Healing time!

Gyro sighed as he opened up the medical kit. He was glad to have it because it was much better than just having a plain medpac. Gyro stated to anyone nearby," Okay, I am going to try and stabilize him. If he begins to thrash, I need you to stun him." Gyro paused, as he set up the medical equipment he was about to use around the operating table. "I am trained, but I am not the finest doctor, so no promises..." Gyro grimaced; he hated having to preform field aid. He always had the feeling that he would mess up. Glancing around the room one more time, he murmured," All right, let's begin"...

Let's see them coms

As Riggs asked his question, he could overhear an answer to Gyro's question. The responding clone had fallen to the floor with his head in his hands... perhaps this what war really did to you. A frightening image passed through Riggs' mind as he imagined himself in that very position; stunned, shaken, and horrified by what he had seen. It took the voice of another clone to bring him back to reality:

"I can come with you. I won't be much help, but I don't think we should do things alone." The clone had only a blaster pistol and was visually shaken, but his offer to help was eagerly accepted nonetheless.

"All right then- excellent. We'll go to security across the way; I'd like you to cover me as I work." With this other clone at his side, Riggs hurried into the security room adjacent to the commotion, tool kit in hand and blaster pistol at his belt. He sat down in front of one of the consoles and began a basic maintenance overview.

((OOC: If the coms are working, Riggs will issue a response which I will dictate in the next round; if not, then he will initiate the necessary repair.))

Things are happening

Batter watched kept his gun level with the door to the medbay as Gyro attempted to stabilize the injured clone. Looking over, he watched as Gyro started pulling out different medical tools and tended to the Clone's wounds. Within minutes the wound was covered up and bandaged. [17 rolled on Treat Injury, skill check successful]

---------------------------------------------------

Rigg's and the one of the uninjured clones carefully tread into the security room. Once they had insured it was empty they walked up to the main console. The clone took up watching the door as Rigg's dropped to the floor and started taking off the panelling hiding the hardware he needed to get too. Once the hardware was revealed he went to work attempting to diagnose the problem. [25 rolled on Mechanics, Skill check successful. Rigg's can tell that an EMP blast was the cause of the disruption, but something else seems to be stemming the flow of power to the area.]

----------------------------------------------------

Back in the hallway, the noises behind the blast door had stopped. The panicked clone on the floor looked up to Hodges. "S-s-ssir, are we going to make it out of this?" Looking down towards the clone, Hodges could see the fear in his comrades eyes.

Success?!

Gyro began his work with the medpac on the injured trooper. He knew he did not have that much time, as the fallen trooper was bleeding out. Leaving his helmet on, trying to mask the anxiety that had spread across his face, Gyro worked with trained hands. He had been trained for this, there was no reason to fail.

It took several minutes of work, but Gyro succeeded. He had to admit, he was fairly pleased with himself; the fallen trooper would live! Pleased, Gyro called to Batter, "Done! Did I beat the record?" With his rhetorical question, he hoped to make a dismal situation a little brighter.

Grrr

Hodges looked down at the fearful trooper, biting back his initial insulting reply. The man was scared, he understood. He needed to be patient. But this was a war zone now.
"Stop your sniveling, Trooper! We trained for this. You trained for this. And No, we wont make it out alive, unless you buck up and be ready to blast some gear-heads!" He growled at the clone, his venomous tone helping to back his own fear from his mind.
"The facts are these: We are under attack, heavily outnumbered, and un-able to contact back up. In all likelyhood, we are not long for this galaxy. But I'll be damned if I am gonna lie down and take it like a child! So check your ammo, and do what you were trained to do."

With that, Hodges looks back to the door, wondering how long it would be before it was blown apart, and the real fight began. In all honesty, he was of the same mind as the sniveling trooper. He didn't want to die. Not here, on some remote outpost. But this was happening, and there was nothing to change that now.
"We all have to die sometime..." He muttered, not even realizing he had spoken it aloud....

There's something strange going on here.

As Riggs got to work on the mechanical network of wires, processors, connections, and transistors that was the main long-coms console, he could feel his own mental hardware firing to life. Everything came naturally, and it felt good to be back where he was most useful. He was comforted by the fact that all the stillness, the waiting, the boredom had not nulled him.
As he worked, he discovered the problem; just an EMP, he thought to himself with a smirk. He'd been trained, drilled in EMP diagnostics and repair ever since he was a... wait.

"What on Earth..." he muttered in bewilderment. This wasn't just the work of any old EMP. There was definitely something else going on here- something was interfering with the power flow to the consoles, as if deliberately trying to cut them off. He couldn't quite tell without further analysis, but it was very likely that it was set up deliberately by someone... or something. Caught up in his excitement and shock, Riggs was tempted to tell the other clone about it, or analyze it outright, but he very well knew of the greater importance at stake here... and his original motive for coming here. The power anomaly would have to wait for now, while the coms were working. In a practised move, he punched in the correct long-range coordinates and, upon the ready, cried into the receiver:

"This is Outpost # 8394, located on the Uden Fen asteroid in the Outer Rim territories, and we are under attack by an unknown assailant! We have casualties. I repeat, we have casualties- request backup immediately!" Tense seconds passed as he paused, allowing the message to sit, then repeated. "This is Outpost # 8394, located on the Uden Fen asteroid in the Outer Rim..."

