Leave it all to the lil' droid...

Finishing the configuration scripts would have to wait; it would seem Kate is needed. Oh well, it'd be much easier to practise aboard the ship on her own time in her own room. Rolling over to the computer interface port, an arm with a similar port extends forth from one of Kate's frontal compartments, extending into the port and beginning to rotate, the light to the side of the port turning on to show Kate's operation as working.

Well, it wasn't as though she wasn't prepared for this; she was running a couple of simulation programs in the background even as she was configuring her vocabulator, and there were a few viable options. Now to see just which one she would use... opening a simple door? Oh, Kate would do that, but she'd try out an idea first...

(Sending PM regarding exactly what Kate is intending to do)

The Humane and her backfiring plan

Kate trundles over to the port, an odd shaped one used only by KTI, thankfully Kate is a KTI droid. She expertly maneuvers around the public files on the system and finds a suitable one, it causes a mass evacuation of the complex/building of all sentients. It's called emergency protocol 21.

A loud siren sounds right round the building causing the start of the evacuation, it should take around 5 minutes Kate estimates, unfortunately she has no way to communicate this to her team mates. The two guards give up their conversation as they declare that they should help with the evacuation and leave the control room across the hanger through the automatic door next to the part bays, they are both human as thought, the first is built very robustly and has shaved his hair off, the second is shorter but slimmer and has a blaster pistol in his belt and is twirling a hold-out blaster in his index finger.

Making a Run for it

Lelain jumped a little as the alarms started to go off, then rolled one eye over to where their droid stood with her arm attached to the wall and a little smile crept up on her lips. The eye staring at the droid winked, while the other eye fixed on Quilia to her other side, she gave the girl a long look, but said nothing to what she had said about taking the guards with them, either she didn’t hear the girl, or she decided it no longer mattered.

From her hiding spot she watched the two guards leave, and thanked the powers that be that she didn’t have to shot them. She stood there for a minute, silent as usual. When she could no longer see anyone moving about the hanger and the sounds of those exiting had faded further away she tucked the blaster close to her chest, double checked to make sure it was set for stun and then pushed the door open with her free hand. Pausing slightly she listened and looked to see if that caused any attention.

If no one seems to notice the door she turns to Quilia and whispers again, “Cover me…” before ducking out into the hanger, her heart pounding so loud in her chest that it is unlikely that would hear any oncoming threats, and makes a mad dash toward the plane they intend to hijack.

Encouragement

"Go on! I'll open the hangar door when you're ready." Kate vocalizes in Sullustese.

Yes, it is a simple thing to hear, but in truth far more difficult than it sounds. In actuality, Kate is taking this opportunity to test her circuitry regarding the vocabulator, as well as the configuration settings she has devised. To her, it is adequate, but in reality it is more than enough to pass as a female organic's voice, complete with a tone that indicates, even though the words may not be understood, a slight encouragement and even perhaps a need for haste.

Quick Update

Kate, with her arm still in the port, has managed to access security scanners of the building, the two guards have broken into a run and are not even in the adjacent room, they are by far the closest beings on sensors and from the speed of their movement would only notice something in the hanger if you accidentally let off an explosive.

The hanger is in fact deserted, nothing is moving and the only noise is that of multiple generators humming away, their sound oddly magnified by the absence of conversation. In fact the only things you can see are some common walking labor droids recharging.

And freeze!

The little droid went over to the port. The droid had seemed decently useful so far, so she hadn't questioned it, and since it was KTI, she understood that it could use the port. Stll, when it sounded the alarm, Quilia cringed. Had KTI already updated to block the droid out of the system?

"Cover me." It was the voice of the other person in the room.

Quilia was surprised. Why was the group so determined to attack? Couldn't we just walk out there and invite the guards for the ride? Or better yet, now we just look like people who got locked in a closet when the alarm sounded. Why do they have to go charging in. Hadn't Quilia just said that there was no need to kill these guys.

Still, her thoughts fell on deaf ears. The other person had charged out of the closet toward the blast doors that were still locked. Quilia hadn't even unslung her rifle. What the heck. She strolled casually out of the closet, or was about to...

Unfortunately, the moment she took a step to prepare to leave, the little droid said something. She didn't speak the language, but it could only be a warning, based on the situation. She stopped and turned to the droid.

"Blah blah blah-blah blah." <---how the droid hears it mostly likely.

Function #2: Open Doors

Meaning misinterpreted. Kate realizes with Quilia's motions. Likelihood of further misinterpretation with attempts to correct it is greater than 75%; silence is advised.
So, ignoring Quilia, Kate opens the doors in Lelian's path, and once Lelian enters the starship, Kate will open the hangar doors.

And this is when things start to go wrong

As you enter the hanger bay it's obvious the ships are here to be dismantled, the large bay has three ships in it, two A-9 Vigilance Interceptors and the one you're after, the KTI Patrol Ship. The two A-9's are party dismantled and their parts separated into piles in two of the three maintenance alcoves where the labor droids stand shut down ready to resume work, next to them the access to the smelters, where the two guards went.

Overhead walkways work round the bays edge to two control panels on either side of the bay door, you have no idea what they might control but their is a computer access port next to the bay door that the droid could use.

As you take further steps into the hanger bay the labor droids suddenly activate, they are modelled on the ASP series but they all seem to have the same modification, some how they seem smarter, their reactions are quicker as they form a line 2 deep and 3 long, two ranks of 3, they draw blaster weapons from a hidden chest compartment and the first rank fires.

