves behind some good defenses, you know?!"
