Topic: Slate: The Hundred Years of Rain
Subject: Geoff of Broyhill

one of the travelers, a young man of late teens - if more then just barely, slept in his chain shirt and coif. The tip of his sword was visible beneath his shield that lay across him like a blaket. he sit up and takes off the coif, wiggles his fingers and any road grime falls off him and gathers in a pile near the wall. another wiggle and waggle of his fingers and like a breath of cool fresh air his smell of travel leaves him as easily

[cast prestidigitation to clean and freshen himself]

As people introduce them selves he waits for a moment of pause and interjects, "I am Geoff of Broyhill, a village near the mountains southeast of Lake City. I was at the monastery when I heard the request for help."

Having said his piece he proceedes to take his shield and with whispering words and wiggly fingers he paints a dragon within a circle on a white background. the dragon's wings are outstretched and the wings and head are touching the circle. the taloned claws each hold a rose in one and sword in the other, the stem of the rose and the hilt of the rose touching the lower arc of the circle.

At first you see the head facing in the direction of the rose, but with a wave of his hand the head turns, and when facing strait it blinks then full faces toward the sword.

"I am ready."

I advise going over the character with a fine tooth comb.

I am thinking my character is in the monastery doing menial work in exchange for room an board. He would hear of the call and answer immediately. is that ok to start?

As mentioned, I was just brainstorming, so the water thing was just an idea. perhaps the water came from deep in the ground . . .*shrug*

A note on soil: I have academic knowledge on soil composition and for the record, clay is one thing, silt is another.

I can see clay being rather valuable as that would be a major building material due to the scarcity of wood.

Subject: network of villages

I was thinking that the availability of rescorces such as arile land, might have nesciated it.

just brainstorming here .. .

Perhaps one is near a cave system where edible fungi are, another near a very small spring with blind fish untouched by the world blight . . .

The clergy travel from village to village, sort of like the Methodist preachers did in 17th to 19th centuries. The would tend to the individual needs of the villagers.

The "Wolf pack", or the 'previous adventuring party' if you will, of Geoff consisted of the best of the best of all of the villages who banded together for their mutual defense, and the clergy gave their blessing.

Ok, the brain storm has now blown itself out. calm thought skies now.

I have a question that may lead to more questions. are the chat rooms and ICQ type of chat? I have concerns due to an injury to my left arm that makes my typing slow and often needing corrections. I also have the need to stand and walk about for other injuries.

Backstory:
born in a community, that was a network of communities, he was chosen for his skills and willingness to learn. His desire to defend his neighbor was seen as exemplary and notable. He and several of his fellows of similar age would band together and defend when and where they could, until they, the whole band were ambushed by bandit.

He and his band defeated the bandits at great cost - he was the lone survivor. turning over the weapons to the network of villages with the instruction of training more defenders, he left in self imposed exile and shame. Now he has found others that do not know what he had been through, and so his journey begins.

**Note on Sword: Broy's heart
'Broy' was the name of a defender against marauding bandits that harassed a village early in the start of the taint on the land, the village being near some hills he used that to his advantage. After Broy and the town's defenders finally defeated the bandits well enough to send them away licking their woulds, the town, whose name is now lost in the memory of the present generation, was renamed after their hero, Broy, now Broyhill. The band of defenders was named for him as well, Broy's wolves.

His sword, shield and armor were preserved and passed on to the next worthy defender, Broy's heart is the collective name for the whole set. After Geoff's wolf pack defeated and was defeated by the bandits, Geoff was honored aas the sole survivor, though he tried to turn away the honor. The tows Clergy insisted, even knowing he was preparing to instill himself in exile. It was their way of planting a seed of healing for the loss of his boy hood friends. He promised them that he would return to defend them if it was the will of the gods.

It is worth noting that there is still another piece to the set that remains missing, A Kukry. It was lost 2 possessor's back during a vicious battle that was almost lost. She lost it when a steel chain was used to rip it from her grasp to disarm her. The whereabouts of this weapon, "Broy's curse" is to this day unknown . . . .

Subject: Hi, is this d and d addics anonamous?

Hi, I was recently invited, as in just today, to be added to this band of sole survivers.

I see we have the following:

healer

2 rangers

fighter - I am curious as what type: 2 weapon, sword and shield, single hand, 2 handed weapon . .

sorcerer

and I saw a gnome rogue

I was thinking a fighter wizard aiming for eldrich knight with the free hand weapon style in mind.

Are we using archetypes from the ACP?

there is the freehand fighter archetype from the d20 pf srd

as a short intro, I am known as Scott DeWar on EnWorld where i am somewhat known by a few folk.

I am new on these threads, but a cranky old gamer otherwise, and I am looking for a game in the following order of preference:

Pathfinder
3.5
2.0 or players options
1.0

Do take note that there is no interest in later editions or other systems.

Thank you in advance.
