Star Wars: The Imperial March

The ship shudders as it took a glancing hit from an AA turret. You all were told your first objective. Get to the nearest command post, and then report in to a commander Kenrus. Other than that, you had very little idea of what your mission was.
The planet your ship was landing on was Tapen, home of the vicious Tapeniens. They rebeled against the Empires rule two months eary, exactly two months, two years after the clone wars ended. They looked almost like humans; humans who possesed with pointed teeth and clawed hands. They had successfully beaten the Empire once, and were determined to do it again.
Sellikus Carro, TK ,and Cam were siting in chairs, with restraints holding them in place. Fayt was held into a modified seat, with a very similar device. It was placed lower to allow her to get out of the seat.
A quick glance inside the ship reavealed that there was 2 squads of stormtroopers on board. All but one had their helmets on and were ready to go. The one, however, had his helmet off and his face in his hands. He couldn't have been more than 18 years old, but the Empire assigned him here all the same.
The ship took another lurch as it got nearly hit yet again. " These stupid Sentinel class gunship are junk," an weary voice muttered from one of the Stormtroopers, " we should have stayed with the Larties. But no... we take these peices of..."
"Queit!" The Sergeant yelled extremely loudly." If you have any complaints TC-1247 you should bring it up with the CO."
"As if he'd listen to a clone trooper." TC-1247 mumured quietly in the corner."
"Five minutes to the LZ" The pilot called over the loudspeaker.
"Allright troopers! You all know the objective... draw fire so the spec ops guys can get to their mission!" The sergeant shouted to his soldiers. He turns to the spec ops group, and said overly loudly," So we'll draw their fire so you can do you're mission. Make sure our sacrifice is not in vain." Silence hangs in the gunship as the ship descends.
"3 minutes! Be ready!" The pilots voice crackled over the loudspeaker.
" All right Soldiers! At the ready! Final checks now!" The sergeant commanded from his seat. The stormtroopers hurry for final checks except for TC-1247. He loaded his gun, but doesn't seem to do anything else. The young, unhelmeted trooper checked his gear, but hasn't to put his helmet on.
"Already checked," Tc-1247 mumured arrogantly
"2 minutes!" The restraints on the chairs opened up, allowing for movement. The stormtroopers burst up and prepare to dismount.
" TK-3412! Private Istoran! Bucket on!" The sergeant barks at the young trooper. Private Istoran places his helmet on his head slowly, seemingly not wanting to be on the ship.
"1 minute! Everyone at the ready!" The stormtroopers stand readily near the hatch, anticipating it's opening. The silence is thick, as everyone waits for the hatch to open.
" 5, 4, 3, 2 ,1... go go go!" When the hatch slid open, the stormtroopers exploded outward. Many get gunned down as automatic fire sprays into them. Even the sergeant succumbs to the blast; he falls as a barrage. As soon as anyone leaves the ship, they notice a trench up ahead; the trench could be used as cover against the blaster fire. Other than that, a seemingly desolate grey land with multiple trenches, and craters etched into it's surface was exposed.

Into the Fire

Salvator sits near the back of the ship, eyeing the clones that were to 'help' him. A few seemed less boned up to the task than their commander. And indeed they should be. They were the fodder...
The ship rocked from what Sal could only assume was a large blast striking it. Honestly he wasn't sure. He had seen plenty of battle, but few war zones, And heavy artillery was hardly his area of expertise. It had only been a few years since he had seen anything away from Kiffax, but he had quickly learned that blasters were the dominent weapon in this galaxy. He had also learned that the most money was made from situations that few could survive. That was why he was here. Credits.

He paid little attention to the men and women around him, having already decided most were as good as dead. He simply concentrated on the fight ahead.....

"Queit!" The Sergeant yelled extremely loudly, drawing Salvator from his thoughts.
"If you have any complaints TC-1247 you should bring it up with the CO."
"As if he'd listen to a clone trooper." TC-1247 mumured quietly in the corner."

" 5, 4, 3, 2 ,1... go go go!"

