Subject: Nobody expects the Giles inquisition

Giles stumbled into the meeting looking even more tired and then he had left the night prior. Taking his seat that the table and staring blankly at the trolls message and then listening to Zeran talk (about being a second almond?).

"It's tempting just to just pay them off to buy us some time while we deal with this cult gubbins that said we do and we may be seen as weak... on the other hand were doing it in the best interest of the town... maybe use it to try and open negotiations with the trolls... not that they will be much for negotiating since we killed two of them already"

Giles sighed and rubbed his eyes muttering under his breath that it's too early for this shit

"Oh speaking of out little cultist problem my little ravens have set me on a lead that I'll be following up on once were done here possibly nothing but giving the circumstances we can't risk leaving any stone left unturned"

Subject: time to turn this into a detective noir

Giles yawned removing his friendly cursed cloak giving it a shake and a brush off while listening to sootscale deliver his report and introduction and sighed as he watched Zeran wander over and being to beat his head

"Really I'm really in no way surprised giving the information we gained from our last guest this is really nothing more than a step up from his attempts to derail this empire, but with no solid leads we cant really go on a witch hunt either we only know where one of those is after all and for the moment she seems.... friendly. This is troubling all the same and we should attempt to nip it in the bud. Sootscale Id like a full report on all the rumors floating about these days as well as an account of any new citizens to the town since we dealt with Grigori as soon as possible a copy for here and you may send one to my office"

With that Giles re-dawned the cloak and made his way toward the door pausing briefly by Clay

" I'm sure you'll have much to tell us after we all get some a bit of sleep and rest as well"

Giles waved his hand to the rest of the party and took his leave

Subject: its good to be back

Giles froze in the doorway, a wave of fear washing over him as he gripped the hilt of his sword more firmly now. His legs screamed at him to run out the door and onto the wagon and ride through the night as far away from here as he could, but his mind, or perhaps his pride told him to stay to turn and face the withered old crone with a confident face and to bury his fear for his own sake. With a reluctant and begrudging sigh, Giles removed the cloak, turned and slowly walked toward the krone and at a good length with his off hand presented it to her.

"Here you are"

He paused for a moment before pulling it back slightly from her reach and tightening the grip on his swords hilt once more.

"May I ask why you wish to see it"

Giles remained uneasy half paying attention to the conversation and the other paying attention to everything around him, it wasn't an easy task to unnerve a man who tread a life with demons and monsters but witches... bloody witches, as the conversation continued on Giles continues to slowly and carefully inch his way around the room closer back to the door from which they had come in and further from that damnable crow and always keeping on hand on his blade ready to draw it at a moments notice occasionally muttering under his breath

After dinner
The sleeping arrangements werent much to Zweis' liking being used to being able to sleep under the stars or at the inn when coin provided, Walthus' house was lacking in much space as well as privacy with a reluctant sigh Zwei found himself a nice corner at least mostly out of sight of the door and carefully wrapped the strap of his kama around his wrist so that should danger strike in the night he too would be ready to strike back like a scorpion.

Dead goblin

Once again being out in the light of day made Zwei more on edge then normal why had he agreed to this again he asked himself while fiddling with the coin in his pocket knowing full well that it wasn't his choice alone. The sudden noise from the swamp ahead would have made his pale skin turn a lighter shade for a moment if that were even possible before he quickly regained his composure drawing his bow and notching an arrow at the ready by his side as the party cautiously moved forward only to find the ravaged corpse of a goblin and tracks of a similar fashion to what they had found the day before, with a sigh Zwei re sheathed his bow and arrow and moved to the body, crouching down beside the goblin, grabbing its chin in his left hand and turning it side to side as if inspecting it for clues before unsheathing his kama and swiftly slicing off its ears and pocketing them

"Waste not want not as they always say"

Licktoad village

F: "One cannot hear any movement. One might not be close enough, or it might be ambush, or no longer has people. One and Zwei could try to find out before entry," Fox suggested, "One has learned how to be light on one's feet, and one suspects Zwei has as well."

Zwei smirked slightly and turned an eye to Fox

" A quick sweep..." Zwei was cut off my Nona's interjection

N: "The hell you two are ...There's hardly any cover in there. If there is an ambush, you two will be out in the open without backup."......."If you two do go in, at least Alexis and I should get as close to the gate as we can—and you should take Sera with you. She's small enough she can help you scout without giving you away, and she can get a message if you two get out of sight."

Again Zwei paused but this time for Alexis' interjection

A: "Fine, but if you see ANYTHING unusual report back immediately. Whatever caused." She motioned to the gate and then back the way they came from the goblin body. "Those, could be related. Goblins are noisy and stupid, the fact that we aren't hearing noise worries me." She motioned to the smoke from the fire before looking at the two sneakier types. "Be very careful, please. That smoke says signs of life or something else. Just don't do anything rash.....We'll give you time to slip in then creep up closer to the gate ourselves, you run into trouble give a shout and we'll come help."

