Micheal Phelps Human or Fish??

Ok I don't know how many of you have been watching the Olympics but if you have not then I really have to tell you, your missing the creation of a legend and his name is Micheal Phelps.

Tonight in a 1000th of a second he won a 7th gold medal tying him with Mark Spitz. WOW I mean WOW and if things go the way they have so far he may be the first person ever to win 8 gold medals. The crazy thing is in 4 years from now considering his age he may do it all again at the 2012 Olympic games.

So to you who have or are in the process of watching the Beijing games I pose the Question above...

Micheal Phelps Human or Fish??............

Watching

I have seen all his races. Human, yes. Perfectly built swimmer, yes.

My father was built like hime wide shoulders, narror waist and hips, legs a but short for his torso, big feet and big hands. He was a great swimmer, and a lifeguard for a while.

A simple answer for your query:

He is simply a phenomenon ... a wonder. Go Michael!

Yeah well..

No steroids or anything... never... just human flesh and bone... right.
I just hope swimming doesn't become the new cycling in accordance to using doping...

Still it is indeed phenomenal... What is it now? Six gold medals and all with record times? Can't help but wonder... But I do honestly hope they'll never find anything in his blood.

Correction Raven its 7

Its 7 total Gold Medals with 6 of the 7 being record breakers. The race last night did not break the previous record. But say what you will about doping I think that Phelps is in no way connected to doing such if he was I'm sure it would have become public way before now.

Just like what most foreigners, especially the french, thought about Lance Armstrong. If your good at what you do and your an American it must be because of drugs.

Better you ask the Chinese just how old are 3 of the female gymnasts they fielded. If they are 16 then call me an A**

A**

well, it also has to do with his swim-suit. We saw something about it on msn-video.com. It's a new design that streamlines the body more, and is quite expensive. It's very possible that over the next years other countries will buy those designs and maybe even improve them. The race could be all open again.

But yes, 7 medals does reek of drug-use. It's just too freaking much for such a young dude. But you never know. Maybe it's the suit... maybe the guy already has an anatomical benefit that we don't know about. Maybe his technique is just better. It's too bad we have to wonder if sportsmen/women use drugs... that shouldn't be a question at all.

...

It's a bit unfair to taint him with drug abuse. As a swimmer one has more options to win clutches of gold medals since the various disciplines aren't that far apart. Plus if we automatically doubt every amazing feat, it tends to cheapen everything of value.

But I do find it amusing that people are casting aspersions on the Chinese given that the big drug scandals of the past few years have all been around American athletes (Marion Jones, Tim Montgomery etc). That's not to say that all Chinese athletes are clean, but that no one country can claim the moral high-ground over the issue.

Yuppah

Well Tann, I still wouldn't rule out drug abuse in Armstrong's case. But hey, that's just me. He certainly wouldn't have been the only one, eh? Still I don't really care about sports and yes, I am very cynical about these things.

Btw. do the americans have testing during the training period these days? They sure didn't earlier on and had some embarrassing moments due to it... Like Marion Jones..

Well us Finns aren't much better. Just about the only sport we're any good at - cross-country skiing - was pretty much ruined in our own WC in Lahti 2001. Six skiers were caught using HES... No surprise they were winning all the gold medals.

IMO there should be two sets of Olympic games or World Championships - one totally clean and another for dopers.

Phelps and Gymnasts

I don’t see how Phelps could be doping in any form.. he participates in a voluntary athletic program, cant remember the name of it, where they are subject to more frequent and more advanced testing for any performance enhancing drugs.

Phelps is just a perfect swimmer I think… he is phenomenal.

As for the Chinese gymnasts, the one that looks the youngest they reveal yesterday that she was interviewed last year and she was only 13, and then earlier this year in a Chinese newspaper she was featured and they said she was 14... of course the Chinese say it was an error… and of course their ages were verified by their ’Chinese’ passports.. hmmm.. makes you wonder.

Phelps

Considering how amazingly well he did four years ago, at the last Olympics, I would have been surprised if he didn't take a fistful of medals this year. Between excellent genetics and years upon upon years of dedication, he's accomplished new highs in the world of human swimming, and the fact the swims so well many people immediately think it's beyond the capacity of an unaugmented athlete speaks volumes of what he's accomplished.

The highest achievement to which a person can aspire is to be accused of achieving the impossible.

Wow

Phelps is some sort of machine, 7th at the turn in that last race and pulls out the win by 0.01 seconds...that's just phenomenal. I'm actually rooting for him over any Canadian swimmers (not that we really had high hopes of the summer game anyway...).
