Looking for something to do

I had planned on posting some adventure in the Creative section and I am still putting together my thoughts about that course.

In the meantime, I am looking for one of your games to join as they seem quite fun.

I am hoping for what you call a 'Free-form' game but I dont see any of those that seem to be currently running. Is anyone planning on starting one? Something of a medieval nature? I prefer that setting to any other.

I would consider your 'rules-based' games but I know nothing of the rules.

Well let me know if anyone has anything that might be available. Thank you!

rules

Rule based games are somewhat easy to do online as the DM ends up controlling the dice rolling.

I think Almerin was starting a free form game. As well there was some talk of Eol doing a superhero type game as well.

Games

Thank you Sir Alacrity!

I have seen the Ducktown Recruitment thread by Almerin to which I believe you are referring as well as the Superhero game for which Eol has been seeking players, but Disney characters or superheroes are not something I would be comfortable in playing unfortunately. Thank you for responding!

games

The Ducktown thing is off. I didn't get enough players. If you're looking for freeform game that you can just jump into, you can go for Adventures in Celestia. We've just started, and it goes pretty well so far.

Have a character I think will fit in there. Will be jumping in as soon as I get a post typed up. Hope you dont mind.

Still looking

So anyone have a Freeform game they have going or thinking of starting? I am looking for a game to play in. The one I joined stalled before I really got going.

Oh, I would consider one of your Fantasy setting Rules games if someone is willing to help me understand the rules and make a player. Or if you have a game and need someone to play a villian or NPC type for awhile, I am game for that as well. I have a knack for playing the Bad Girl type.

Let me know if you have anything I might play in. Thanks!

SW

I trying to get a Star Wars game going if your intrested. It's not exactly fantasy, but if your intrested just let me know. This would be later, but if the SW game doesn't start I may try to run a D&D game. I don't know if the D&D game would be freeform or not though. Even in rule games, it is a lot more roleplaying than needing rules. The Dm/Gm does most of the rolling and calculating.

Star Wars

Thanks for the offer but Star Wars is not something I would have any idea how to play. I mean I am familiar with Star Wars, I have seen the movies.

I just don’t think it would interest me to play in an unfamiliar setting.

D&D

If you are intrested, I'm going to try and run a D&D. I will post a recruitment in a couple weeks. It is 4th edition, and rule based. I am more than willing to help you with rules if your intrested.

Maybe

Well keep me in mind for when, if, you get ready to start. Depending on the setting, I might be interested but I will need help with the rules as I have no idea how to follow rules. I am use to just using common sense and fairness in posting in my 'freeform' games, but I might be willing to try some 'rules'.

On a related note: If anyone has an opening I might be able to jump into let me know, ok? Thanks!

For the record...

...most of the rules based games (at least hereabouts) aren't really too much different than most freeform games. In most cases, the "rules" typically remain "behind the scenes" for the most part. Your GM will usually do a majority of the dice rolling aside from the bit you might do during character creation and, if done well, is usually more roleplay as opposed to "roll play" where the PCs are concerned.

The biggest difference, at least where the writing of posts as a player is concerned, is that you'll want to remember to say "my character [casts a spell, swings a weapon, whatever action] and tries to [illuminate the dark corridor, hit the orc in the chest, whatever the intended result of the previous action might be]" rather than "my character casts a fireball which explodes at the end of the corridor and engulfs the charging orc." Basically, you write your intended actions and the GM lets you know the results of your attempts based upon that behind the scenes dice rolling. *winks*

I'm considering starting up one or two games, I have a tonne of ideas ready to be used or reused, and I've missed DMing a lot

Well it's been fun!

Can't seem to find anything around here to play in. No Free form adventures seem to be going or even last long; the rules games kind of scare me but even if I willing to try can't seem to find an opening.

Therefore, guess I go find another place to hang. I will check in from time to time. I still like reading a couple of the games: Trilogy and Serenity are my favs thus far.

Take care all! I'll be seeing you!

well

I think the problem with games is that Freeform hasn't been a very active part of the forums. But you could change that, you know? There are plenty of people like yourself, looking for a game to join. Celestia drew lots of folks when it started. I think the point with that game was that the GM disappeared.

So why don't you start one yourself? I think people would love that.

(I might even join myself).