Zwei glanced at the small bird then to Nona and back to Fox, thinking to himself do I look like an animal person?

" Alright, you and Alexis get within running distance of the gate, Fox, Sera and myself will scout around the perimeter of the village and see if we can find anyone or anything if we do Sera will alert you two and if we get in trouble you should be within ear shot to hear it and can storm in hopefully providing a bit of a distraction for the two of us to get into a better position"

Zwei looked down at the monster before him no one could see it under his scarf but a child like grin was stretched across his face and he began to twirl his Kama in his hand playfully

"tisk tisk tisk, you've gone and made my blade all dirty, heh"

[Alexis]
"Could you grab clean water and the rags for me? Or at least have one of these two do it." She motions to Zwei and Nona. "If they will get it that is."

Zwei looked to Nona " shes all yours kiddo"

With that Zwei stepped outside to clean off his blade and take a look around the house, it wasn't till a fair bit later that he returned into the door just as the rest of the party and Wathus had sat down to eat, he paused for a moment about to turn and leave but the slight rumble in his stomach protested otherwise and begrudgingly he joined the rest of the party at the table, immediately being conversed with.

[Alexis]
"I'd like to apologize for snapping at you like I did earlier. I'm used to dealing with drunks and such with back up. This is my first actual adventure and I'm a little on edge, don't want to have to return with bad news. You seem to be more versed in the adventuring arts so please, I'll happily accept any advice you can give if you're willing to share. I'd rather we put aside our little dispute and work as a team. What do you say?" She holds out her hand, the one that hadn't been cleaning or tossing monster heads around, out to Zwei hoping he accepted her apology.

Zwei raised an eyebrow at her gesture, before looking down at his food then glancing around the the rest of the party and back to her hand, with a slight amount of hesitation he took it only briefly giving it no more then a couple shakes before quickly withdrawing and removing his scarf so he could eat, showing for the first time to the group just how damaged his face was sporting several deep scars down the left side and across his mouth as well as a few less visible trailing down his neck his other wise pale cheek also showed signs of burns that had long since healed

" This is business, you don't need to apologize and you don't need to like me, like you said I'm just for the money not the companionship"

With that Zwei slowly began to eat his meal

Subject: DEATH AND MURDER FOR EVERYONE.... wait

Giles and the guards led Grigori into an area of the keep that had been made up into somewhat of a drawing room and sat him down at a table off to the side where a setting of tea and some biscuits had been set out as per the request of Giles as they entered the keep.

"You know I'll have to admit Grigori these weren't exactly the circumstances I had wish to sit and have a drink with you, but giving the recent events I suppose we will have to make due."

Giles took a sip of his tea and watched Grigori who say silently nursing his tea nervously and doing his best to look like the righteous martyr of the people he claimed to be, Giles set his cup down and sighed
"Look Grigori I'm trying to be nice here you can either cooperate or we will have to treat you more as a criminal as small a crime as it may be bending the will of the people is no laughing matter nor one you should look so lightly at"

Behind Grigori's demeanor, Giles could sense the man's uncertainty.

Grigori: "Your laws here are truly more draconian than I could ever have imagined, then, if a simple performer's trick is considered 'bending the will of the people'. You've put up a good show, but you have nothing on me. I know you have to release me soon, and so do you. You obviously have an agenda bringing me in here, so what is it that you want?"

Giles glares slightly at Grigori before rising to his feet and ushering over the guards and sending them out of the shutting the door behind them and returning to face Grigori
"Draconian laws, where I come from a man like you would be murdered in the streets and no one would blink an eye. Ill be frank since you insist on playing this game, you are here because we want to know what your end goal is, lets be honest your not here as a martyr to these people, and I'm willing to bet you've made more then your fair share of income from schemes like this, so what is it you want".

Grigori leaned forward with an intense expression. Looking Giles in the eye he says with emphasis,

Grigori: "Oathbreakers Die, do you understand what that means? If it comes out that I helped you in any way, no amount of threats from you are going to make my day any worse."

Grigori leaned back, now inspecting his cuffs as if looking for dust.

"Suffice to say, there are parties out there interested in seeing all this come crashing down down."

"And if were going to throw around these "laws" then dare I say to you sir Courts are for kings.... but that said, if you leave town no harm will come to you from my company should you stay I cannot promise your safty other then in a cell and we have ways of making the people believe you left of your own accord "

Grigori gulps audibly at the last words

Giles sighed, "if nothing else I can sympathize with being a caged rat."