Salvator leaps from the ship along with the troopers, growling as a blaster bolt takes a clone in front of him. Quickly falling into a half-crouch, he moves for the trench, letting off only a couple blasts from his twin
Relby K-23s before rolling for the only cover in sight. Around him, white-armored bodies fell dead, grasping blaster wounds and letting out cries of pain.......

((Ill leave it at that... Not sure if us making the first trench is a givin or not. lol))

Sergeant Cam: What's the mission?

Sergeant Cam's body rocked and swayed almost as one with the movement of the ship. He's been in situations like this before and there was no fear for him. You just need to resign yourself to the moment and trust your brothers, his internal assured him.

As the gunship prepared to make landfall, Cam placed his bucket on his head, allowing his eyes to adjust to visor and the HUD readings. Drawing his rifle, he checked the power level and adjusted the stock.

Turning to his team, the sergeant sighed inwardly. It was one things to entrust your life to your brothers, but he wasn't sure about this ragtag group yet. Were the conditioned well enough? Would they falter in the chaos of the battlefield? It was hard to tell.

"Here's the plan, mates," Cam spoke over the din of noise around them. "We jump out right after the troopers and make for cover, try to stick close and, if we're separated, regroup as quickly as possible. We got a mission to complete. Regardless of whether you're in it for the credits, glory or honour, we aren't getting paid until we complete the mission... so, let's get it done."

The countdown to landfall had begun and the sergeant unbuckled himself and released the restraining bolts on the droid. "Steady! Go! Go! Go!"

Cam jumped out soon after the rest of the troopers, the adrenaline filling his veins quickly with the rush of battle. His eyes did a quick sweep of the landscape and noted the nearby trench. "Make your way there," he pointed out for to the others, as he moved and blasted away at the nearest foe.

[OOC: Cam is looking to do the following three actions - Move towards the trench (move), give orders to the team to make for the trench (swift), and attack the nearest foe with blaster fire (attack w/ rapid shot).]

*whistle*

Fayt had kept mostly to herself during the flight.

Granted, she was a droid. It was generally expected of her to keep to herself. She didn't have an issue with that. She was okay with many things. Well, as long as no one brought up memory wipes. Then she'd be high tailing it out of there before the next cycle. As it was however, no one did, and she was actually excited. This was a very important mission. And she was a droid, but she still got to go. If Fayt had a specific Maker, she'd thank them from the tips of her semiconductors for being able to experience this.

However, the immediate blaster fire that the group and shuttle was exposed to did dampen her circuits a bit, metaphorically. That would be a problem. If they were organic shooters then they probably wouldn't aim specifically at her if she made a move, and that was comforting. But, on the other hand, if it was a motion sensor controlled turret then it'd still shoot at her if she moved. Although, if that was the case, she could try to hack it and prove her worth. As it was though, she'd just have to scout and keep her dome low and find out.

When she got to the doorway, she quickly snapped a shot of the landscape for her memory banks. As it was, the trenches gave the best cover, and so that would be where she was headed. Unless the closest trench was actually a deep ravine, then that could be troublesome.

These would be a lot of thoughts to go through a person's head, but Fayt was not a person, and there were benefits to having a computerized mind.

Panels on either side of her 'legs' slid open, and from them extended miniature propulsion engines. With a few beeps, easily identifiable as a 'make room!', she hit the ignition and took flight. Keeping low to the ground, she hovered over towards the trench. If she can make the movement, it's unoccupied, and it isn't that deep, she'll drop in and land. If it's a full fledged ravine however, she'll give a sharp whistle to warn about it and back track as far as she can go to try to get cover.

