Kyle

A very nice introduction and audition for the game.

Right now I dont think I can take on another player, but consider yourself as the 1st alternate.

If a spot opens up I will contact you Kyle.

Character submitted

barring some fill in the blanks for the technical stuff

My character is submitted. I'll be writing up a description / history of 'what's known as common knowledge' in the next little while for the group.

A head's up

Actually the largest blade a thief can use and still gain the back stab bonus is a shortsword. There are some shortswords that get that like the one below from the Encyclopedia Magica

+2 Short Sword of Backstabbing (doubles all damage from backstab)

So yes he could use it that way

.Rumor-hear-say-general reputation of my character

The Crimson Rose/ The Lady Whisper / The Scarlet Hound..

^^ These are all monikers whispered between diplomats and nobility, boasted about in the underbelly of taverns, and muttered in loathing among those ever placed on the receiving end of a contract taken by the reputed bounty hunter. A woman with a specialized skill set, she makes her living, and her reputation on the successful acquisition or retrieval of information or goods of value. Whether those goods have a heartbeat or not is of little consequence to the self made entrepreneur.

There's a tool for every job, and given the right price or a piqued interest, the bounty hunter is at home with delving where most would not; or where the law cannot.

A growing master at her craft, very few know the true identity of the woman of a thousand veils, for her infamy lies in the word of the people, in the idealism she represents, that there is justice and equality for all, not simply those with lined pockets. To some she is a folk hero akin to robin hood, to others, an assassin for the highest bidder. to other's still she, is not a she at all, for the idea that is retribution or justice cannot be contained properly by a single context.

Subtlety, seduction, and stealth are her allies, and she feels just as comfortable enshrouded in the blackness of shadow and night as she does in the bed of a would be suitor or suitors.

It has always amazed me how loose a target's lips become when the rest of their body is distracted
This is a stark contrast to the truth that if a job requires her to get her manicured hands dirty, then she is not above the call. It is rumored she was trained in the underbelly of Bayris by an ex Warden of the Gate turned guild master, and that her reputation and business ventures have brought her as far west as Ertain. Other's believe she is the rebellious offspring of a noble house or faction, and that her aliases and masquerades are to protect a family back home. Whatever the truth of her upbringing, she is fiercely professional, and loyal to her contracts, if and when she accepts one.

~*~*~*~*~ What the Group knows~*~*~*~*~
Likely having crossed paths many moons prior while tailing a bounty or person of similar interest, it was the varied breadth of culture reasoning and skill sets amongst the group that initially motivated Rose (as the group knows her by) to extend her travels with them. Rose stands with an average height and weight, though her body is lithe and toned, subtle curves and flawless skin accentuate her natural beauty as well as compliment her ample assets typically nestled within the confines of a scarlet corset. Her shoulders are caressed by raven lengths of hair when let down, though she typically keeps it neatly tucked away within the recesses of her hood. She wears a silken jacket of the finest quality, black with crimson stitching all contained under a leathery cloak and cowl, from beneath which emerald eyes gleam.

Rose is known for her professionalism whenever on a job, her skills as a tracker and hunter are not without merit, as well as the general knowledge that she is trained in the arts of infiltration and bypassing defenses. (I'm sure she's picked a few locks and disabled a few traps over the time together) However when on the road or in between jobs if she's around the group (She does have a tendency to disappear sometimes for days and weeks at a time between adventures) she is a flirt and generally quite inquisitive. She particularly likes to make innuendo towards the priest, purely because she knows dogma and inability or not to act upon it, he's still a male and she likes to make a little steam under that clergy collar of his.

It should be noted that Rose speaks a multitude of languages, and is often caught mixing in elvish with her common tongue. Her Accent as well is not quite right, for her speech seems to favor the connotations of the sylvani dialect which gives her an almost exotic feel.

I suppose it's probable that the party would notice that Rose doesnt seem to really carry weapons on her person often, but always seems to have something at the ready when needed.
For Every Rose has it's thorns....

(well I think that should cover up about 9 levels of thiefiness without giving away too much.)

.

Alana drew her cloak tight as the cold rain seemed to find every little gap between it and her neck. Holding tightly to her staff she leaned on it for support as the cold sapped the littel strength her lame leg had left after a long day. Once more holdign out her cup she sought a copper froma passing merchant. "Begon you street whore" he snarled as he turned up his nose at her. "May the gods bless your generousity" she called after him while making mental note of his face. Next time he might be in a more generous mood, especially with a bit of a suggestion planted in his mind. "might as well get inside before I catch cold" she thought. She made her way slowly back to the inn but made on stop before arriving at her ultimate destination. As usual, she found the person she sought on a corner near the wharf. There in a spot even other beggers avoided, a woman and her daughter huddled together for warmth. There were precious few copper coins in her begging cup. Too few in fact to even purchase food for them both. Taking the coins from her own cup as well as a few from her own purse, Alana handed them to the young girl. Although covered in dirt and shivering from teh cold, the child smiled and ran back to her mother with her newfound treasure.

After a hot meal. Alana took her usual place by the fire. It was not long before the tavern was filled with both regulars and the travelers needing a place for the night. Conversations filled the room and Alana took in as many as she could. Her pleasent night was interepted as a man in fancy chainmail shoved her aside. "Make way wench. I need to warm myself after a day of travel. I cannot believe they let such as you in this fine place." Alana sighed, as usual her appearance made her the target of others scorn. Standing barely more than 5 ft tall and even less whn she leaned heavily upon her staff as she did now she was not a very imposing figure. Her slight frame and crippled leg gave no clue that she was anything other than a street urchin. Only those who spent time with her realized that her mind was much sharper than one would expect. During the course of an evening she held conversations in several languages and on a level well above that of a begger. As teh fire burned into embers she made her way to her room. Once inside she pulled out a few items and cast a warding spell upon her door. Alone in her room, she spent the next few hours studying her tomes before turning in for the night.

Thank you

Kyle bows once more, 'I thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. I am truly honored to be the first in reserves. If I am not called upon please let those who do travel on this road know that all their affairs will be watched over and kept well until their return.'

Kyle once more moves to the table and fills his tankard and lifts it high, 'To those who travel the roads of tomorrow we drink to you today!' With that he down his tankard.

He then bows to the Teller of Aryn, takes a few steps backwards and then turns and heads for the door and as he does he calls out, 'DOG COME, we have the homes of heroes to watch over.' With that call, movement came from the shadows. A black lab of about 85 pounds. His coat was as black as night and the sheen of silk. His muzzle was graying with age. A beautiful animal except for one missing eye.

backstab

My ruling for MY adventures is that shortswords can not be used for the 'backstab' which grants you the backstab bonus of thieves, except in the case of special magical weapons, such as the Shortsword of Backstab. This weapon is specially enchanted and will allow this special bonus where normal shortswords will not. That is my ruling!

Ody

Very nice Ody, right now I am filled up and I can put you down as 2nd alternate if an opening comes up, Kyle beat you to the alternate list.

Also, if you had been allowed in, that character would not have been posted for all to see. I prefer characters to remain private between DM and player.
