Or the guest from hell,

I'm back. Fear me.

Been more places lately, and been moving around more often than one of Bin Laden's Boys. Settled in for a while in America's great southwest to enjoy the sunshine and the company of a few good friends.

Now to see what's shakin' ...

I hate to put this on the other two "contestants", but there really isn't much Jon can "do" if he is unconscious -- again ...

So my feeling is this:
You say that this is going to take all of us to survive.

Two party members are down (1 dead, 1 unconscious)

Meaning all of us are not capable of action.

Therefore we are not going to survive.

I await a resolving post ...

Jon slowly came to, emerging from the darkness of unconciousness slowly and with difficulty. He felt the movement of his body being dragged, and reached up to tap his friend Ja'ara on the arm as he came to. He said weakly, "I'm okay. I'm okay."

As he tried to stand, he noticed by chance that his bow, arrows, backpack, and staff were only a few step from where Ja'ara had pulled him to. He moved to retrieve them as he glanced about for the dwarf and halfling. They were not to be seen. Picking up his gear, quickly donning backpack and quiver and slinging the bow across his shoulders, he gripped his staff as he tried to locate any thing -- anything at all -- that seemed to be floating that might hold his weight. Inwardly, he cursed the luck of circumstances that left him ill-prepared for this situation.

To Ja'ara, he simply said, "Find a float, friend Ja'ara! It seems we will have plenty of time to talk more until, or if, help arrives ..."

I read your opening post more than once and thought long and hard before I posted this.

For me, there are simply too many things wrong with the opening post for me to even begin to seem diplomatic about how to correct them.

In a nutshell, the post doesn't even come close to the premise described in your recruit thread.

If you are interested, I will answer any questions about my feelings and offer suggestions via PM, but they are too extensive to take place during a game that is supposedly in progress ...

I will apologize for any inconvenience, but I just cannot -- I just can't ...

Reralae or Aardvark?

Is the price for ammunition shown "per round", "per clip", or "per box"?

I guess what I am asking is how many rounds of each type of ammo does each amount shown purchase?

Along with the info PMd to you about a story-tick, I have this:

Jack is a survivalist/hunter type and has the ability to make (and fletch) his own bows and arrows, make bowstrings, etc. I would also like to purchase a hunting rifle for him (with or without scope), but need to know how much the amount of ammo I would like him to have will cost. I have an idea how much ammo he could carry comfortably, but while a survivalist, he is also not exactly a "doomsayer", sohe has a cerrtain "realistic" view of how much he feels the need to carry ... ]

Questions answered, and info led to other answers. Thanks!

You now officially have my interest and my commitment.

Already started a character, can send him at request.

[On edit and after re-reading and finding answers I missed ...]

I understand the lycanthropy would be recent, and unknown to each of us at the start (as I understand it). So the lycanthrope form(s) would have the minimum HD (6d8+24), no?

So Jack Mooney, circus owner (werebear) would be, like, a Werebear 6/Ranger 4? Or would I be allowed to change the relationship a bit and be a Werebear 8/Ranger 2? I think the former would ensure game balance.

Also as I understand you. the Ranger spell (and class) abilities would show up as surprising revelations of unkown origin to Jack, right? And maybe or maybe not all aat once?

Also, I have a twist I would like to add (via PM) to your storyline. Nothing major, but I think interesting ... If rejected, no harm, no foul, but the idea flashed all of a sudden as a variation of an old game theme from long ago ...

With 25+ years experience in D&D alone, alogn with other games ...

I have never felt the desire to play a lycanthrope, until I saw this (as a lurker). Signed on to sign up. But I have a few questions of my own since I am not used to the Lycanthrope thing ...

3 chracter sheets in one (Human/Animal/Hybrid stats)?

or 1 set of stats for all forms?

Since lycanthropes can only have HD up to 10, do I fill in with class levels to 12?

I understand the 32-point buy (where points disappear quick on scores above 14...), but I also am interested in money for equipment. Usually, though, at this level one can almost be assured of having pretty much what they need. The operative word is "need" here, not "want", correct?

Modern world, but not modern earth. Got that. So weapon types would be: Percussive or explosive projectiles? Plasma emitters? Flechettes? Or just the revert-to-feudal types of weapons?

I have more questions, but those will do for a start.

I am thinking a short, stocky werebear warrior ...

You've been a baaaaaad boy! Dos thou knowest what thou hast done(eth)?

Thou has caused a great and nagging twitch to appear on the left side of my face, a visage that rivals that of Tom himself in sheer unadulterated sexuality. Yon countenance has, until now, brought indescribable pleasure to all women of the feminine gender and persuasion who have had the opportunity to gaze upon it.

And I was proud of that (in all humility) until Tom decided to associate himself with the Church of the mother-- Hubbard. Nay, "associate" is not even the correct term! He is an activist for that ferschlugginner cult!

I may never get rid of this twitch now ...

Cursing out loud for his lack of bow and arrows, weapons he could really deal damage with, Jon was nonetheless relieved when he notice that his downward movement to cut the rope took him out of the path of a wildly-swinging blade of one of the boarders. Growling, he looked up to the sword-wielding pirate just as a plate slammed into the bloke and broke into shards of fired ceramic. Then a short, sudden silence ensued, during which the word "wizard" echoed a few times. But the sounds of battle restarted all too soon, and seemed the more violent for the pause. The first plate to hit his opponent was followed close-on by a second plate that evidently hit something vital, for the man clutched as his throat even as he fell.

That worry eliminated, Jon began to move to the next nearest rope and noticed that men on the other ship were readying to fly another rope over to the beleaguered vessel on which Jon was a passenger-slash-crewman. It was tied to the mast of the pirate ship and looked to be headed for the mast of their own boat. A quick glance showed all that were capable were fighting, those that were not fighting were either running or dying.

Jon had no illusions of living forever without danger or injury, although he had entertained hopes of it ... He ran forward, silently slashing at anyone in his way, to intercept the path of this new binding threat, this mast-to-mst rope. He would either cut the rope or, failing that, cut the carriers of it. It must be prevented!

That would be me. Stryke said okay to the sorcerer after I had corrected my post and sent him a half-orc fighter sheet. Then, so he would have what I had posted for, I sent him the sheet for a half-orc sorceress. Since he has them both, I'll let him decide which he wants in.

To both of you: Sorry about the confusion ...

Dungeon of the Demon Spot
Spot Awn, The Ink Spot, Spot of Darkness, by many names is the creature known and feared. His influence has, lately, spread to other planes, engulfing entire worlds and cultures. Now come the saviours of legacy and legend, whose duty it is to either rub out that encroaching stain of blackness, or create a bright Spot where none was seen before.

By Right, or by Rote.