Acting Fast

"Done! Did I beat the record?" Batter glanced over to Gyro before looking down at the clone on the Medical table. "I'd say. I'll stay here and watch him, why don't you go check on Riggs and Hodges? Just radio in if you need me Gyro." Looking back to the doorway, Batter couldn't help but smirk under his helmet, at least Gyro's sense of humor was still intact.

-------------------------------------------------------
"This is Outpost # 8394, located on the Uden Fen asteroid in the Outer Rim territories, and we are under attack by an unknown assailant! We have casualties. I repeat, we have casualties- request backup immediately!"
Riggs and the clone sat in silence as the static blared from the comm station. For several tense minutes they waited before a broken voice could be heard. ".... is CT 8364.... Omega and Caboose..... situation? .... Repeat....." As quick as it came to life, the voice ceased to be. The clone jumped up and ran over to the comm station, slamming his fist on the surface he yelled WE HAVE TO FIX THIS, SOMEONE IS OUT THERE!" The clone immediately drops to the ground and starts grabbing at tools and digging around inside the console.

-----------------------------------------------------
"We all have to die sometime..." With those uttered words the clone sitting down slowly stood back up and stared right into Hodges visor. "We don't, we don't have to die. We can fight right? Yeah, yeah we can fight..." Picking his helmet up off the ground, the clone loaded his Blaster Rifle and stood at attention. "Slade reporting for duty sir. Let's give these rust-buckets something to talk about when they leave here."

hmm

Hodges smiles under his helmet as the whining trooper stands, loading his weapon and seeming to grow a pair. Ya, they could fight. They would fight. But Hodges held no hope of victory. Only the determination that when they finally did fall, there would be alot less clankers in the galaxy.
Simply nodding to the trooper next to him, he looks back to the blast door. He didn't even truly know if they were still out there, but he wasn't about to drop his guard.
He had been trained in unarmed combat, but with Droids not feeling pain, it did him little good. Still, he supposed he had sufficient training with his rifle, and if it came to it, he would break a few gears off.
He glanced side-long at the trooper next to him. The fearful ally would likely die when the fight started. But then, odds were, so would the rest of them...
"Riggs! Gyro! Whoever! How's that comm coming!?" Hodges yells over his shoulder. If backup was en route, this would be alot simpler....

Searching...

Gyro smirked, and began to leave the medbay. Calling over he shoulder to Batter as he left, he called, "So I didn't win then?"

Leaving the room, with his pistol drawn, Gyro went to search for the others. "Riggs! Gyro! Whoever! How's that comm coming!?" Hodges yells over his shoulder. If backup was en route, this would be alot simpler...
"I'm not on the comms." Gyro replied. Hodges and another trooper seemed to be getting ready for the droids to enter. Gyro was afraid, but he wasn't going to show that.

He came around the corner to Riggs. Furiously, Riggs was working on the console. "How's it coming? Can I help?" Gyro knew that Riggs knew that Gyro could help with this.

Gyro wished they could leave. His armour could only protect him for 20 minutes in hard vacuum, and there was no way that they could leave without a ship.

GEEaagh! Stahp talking to me!

As he waited tensely for a response, the sound of blaster fire outside the door was the only thing penetrating the silence of waiting as Riggs' breath was caught in his throat. Eventually, after what seemed like minutes of inactivity, a crackling voice came over the com and out of the receiver: ".... is CT 8364.... Omega and Caboose..... situation? .... Repeat....." ...and the message was dead.

"WE HAVE TO FIX THIS, SOMEONE IS OUT THERE!" Cried the clone at the door, slamming his hand against the console. Riggs nearly jumped out of his suit with a yelp- certainly, he wasn't expecting that. He regained his composure momentarily afterwards, noticing the clone digging around in the circuitry beneath him.

"You kriffing buckethead, of course we're going to fix this! Now slow the heck down, get your hands out of the hardware and listen to what I've found. It's useless to begin a task when you don't know everything about it." With that, he arrested the other's work with a clap on his shoulders, and told him about the strange power anomaly he'd found.

When he was almost finished, the voice of Hodges outside could be heard calling his name. "Riggs! Gyro! Whoever..." He drew a breath, awaiting a distress call... "...How's that comm coming!?"

Riggs was growing impatient with the chaos of it all. "WE'RE GETTING ON IT! I'VE ALREADY SENT OUT A DISTRESS CALL!!" He screamed, startling the clone beside him. "Rrrgh. Sorry, buddy- to sum it all up..." and with that, he finished what he was trying to say. Finally, it was time to work. With the other clone raring to go, he pulled apart some wires and cables, handed the other some tools, and began to work.