Grigori: "I cannot just leave. My employer would know I was bought, and I haven't nearly enough money to maintain that charade." The portly man's eyes flit around the corners of the room, as if suspecting spies or eavesdropping magic at every joint. His next line is suddenly filled with all the usual gusto of his street rhetoric. "I will not abandon the people of this land! You may drive me into exile, but there will always be those who shall carry on the spirit of freedom!"

Giles smiled lightly
"Well more tea then till my friends arrive perhaps you can enlighten me as to the spell you used on the crowd eairler".

Giles shook his head and glared at Zeran

" Executing a man who for the past two weeks has been filling our citizens head with slander and lies will only make everything hes said seem more true and then we will have a problem on our hands, its actions like that which can doom men and kingdoms."

Giles began to pace a bit around the room rubbing his chin

"No the only way we will get out of this one is to play his game, while sootscale and his men gather information, it may be best for us to... invest in some fortifications for the city and campaign agents him as he has been us. Hes a clever man and no doubt attempting to ruin men is how hes made his money. With any luck we can dig up some dirt on him, or I might be able to pry something out of him myself, since Ill be having a drink with him one of these nights, you'd be surprised how far a touch of hospitality and some strong alcohol can get you."

Giles stopped pacing a Cheshire smile growing on his face

"Of course, should all... politically correct means fail there are... more direct options as you have suggested... mind you should we have to resort to him, perhaps at least I can insure that "Grigori" leaves the city of his own free will"

Subject: Ive never been good at speeches

Giles sighed and stepped from the wagon walking to the crowd trying to roughly fix his hair and damaged blood stained uniform as his did not saying a word until he took a place beside Kyrie and Grigori.

" I've never been good at speeches... but I respect this man, no for what he says but that he has the courage to say it, it takes great courage to stand up and speak before a crowd but it also takes great courage to sit and listen, now I may not have been here in the past few weeks to hear every word he has said as some of you have but I have heard some and I respect that which he has said. He is right we have mistakes and at times we have faltered and let some of you down there is nothing we can do the bring back those we've lost, but just like us and all of you, they knew the risks and the dangers of coming to this brave new world. This man claims that in our ventures into this land we have been wasting time but had we not gone out had we not our roads may still be plagued by Kobold assaults, bandits and all matter of creature, we go out because we do not see ourselves as above you that would would send you the people who helped up build this budding empire out to do all the work that when facing danger we would rather have necks cut open to bleed out then risk the lives of our people. He questions what we doing in the last three weeks, and I have wagon full of answers, relics, treasure... and I body with freshly torn scars to show you what we've been doing and why we do it, it is with our, all of our continuous efforts, not our strength or intelligence alone that is the key to unlocking this kingdoms true potential. Your leaders have faith and trust in the people, faith that we can fail true success comes from failure, we cannot grow as leaders, unless we are allow to makes mistakes and learn from them."

Giles paused for a moment to look over the people and to collect himself once more.

" We have always tried to look ahead to the future to protect our people but it is difficult to look further then you can see, this man condemns us for allowing you people the right to live without yours hands being held, condemns us for not watching your every move for not allowing you to live your lives as you see fit, we have faith in you people to be able to stand upon your own two feet and protect what you have fought to help build.... we are all mortal, and one day neither us or you will be here to protect your children and there children, we are only mortal and cannot see so far ahead to protect everyone at this very moment anything could happen, the walls could be breached, a monster could rise and strike at us all, the fact are here does not protect you, the fact this man is here, will not save you. This land was founded because we dared to venture out into the wilderness, the darkness and face the unknown, and now all of you are a light in that darkness that evils will seek to extinguish, we as your leaders can only do so much to protect you from it. So condemn our actions if you will but it my belief not as your leader, not as your superior but as a soldier as someone who has come close to death fighting for this land and all of you within it, that we should therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that if the kingdom of Volga and its outlying lands last for a thousand years, men will still say, this was our finest hour, if we as a people can stand up to this land, the life of the kingdom may move forward, into the broad sunlit uplands and beyond."

Giles cleared his throat and stepped beside Kyrie. He shot her a glare as if to insinuate she should be so rash and quick to jump but none the less he then turned his gaze to the Dryad.

"What my cohort, of course means to say is that we would be more then happy to help you with your concerns. Allow me to make a more formal introduction. My name is Giles, my companions Zeran, Miguel, Frodrick and Kyrie respectively (motioning to each as announced) make up the Barony of Volga. It is to say we did not come here without purpose, we are charting these lands and aside from stopping here on our cartographic journys we are also in search of some lost Elvish ruins or perhaps anything else of intrest. The assistance of yourself or that of your... lover, in these matters would be greatly appreciated."

