Topic: Age of Worms Main thread
Subject: Amazed amusement

The disfigured dwarf hears the bellowing from outside the establishment as he rides by and, curious, he stops and slides off his mount, landing heavily. Tying the mount to a post (or hitch rail, if present), he enters the establishment, noting the odd name on the shingle "The Feral Dog". One look and a deep breath shows the dwarf that only such an animal named on the sign would stay in this place long.

A largish man is standing on a table, spouting to all who would listen about queens, dukes and demons and an epic battle between them. He also, rather forcefully, mentions his intentions to locate the hidden site of an artifact called the Rod of Law, broken into 7 parts during the battle of which he spoke. As he moved aside to let others enter, the dwarf smiled, slightly and slowly, a smile that did nothing to enhance his looks. Now this was of interest to the dwarf! He had heard of powerful artifacts from gods and demons alike that were the source of many stories and legends, but to actually hear a story about one told in his presence, and at the same time to hear that an artifact was believed to be nearby -- this may be what Pelor the Bright had intended him to experience! Why else would he be here, to witness the telling of (most) of a tale of epic measure, with the hint of glorious adventure in the same breaths?

He also witnessed the end of the tale and a brief exchange between the big man and an elf. A large elf, to be sure, larger than any the Dwarf had seen to date. The exchange seemed heated, although the dwarf could hardly hear what was said for the clamorous din in the place increased immediatly after the man had finished his history and stepped down from the table. Pausing for just a moment after the conversation between the two ended, he turned and stepped back outside to maintain a watch on his horse.

Reaching up to pat the mount's nose a few times and leaning against the post, he half-smiled and mused on what he had just heard and witnessed, abstractedly watching those who entered and left.

Wishes are no longer wishful thinking. They become law at the instant of creation. Failure to make it happen earns "capitol punishment" ... (pun intended)

I wish I knew the reason for this thread.

Subject: I appreciate the alternatives offered, but

I really am specifically looking for the 3.5e dataset for e-Tools.

I have PCGen with the 3.5e dataset and others.
I also have one called DMF (Dm's Familiar) that works well, also. I have the 3.5e dataset for that one, too.
I have e-tools with the 2e (rare), and 3e datasets and a few added ones for more volumes and options. I just missed out on ordering the 3.5e set before CMP and WoC got into their respective corners ... and now I can't find the da--- er, doggone thing. And since neither CMP nor WoC supports e-Tools anymore, neither of them will even address a query concerning the software.

So why not chuck it? Because it works, and along with the others I use, I get variety ... I just like to have options. The other two differ from each other and from e-Tools in the way they handle random number seeding and generation, which affects the outcome of randomization for character, monster, and treasure generation (for example).

But I digress. I do thank you for the alternatives, but I am looking for a specific thing.

... where or from whom I would be able to obtain the 3.5e dataset for CMP's e-tools? I would be willing to pay, if necessary. Its not on Amazon.com or e-Bay, and no gaming site I am familiar with has it or even knows where I can find it.

I was able to find the 3e dataset, but cannot find even a reference to the dataset for 3.5e. And Code Monkey and Wizards of the Coast are simply not talking about e-tools anymore, except to point fingers at each other.

Thank you in advance for any help or information anyone can provide ...

I thought I had someone to send one or two to me, but they dropped off the face of the earth ... and so I try again.
