mmmm... the hobbit... yummy

Eagerly looking forward to it everybody, looking forward to gaming with this fine group'a khords. Also, love the Tolkien reference Loki.

I'm assuming that I should wait for you to write an introduction for my character before I go posting willy-nilly?

Game of references

I'm looking forward to gaming with you all as well.

I'd like to take this opportunity to greet myself into the game and to also comment on your character name DB, loving the Viking/Norse reference

EDIT: I must actually admit that I used the name generator on the inn and Gloin was the name that came up.

Now I know how strongly he links with the LotRs I'm not so keen on playing that name as it conjurers certaint expectations.

EDIT 2: Not that a dwarf with a big axe and a throwing axe dosen't remind anyone of Gimli anyway.

Welcome

Yeah, Welcome Loki!

I really hope this is all going to work. I have two more possible players, and their yes or no will decide the course of this adventure... or rather, the concept.

If we have 8 players, than that is a bit too much for a regular group. In that case, I would split up the group into two search parties, which I think would be an awesome thing to try.
If they don't play we'll have a group of 6 or 7 players which is doable enough.

This does mean however that I may not be able to update for all of you this weekend.
Please understand where this is coming from. I want to update for all of you, for I'm very eager to do so!! But it may not be possible, since I don't want to post now and have to alter the whole game because things didn't go as I thought.

ok

Update is in for the main group. You guys have a bit to post about I would think.

Map is updated on the first page of the Q/A.

Going to add the new character sheets now.

I can't say anything yet about the splitting of the teams. I will let you guys know as soon as I can.

PLAYERS of the FIRST SEARCH PARTY

Hey gang!

So, I wanted to check and see if we're the type of players who like to discuss the in game stuff and plans and... stuff... OOC here on the Q/A board? Or are you more that just post IC and let's not chat about it?

Just checking.

I was reviewing Almerin's posts (always a good thing to do as he's regularly dropping hints and clues... very subtly, I might add)... anyway... I was struck by the description of the tracks -- little dots like thin spear tips. Spiders, maybe? Or, at least an insect creature of some kind? Your thoughts?

Now about this black pool? Ideas on how to cross it? I think walking through it might be a bad idea.

ALMERIN: How wide is the pool? How much pool do with have to cross in order to get to the rock with the shroom?

And can we tell how the khords are hanging? By their necks? With ropes? Are their feet touching the ground? Do they look dead?

Thanks!
Ayrn

Alright, here you go:

The Pool has a diameter of about 90 feet. So let's say it's about 45 feet to the boulder.

The bodies of the Khords seem to just be sticking to the stem, in various positions. Most of them look like they are hanging with their backs glued to the mushroom. Two of the adult Khords are stuck on the stem with their bellies and faces. None of them are moving.

My thoughts

What's the soil in the cave like? 'cause maybe something is dripping down from the ceiling, leaving the small pointed marks? This could be an explaination for the "Flesh had been eaten away by a foul substance". Maybe it is some kind of poison, of an animal that killed the other two khords that are lying dead on the floor aswell?

Almerin, you wrote that "The bodies of these two men were cut up". Are these fine (humanish?) cuts or are they more like torn apart?

We can try to throw some smaller fungusses in the black pool, to find out what happens. Will they melt away..? If not, together we can take down one of the big fungusses, place it over the pool (just from the edge to the boulder in the middle) and use it as a bridge.

Just my thoughts.. ^^

* oh, in the last lines is written "with a black top that leaked dark drops of sludge that fell into the pool below with thick thuds" . The substance can be dripping off the other shrooms aswell, instead of the ceiling. What do you think?

bodies

The bodies are cut up roughly... definitely not neat cuts as by a knife or sword.

As far as throwing mushrooms into the sludge goes, that is something for in-game activity.

Good thinking!

Maybe

It would be nice to toss in something that we can still hold onto. Like rope or a stick or something like that. Anyone got some?

Testing the black goop against metal would also be wise, perhaps?

Finally, Niaou'li, you could wildshape into some large bird... or griffon, maybe... and perhaps carry us across one by one. Or just fly over and take a closer looksee.

Other ideas?

some more..

I've got 50ft of rope.

After brainstorming with Loki:

I could cast a Warp Wood spell, making a wooden bridge out of some mushrooms.

Or we can simply cut a path around the pool, though then we cannot reach the boulder and the 5 khords. But there must be an easy way to find out if they are dead or not. Getting to the boulder would be nice so we can look for traces.

Mushroom is mushy

I don't think you could warp a mushroom with the warp wood spell, since it's not actually wood, and certainly not as hard. But you could give it a try.

Also, Vanadia messaged me that she'll be playing a Khord Sorcerer kind of character, meaning that the split of the group is almost official (it will be when I get the sheet).

But now I'm thinking on how to organize this whole business. I could just start a new thread as a twin to the Spores game that has been going on. OR I might just let everybody post in one game thread, since the idea is that in the end you guys might join up for something epic.

Hmmm... I'll stick with the one thread idea for now. Give me a few days on this. And of course, input is always welcome.