** The dryad inclined her head in a gesture of recognition. "Well met, Giles. I am Tiressia, and this grove is my home. While I cannot leave my tree, I have eyes and ears all over this area of the forest. I believe I know of such a structure, built many thousands of years ago by Elves. Perhaps we can come to an arrangement. I can see what I can discover through my network while you and your friends destroy the monster that plagues me. Is this acceptable to you? Of course, you will be well rewarded for performing this service for me."***

Giles bowed slightly never removing his gaze from the Dryad

"More then acceptable I feel, Lady Tiressia. Now if there is nothing else (Giles looked back to the party) I believe we shall be off too... do some gardening "

Giles brushed some of the water off himself and fixed his hair before intoducing himself and bowing before Jubilost.

" I am Lord Giles Alexandria Nox of Volga and pending any intervention of the rest of my party would like to gratiously accept your invitation"

Giles looked back at the rest of the party to see if any outright arguments rose seeing none he bagan helping with camp preperations. Once most of the prep was made and both parties sat down to sup Giles took up a space beside Jubilost whom was busy fiddling with his maps. Giles took this chance to start a conversation all the while trying to take a peak at the map to try and figure out what paths Jubilosts party had taken.

"So tell me Jubilost you mentioned eairler that your party had been attacked by Kobolds"

Jub: " Yes I dare say the vicious blighters caught us with our pants down while we were trying to set up camp, we gave them what for but not before our camp recived a thomping and our ponies were startled off into the drink."

"Could you describe them, and where they went after they attacked you?"

Jeb: " Nasty black scaled creatures Im afraid I dont remember much past that but after the tumping they took they fled west along the river heading upstream, though I wouldnt hold it past them to be out there watching waiting for their next chance to strike at us."

There chatting continued all the while Jubilost organizing his maps evedentally noting Giles intrest

Jub: "I see your intested in my maps yes they are my pride and joy, here I'll allow you a better look"

At this Jubilost shows Giles some of the maps in more detail, though not long enough to memorize every detail Giles does take note of certian things the Gnomes have explored in a fair bit of detail the southern half of the green belt, a tower in the middle of lake Candlemere, a river crossing in the west, and a spot on the east bank of the Tuskwater marked only 'swanp witch'.

Jub: "You see we're here in search of a lost ancient dwarven outpost said to be here somewhere in the Greenbelt"

"Lost Dwarven outpost, do tell me more"

Jub: " Well my boy its old and its lost, I've spent a good bit of time tracking down rumors and it is my professional arhaelolgical opinion that it must lie somewhere in or between the Narlmarches and the Kamelands. It used to lie along a forgotten trade route, The tales say that the outpost is crafted such that it blends perfectly with the surrounding terrain, thus we havnt had much luck, yet, but I know my intuition is good and it must be in this region. You see I have a theory that if you draw a like from the Five Kings Mountians up the Sellen River through Brevoy it crosses directly through this region."

Jub continued his talk and though Giles didnt share his zeal for archeology listened intently should there be anything useful and as to not offend the Gnome.

"I must say Jubilost, I would very much like to take a closer look at those maps again we went through them so fast I didnt get a chance to admire your expidationary expertiese, perhaps I can offer you to see ours as well since you did give me a glimps of yours"

Jub recoils and clutches his maps as if there mear thought of letting someone else handle them to fully exam them were unthinkable though relaxed and opened to the thought of trading informations

Jub: "Well two sets out eyes are better then one and Id be more then happy to trade for any information I dont have"

((ooc this is where im cutting it there are some dip rolls that will be made to allow us to buy his maps and such that will all be detailed in GM's next post))

Giles recoiled and the arrow hit into him, it had been awhile since he had taken a proper hit and the resulting force winded and made him faulter briefly before steadying himself and regaining his composiour.

“Huh?” The Stag Lord slurred. “Yer not human.” It was almost as much a blunt statement of fact as it was a question.

Giles smirked and moved it attacking in procession with the others, a few hits later and the Stag Lord looked more worse for wear, Giles moved in and thrust his sword deep into the Stag Lords gut and running him through, with a smirk he looked into the dying mans eyes and whispered under his breath

"You're right, Im better"

Giles took a step back and removed his blade dripping with deep crimson blood and watched as the man feel to the ground far beyond dead, Giles didn't hesitate he droped down letting his sword fall to the ground beside him and nearly riped off the stag hood to be greeted by a makeshift leather mask benith, the hood gave off a slight magic aura, possibly how he was able to land such decisive blows with his bow, Giles ran his hand over the bone and fur studying it further, maybe linked to Erasti given the stag like nature but he couldnt tell for sure Jhod would know more he was sure. Peeling off the leather mask Giles got the the first good look at the man beneath, a vile beast of a man a monster in his own right.

