Subject: Almost Two Years Later!!!!

Bringing his horse to a halt, Erihsehc only just got the beast under control preventing what would have been an embarrassing incident. Trying to act calmly he brought his horse around to Sen's.

"Lia Nailo...not as easy on the tongue as Sen however if it is what you prefer my mysterious friend then so be it."

This time he gave the reigns of his horse a slight nudge and with the sun's warm heat slowly replacing the early morning freshness he moved away slowly.

"So Sen....I mean Lia Nailo, as we have a fair journey to travel I would enjoy...I mean I would be honored if you would enlighten me more about yourself."

He gave Sen a playful smile "I dare say you must have many a tale to tell?"

Subject: Red Star Tolly

“What do you mean you do not know where it is” With a worried look on his face, Tolly sighs.

“I know Blagh will be furious when he finds out I have not got it but I know you took it and I swear if I go down I will take you with me.”

“What do you mean you know longer have the Red Star, you took it, stole it in fact and now you say you do not have it. Where is it?”

“Talakan, you sold it to Talakan. Shoot me know why don’t you. Let Morodon have mercy on my soul. Well you better get it back.” Tolly was getting more worried.

“What do you mean I’ve got to get it? Talakan knows its mine and knows I’m the only one who can use it; I do not understand why he would want it.”

“He wants me to get it, why?”

“Quest, I do not do quests who does he think I am some brain dead whore humping lets slay anything in sight barbarian. No I am not cut out for quests.”

“What do you mean I’ve only seven days to retrieve it?”

“No, that is not possible?” Tolly was now fearful of a full blown anxiety attack

“The Birthday Massacre, yeah I know it. But why would I get help there, who in there right mind who go on a quest with me.”

“Gee thanks for your support” Trying to deep breath he looks back,

“Ok you can stop laughing now, thank you!” And with that Tolly made his way to the alley towards Birthday Massacre Inn.

Well I guess your wanting to know what going on and I suppose a little information not going to harm at this stage. You see our friend here Tolly is a bit of a loner and does not really or have much of a life. He has few friends well his only friend is a Red Star. What it is or does is not of importance just yet but what you need to know is that in seven days if Tolly does not retrieve his friend then it is the end of him, no more Tolly. Oh I know; why should anyone really care, why do you get up in the morning, should I choose the red pill or the blue pill it is all irrelevant really. How Tolly lost the Red Star I hear you ask? Well you can ask him yourself. Oh, here we go look he is standing outside the inn now. Until next time.

Tolly stood took a deep breath and entered the inn. Standing out like a fish out of water he swiftly made his way to the bar. He was not an inn sort of person; his only previous experience was his rights to manhood drink with his father. It was not a pleasant event. He asked the barman where he could find a few volunteers for a seven day quest. The barman grunted, laughed, scratched his beard, laughed some more before finally grunting in the direction of a darkened corner table where several sad pathetic looking individuals sat. I suppose he was glad the barman did not announce his quest to the whole inn but he also knew by time he left the whole inn would know of his business and join the barman in mocking his request.

Walking over to the table he coughed politely to draw attention before speaking.

“Worthy adventurers, I am seeking some companions to go on a quest. It will not take more than seven days and I can assure a handsome return for your effort?” The return he thought, better make it worthy. As long as they do not ask for anything upfront he could ensure a substantial reward.

“Well what do you think?” Tolly stood trying to hide his nervousness as he became increasing aware of other in the inn taking an interest in him. He could only hope one or two of those he pleaded too would at least acknowledge him.

"I take it the Sylph took the gemstone, what of her reaction?" The question aimed at Arturo who stood in the room came from a hooded and frail man who was sitting on a beautifully crafted wooded chair by an open fire. A small white cat nestled on his lap purring peacefully from the warmth of the fire and the attention from its owner. Zenb was also present in an adjacent chair to that of the elderly alchemist.

"She knew of the gem knowing that we had tried to cut the gem unsuccessfully. I was unable to gain much of a reaction; she was as expected not forthcoming of any information from that we already knew. Still she has the gem and that is what matters for the time being."

"I guess your right." The old man gazed into the fire gently stroking his cat. "We must ensure the Sylph does not fail gentlemen, even it means the end of our world."

The words struck accord to both Arturo and Zenb as they knew all too well what lay ahead.

___________________________________________________________

Erihsehc woke early ready for the day ahead. Having studied the map supplied by Lennier, the northern forest of Nordathain was a two day trek. The journey to the forest should not pose much of a threat. However the forest itself harboured a goblin clan that used it to direct raids on human and dwarven settlements either side of the border. Still he felt confident. The only person present to see Erihsehc and Sen off was Bernartro who supplied both a hearty morning meal and food ratios fit for royalty. They would eat well on the journey at least.

"Now Erihsehc, you take good care of this beautiful maiden. We shall get word to you as long as you use the inns of the towns mentioned on the map." Bernartro gave Erihsehc a bear hug before turning to Sen.

With a Cheshire cat smile he spoke "Now Sen, take care of this ugly brute for us. Sadly Siel has not shown but I shall arrange for him to meet you at one of the inns on the map. I will see you both soon, Godspeed."

With that Bernartro left the travelling pair.

"So Sen," Erihsehc spoke with a new found air of confidence "Are you ready for the task ahead. It seems the weather is going to be kind today so we should make good progress. It was good of Zenb to provide horses for us, I guess mine was getting on a bit, one for retirement I think. Now let’s see how good you are?" With that Erihsehc rode off at pace unsure if Sen even knew how to ride.

