I can't take it sometimes!

So November is Election Day.

Boy oh boy, Politics is a total pain. And I think there are some really dumb AND HOSTILE people in some places on the Internet. And to see it is just disgusting.

And, in the news, I read that a teacher [political?] was suspended for talking racial stuff about the candidate Barrack Obama? Something along the lines of, "are you gonna elect a N**** for President?".

You know, if it were me, I'd be impartial like I try to be now when talking about politics. No kids should be learning that. As a start, they should learn the basics of the Houses, history of the presidents and the political paries, etc. Least that's how I feel.

What sucks is that people get on your tail with flames coming out of their mouths if they don't like the candidate you picked. "FU**IN OBVIOUS!" "YOU'D ELECT AN OLD FART/MUSLIM", "HE/SHE ANSWERED THE QUESTIONS!" "YOU WANT TAXES RAISED OR LOWERED?!".

Each side has a nasty way of making the opposing candidate look bad. And personally, I think they make their party look bad because of their behavior.

Makes me wonder, how are we going to learn anything?

It is supposed to be fair. You don't want to be taught on how to be a party memeber. If America is for the people, then we should use our brains and not be at each other throats. There have been past politicians who don't entirely follow the agenda of their party, but their character. I like balance, as do my father, but it seems that even a little balance in the House of Rep just makes things worse.

The Republician Party (GOP) is the oldest party in the world (??) and one of the main parties of the U.S.A. They were against things that I do not like, like slavery; I'm for a tough military too. To hear people speak about them as the enemy is a scary thought. To quote Chris Rock: "I got some things I'm Conservative about, I got some things I'm Liberal about."

Using these terms as insults...I don't get it at all. MAYBE I don't understand because I'm young (mid-20s) and inexperienced, MAYBE I'm supposed to be nasty-aggressive to the other side?

I'm trying my best to gather everything but...in today's Pres Debate, I was half-tired and hardly could sink in the details about the Economy stock is a weakness too...how come? Did I forget?. But, many people are right when they say that it's too easy to play the Blame Game.

So I express personal opinions today, and I'm called "linear"? not "Liberal" that too though, "linear". I'll leave the details out.

How are future voters going to learn from such a crowd?

...

As an outsider looking in, I tend to think the low tone of the US election is just a way of avoiding saying anything of substance. And that's something that cuts across both parties.

It seems to me that both sides and the US media are so accustomed to treating the US electorate as idiots that they feel it's of little worth focusing on the issues. So instead we hear that Obama might be a Muslim, Palin's youngest child might actually be her daughter's, McCain is senile...etc.

I' m impressed

and HOPEFUL!!
What a refreshing breath of air to hear younger folks not caught up in all the bs of partisan politics. It just sucks because our forefathers did not want partisan politics...but here we are.

To tell you the truth, I don't like either candidate but was going to vote McCain simply because the GOP is generally for less government intervention but after McCain and other repubs voted for that bailout I decided they just aren't practicing what their party preaches.

Sooooo...I'm now leaning toward Bob Barr, the Libertarian party candidate even though I know a third party vote will by default be a vote for Obama.

Why must we always end up voting for the lesser of two evils?

Oh

GIna: I'm a little lost, but I'm going to assume...this year's election is pretty much the rave.

Lysk: That's a new one. I don't know if they are joking on MSN, but I see people talking about voting for Nader (I think he's independent?). I never hear about Barr. It all depends on what we want. Many people find that one of the Major Candidates is a repeat of the last, and many people find the other one dangerous, inexperienced, new, etc.

I'm Canadian

Thus I have no say in the election vote-wise. And really I'm undecided anyway. I think Obama is good for the change he represents, and might start a new era in politics. I admire McCain's dedication and wisdom. But really the campaign is too ridiculous too comment on.

McCain picking Palin is just weird, ridiculous insuations about religion and terrorism is just stupid (and possibly a hate-crime?) and I think a combination of the two + the shift in US views will give it to Obama I think. But then I'm pretty sure he'll be killed by some idiot somewhere.

Also, from a mod note: Keep the thread civil, political threads often manage to trainwreck.

It's either laugh or cry at times, Cirro... Might as well laugh, right?

Ya start cryin' and the politicians win, don't ya know.

With comments like that Alacrity...

...I'm already in office. That Jetpack is yours in exchange for your vote. I warn you though- I'm canadian and not old enough to run and just barely old enough to vote this year.

Hey! Yeah!

I'll get behind that ticket!

Heck, I'd even be willing to serve that administration as Secretary of Randomosity or something.

Ya'll come vote now, eh?