"No wonder you wore a mask heh"

Giles stood up somewhat shakly still not fully recovered from the blow he took, sheathed his sword and stumbled out of the room and back to the common area where he collapsed in a chair and proceeded to pull the arrow out from his chest.

Giles' turn at watch his favorite time. The peace, quiet, and a chance to meditate and prepare himself for the coming day. It was during his watch, just shortly after midnight, when he heard the faint rustling of movement. He cracked his eye slightly so as not to alert whomever it would be.

What he saw didnt suprise him. The bandit woman they had captive was slowly slinking away. She wasnt moving fast, probably in hopes not to alert Giles or any of his sleeping comrads. No doubt she thought he wasn't paying attention and was trying to take advantage of the fact.

With a soft sigh, Giles continued his meditation knowing full well that with his enhanced vision and unimpeeded movement he would easily be able to catch the girl. He waited till she was a bit away from the party before silently getting up and following her, making note to follow in her path to disturb as little new rough as possible.

It was odd that she was headed south when the supposed Stag Fort was to the north. Answers had to be gotten, and who better to do it? A smirk crossed Giles face and once he and followed the girl outside of listening distance of the party, he struck.

Moving in quickly, Giles lept upon the girl, flipping her over to face him. He stradled her to prevent her movement before giving her a swift, firm punch to the face, covering her mouth to prevent her screaming being heard by the group. A look of suprise came over her face.

"Now lass, did you really think you could get away that easy? Tsk, tsk, tsk." Giles wagged a finger with his free hand in disapproval.
"Now tell me where you were going or I'll drag you back to the others and see what they think of your little walk. Be honest, or I'll have to beat you more, and I won't be so nice so nice the second time."

The bandit woman grinned, despite the pain. She seemed almost impressed. "You're more hands-on than your friends, I'll give you that." She shifted slightly under Giles' weight as if to get comfortable. "You're going to have to do better than that, though, if you want anything from me. I ain't been punched that tenderly since the day I was born."

Giles sighed and cracked his knuckles. "You picked the wrong person to try and escape on." He leaned in closer, whispering, "you see, I'm not afraid to make your life a living hell. All it would take is one swift slice and all your body would fall limp. You wouldnt be dead, but you'd never walk, never move, and never feel anything again. Unlike the rest of my party who believe in reform for your kind, as they have with the previous bunch, I'm willing to kill you. If not, your friend would have come back with us. Instead he had his neck snapped when I shot him from a tree. Now your going to tell me why you're headed south, when your the bridge crossing to your lord lies in the north. If I like what I hear, I'll either end your suffering right here, or maybe if you're very good I'll let you go."
(Bluff check prerolled as per GM discretion)

Giles knew he had her at 'let you go'. Everything else from here one was just angling.

"I guess you're not that thick. The Stag Lord would have loved you. All right. The bridge to the north is rotted and old. To the south of here just upriver from where the Thorn and the Shrike meet there is a wide river ford that we use to come and go, now untie me and you'll never see me again. I've gotta run--when the Stag Lord kills you, he won't be happy. I'd better not still be in the area by then."

Giles patted the girl on the cheek.

"Who's to say he still won't," Giles smirked as he started to get up, seeming to leave before turning on the woman again with a hard punch and a crack. She was out like a light once more.
"That is for saying my first one was weak, wretch."

With that Giles stood up and began to drag the girl back to the camp laying her again where she once was removing her cloak and a few other bits from her outfit and studying her face and body more closely before moving to wake the next person for their watch and laying the the items beside himself resuming his relaxed state.

.... “—Nevertheless, if you're having second thoughts, you're free to head back to town.” Nona ignored her familiar with a pointed glance at the offending bird. “That said, I'll let you in on a secret: the more noise Alexis makes, the less likely it is you or I will get mauled by a swamp-bear or something. Anything that isn't scared off when it sees her coming is going to try to bite her first. Say what you want about her, but she's terribly good at that kind of thing.”

Zwei signed heavily

"In my line of work I don't have time for long lasting relationships, and money has never been an issue for me before I obviously live and sustain myself with my normal work, besides the fact I probably have a good 10 years on most of you three dear Nona, I suppose Ill have to remember in future Im not here alone"

.......Her face hardened again and she pursed her lips. "I'm not saying for every situation, but for ones like this were whatever obstacle we face isn't proving itself hostile let's not try and stab it or shoot it or fry it or whatever."