Bernartro was good to his word as the ale was indeed purer and more refreshing that the cat’s piss you would otherwise get in the inns. Indeed he explained how Zenb produced his own ale using ingredients grown on his land and considered his ale and wine to be some of the finest in the region.

Bernartro then went on to explain more about his brothers. Lexor was the eldest and was a priest in the church of Lathander. All the brothers had few dealings with Lexor other then sending donations as and when possible. Bernartro was the second eldest followed by Belnox who he had already met. With Lexor going into the priesthood, it was supposed to be Bernartro who took over the family store but when it was soon realised he did not have a business head on his shoulders Belnox the more practical one of the brothers took up the reigns. Belnox though changed the name of the store as he never really liked the family name. Then came Maxcillius who was just a year older than Arturo. Maxcillius had been a Captain in the Priest of Talos army until the family fell out of favour. Out of all the brothers he was the one who could fight and lead. It is said when he travelled east to find a new life away from the region, some thirty of his soldiers went with him and ever since they have been marked as traitors and warned not to travel back to the region or face the death penalty. Only Lexor has had any sort of contact from his brothers in the last few years yet Bernartro believes Arturo knows more than he is letting onto. Still the last of the brothers, the youngest was safe, in prison that is. Qartine had been caught as a thief and not even Arturo could help him. Still using his contacts he was able to ensure he did not receive a too harsh a punishment and he did not have much longer to serve.

Erihsehc had relaxed considerably since his news earlier in the day. The rest of the evening was spent listening to tales of the Von Vliess brothers and later after the ale had flowed freely he was entertained with songs from Lennier. The halfling had an exceptional voice his dulcet tones seemingly mellowing the air around them.

It was getting late and before retiring Erihsehc went to find Sen. He made his way outside passing Arturo’s panther Lebreknit which did not even flinch as it just lay casually in the yard. Arturo was nowhere to be seen and looking up he searched for any sign of his newfound friend. He wanted to tell her what he had been told; he wanted to tell her how he felt about her. Whether it was the drink that lessened his inhibitions it was the chill of the night air that brought him back to reality. He looked down embarrassed by his own thoughts. He turned and the panther this time head raised was staring right at him with a sympathetic look if a panther could express such a face. Still it made him smile and with one last look around made his way back to his room.

Subject: The One and Only Bernartro von Vliess

Having Sen at his side on the trip gave Erihsehc cause for optimism. He now saw her not only as a friend but a good luck charm. Despite all her troubles she had probably encountered she always seemed bright and light-hearted. He had no idea how old she was and although she appeared youthful part of him considered that she was older and wiser that he was which in itself was a form of comfort.

He had left Sen to attend to whatever needs to she to carry out or rest if needed before the early start in the morning. He himself made his way to the kitchen. A good meal was vital before the journey and as he approached he could hear talking.

“I have arranged for Siel to come with any spells that can aid Sen. I will also let her take a pick of the gems we already possess but I am concerned that the others will pick up her trail so I want to try and delay this as long a possible.”

As Erihsehc entered the conversation stopped and sat at the table was Zenb, Arturo and a halfling that from his visions was the one he had been seeking, that of Lennier Underhill.

”Ah, Erihsehc please come, sit and eat. From your expression I gather you recognise Lennier. My home is yours and a hearty meal will benefit you.” Zenb spoke kindly; Lennier greeted him with a shy but friendly smile. “Arturo has just spoke of some assistance for your journey. We know of a magic user who might have a spell that can help Sen stay hidden from her pursuers. With godspeed he will be hear before you leave. Until then eat, rest, as your journey will be long and fraught with danger. ”

Erihsehc sat down and in the middle of the table was a large pot of stew and using the ladle he served himself a generous amount. It was strange seeing Lennier for the first time. In his visions Lennier was the one he needed to contact, someone he had met before but the truth was he had never met the halfling in person.

”Ahh...I see you are tasting some of my famous and delicious hog stew. Tasty no?”

Erihsehc looked up and stood there larger than life was the figure that could only be Bernartro von Vliess. He was unlike anyone he had ever met. His colourful plump figure was mirrored with a face explosive of jollity. Erihsehc could not help but smile and acknowledge what was indeed a fine stew.

”Ha! You see Arturo our friend has fine taste. Erihsehc, I take it you do not mind being called that?” Erihsehc nodded, true it was not his real name, but then his real name did not reflect the person he now was. Bernartro continued “I am Bernartro and as you can clearly see my brother is the oh so serious one of the family whereas I am the life and soul and despite his seriousness he does not take me seriously at all. I love my brother but I wished he would lighten up even our brother Lexor has more fun and he is of the priesthood.” Bernartro laughed and it was infectious setting of everyone other than Arturo who was very much straight faced.

“Hmmm, you tend to forget brother had it not been for me you would be dead by now. If that is not love then maybe I should allow you to circum to your own fate.” Arturo spoke dryly but a smile form on his lips that prompted Bernartro to laugh even more. “See I knew there was a sense of humour in there somewhere. Now Erihsehc tell me more about this Sen. I have caught a glimpse and I have you say I wish I had a travelling companion with such beauty.”

Arturo was quick of the mark before Erihsehc could respond.

“Bernartro, if you were to see Sen in her true form I fear your eyes would explode. However Erihsehc I am intrigued to know if you have seen Sen in her true form?”

Everyone stopped as thus on tenterhooks waiting for a response.

“Yes I have seen Sen in her Sylph form and as beauty goes I can only add it was a breathtaking moment.” In his mind an image of Sen appeared but he hid his thought well and carried on eating. Bernartro clapped his hands loudly and Erihsehc swore his smile grew twice as big.

