Only 6!!!

How can they get away with crap like that!!
Hell even my favorite show on FX, Son's of Anarchy, only has 13!! Ohh how I miss both the show 24 and the same number of episodes in a cable series ~sigh~

How come Walking Dead only gets 6 when AMC's other show Rubicon had 13??

I wondered that, too...

The only explanation I could come up with was the relatively "late start" of the series and, maybe, the fact that they only went with six just in case it flopped? *shrugs*

Could have something to do with the time involved in getting all those zombies through the make up chairs on shooting days, too... I dunno... maybe next season will stretch out to 12... we can always hope, anyway.

Last night's ep

Merle's new nickname ought to be Lefty--unless we should start calling him C.H.U.D. instead. I wonder if that helicopter swept him away. . .still, after his frantic pleading to his higher power, then callous recant moments later, I'm pretty much done with him. We Lawful Evil types value loyalty.

Ahh and now we see the more mercenary side to Dale, if briefly--interesting.

I don't think the New Zombie Order has quite sunk in for Glenn, as much as he hated what happened to his new whip. Ah well, plenty more out there, if he wants one bad enough.

How much of Shane's butt-whooping of the wife beater was just internal angst and self-loathing externalized on a convenient target? Quite a bit, I think.

Gotta love a son's indomitable optimism in his father. If anything happens to Carl, I will be seriously put out.

Well...

...I don't hold out much hopes for the character 'long term' but, hey, Norman Reedus as Daryl!!!

Where else might we have seen Mr. Reedus?

Reedus

Most notably, in my opinion, anyway, you might remember him from the Boondock Saints movies. Also Blade 2, Mimic, 8mm, Cadillac Records (I think)... nothing anyone would consider "major" I suppose... *shrugs*

What!?

Boondock NOT major!?

Well maybe not major, but certianly epic. Huh... missed that movie on my fb '15 Influencial Movie List'

Looking forward to catching this week's dosage of the dead tonight, especially with a Boondock on.

No shortage

After this Sunday's episode, I guess it's obvious that there's no shortage of assholes in camp: Ed, Daryl, and "Lefty", at least. The question is: How many deaths will they cause before biting the dust themselves? (And that's a rhetorical question—so no spoilers please, Darth Falafel.)

The lip...

...is zipped, Darth Scabby.

Also, gotta agree with Meri, Boondock Saints is MAJORLY EPIC! The rest of Mr Reedus' resume, though... well, lets' just say I can't claim to have seen a lot of the flicks/tv series he's been in.

ok

Just watched the latest episode... wasn't too thrilled actually. A zombie horror show just isn't as good without a whole lot of zombies.

Not saying it wasn't good... but it didn't have me longing for next Sunday like the others did.

Good point

Yeah, Almerin, that's what makes me slightly worried about this whole series, actually: How long can they keep the zombies scary and relevant? It's one thing to do so in a two-hour movie, but much more of a challenge in a TV series.

The reason I stopped watching Lost was because there was just too much people, too little of the supernatural. I know some people like that kind of stuff, but I'm not really into it. Maybe I just identify more with the zombies?

Graaains...

That's the point, really...

The show's not so much about the zombies as much as it is the people that are still living. Non-stop-action-perpetual-zombie-hordes-assailing-the-characters is great for a 90 minute movie or something but try and make a series that focuses on the zombies as the "important" part of the thing and I'd be willing to bet that it wouldn't last three episodes.

I mean, if you focus on the zombies, all you've really got is a bunch of rotting, flesh eaters staggering around... It might be exciting for a while but, after a few 'victim of the week' installments you're gonna yawn out. To make the series 'mean anything' the focus has got to be on the survivors and how they deal (or not) with what's become of their suddenly and drastically changed world... and what becomes of them as they move through it... The zombies aren't going to change... The survivors are... and that's the whole premise, I think. This last episode is a perfect example, IMO...

Agreed. And from what I recall on the intro written in the comics by Kirkman that was his goal.

I think that's why I've always liked zombie stories. Zombies really aren't the greatest 'monster' all things considered. The concept behind turning into one and feasting on the flesh of your friends and family is a bit disturbing but generally they are only a threat in large numbers (although after watching this weeks episode I do have to ask... how many Georgian's does it take to take down ONE zombie?).

The real threat comes from the survivors... the breakdown of 'society' and what happens afterward is the real story, the zombies are just the catalyst.

Ohhh... and not exactly related but... not having read the comics before watching this might have been a decent idea. I have too many prefabricated notions when some character comes on the screen... and they keep getting dashed because so many of them are just not the same as they were in the books, or didn't even exist in the books.

So I doubt I can even give any spoilers as to what happens to people at this point. My husband keeps asking me that (he only likes to watch 'scary' movies if they have a happy ending (Talking him into seeing 'Secret Window' in the theater is something I will never live down I think)) and I've just fumbled around and shrugged going... 'I have no idea what happens to that person, they either weren't in the comics or they never acted like that!'

Ohhh... and wow is Merle dumb... there are way more effective ways of getting free of a handcuff than cutting off your entire hand. Just saying...

M.

Wait...what???

I thought Secret Window did have a happy ending... Johnny seemed happy, anyway.

And, yeah... hard to pull spoilers from the comics, now, what with the shifting of certain events, introductions of characters that (to my knowledge, anyway) have yet to appear in the graphic novels, etc... Some things you know they're not going to change too much because it'd take too much away from the story to do so and some characters you know are definitely going to become chow before others but, to take a read through of even the issues I've read and try to predict from that what's going to happen next in the series... pretty much not a doable thing at this point... which I'm loving, actually.

EDIT: Also thought the zombie "gang-beating" was awesome (and Meri's joke about it all the more so) and, on a related note, Daryl's "...it's gotta be the brain! Don't you people know anything..." comment was probably the most overlooked bit of hilarity, thus far...