Zwei let Alexis finish before straightening his shirt and scarf

"Firstly I would like to apologise your right I should have deferred to the wisdom of the group before firing my shot, you'll have to forgive the fact I'm used to working alone and in different circumstances, second I would hope a child raised as you were would have more respect for her elders and I didn't see you asking for my approval either before YOU MADE ENOUGH BLOODY NOISE TO WAKE THE DEAD"

Zwei cleared his throat again taking a deep breath at this point eyes burning yellow with rage

" I understand your armoured and are here to take the brunt of our fight should we face any but I would rather have to stay far away my hope was... no you wont listen to that you know what I think I think your have an inferiority complex and need to prove yourself a hero at every chance you get you build yourself up with armour and take on rolls most would consider male dominated. When and if the time comes that you should be being ravaged by a wild beast bent on taking your life your right I will stab it but not for you sake but because its what has to be done and its what I do best. Were not so unalike you and I abandoned, tortured but your not the one that has had to hide in the shadows most of their life so you'll forgive me that I expect the same respect as you"

With that Zwei took a deep breath clenching and relaxing his fists before motioning to Nona and Fox

"Now that we've had our childish rants let us continue on our merry little adventure yes?"

Giles waited to see if anyone would take the cold steel sword and when no one did took it up himself examining the blade and its sheen before placing it into a frog on his belt along with his other sword.

"Well now that that fun little adventure is over I say we continue on across the river and explore the lands over there as well as the fairies treasure spot before we head back to olegs to claim our prize for our newest dead pets though Im open to anyone's else's suggestions"

Zwei's eyed up the snake if this had been any normal outing namely one at night and alone he would have simply snuck around the creature or got close enough to ensure a strike but as it was a not night and b he was with a party he decided the best course of action was to lob an arrow in its general direction his thought of Couse that the arrow would either strike the creature wounding it or causing it to flee or that the arrow hitting near it would frighten it off.

He lifted his bow and lined up the shot and let the arrow fly it would have been a spot on shot had it not been for the snakes reflex's and the arrow hit the bridge with a mighty thunk Zwei let out a soft sigh as the arrow had neither of its intended effect.

“Ah, why hadn't I thought of that?” Nona mused aloud. “Simple. Direct. Makes a bold statement. Though perhaps 'please' may be the appropriate incantation for dealing with stray basking reptiles?”......

"Oh for crying out loud. Can we please not attack everything we see if it isn't trying to murder us? The snake was perfectly fine and would have probably pissed off if we had made enough noise or it got bored." She sighed a bit rubbing her forehead with her thumb and pointer finger.......

Zwei grimaced as the girls seemed to mock him suppressing the temptation to let another arrow fly into the back of Alexis' head as she strode up to the snake making enough noise to wake the dead, he let his bow rest and turned slightly to Nona

"If this is going to be become habit of my action being so patronised then perhaps I should begin wonder why I joined your venture, out here in this light am I somewhat out of my element and at least my way of trying to scare the creature away was quiet. Your friend is making so much noise I hope she doesn't attract anything worse that snake"

The thylacine was surprisingly light for its size and attitude. Stefan set the creature on its back, its legs tied up in a bundle over top. “Uh.” He looked around. “What should I do?” They needed the rope back to drop to Kyrie, but releasing the creature in its current state seemed unwise.

Giles stepped forward and drew his sword

"Well there is only one thing to do with the beast, we take it a bit into the forest and let it go not that it will be easy so ill need help doing it"

Giles removed his cloak and passed it over the thylacines head and picked up the rope

"If anyone has an objection to this they will have to go through me."

“Zwei, these are the girls. The big one is Alexis. Her skills include hitting stuff and wearing armour for clothing. The diminutive waif beside her is Fox, with whom you shall be competing for status of most inscrutable member of the group.”

Alexis gave a brisk two finger salute to the man from her seat. "Greetings, so you'll be joining us? Sounds fair strength in numbers they say. As for my skills and clothing choice Nona is a bit off. I'm an apprentice blacksmith and part of the militia. I've had the honor of getting some training with the Pathfinders as well, I prefer my armor for a variety of reasons but we'll leave it as 'my uniform' for the moment." She laughed a bit and gave Nona a cheeky grin before letting Fox introduce herself.

Fox gave a sly grin at Nona, "Diminutive? Isn't that a bit of an exaggeration? I'm just a bit on the smaller side for a woman." she chuckled, "Well, okay, maybe five foot is closer to the edge of the scale than normal." She admitted, before turning her attention to Zwei, "One certainly recalls your face. We've shared the bar a few times, but never really the same place." She looked around at the assembled group and gave a smile, "It will be interesting to see your work firsthand." she noted, with playfulness in her voice

Zwei saluted back perhaps somewhat mockingly of the militaristic style but with no intent to insult the girl and nodded to the dancer dwarfing her with his 6 foot tall stature

" In my normal line of work I've always found numbers to be a disadvatage, so lets hope your right, I have every intent to return from this little camping trip with all my life lines still well intact, Im told my face isnt hard to recal or atleast my apperance most people whom have seen my face run in to complaication realling it, and you'll forgive me for the second but I try to avoid sharing space as much as possible... force of habbit I suppose"

“I notice not all of us present are fully prepared to set out right this moment. In the interest of making efficient use of the remaining hours of daylight, I suggest those of use who are already prepared to leave can attempt some form of reconnaissance while those of us who are not—namely myself, can acquire the necessary provisions. I propose we meet back here in an hour.”