“Well if you will excuse me I need to see Sen and show her our gem collection. We also have a few other items that might be of use to her. Erihsehc I will speak with you before you leave.” With that Arturo left but not before Bernartro had slapped him heavily on his back.

“Erihsehc?” Zenb spoke to catch his attention. “Lennier has a map for your journey detailing the last whereabouts for those you seek. If there are any developments we shall get word to you. With Joneth going after Brastion and Lennier trying communicate with the wizard, hopefully by time you return all eight will be in place and you can return to your true home, all of you can. Now have you any question?”

“Just one, what happen to Fenndell?”

”Ah, Fenndell. He was a good man the one that save you and gave you your name. Sadly he was capture by the high priest for having magical use. It was probably why your visions took so long to form clearly. As we could not contact directly it would have been too dangerous we decided to hide you and give you a false memory. When we lost contact we got news that Fenndell had been taken to the Tower and we know that had was tortured. He died for the cause and did not reveal any plans. Had he done so the High Priest would have given up the chase for a Sylph and hunted you and the others down instead. You will need to convince the others to return here. Quite how you will manage that with Jade and Eamonn well until you get there I am not sure what you will encounter. Now if you will excuse me I have a few duties to attend to in town. If I am not back before you return I am sure Bernartro will take good care of you and I wish you well with your journey.” Zenb stood and left Lennier followed giving Erihsehc the map and what was now becoming a familiar friendly smile.

“Do not mind Lennier, for a halfling he rarely speaks but he does possess a good singing voice and before the nights out I am sure he will treat us to a song or two, inspiration for your journey so to speak. Now what say to go with this fine food I get us some fine ale and you can tell me more about Sen.”

Erihsehc sat as Bernartro went for the ale. He picked up the map but decided not to open it. That was for tomorrow he thought. Tonight I am going to enjoy and relax. Despite the news he had been given he knew deep down he would be in for a trouble free night. Tomorrow is tomorrow and tonight is tonight

Erihsehc gazed up upon hearing Sen’s voice to find her in elf form, he recognised her from the marketplace a few days earlier and a half felt smile formed on his lips. He was truly pleased to see her but his mind and heart both struggled to muster anything more warming. He thought briefly if she ever worried about changing form and what would happen if it was not possible to change at all but to remain permanently fixed in one form. Of course she knew what form to take and when best to use it for him however his form was now a mystery.

"It is good to see you Sen. Am I fine? I can not lie sudden events have revealed a revelation that have shaken me and left my mind in a worse state of turmoil to which I am trying to keep under control. It seems my visions; nightmares so to speak are all reflections of a former life one my mind is trying to piece together. I shall in time explain and give you an explanation. However if what Zenb and spoke of is accurate then there is a way to free my mind of its turbulent state and free you from your pursuers. Zenb has explained that there is a power so great on this world it can change the very fabric of everything around us. They have known for a while but only recently have they understood what is required. I am just one part of this power however there are seven other elements that make up the whole. I along with seven others came to this world scattered and kept hidden and safe. Only now is it important that the eight of us gather together once more. I need with your help have to find and bring the others back here. Of the seven Joneth is already present and is going after Brastion whom you have already met. It is up to me to find four others. One an elf Ariel is being hidden safe by the elves in the southern forests, a barbarian known as Vilerune is in the wastelands of Carthanthia, however the first place to go will be to the northern forest of Nordathian on the border with the dwarven lands where two rangers Jade and Eamonn can be found. They seem to have knowledge of these pursuers that are after you and Zenb is going to arrange distractions to hopefully bide time. Whether is will work I can not be sure but finding these others is now imperative and I would welcome your company."

Erihsehc look up again towards Sen’s kind and friendly face. He had not revealed all just yet it was not yet time to. He needed to come to turns with the news himself before explaining to Sen the true extent of the situation.

"If you have any question I will do my best to answer and if you are willing to come we will leave at first light. We will need to get a good rest before the journey. I believe this will be of more use to you."

Erihsehc held out the gemstone she had given to him earlier and this time an affectionate smile form on his lips as well as in his eyes.

Arturo smiled whilst listening intently to Sen.

“It was not really hard to lay the trap for a fake Sylph. The Talosians hold a hatred for dwarves you see, as they know the Sylph visit them for gems. However with the help of the dwarves themselves we have been able to use the spies against the Talosians by fabricating an elaborate lie that the dwarves have decided to capture a Sylph and trade it with...well that is irrelevant. What does matter is that the false rumours have worked and now the High Priest is too focused on the dwarves than the issue that really matters. If what you say about these others then there is no use in contacting them or indeed they will be fooled in chasing a figment of our imagination. Shame really they could have been very advantageous. Right we are here, I am not sure what state we shall find Erihsehc in so you may what to prepare yourself for the worse.” With that Arturo rode through the gates and towards Zenb’s grand residence.

____________________________________________________________

Erihsehc sat on a bed his head in his hands staring blankly at the below. It had been a while since Zenb told him who he was. Joneth who had now left to try and save Brastion confirmed the story. Now his mind was distressed and was not ready nor wanted to go any further. It was all just too much and as all his visions now clearly hurtling through his mind, Erihsehc trying desperately to calm it down all he could do was clutch onto the gem Sen had given him. It was the only thing that now felt real.

Arturo had seemingly done enough for now to gain the trust of Sen but much was troubling him. The journey to start with was well a little awkward. Sen seem to be troubling walking and despite offers of assistant with a ride on the back of his horse the Sylph was more than willing to carry out the journey on foot and at times stumbling. Still Arturo was wary not to damage a fragile relationship so he kept questions to the troubles at hand.