Unexpected

Lelain watched as the droids suddenly came to life, filed up and then began shooting. If her big squidy eyes could have gotten any bigger they would have. She screeched to a halt before the upgraded robots.

Her left hand went up over her head instinctivly as she half ducked to avoid the shots being fired. Under her breath she exclaimed something that should never be repeated in polite company. This wasn't supposed to happen. Where was that gunner who was supposed to be covering her? One eye shifted back toward the little storage room where they had been hiding out to find the answer to that question. While the other eye roamed over the droids before her.

She pulled the gun out from her chest and began to fire shots at the nearest droids.

GET BACK HERE!

If it hadn't been for the fact that she had worked with Kate for some time, Quilia might have shot the droid dead right there. It talks to her, and then the droids out in the hangar activate and attack. It truly looked like an attempt to foil the operation. Still, Quilia knew better.

**first round actions**
"Get your *** back in here!" She shouted at Lelain as she drew her rifle. She then took a shot at the most agressive-looking droid. There was no time for this crap.

Defensive Actions Advised

Kate quickly assesses the situation, then modifies the simulation of what she had previously thought out. Clearly time couldn't be wasted, and so while she assesses the situation, Kate also opens the hangar doors right then rather than wait for later.

After opening the door, or finding out this port doesn't have access to the door, Kate disconnects from the computer port at the same time as reading her new simulation.

Primary objective will be to get to the ship within the time alloted; however, without means to communicate to the organics, there is a high probability they will remain to try to take a stand rather than advance. Kate reasons, Insufficient data regarding the opposing droids. Best course of action would be to move out; discovery is imminent regardless of advancing or falling back.
(Assuming the port by the door is the one to open it and not the one Kate is currently at)

Opening the bay doors is priority one; the action of doing so will likely spur the organics toward the best course of action.
Kate exits the 'closet' and heads to the next port as fast as her little treads can go, using what cover is available. Illogical? No. The rash action has a high probability of getting the desired results. Once again, the best and worst case scenarios have been analyzed, the probability of the desired result assessed, and in any rate it would mean Kate wouldn't be cornered in the 'closet', where she wouldn't be able to do as much.

Combat:- First Round Results, Droids Second Round

Lelain ducks one of the droids shots but gets hit on the shoulder by the second droids shot (Take 6 damage) and instinctively darts behind one of the A-9s as he, in turn, shoots one of the droids, he was aiming for one in the front row but the bolt impacts on the middle on in the second rank incapasitating it as it falls over backwards.
(Little god moving but I needed to get you out of the firing line a bit)

The third droid fires upon Quilia but misses quite spectacularly at roughly the same time as Quilia makes his shot, expertly targeting where the droids battery shutting it down.

Kate makes a 'run' for the port by the hanger blast door but finds that it will open the door but their is an impressive firewall stopping her, it might take a wile for her to find a second way in using the same port. The droids don't target her, they don't seem to recognize her as a possible threat, maybe they've been programmed not to target other droids, but surly that would be a major floor in an improved battle droid.

The droids advance forward filling the gap in the first rank as they move forming an L shaped (reflect it then turn it 90 degrees clockwise) formation, the two on the end shoot Lelain, both hitting him, one in the chest and the other on the leg. (Take 14 damage)
The other two shoot Quilia, one one brushing his right hand, it's still painful enough for him to drop his gun from shock though. (Take 9 damage)

Protocol-type medical droids? Pif, Astro's are better

Kate quickly comes to a halt. Quilla seems to have taken considerable damage, so that had best be healed ASAP. Going against her first course of action, Kate treads right back and up to Quilla as quickly as she can.

(Provided Kate has the time needed for this)

Running medical treatment v1.3 program. Kate's output spool shows for a brief second before a large number of calculations and figures replaces it. From one of her frontal compartments, a rather unique arm appears. Unlike ones manufactured by KTI or other droid companies, this one appears to be nearly made from scratch, but also with joints that allow a flexibility beyond even that of a medical type droid. At the end of the arm is a cylindrical type object with a soft cloth pad at the end of it, and parts within it can barely be heard as they rotate and assemble. After this stops, Kate quickly, but gently, presses the end of the cylinder against Quilla's body. Barely anything can be felt, from the cylinder at any rate, but as the selected components of medical compounds flow through Quilla's body, Quilla does feel strengthened by them. (Hopefully)

((Treat Injury vs DC 15, if successful heals 7 points))

Afterwards, the arm slides back into the compartment from which it came.

All Quiet on the Western Front

This has all happened so quickly. A moment ago she thought she was running into an empty hanger with the goal in site. Then suddenly things had gone bad, very bad... she thought as she looked down at her chest and saw the blood seeping out of her shirt. Around her she could tell that things were moving, there was noise, lots of noise, but she couldn't focus on any of it. All she could think of was her mothers face and after a moment even that faded to blackness.

Behind the A-9 Lelain falls to the floor. Her gun drops out of her hand and lands in a pile of blood that is quickly forming around her. Her large squid eyes close.

((Vitality = 13; after 20 damage that takes her to -6 Wound Points))

Tactics

Quilia knew tactics. The only reason she'd been hit was due to Lelain's charge. She was holding the door open for her comrade to continue. Now, Lelain was down, and the droids were advancing. There was no option left. She'd have to do the best she could to take down these droids, then attend to her fallen comrade.

She closed the door to a mere crack. It would provide a good deal of cover from the incoming fire, and allow her to fire out at her attackers.

(She'll use the partial cover and go all out --rapid shot-- on the droids until combat ends)