She gave the dancer a wink before turning to Zwei and nodding curtly. "You look like you can handle yourself in a fight, pleasure to meet you Zwei you ever need your gear tended to just bring it by The Red Dog Smithy and I'll see what I can do." She smiled friendly enough and took off at a brisk jog back home.

Zwei nodded back politely and watched the girl jog off before pulling his own bag off his back and checking its contents and returning it to its position and then taking her place at the bar and contemplating what he'd gotten himself into. Over the next hour Zwei sat and waited in quiet contemplative meditation state to prepair himself for the comming events.

It had been a long rather boring day nothing of true note aside from the rumours and whispers that filled the air, Zwei stood in the shadows by the side of the road near water street gazing out to the sea, watching the passers by and letting out the occasional yawn, his bright violet hair bordering all that could be seen of his face, his almost florescent pupilless eyes. With a great sigh he began westward down the street ignoring the few stares he recived he had been long enough in sandport now that most people were accustom to his ashen skin and somwhat haggard look. It was upon entering the market he took note of one of the wanted posters, having seen the before several times but paying them no nevermind, but for his want of something do to he strode over and gave it a read.

"10 gold for ears, heh I suppose business has been slow lately, better ask the wife"

With the he pulled a small bag of coins from a hidden pocket in this scarf near his face and dug out of the the coins flipping it into the air.The glittering coin spun and fliped several times before falling down onto the back of a ashen skin, clothed hand before being tucked back into a pouch and retuned to a pokect in a ragged scarf. Zwei ripped the poster from its place on the wall and continued through the market and finally to his desination, The Rusty Dragon. Zwei was no stranger here and would often come in buy his drink rent a room and hire himself out like many of the other adventures.

Entering the bar he saw he usual suspects here and there other men and women he had had the pleasure or displeasure of doing business with, as well and the familiar dancer on stage a young lady he had never bothered to really catch the name of in his various trips. He made his way to the bar and sat down taking the closest seat to the door laying the wanted poster down and placeing 10 gold coins ontop of it enough for a few shots of his Absinthe with some extra as usual. He waited for Ameiko to come over and as she went to take the coins he put his hand over them.

"My usual, and any information you have on this"

He tapped the wanted poster with his free had before returning to his relaxed positon and allowing her to take the coin.

----------------------------------------------------------------

"Nona!"

The scream was loud enough to raise the dead and Zwei watched and the armour clad lass ran over and crushed one of the other girls further down the bar he scoffed slightly taking another sip of his drink before averting his gaze as it seemed to draw attention.

“We don't see many kayal around Sandpoint. My name is Nona Kingsley. May I presume to learn yours?”

"Chances are you already know my name little bird most people do around here"

Zwei finished his drink and returned his scarf to its normal position before turning to face the girl

"Zwei at your service"

“I couldn't help but notice you're dressed for adventure. As it so happens, my friends over there are putting together a venture into Brinestump Marsh. In the interest of rounding out our numbers and perhaps finding yourself with the means to acquire some form of employment, I don't suppose I could convince you to join us?”
Zwei looked the girl up and down then down the bar to her friends

" You lot are going on an adventure, I suppose I have nothing better to do you may introduce me to your friends"

Zwei stood up cracking his neck and streaching himself out allowing Nona to lead the way

Giles sighed and looked at Miguel

"I dont tend to recant my tales to often, I dont care for the attention it grabs and had we not been threatened by that pile of weeds I would have taken the normal steps to avoid having my hair come into question and Ill leave it at that. You are a bard, so why are you out here, out in this uncivilized hell, why not go to a city sing peoples troubles away, settle down with a nice girl or boy whatever floats your boat. Why risk it all."

------------------------------------------------------------

"Haha"!

Giles brushed himself off cleaning some of the blood on his legs away

"Listen kid if I needed to rest after every little scratch I got I would never had made it through the first day of training, Ill be perfectly fine and we can keep moving on my account, beside the sooner we get this hog back the better maybe we can even have a bit of a feast"

Giles had just settled in, and gotten semi comfortable for being in a cave

"Lovely moon." He smiled innocently for a moment, then added. "By the way, I like the hair."

Giles opened an eye and looked at Miguel up and down

" Look kid I don't swing that way I appreciate the offer...as for my hair if you are actually interested, call it a gift from... my extended family heh"

Giles splashed his blade in the water to clean off the remnants of slime and vegetation from the creature before returning his blade to its sheath.