“Tell me Sen, I have had visions of these others that are determined to catch you but what have you done so bad for the pursuit. I mean is it just you they are after or are they after your kind in general. I only enquire, as should they gain news of the fake Sylph in Bofkrak are they likely to go after that one instead of you? It might determined on how we can manipulate the situation be of an advantage to both our parties”

"Hmmm, I guess if I am ever going to gain your trust I will need to be more open. What I am about to say might be out of the ordinary and apart from Zenb you are the only other person that this information has been entrusted to." Arturo walked over to a tree stump sat down took a deep breath and then looked Sen directly in the eye.

"I am not sure what you know of this world but you must understand in this world magic is somewhat outlawed. The priests of Tylosian seek out anyone who shows signs of any sort of magical use or powers and well they are rarely seen again. For my own sins I have a power that allowed me to see all that is present. I can not see the future or past but I can see all that is now whether in front of my eyes, in a distant land, invisible, I am not sure how or why I came upon this it just always been there. I was lucky in that Zenb found me before the priests and taking me in helped hide and let me control my visions without detection. Had the priests found out about me first I now doubt I would not be here today. The other issue about this world is that well we know that other worlds exist, other dimensions, planes what ever you want to call them however on this world the portal for better a word is one way. We know others come to this world but no one from this world has ever left. The knowledge to move between worlds of course is what everyone is after, the priests especially which is way anyone showing any form of magic is taken. I have known about Sylph for as long as I can remember. I believe this is one world that is beneficial to them for gemstones. For us they are for decoration but for you something a lot more powerful. So you can see why capturing one of your kind would be very valuable. I am able to see you I disguise not because I know you are in disguise but because I already knew you were here. Elves rarely venture in these parts especially alone and though I saw you out of the window at the mansion in your true form I confident you were the one that had been travelling with Erihsehc. I was the one that alerted Zenb about Erihsehc and the others and only recently have I been following Erihsehc progress. It is time now that he must follow his path and it is only because you have been following him I knew of your existence. Although I was unsure about telling Zenb about you I believe it will be beneficial and I have his oath that only he and he alone will know about you. When I knew about you I got visions of other visitors to this world and although they are some distance from here I also knew what they came for, you. So you can either take my word and join with us and as I have said we will aid you or you can leave this world, disappear only to know it will not be long before your pursuers will track you down again. I am not sure what they want with you but you have a chance to come with me and maybe we can help each other. So what do you say?" Finished, Arturo awaited for Sen to respond and for any other questions she might have.

Arturo was pleased Sen showed even if it was in disguise. It was never going to be easy to gain the trust of a Sylph so showing no harmful intention he indicated that he was carrying no weapons and kept a distance. Keeping a distance was not for her safety but for his own. As much as he has dealt with Sylphs before he also knew how deadly they could be and therefore had to be treated with utmost respect.

“It is good to see you again, it is a shame we could not speak at the mansion, still I hope that the bag of gems have been more than useful. My reason for seeking you out is simply because events have taken a turn for the worse and well the only way I can put this is....we need your help. Erihsehc the man you have been accompanying should by now be with Zenb whom I made out to be an unsavoury character. In retrospect Zenb is a bit of a hero of mine but past differences have seen us put distance between ourselves and it is only recently we have made an alliance, one that hopefully will benefit us both. Only Zenb knows of your existence here and therefore other than Erihsehc and myself no one knows you exist and though I do not expect you to trust me we aim to keep it that way. We know you yourself are in danger from creatures not of this world and as part of our bargain is to work with you to defeat these creatures thus setting up free from pursuit. However time is short and I am more than willing to answer any question you have but I request that you travel with me and to meet up with Erihsehc. I fear the news he is going to be given may send him mad but it is important that he understands and carries out the quest that is his path, one that is best shared with someone he cares for. So Sen, will you join and travel with me?” Arturo stands as if a servant awaiting a response from his master.

In Bofkrak, Nasur speaks with the dwarven council.

“The rumour of the Sylph has been successful and the high priest is gathering his army.”

“And of the stranger” An old grey beard dwarf bellows, his appearance and seating showing his high ranking with in the council.

“He is being lead to our human ally Zenb.”

“You my leave and await their arrival. Now we have much to disgust.” The old dwarf waves his hand sending Nasur away who does not wait around and quickly departs.

Subject: Meeting With Zenb

It had been a while since Erihsehc left Sen by the woods. Still clutching the gemstone he was given his heart wanted to return concerned for her safety. His mind however wanted to carry on and find Zenb. At least then maybe he could formulate a plan. Using the directions Belnox gave him he was soon closing down on Zenb’s estate. He knew there would be a trap but the closer he got it just seemed less likely. He was sure he was in the right place but there was no one around that was until a well dressed man appeared.

”Greetings, I have been expecting you. Now if you would please follow me.” The man made his way inside a building. It was some way of the main house and as Erihsehc got closer noticed that it was a crypt. Tying up his horse he followed into the darkness down a stairwell still grasping his gemstone. Flickering of light began to emerge and when he finally reached the bottom and entered through an arched opening he was greeted by two figures, one of whom he recognised.

The well dressed man spoke ”I apologise for our place of business but I can not take any risks of being overheard. Firstly let me introduce myself, I am Zenb, and this as you probably already know is Joneth.”

Erihsehc looked at Joneth “How are you here?”

Joneth spoke reassuringly “There is much to do and say but for now do not be concerned by what you may have heard about Zenb. He is here to help us and therefore I am here to ensure that what Zenb is about to disclose is true and that he can be trusted. Our lives do depend on his success.”

