Watching for a reaction from Galydon seemed like a bad idea. He's a wizard, thinks Ghilberti.I should be leading the way. He pops into the tower ready to take on whatever approaches, staff in hand. If he can, Ghilberti moves in front of Galydan to protect him.

Ghilberti shushes Loradive, watches Galydon to see what he reacts to, and is preparing to strike with his staff....

Ghilberti is cautious about spiders  He once was forced to sleep in a dark cave where there were hundreds of them creeping around and it scarred him for life. He gets out the components to change into a bear, confident a bear would simply scare a spider (he's not sure about this, but it makes sense to him), and prepares to do so if one appears. He then suggests that he take the lead and carefully walks around the web trying to avoid it and walks further down the path. Tippy Toes being employed.

Ghilberti wakes to a tumbling rummy and digs in his pack for a bit of packed edible leaves. Munching on a few, he thinks immediately how good some mushrooms would taste great with them.

Leaving L&G at the hut, Ghilberti does a ten minute walk around the hut looking for any grubs, edible weeds or mushrooms. He trys to stay within 150 feet of the hut as he circles around the area. He is also looking for a place to hide some bodies.

When he gets back to the hut, he collects the extra equipment from the goblins and puts them in a corner of the hut. And then he encourages the group to bring the dead to the best place he found as he circled the hut.

Afterwards, he packs up his stuff and waits for L&D to be ready to leave.

Ghilberti casts Goodberry and offers a few to Galydan and then hides back in his shell and takes a nap.

Fight, fight fight! Ghibs takes another swing!

Bounds up to the Goblins and wacks them with his quarterstaff. Looking to hit one of the goblins who were bound by vines

Ghilberti comes out of his shell and readies his quarterstaff, moving to within 20' of the closest goblin, or if he is less than 20' from a goblin, attacks it with his quarterstaff, still concentrating on the entangle spell.

Ghiberti readies Entangle. When he sees Loradove shoot an arrow, he tries to entangle the back group of goblins.

Ghilberti walks out of the hut to the other side of the road and walks to a spot he can still see the road but might be tougher to see (roll 12 for stealth... . Using his Tortle abilities hides in his shell palcing his staff nearby, holds his action, prepares to cast Entangle if he sees goblins. If they are not, well... who knows????

Ghilberti will suggest the gnome take the lead while he sits back protecting Glayden. Unless they prefer he scouts ahead by swimming ahead of the group in the river. Either way is fine with him.

Ghilberti listened closely to the gnome, and then said, "For a little one, you have wise words. A quick break here will be good, and the water looks somewhat refreshing. And then forward, on the path. I heard there may be a bridge ahead, but it is likely to be a day's march. Go ahead and eat a nibble. I'll stand watch after I fill my bottle."

Ghilberti takes off his belt and lays his pack down, puts down his staff, and walks to the shore of the river, looking for a good spot to drop in. When he finds it, he wades out four or five feet to where he can emerse himself, and then sits down in the river, head just above the water level, watching and listening, and then takes a great, big drink. He fills his water bottle, and returns to the group to watch while they eat.

As they others eat, Ghilberti looks for large, sturdy trees on both sides of the shore. He also looks for a path on the other side.

After the rest of the party has eaten, he says, "We can continue on this path, or we could cross. We hardly need to waste time with a bridge. If we found a calm spot in the river, I can swim to the other side with a rope in tow and tie the rope to a tree there on the other side. If we tied the rope over here to a tree, the line could help you cross. What's your thoughts?"

Appreciative to hear the words of people and not overhyped blowhards running the city, he listened to the woman's words and offered a sympathetic nod in recognition. He does his best to not impose on the poor woman and leaves as soon as he can, avoiding prying eyes and trying his best to look unimposing. 

After everyone is ready, Ghiberti loads up, and with quarterstaff in hand he walks to the footprints. He takes no particular note of them, other then to see if they are the markings of feet (therefore goblins) or shoes (morelikely the twins) and to judge if the steps are walking steps or running, and begins to walk toward the ridge. He does not wait for the others as Loradove does, but walks with slow and deliberate step towards the ridge. He does his best to appear patient, but the few hours in the village was enough for him. He is glad to be back in nature and keeps his eyes wide and ears open for any strange noises.

Ghilberti puts down enough for the Sheriff to buy another drink, and hands Ortloff twince what his drink cost. "Next one's on me, Sheriff. Thank you both for the information. Is it too late do you think to visit Mrs Molkin?"

Ghilberti stands up to shake Erhardt's hand. This time when he speaks he speaks louder than necessary, not yelling mind you, but just loud enough so that anyone in the tavern could hear him if they had wanted to. "It's good to meet you, sir. As my friend, the gnome here, has said my comrades and I are here because of the troubles we share regarding unwanted visitors, the kind with intents that are best only whispered about in a tavern. We hope to help rid you of the menace that surrounds us in these times, to give them a good fight, and rid us of this dangerous pack of hoodlems. Where was the last place those poor, unfortunate twins were seen? And, for what it is worth, where were these goblins last seen?"

Although he ducks, food from Lovadora's mouth lands on Ghlberti's arm. She stares at Lovadora, reaches across the table to get Lovadora's napkin, and makes a display of wiping the food off his arm. He then says, "Manners, gnome, are something everyone can excel at. If you try."

Ghilberti nods with Galydan's first questions, and in a low voice, just above the din of the tavern, says to Galyden, "Those Molkin kids seem to be our best lead. I've heard too many stories about Witch Queens and Kings in the past to put much faith in any of those rumors." 

And then, to Ortolf, "Thank you for the information. How will I know the Sheriff? Is he here now?"  

"Yes, thank you for the brew. But a small one in a large cup. We tortles are very cautious about the drink. And please a mug with a handle. My hands are not human sized. May I sit?"

When invited, Ghilberti moves a chair out of the way and sits, leaning against the back of his shell as a legs sprawl out under the table to balance him. Only his head and a small portion of his chest can be seen above the table.

"My team and I, the group of us, it is not my team but we are a team, have come because of the goblins. The Blacktooth tribes are ranging far, displacing all sorts groups. My own tribe of tortles is being raided by all sorts of creatures. My Tribe sent me on to see if I could help stop the raids and bring back peace to our part of the swamps. My group, our group, is here to help and this town and tavern seems like a place to start. What do you know of these goblins?"

After listening he asks, "Is there anyone here who has fought them recently?"

Ghilberti carefully takes the mug and takes a sip. "Is there someone here in your town we should address for advice to proceed, someone managing groups like us?"

And then: "Could you introduce us? I'd like to begin as soon as possible. There are lives to save, and evil is abound!"

Ghiberti watched carefully after they reached the clearing, searcing for a place to put himself up for the night, away from the tavern and on the edge of the woods, preferably by a stream or a pond.

When he enters the tavern, he stares back at the crowd, trying to identify any more sinister visiters. He is specifically watchful for thieves or rogues he may have to face during the night.

He shakes his head at the aproned woman. "Is Ortloff present? I have business to conduct."