"I say we bring part of it back as a trophy, any objections?"

Glies drew his attention up to Zeran and let a slight chuckles escape his lips.

" You really want to drag around a hung of rotting vegetation just to prove we killed something, a trophy to hang on our walls when and if we ever manage to build them. By all means be my guest but in my opinion it would be a waste of space better filled by supplies and such we may find. "

Giles returned up to the cave retrieving his crossbow and inspecting it for damage before stowing it on his back again.

"You folk do what you will with the beast, I'm going to try and gain some rest before we set out again I bid you all goodnight"

With that Giles returned to the darkness of the cave his hair turning back to its natural shade of black upon leaving the light of the moon

All the way back to Olegs Giles had remained silent in contemplations, he had a plan in his head aside from conversing more with Jhod about the temple at some point but to discover more about the dead man. Back at Olegs Giles hung back outside only to enter a few moments later having used his magic's to alter his form to that of the fallen trapper taking some liberties to make him look less dead, he walked slowly to the tables trying to keep a somewhat low profile before being abruptly grabbed on the shoulder and spun around to be face to face with one of the trappers whom had been sitting to the side.

“Breeg, you filthy lying cur, you still owe me, and don't you think I've forgotten just because you've been hidin' your slimy craven arse away fer two month! I oughta take my payment outta yer hide!”

Giles hesitated for a moment not knowing how "Breeg" sounded or indeed what money was owed before speaking in a rough and horse voice

"An wut is it I owe ya money for!?"

He snapped pushing the man away slightly and staring him down definatly

“Does anyone understand what in the nine hells happened here? What happened to the bear skin? Why did it turn into a man? Who was he? And is this pool one big healing potion?”

After a time, Frodrick pointed to the cave. “Do ye think there might be anything of value in there? I know this be a temple and it wouldn’t be too good to go looting from Ol’ One Eye, but it be abandoned. We also might be needin’ anything of use in these parts. Anyone against searchin’ the innards of this place?”

------------------------------------------------------------

Giles rose from his seat on the step with a small sigh walking down to stand a few feet from the dwarf to address him and pointing his still glowing sword back at the cave.

"Erastil's followers are a simple bunch I doubt even in its glory that this temple held much, but after being inside it I can assure you its nothing more then the dwelling of a bear with the words "they have won" etched into the wall by human hand, I couldn't tell you what it means, in terms of what has happened here, we have laid a long possibly cursed soul to rest and the body was returned to ash as it once came who he was we never know but from what I glanced and could guess of his age, he's been here a lifetime or more. As for the pool and its healing properties"

Giles moved from the dwarf to the water and knelt down near it and after speaking a few words and waving a faintly glowing hand over it (cast detect magic) he stood once more.

"The pools enchanted more then likely given the effect we've seen to be one of a curative nature, though that's hard to see I suppose, theoretically I suppose it would have something to do with the temple and god of worship but without a more solid knowledge of the area its a mere shot in the dark so to speak, the water is essentially a healing elixir though I have to wonder"

Taking his sword Giles makes a slit in his hand (-1 slash dmg )enough to draw blood then cupping some water and waiting a moment he drinks, to no effect on the wound, then crouching down lowly and sipping directly from the pond the wound heals over ( +1 heal)

" As I expected the spells effects are localized at the source, take it away and it useless all be it refreshing water"

Subject: The maddness of an unending mystery

The fight had ended just as quickly as it began, Giles stood motionless for a moment his mind trying to wrap itself around the events that had just taken place, he could gleam from the mans assumed age the brief glance he got before turning to dust that he had lived a full life if not longer, it would depend on the spell, a curse perhaps? Giles shook his head clean and began into the opening of the temple stroking his blade as he marched up the stairs like a man possessed causing it to glow in unearthly brightness.

The inside, as he could have guessed was sparse and now looked more like the den of the bear that inhabited it then the temple it would have once been, perhaps erected by earlier travelers trying to settle the area, its age was to him unknown though he could take a shot in the dark, the only thing of note he could gleam were scratched words on the wall upon closer inspection it wasn't hard to tell there were made by man not beast and read only "they have won". They have won Giles muttered to himself trying to wrack his brain as to what it could have meant, was this man cursed to live here as a bear or could he have done the magic's himself in hopes to protect this place and over so long become of the beast then the man, so many unanswered questions it was madding to the point that he could scream but was able to calm himself, perhaps he could gleam answers from Oleg or the Old Priest he had spoken to while waiting for the parties return, perhaps one of them could shed light on to what those hollowed words could mean.

Leaving now the den and returning to the party, with only his mysteries and no answers he surveyed the temple once more before taking a seat on its steps.

"Well, I can already tell traveling with you folk is going to be a barrel of fun"