Was this the trap that he should be wary about, not physical but one of words. Erihsehc looked to Zenb, the man he would admit did not look as threatening as he otherwise imagined. “You have my attention”

”Much has changed recently and therefore time is of the essence. Even our own plans have had to change recently. Now I believe you are travelling with a companion, a Sylph. Her life is very much entwined in your path my friend and is a shame that she did not travel with you. Not to worry I have arranged some one to find and speak with her as we cannot allow the strangers to capture her. Now what I am about to say will come as a shock”

____________________________________________________________

Stealthy making his way around the woodland area his eyes and mind were concentrating on his objective, to find the Sylph. He had the advantage of being able to see her even if she was invisible and therefore the only person who could have undertook the task. He knew they did not trust nor freely communicate with humans but as a good source of gemstones he had met with Sylph’s before and often found them fascinating.

Aware that she was most likely be residing in the trees and therefore hidden than on the woodland floor Arturo looked up “Sen” he called out “I need to speak with you.”

Listening to Sen did not fill Erihsehc with any confidence. The trio of Pursuers would no doubt obliterate anyone who stood in there path and as a man of honour who would defend Sen to the death, he got the impression that he was not even a close match of any of these fiends.

"You know how to paint a happy picture" Erihsehc quipped trying to inject some humour into the situation.

Taking a deep breath it was time to make a decision.

"Right, with luck this other Sylph is not being held captive. You mentioned gemstones and it is plausible that the dwarves could be trading we can not rely solely on the news we have. We need to gather information so we could head back to Kint, speak to Belnox to see if we can get in touch with Arturo. The only issue I have with this is that I would be returning without Bernartro and that might not go down healthily. So I will continue to Zenb’s estate and carry out my task. We know Zenb is laying some kind of trap but if I can get Bernartro back then maybe we can get Arturo onside and use his influence to gain support."

His heart felt for Sen as she stood there. Maybe it would be wise to let her go but what kind of life must she lead always being on the run. So he made a pledge.

"I know I can not offer much protection but I will do all I can to free you from these Pursuers. So if you’re up for a fight?"

Grabbing his horse’s reins he was eager to get going. Events were happening quickly and who knew how much time they had left. He looked to Sen and smiled.

"Look on the bright side, it could be raining."

Erihsehc listened to Sen and soon realised that the situation was about to become even more complicated. He was racking his brains on the current situation. He was already behind in trying to release Bernartro from Zenb who they knew was laying some sort of trap. Brastion was being carted off to a Tower. People from his nightmares were real and a link to his former life and now the one real friend he made contact with in the last few years is being pursued with another of her kind in danger.

"Are you able to get in touch with this other Sylph? I need you to let me know more about these Pursuers and more about your kind? I am more than willing to travel to Bofkrak but we may need to get aid and news that might mean using the few contacts we have including Arturo."

He would need more information if he was to consider the next move. If he could help then he would but it also meant that she would have no choice but to leave.

You can only marvel at Phelps and in generations to come they will still be talking about this truly great swimmer and though I am not a avid fan of swimming glad to be a spectator of this one man show.

I can't say I agree that he is the greatest Olympian ever, (Well Not Just Yet). I personally feel those athletes who only have one gold medal chance per games who managed to win 4-5 gold’s over 4-5 games have to be classed as great Olympian....Our own Sir Steve Redgrave for instance. However to win eight medals in one games is a superb achievement whether anyone can match it in our lifetime....well nobody expected Spitz record to go did they.

I have heard that the Russians are cloning a Human/Dolphin for the 2012 after failing to nab some Phelps DNA!!!

Erihsehc got to the meeting place but there was no sign of Sen. All he could do was wait but for how long, had she already been and left. No she would not do that and if she had been caught news would have surely filtered out. So he allowed his horse to roam and rest on the grass while he sat with his back to a tree and waited. It gave him chance to think. In the pub Chesterfeld mentioned Joneth. Now this was another confirmed sighting of a person from his visions, only in his mind Joneth was dead. He died in a trap so how is it he is alive hear. It must be the one and the same as Joneth and Brastion were both cavaliers and very close. Erihsehc was now sure the others could also be in these lands, Aerial, Jade, Eamonn, Vilerune and the other two who he did not have names for, a wizard and a dwarf. He was sure his visions were part of his past life and if he could piece that together then his own identity could finally be uncovered.

It was not long before Sen appeared much to his relief. Just seeing her again was a form of comfort but he also sensed apprehension.

"Brastion has been taken to the Tower of Tylosian. I am unsure why at the moment but a High Priest has him well guarded. It means will shall have to leave him to his own fate for now. A rescue is out of the question as I do not want to risk or put you near the High Priest or his territory. I have also gain news of another Sylph. Apparently your kind are very sort after in this world again I am not sure why. The Sylph is in the dwarf region of Bofkrak and this High Priest is sending an army to the dwarven stronghold to capture it. I recognise this puts you in a difficult situation and I am prepared to assist in any way if you feel we need to go this Sylphs aid?" Erihsehc was unsure how Sen would take the news. He did not know much about her race and why they were hunted so obsessively.

Subject: Finally a Post!

After introducing himself, Chesterfeld gave Erihsehc an insightful history of the town. He was quite the talker and was more than pleased to see that Erihsehc took an interest. Novo was a wealthy trading town that did not tolerate crime, well not the type of crime that had not been approved or organised by La Tverige and alike. Still if you kept clean you could probably do well. Most of the history was about the numerous taverns with there macabre names that appeared on nearly every street. Of some they passed included; The Slaughtered Wench, The Birthday Massacre and The Pig & Death. He also spoke of La Tverige who pretty much ran the town as the Lord was a weak and stumbling man who just happened to inherit his title. La Tverige however was a different kettle of fish and not one to cross swords with. It was when they neared the prison he also spoke of Gok, La Tverige personal torturer. It only came about as across the street was yet another tavern which was frequently visited by Gok with the aptly name; The Merry Executioner.