Kaminas character

Tk sat quietly as the ship descended. What annoyed him the most was the fact he should have been flying the gunship, not charging into battle. Sure his group seemed like nice enough people, but he was a pilot. Not a soldier.
Tk had been eyeing Fayt for practically the whole ride. He was sure that if he ever did get to fly again, she'd be very helpful. If she wanted to come with him of course.
The main thing that caught Tk's attention was the young stormtrooper. If Tk hadn't been restianed, TK would have went over and conforted the trooper.
Tk listened to the pilot's countdown, once again annoyed that he wasn't flying. He felt another shot hit the ship. More and More, he was sure that he could fly the ship better. TK never said anything though. He knew what he needed to do.
When the hatch opened up, TK was a bit more hesitant to get up. Once everyone else had already left, he followed. Quickly reaching the edge of the trench, he took cover, so he wasn't able to be shot. He turned to the remaining Stormtroopers. "Who's left?" TK asked, "Istoran! TC-1247! Still here?" tK looks up, readying his E-11 for use

(OOC: So after talking with Kamina, I have what he'd do, though this may change when he gets internet back. Basically, he moves to the trench, and squats. he can not fire on an enemy, unless they come right to the edge of the trench. he calls out to the two stormtroopers as a free action; furthermore, he readies his gun to fire if any enemy appears at the edge of the trench [Standard] I hope to have a round summary posted as soon as Chessfayth is ready.)

LInopas Eyste

Linopas stumbled a bit upon landing, fighting to regain his balance. Perhaps he had drank a little more than was advisable before a mission. Still, he'd been through worse on more alcohol.

Or at least he thought. It was all kind of hazy.

Taking a moment to scan the battlefield, he spots the group's droids. Droids? He would have sworn he only heard about one....

As he shakes his head his vision clears for a bit, the two droids merging into one, he trotted/stumbled towards the R2 unit, rifle at the ready.

((He intends to guard the R2 unit, picking off enemies at a distance with the scoped rifle. Should they draw too close, he will draw his blaster pistol to clear them out. If Fayt moves into the trenches, Linopas will follow.))

Summary

The stormtroopers draw the fire for the spec ops team, preventing any fire from hitting them. Fayt immediatly flies from the ship, landing in the trench out of harms way. The rest of. The spec ops team sprints from the ship, quickly taking cover as the blaster fire poured on them. The spec ops team barely made it off the ship, before it took off. Barely getting off the ground, the gunship exploded in a largeexplosion, peppering the ground in debris. The debris is too fine to hurt anyone though, and no one seems to take notice.

"Who's there?" TK shouts," Istoran! CT 1247 still there?"

"Yes," a quiet reply comes.
"Can't keep a real soldier down sir!" Another one replies arrogantly.

Tk rreacts immediatly when a b1 battle droid, the most common droid of the clone wars, steps to the edge to the trench. Unlike most b1s, this one was a bit bulkier, dark grey, and carried a modified e-5 blaster. TK fires upon it, but is suprised when the shot glanced off. In fact, the droid curses fluently in Huttese. It takes shots from Sellikus, Sergeant Cam, Linopas, and a stormtrooper to drop the droid. That B1 was a definate improvement over normal ones.

now that everyone was out of the ship, the planets natural terrain was more in view. mush. of the surrounding area was grey; however, the area to the east was dark blueish, and the west was dark reddish. The night sky made the colours seem to glow

Sergeant cam and TK both receive a transmition to there HUDs at the same time. It was the direction to the command post; the command post was about five kilometers to the east. Linopas and Sellikus received. The transmition a moment later on their comlink.

The trench ran east to west, and would easily allow someone to avoid blaster fire. The spec ops team had already seen multiple tranches both in front and behind the one they were in, all paralell to the one they're in. The trenches end before the blueish area.

Much of the blaster fire on the trench began to go upwrads as thousands more imperial gunships arrived. One landed right where the one that brought the troopers here arrived. One crashed just in front of the trench, leaving shrapnel strewn everywhere. From the trench, it was impossible to see if there was any survivors.

Let's get moving!

Cam hit the trench and waited for the others the gather. The appearance of a battle droid surprised him slightly, it had been awhile since he had last seen one in actual combat. Someone's made some improvements, he noted internally as the droid took a bunch of blaster fire prior to actually falling. Wish I had remembered a few more poppers.
Cam's HUD lit up with the coordinates for the command post. "F-8, see if you can access a terrain map of our location."

