Topic: Your map for this webcomic, can I have it?
Subject: 8 men enter, 3 men leave

Well, our bold adventurer party (of 8 souls) arrived on scene to the monastery. The party consists of a Radiant Servant of Pelor (RSoP to make it shorter), a Hospatalier (paladin with fewer spells and more combat abilities), a gnome druid, a human barbarian, a dwarf ranger with a musket, a human rogue, a human cleric to the god of magic, and an elven monk entered.

I played with their heads a bit using the old "you hear a door slam shut right after they open one" trick which, to my pleasure, they took the bait and ended up in a cloakroom. My RSoP and the druid have to leave for other endeavors out of game, and the party chooses to trudge on. Then I had a room set up with an acid trap (2d6 first round, 1d6 second round) and a room with three skeletons and four zombies. I had set my zombies with using bite any time they would get a full round attack and only a DM natural 19 or 20 would allow the zombies to successfully bite. What I didn't expect is for the DM to have some hot dice that evening. Our Hospatalier boldly surges into a the monster room using shield bash, and is bitten twice by zombies. As he is dying my players, rightly and without meta-gaming, cast a shield on him and try and heal him. By the time the heals come around, he's already turned and the cleric receives pain post heal lets him know things have gone horribly astray. Cue the Hospatalier becoming a zombie and striking at his friends. He then bites the Barbarian, rolls a natural 20 on his bite, and now we have a second party member on his way to the great beyond. All party members are given a chance to spot the attack and see if the bite draws blood, all succeed. Now's when things get interesting. We have 2 zombies left alive, a PC zombie, and a skeleton. The party votes an all out route of the temple and leaving the Barbarian to heroically die and become a zombie while fighting off the NPC's. The rogue, cleric, and monk think this sounds like a great idea, but the Ranger has other ideas. He starts attacking the NPC's and when there is only one NPC left he says he wants to kill off the other PC to keep his honor rather than let him become a zombie. Fight scene between the three combatants ensues as the rest of the party protects their skins and heads for the exit.

Long story short? I killed off two players Friday, one remained behind and became trapped in the monastery from his friends barring the door, and they still have to come back to the temple.

And I loved it.

I've seen some DM's actually keep the rails a runnin even with the players best intents to throw wrenches into the gears, or rip off the rails

So, I'm setting up a new game in the D&D thread. Hope to see some new and exciting characters abound. My thought processing and creatures and such shall come either from Pathfinder 3.5 or D&D 3.5. I am used to attempting to herd cats (my live game is 9 players!) and hope to try out a few things I intend to possibly use in further campaigns.

I'd prefer to keep this as fun as possible. My ideal players are: A. Enthusiastic, B. Social with one another, and C. Bring some real life to the characters. Any interactions between players that is non-combat can be whenever and however the party chooses.

What you can expect from me: Disaster, dangers, and timely postings so the plot can keep moving.

Will be setting up some things in the near future for dungeon crawls and other major battle heavy events. Lurkers welcome and I'll be updating from behind the DM screen Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Happy gaming!

Subject: Let's see what we can do.

Michael heard the cheers from inside, but had missed the better half of the speech because he had pulled guard duty for this time and he wasn't going to let any over-glorified piece of silicon in a coke can get past him and get at his responsibility. Putting his cigarette out against the wall the thought made him smile. His responsibility. Had this been any other time in the past he'd have been sitting in a cell without anything to worry about except the occasional prison shank. He stood up from the crouch he was in and re-adjusted his load. In his hands he had his trusted companion, a Mossberg 500 Mariner edition. He could jump into any water and come up pushing lead out and this puppy loved it. In his shoulder holsters sat a pair of Sig Sauer pistols. The pack on his back only carried a sleeping roll, a few toiletry items, his things to cook with, and a swiss army knife. It was hard trying to carry more than that since the machines took over. Those bad boys were ruthless hunters that could hunt a man endlessly. His hazel eyes scanning the area from his perch he tried looking for any of the telltales of these machines he could find.

***DM's Notes***
I'll be swinging by Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays to update all players with any DM essentials. Lurking encouraged and notes sent to me will be attempted to work into the game play. I will be using percentile dice generation to make a few choices, and what the percentages were will be added in parentheses after the descriptions. Without any further ado, we open our scene.

------------------------------------------------------------

The rolling hills of the county break into a small valley in which the town of Andurion is found. The town, named for the famous soldier Anduras who was born here 800 years ago that risked his very soul by flinging himself into the demon portal in order to seal it and protect his homelands. No demons have been spotted, reported, or even in childrens bad dreams since his heroic deed. The town is centered around a shrine of Anduras and within the shrine it is fabled his favorite lance is encased within. Just behind the shrine is the local magistrate's office, the board for wanted criminals, and the clock tower. To the east of the shrine is the merchant district where the clang or metal against the anvil rings loudly and peddlers are in the bazaar shouting their goods to passerby. To the west lies the housing for most of the inhabitants of the town. South of the clock tower is where the churches have been set up and the bells toll for services. To the north is the path into or out of the town which is dotted with a few farms and some small thickets of woods.

Subject: So, I need some thoughts on a treasure.

So I'm getting ready to send my players through an Archmage's tower. This is the 3rd to last major encounter they will face before the conclusion of the game, and would like some ideas on things they will be finding. I was thinking of two moderately powered (+3 or lower) items and one item the party can share the rewards from. Any ideas?

Dear thirsty,
If friends will not be used for killing, throw them through doorways. That way either they forced to fight, or turn into funny colors on wall.

Dear ogre,
I am trying to find a way to sneak into the town's tavern and steal both the cash box and the liquor stores, any ideas?

Well lads, I now look forward to Friday with this source material. I hope to do the DM of this a little justice with the amount of killing I intend to do of my players. They are currently level 10 and that means I get to add things that can kill them, how exciting!