Erihsehc looked at the prison, Chesterfeld standing next to him.

"You know when people start asking question about the prison and particularly about the inmates, it rouses suspicion."

Erihsehc knew he needed to take a chance and therefore confided though reluctantly neglecting certain facts.

"I am searching for a man who was taken by La Tverige this morning, I am not sure of his name but he was elderly."

Whether Chesterfeld believed him or not he did not show it, he just looked passive and willing to help.

"Well you’re in luck. My cousin works as a guard and with a small token I am sure I could find out some information for you?"

Erihsehc was grateful for the help so handed over some coins and was instructed to wait in the inn. He sat by a window ordered a beer and waited for Chesterfeld return. As he did his thoughts turned to Sen. Was it a mistake coming into the town, for all he knew Sen could be outside of town waiting with Brastion. He needed to conclude here quickly and return to the meeting place soon otherwise risk losing his one true companion.

It was not long until Chesterfeld returned with news.

"Well your man was briefly taken to prison before Gok got his hands on him. He is alive and has clerics tending him. He must be of importance as the High Priest has ordered him to be transferred to the Tower of Tylosian. He probably would have stood more chance staying with La Tverige than going there. They are also looking for his companion a man named Joneth." Erihsehc tried to hide his surprise of hearing this name and felt he did a poor job. Chesterfeld either did not care or did not notice as he carried on.

"Also it seems that La Tverige has been ordered to gather his army and is to join up with the High Priests gathered force heading towards Bofkrak. Rumours have it that the dwarves have a Sylph so no wonder the High Priest is willing to risk a war."

Erihsehc did not want to ask why a Sylph was so important, yes they were rare creatures but worth going to war over? He then thought of Sen and what she would make of the news. If they knew she was here then surely they would go all out in capturing her. It seems it was becoming more and more dangerous for her to stay and if she did know about the news then maybe she had already left. He needed to get back and buying Chesterfeld ale, he thanked him for all his help and left.

Brastion it seems would have to wait and then there was Joneth. He made his way out of the town heading for the meeting point and just hoped Sen was there and safe.

Subject: Hight Priest of Tylos

Erihsehc made his way through the town. It was a place of wealth; merchants were rife in all the hustle of the main square. Having asked around Erihsehc was in the shadows once more looking towards the courthouse of the town. The Lord presided there and he was toiling with his mind whether to plea for Brastion’s release. The whole area soon came to a standstill as a cavalcade of horses and carriages hurtled towards the courthouse. Erihsehc intrigued moved out of the shadows and stood by a commoner.

"Who is that?"

The bewildered commoner looked at Erihsehc "Why it’s the High Priest of Tylos. You’re not from around here are you, I can tell."

"Why would a High Priest come here?"

"Well that I am not sure, I do not have privy to such information however there are rumours that he is building an army. People are saying that most of the Lords in the area have sided with the High Priest including our own and are gathering a force to march on Bofkrak."

"Bofkrak?" Erihsehc pulled out a coin and flicked it to the commoner. It did the trick and the commoner seemed more than happy to talk.

"Rumours have it that the Province is split, at first civil war was expected but neither side seems interested in battling with the other. It’s all hearsay as everyone has different versions but the High Priest it after something of extreme value and it happens to be located in Bofkrak. Now as you know the Province has an uneasy truce with the Dwarves. They stay out of our territory we stay out of there’s. You do not even see traders anymore. Still whatever they are after it is worth a war with the stronghold."

"You mentioned a split?" It was then Erihsehc got his first glimpse of the High Priest as he left his carriage and walked the brief distance to the courthouse.

"Yes well not all the Lords are aligned to the High priest some have gathered together and are lead by a man named Zenb, however some say that he is just the face of a very sinister organisation. No one knows for sure but whoever they are both sides are after the same thing."

Erihsehc stood, Zenb name echoed around his head.

"One last question, I am after the Prison?"

"Ah which one? You see there is the prison and then there is La Tverige’s prison. Not many come out alive from that one. I’ll tell you what I am heading that way so I can show you both and should you have any more questions."

The commoner rubbed his coin and placed it in his pocket and walked off. Erihsehc followed.

Inside the courtroom, the High Priest meets with Lord Peruical.

"Your grace it is a pleasure..." Lord Peruical begins to bow but is abruptly interrupted

"Get up man I do not have time ceremonial duties. I will be leaving at quickly as I arrived so get me Captain La Tverige." The High Priest storms through heading for the Lords chambers.

"He is..." Lord Peruical stumbles behind.

"Ah Captain, your already here, good. Please sit I have little time." The Captain followed by the Lord sit awaiting for the High Priest to begin who is casually pouring himself some wine.

"Now firstly the prisoner you caught, I hope he is in good health as I want him taken to the Tower of Tylosian. I hope for your sake Captain you did not torture him too much?"

"Your grace, he is alive I have clerics tending too him now but his mind is strong I was unable to get much information out of him." The Captain bowed his head.

"Not too worry I have ways and means at the Tower that will get the information I require. Now gentleman the main reason I am here is that Captain you are to gather your men and meet up with the main army outside Hjurdens. You will take orders from General Hoffpopple and from there it will march onto Bofkrak. It is from strong sources that the Dwarves have captured what we are after. The army will first try and negotiate but if that does not work it leaves only war."

"And what of Zenb?" The Lord speaks worryingly.

