Subject: Birthdays

There's some vague memory creepin around in the back of my head about the calandars. I remember it was a problem for the ship captains when they were still trying to make it down the west coast of Africa, so I guess the 1400s.

No one had an official calendar set up that everyone across Europe used. Some people stayed with the early Roman calander, some with the Jewish calander and I think the Catholic Church had its own seperate one too but I'm not sure on that.

Anyways, when people finally decided they needed one calander for everyone to follow, they basically squished and slopped everything together. As you can guess,, it wasn't a perfect fit and dates were misconstrued and mangled. It's why historians weren't sure for a long ime when George Washington was actually born... in fact I don't know if they've figured it out yet.

So to answer yer question, I guess it's best to say, no one really knows when He was born because no one really cared about specific dates back then.. at all... unless it was a Jewish holiday..

Don't quote me on any of this! Remember I said vague memory!

And for goodness sakes, get off yer bum and go find ye a good singer, and as soon as finals are over go give those drums a good smack or two. Always a pleasure Deathy... (and sorry bout Chief! Didn't see you there! *Laughs*)

I loved em! If you ever get actually music behind some of those lyrics, I’ll come over there and pile a whole fire ant colony in your bed if you don’t let me hear it! Especially this last one, I’ve picked it as my favorite.

Fondue Mafia extravanganza??? That's awesome! *Laughs* Now if only I were Italian I would have an excuse... But I DO have relatives and there's got to be a hotel out here somewhere with a nice cold swimming pool... that could work.. *Shifty eyes* Thanks Pope!

I used to run outside and scoop some snow up to heat it over the stove and dump waayyy too much chocolate in it.. *Smiles* Brings back good memories..

I don't really have many traditions for the holidays... Usually I'm stuck shoveling snow up to my waist and cutting up trees that have fallen across the driveway and wrestling with numbed fingers and snow chains... yay! Other than that I suppose our method of measuring the depth of snow is tradition.... we take our small dog and drop her in soft powder snow and see how far she sinks... Don't worry! We pull her out right away and set her in front of a cozy fire, she's spoiled to pieces... The iceical fights are always a joy though... Engard!

Favorite cheese'd have to be pepperjack or swiss but only because I can never remember the name of this irish soft cheese made with a red wine... very nice. My family heritage is centered as the rulers in Munster, Ireland for a time though, so I really should be claiming munster cheese as my favorite so I don't betray some long standing tradition! Oh well!

Who I'd switch places with... hmm... I'd have to say my Love. Maybe for an egotistical whim to see myself in another's view (the most important person's view) but mostly because I live a fairly relaxed life for the moment and I'd like to give my Love a chance to have a nice and relaxing day for once. *Smiles*

Old stuff is still stuff! Ye don't think they don't write down new copies of older poems just because somebody might have already read em, do ye? *Smiles* Of course not! Especially since we've got new poeple coming to the inn all the time, I bet they'd like to read some good stuffs... Go for it, please.