And as he worked, one more voice called from outside: "How's it coming? Can I help?" It was Gyro, who had caught Riggs at a bad time.
He hesitated momentarily, for too many cooks could spoil the broth; however, Gyro was very good with computers, whereas Riggs was a mechanic who specialized in vehicles and machines rather than computerized technology. It was something he had been trying to teach himself on the side for many years, but he didn't quite feel comfortable utilizing the skill quite yet.

Eventually, he confirmed Gyro's help- it might come in handy- and shouted out to him in frustration, "Hah?! Yes, sure, fine! Don't stand there- start testing the computer for us, and tell us what you see- AND DO IT NOOOOWWWW!!"

Comm Stations

The Comm Room had become a flurry of activity within seconds after the message had died. Riggs and his helper were busy sifting through wires and circuit boards fixing whatever problem they could. Meanwhile Gyro was busy sifting through his computer diagnostics, attempting to get the console up and running again. For a solid 5 minutes they worked before the Comm Station lit up and rebooted. Repeat, this is Lieutenants Omega and Caboose. Repeat, this is Lieutenants Omega and Caboose. Come in Troopers, we received your distress signal. What's going on down there?"
[22 rolled on Use Computer check by Gyro, 21 rolled on Mechanics by Riggs. Skill check passed]

----------------------------------------------------------

Hodges and Slade stood outside the blast doors waiting for something, anything to happen. For what felt like hours they stood until they heard faint voices coming from the Comm Station. Looking over to Hodges Slade spoke, "Think they got that Comm working?"

"You don't need to be so mean about it," Gyro complained, feeling hurt. He didn't like being yelled at...

That didn't stop Gyro from working on the computer. He considered himself fairly versed, even if it wasn't his favorite thing. He much preferred spacecraft to ordinary computers. Spacecraft that saw action, not just sat in the middle of space doing nothing.

The Comm Room had become a flurry of activity within seconds after the message had died. Riggs and his helper were busy sifting through wires and circuit boards fixing whatever problem they could. Gyro knew most of what the other two troopers were doing. He was fairly good at mechanics. For five, long and painful, minutes, Gyro worked. He had to put aside the imminent doom of arriving droids. That's when he heard it: voices. Lieutenants Caboose and Omega. Gyro leapt to the comlink: "We're under attack! Droids are incoming! We are outgunned, and being overrun! We need reinforcements!"

heh

Hodges didn't bother looking at Slate as he shrugged, listening. "Who's to say? Discipline has fallen in our time here, and I wouldn't be surprised if they are all simply yelling at each other in there." He chuckles, checking his rifle's scope for the third time in the past few minutes.
"Likely due to lack of a real commanding officer." He adds, quiet enough that only Slate can hear.
Clearing his throat, he says louder, "Best you don't even worry about the Comms. Me and you, our jobs are the same either way. Kill anything that comes through that door to give the others as much time as possible. Until that changes, just keep your eyes ahead and your finger on your trigger."

Hrrmmeh hrrmph

For a second or two, there was silence in the room- or at least what could be called a silence, as the console was alive with the sound electrical wiring and equipment being fumbled with and manipulated, the clanking of tools against metal, and the occasional jolt here and there.

"You don't need to be so mean about it," Gyro complained. Riggs was under pressure, and right now he had his hands full, but that still didn't allow him- and much less require him- to lose his head at a time like this.

"Look, Gyro, I'm sorry, man- but this is just crazy, and I'm under a lot of pressure- and heck, what if those guys can save us out there... all in all, I'm sorry. Really. Now let's get this thing done and we can take a load off." It felt better to apologize, but Gyro was already at the console, working on the computer as he finished. Riggs picked up where he'd left off, too; his head was a little clearer after having let off some steam in his outburst. In no time, he was back at it with the others.

Five minutes passed, a five minutes that seemed only like five seconds- it was amazing how the time could slip by in desparation- when the message suddenly came clear:

"Repeat, this is Lieutenants Omega and Caboose. Repeat, this is Lieutenants Omega and Caboose. Come in Troopers, we received your distress signal. What's going on down there?"

"Wha- it worked! It worked! Gyro, get the-"

But before he could finish, Gyro was already at the comlink, shouting hurriedly, "We're under attack! Droids are incoming! We are outgunned, and being overrun! We need reinforcements!"
Perhaps it would be okay for now, and he could regroup with Hodges and the others, but it felt better to him to wait for a response.

Slight chance of flurries

The comms were silent after Gyro spoke. The clones stood around the console wondering if they had cut again before a gruff voice could be heard. "This is Lieutenant Omega, CT 0084 4573. Do you know who is attacking troopers? What's the size of the enemy force, how many clones are still fit for combat? We need to know troopers!"
-------------------------------------------------------
Hodges and Slade continued to eye the door, the silence slowly becoming more and more prominent. They could hear voices down the hall coming from the Comm Room. As they eyed the door, both clones suddenly tensed up. They could hear something, and it wasn't voices. Looking up to the roof, they could hear the faint clanking of droids. [16 rolled on perception for Slade and Hodges. Skill check passed]

Slade looks over to Hodges and back up to the roof before reaching for his commlink. "Guys, we have a problem.... The droids are on the roof now, be ready for anything."