"Do not worry about Zenb; he will not attack you or any of the other Lords. He will not risk a battle that would cripple us both. Plus it seems he is interested in someone else but that is not of your concerned. All you need to concern yourself is the task in hand, it is imperative that we capture from the dwarves the Sylph."

La Tverige was waiting outside of a dilapidated building fit only for rats and beggars both of which had been evicted for him to carry out his sadistic pleasure. The door opened and in the doorway stood a burly man whom by just looking at him had all the demeanour of someone whose sole purpose in life was to inflict pain on people. It was a task he particularly relished and La Tverige was more than willing to supply him with endless supply of victims.

La Tverige stepped into dark interior and as the door closed it left only beam of light that was directed on to a spot in the middle of the room to which sat there was a naked, bound and gagged Brastion.

"Now Brastion," La Tverige cracked his knuckles and walked nonchalantly towards Brastion, "I shall make this as easy to understand as possible. I shall ask questions to which you will answer and should I be dissatisfied with any of the answers my associate here will be more than happy to extract the information from you." La Tverige gave a nod to which the burly man strides menacingly with a clenched fist and deals Brastion a heavy blow to the head almost knocking him and the chair over.

"Now you have had a taster we shall start. So stop talking riddles and let me know where you came from and how you got here?"

Erihsehc travelled behind and left Brastion in Sen’s hands. She would know what to do should anything untoward happen and had agreed that he remain just outside the towns boundary and await there return.

It allowed him time to think about the past few days. He was sure he was now on the right path the path to his past, where he came from, who he was. He could only remember the last few years yet his subconscious mind seemed to be that of a man that was wise to the world. He knew names and places as if he had already been there but he always got the impression whenever he visited a place it was for the first time. He did not even know his real name. It was a traveller who had mercy on him all those years ago that gave him his current name. As for his nightmares maybe they were not nightmares but visions of his past life. Brastion was real enough and if that was the case then maybe the others too were here and able to provide answers. He needed Brastion back he needed more answers and it was with that he decided to enter the town. It was a risk and Sen might not be able to locate him but he could not take anything for granted. If Sen got in trouble then he would feel much better being on hand to help rather than sit idly and wait.

Back in Kint.

"Well what news?" Nasur commanded as he poured a returning Tlek a flagon of ale.

"Cire has met up with the target and Zenb has been informed. As long as Cire carries out his part then all is ready. As for us I am to accompany you to Bofkrak." Tlek picked up and knocked back the ale.

"That’s quite impossible; you know how the Dwarves loath humans they’ll never let you enter, plus..." He paused as he looked at Tlek who began choking, "You’ll be dead before then." Tlek looked towards Nasur his hands now around his own throat and coughing blood. The poison swiftly kicked into effect and Nasur watched as the man he had to entrust for so long collapsed to the floor choking and coughing before finally succumbing to his evitable death.

From the shadows Arturo emerges. "Tell Belnox to clear up this mess and prepared yourself for Bofkrak, your time hear is finished. And Nasur, remember you still have much to do." The dwarf could only watch as Arturo left.

Subject: Let Him Hang if Needs Must

Erihsehc listened to Sen and her views were very astute. It could be a trap; they could be in league with Zenb or have seen an opportunity for a ransom. It could simply be a case that Brastion is a thief and they are going to punish him for his crimes unaware of his wider importance. Whatever the reasons behind it all they needed to get him out and Sen’s ideas were a better option than having to risk confrontation and exposure.

“Okay if you are reasonably confident that we can pull Brastion out undetected then that is the way to go. I feel we will need to do this the hard way as it will create far less attention in the long term, well at least until we get to Zenb’s estate.” Erihsehc looks at Sen and admires the risk she is prepared to take for a complete stranger. “First and foremost is that is at any point you are detected or feel threatened you get out of there even if it means letting Brastion hang. I will travel as close to the where ever they are taking him and wait for you.”

Erihsehc glances over his horse and is ready to move.

“We should get going, I shall keep my distance.” Erihsehc mounts his horse and sets off.

Ahead the horsemen lead by Captain La Tverige enter the large town of Nova. Brastion is placed in to the prison and the Captain meets with the Lord.

“What news of the outlaws?” The Lord speaks with a brash loud tone that reflects his manner.

“The one we believe is Brastion is in prison awaiting your command. He speaks but not what we require. However with your agreement I believe a bit of torture will loosen his tongue.”

The Lord nods. “And the other….Joneth?”

“No sign as yet your Lord but I have men still searching. He could not have gone far.”

“Well Good work Captain. I expect to see you later for the banquet we have an importance guest that I like you to meet.”

“Very well your Lord. Now if that is all I shall go and speak with Brastion to see what information I can get out of him.” The lord waves his hand dismissing La Tverige who promptly marched out of the room with a glint in his eye.

Erihsehc was left dumbfounded upon the initial appearance of Sen. He had seen many races and heard about many more but seeing Sen and her true image he now understood why being invisible would be for the best. Her beauty was breathtaking and would indeed attract a lot of attention not all of it for the best intentions. Standing there he could feel his body temperature rising, sweat beginning to build up on his hands and neck. Thinking of his own unshaven worse for wear appearance he shamefully diverted his eyes and went about packing his horse.

Taking a deep breath and clearing his throat he finally spoke keeping his back to Sen.

“You are a Sylph right, I heard of your kind but never came across one until now. I guess it does explain a few questions. If others knew of your presence I fear your safety would be in greater danger than mine.” He paused and feeling he had his composure under control and felt it rude to have his back turned on someone who had gone out of there way to help him, he turned around to face Sen.