Turning to his team, Cam gave the quick commands he had become known for. "Let's move, team. Five clicks to go. TK, you got rear guard. Sellikus, you're on point."

Run and Gun

Sellikus offered only the slightest of nods before his feet were moving him down the trench, ducked into a slight crouch, and both pistols raised. He didn't bother wasting his ammo by firing into the enemy's ranks unless they were already in his path, or within sight of the edge of the trench.

He still understood little of the mission's objective, and this bothered him. The Imps seemed to rely heavily on a 'need to know' basis, and as of yet, it seemed he didn't need to know.

Blaster fire peppered the landscape, brightened only by the random explosion. It seemed that, at this point, their lives really depended on luck over skill.... And this bothered Sellikus more than anything....

Better check my databanks...

Fayt acknowledges the instruction with a few beeps of confirmation. Direct translation would yield "memory access - map constructing". She first checks her databanks to check if a map was uploaded earlier, and if not, attempts to convert the image she snapshot earlier as they left the ship into a three dimensional hologram for them to quickly purview via her holoprojector.

Assuming they start moving before she can finish the compilation, however, Fayt will closely move with them, using her propulsion to keep up as needed while continually looking around and taking more pictures to aid in the 3 dimensional map construction running in the background.

Kamina's character #2

"Let's move team. Five clicks to go. Tk you guard rear. Sellikus, you're on point," Cam ordered.

"Yes sir," Tk said in response, " But just to let you know, I'm much better at ship combat, than infantry work." TK Kept watch at the back. He cerainly did not want to be the weak link. Even though he really wanted to be in the pilot seat again, he knew that by assisting his group, there was a higher chance he could. As the group began to walk, Tk thought it might be best to strike up a conversation. "Soooo," Tk asked," Where's everyone here from?"

(OOC, ok here's Kamina's character. I'm going to try nd have an update up tonight. No one has a map yet, but you'll get one at the command center.)

Marching

As the spec ops team moved towards their objective, the battle seemed to be quieting. It was either that the battle was dying down, or that it was moving west. The team made fairly good pace, though they kept quiet. The glowing blue began to become larger, and it was soon apparent that it was a forest. It was hard to tell if the glowing was bioluminesant, or lights. The ground istelf still seemed to be a grey, but that too seemed to becoming lighter. At one point the sandy ground was moist, making walking hazardous. Fortunately, no enemies attacked then, and the spec ops team was soon away from there.

About half an hour late, and with two kilometers left, Sellikus and Linopas' comlinks began to buzz. It was informing them that they were picking up some sort of transmission. The buzzing wasn't loud enough to give away their position, but it would get annoying quickly. The buzzing could easily be disabled, or they could check their comlinks.

(OOC Ok so here is the new post. Apologise for the delay, but I had a rather busy few days. If you have any conversation on the walk, feel free to post it.)

Linopas Eyste

It took a moment for Linopas to register the buzzing as coming from his comlink. He shook his head again, his head finally starting to clear up.

Less than subtly, Linopas moves slightly away from the group, lowering the volume to check the call privately.

((So.. yeah. Gonna check that. While aware that he's not being subtle, he has no reason yet to care about the group's opinions yet. He sees it as none of their business.))

NmB - not my business

Mud. Mud was annoying. Still better than being shot at. How much better? Well that was some arbitrary function g that at the moment Fayt didn't really think was a good idea to calculate. Instead she just focused on 'jumping' via her thrusters from firm ground to firm ground so she wouldn't get stuck in the mud and slow the group down.

Stupid buzzer

Sellikus remained silent throughout the march, feeling that as some (Or all) of them would be dead before the mission was over, that there was little point in getting friendly. He just continued on at the head of the group, setting a quick pace.

When the buzzing started, he was a trigger squeeze away from putting three blaster holes into the trench wall before realizing it was the comm link he had been issued.
Without so much as slowing his pace, he opened the comm channel....

(If the group is stopping, someone may want to shout, cuz Sellikus ain't stopping. He figures they are following still, and doesn't care enough to look back unless given an order from his commander.)