“Well it is a pleasure to meet you Sen, I am thankful of your presence.” He smiled and gave a slight bow. “However we need to deal with Brastion and unless you have any ideas I feel requesting an audience with this Lord Peruical should be considered. We do not want to draw to much attention to ourselves but again I believe Brastion has a part to play in the events that are unfolding so he might be worth pursuing. I wish I could explain better but at the moment my thoughts are very muddled and most of it is not making sense but when Brastion spoke his name visions appeared in my mind as clear as day that only ever happened previously in my nightmares.”

Erihsehc looked down towards the dirt and rubbed his eyes with his fingers. He was tired and confused but mustering up his best smile he looked to Sen once more.

“So do we leave Brastion to his fate and continue to Nyadesdew or seek Brastion’s release?” It was wrong of him to expect Sen to have an answer but there he was with no one else to seek support from.

Subject: An Unexpected Arrival

The name overwhelmed Erihsehc so much so he almost toppled from his firm stance. He looked at Brastion how could he forget that this man was one of many that had plagued his mind for so many years. Fragments started to piece together in his mind. This man was part of a group that was on a quest, what for he was still not sure but he was certainly part of it and was a paladin...no he was a cavalier one of two in the group. That much he knew about the man, that and he prided himself on his appearance. Whatever was being played out; Erihsehc was now sure that Brastion was apart of it.

“I have been wondering whether you were real or not ever since my nightmares began and seeing you here confirms that there is more going on that I can comprehend. It must mean the others are...” Erihsehc finished mid sentence as drawing closer he heard the sound of horsemen. Part of him wanted to speak out to Sen but with Brastion close he refrained.

“I think we have company” Erihsehc spoke as he noticed a band of seven men slowing down towards the campsite. They looked like local authority and all bar one had weapons drawn. The leader halted the group and as the horse calmed down he and two others dismounted and walked towards Erihsehc and Brastion.

”I am captain La Tverige of the Novian Guard and this man is under arrest for theft. I do not expect you to refuse otherwise I shall have you arrested for harbouring a criminal. Now I hope with have an clear understanding.” The captain gave a sarcastic smile as he raised his hand and gave the command to the others to arrest Brastion. The others had their weapons ready to strike should the command be given and though Brastion was protesting his innocence, Erihsehc felt that this was not a fight he could win not even with the surprise elements of Sen, it was too risky revealing her.

“Wait, might I ask what will happen to him?”

”He is to be taken to the Novo court where he will be sentenced and then hanged for his crimes. Of course if you believe this pitiful man’s life is worth saving then you can always take it up with Lord Peruical but you better be quick as I fully expect this man to be hanging from a noose by noon.”

The band left leaving Erihsehc to consider his next move.

“Sen, we need to help Brastion. I need you to shadow the group and I will follow. If you can let Brastion know that we are looking into his release. I will seek an audience with this Lord, there must be someway of resolving this.”

Erihsehc was disappointed that this was going to delay his plans but if Zenb knew that he was coming then he could surely wait and extra day or so. It was still early and the sun had not even risen fully yet and with time of the essence it was going to be hit or miss whether they could save Brastion from his fate.

Erihsehc was pleased that Sen was going to stay, it confirmed her loyalty to the cause and as she had already pointed out as long as she remained invisible it gave them an advantage in the days ahead. He was also pleased that she was willing to show him her identity. However with the stranger starting to wake from his slumber it was wise that she remained invisible. Though they now knew this man was part of the same path he was taking until they were both comfortable with him then it was in the best interests to keep Sen hidden.

He moved over to the man and knelt by his side just as the man woke.

“Easy friend, I mean you no harm. I am Erihsehc a traveller on my way to Nyadesdew Province.” He reached for his water canister, “Here take a sip of water it will help.” Erihsehc placed the canister to his lips and allowed the man to take a small amount.

“What’s your name and is their anything I can do for you?"

It was Aban Faheen I noticed as I waited outside the palace. I was going to make my way in with my soon to be fellow traveller but instead just allowed him to walk right past me. Whether it was the fact that my appearance had made a dramatic change from when we last met or because a procession was now making its way into the palace and distracted him he did not notice yours truly and for a thief his eyes are key so I put it down to a rudimentary blunder. His brother I was sure would not make the same mistake if anything it would not surprise me if he was already here watching us both ready to boldly announce himself like the self-confident bonehead that he was.

The reason I was waiting outside the palace was simple, the Vizier knew who I was and therefore whoever informed him would most likely attended the banquet. So by getting there early I could watch the guests entering and hope that a face from the past an old enemy maybe would appear. Up to the point of seeing Aban Faheen it had been a waste of time and therefore could only expect that his informer be already inside.

Since leaving the twins I had spent my time wisely. I have to calm my wife and make up a story that the Vizier wanted me to be his personal merchant that required me to leave the city. Handing over the dinars the Vizier gave me helped convince her, I even brought myself to give my poor suffering wife some slap and tickle. Leaving the dogs was more heart breaking and of course I did not leave them with my wife. I had a good and trustful friend who was more than helpful to take care and of cause it cost me but a price well worth paying. I then went about getting attired for the banquet. Now being a merchant you get to know people and it was times like these you needed to barter to get a fair deal. Of course I was able to make my purchases more beneficial to myself and I had tailored an exceptional outfit from the finest materials, fit for a banquet. So as that was being made it gave me chance to wash, shave, haircut and generally transform my appearance, the results I should add took years off me and when I did look into the mirror I could almost see my form life behind my eyes. The last task before I left for the palace was to gather a few artefacts that were once part of my life. I was ready and now I stood waiting for the procession to enter the palace to which I would follow.
