I might be pushing things here, but is it at all possible for me to redo Sirene's spells? (as in change what spells she currently has memorized)
Also, if we do get some downtime ever, it might be useful if us magey types share some spells (or teach eachother some unknown magic in game terms).
Oh, and I have 7 pages of the game left to read. Almost there!

One more query: I was reading about Cynil shifting into an elephant and Haila polymorphing into a dragon !
I seem to recall, though, that in AD&D druids could only shift to creatures of bear size, and polymorph self had a similar size restriction. I think only the 9th level Shapechange would allow a dragon form for instance (beyond a tiny juvenile dragon that is) Or am I wrong?

DM rules
DM has allowed it in the past as a "house rule" type thing.

@ Ginafae
Yes as nothing has really happened yet feel free to pick new spells and get them to me within the next two weeks.
Also about the shapechanging and polymorphing like Keeper said its really a house rule that I don't set a limit on the creature size but I do enforce what type of creature a druid can change into and there are some creatures that I will not allow a mage to polymorph into.
However as none of the restricted creatures have come up so far it has not been a problem.
Also you said you had 7 pages left do you mean from the games start or when Sirene first entered the game??

Thanks for the heads up about the house rule (I'm tempted now to cast fly, turn Sirene invisible, and shift into a blue whale).
I've read all of the pages up to the time Sirene entered the game (and a handful of the first pages in the game thread, for no other reason than that I find it interesting).
I'll get a spell list to you later today, and will start working on my first post.
I do also have a query: can Sirene use any of her knowledges etc. to try and identify the critter? (druid ability to identify animals; ancient history if it's something of legend; spellcraft to deduce if it's a magical construct).

Question and answer time around the campfire
With a two week break upon us and a slowing down time at work I propose a campfire question and answer session. It seems the topic has already headed that way. I place Maggot in the hot seat, if any have a question for the crazy old wild bard ask away.
Oh and hello to our newest member to walk the realm with us.
Also I hope those of you who will be enjoying the Thanksgiving Holliday have a most joy filled few days. Those who are not bare with use crazy American's as we eat, drink, and give thanks.

Hahaha, oh. I see...
I didn't know that detect evil actually caused physical harm in this edition. I'm more familiar with 3.5, where it lets you pin point the auras and the magnitude.
In short... Well s**t. That sucks.

Wow........
Gee, that had to hurt.
It seems that once again spells can rebound.
I'd think we need to be careful casting on the creatures.
We have had success casting on objects and setting up barriers.
Now there's a meat shield down, need to get him some healing.
Wow more thought and study needed.

It's not a case of spells rebounding (that would be a harmless rebounding of detect evil). It was most likely caused by the presence of overwhelming evil (the sword?).

lights, bells, and the Roar of the crowd
Maggot steps out of the shadows and the crowd cheers. He has in his hand a microphone and in the other a small 5x7 card. In his best game show host voice, ‘Oh my! Is seems Mr. Gboy and Mr. Obyson have notice that our Master Computer, the MR-Tan 50000 does not play well with others.’ The crowd boos as the sound of the Master Computer’s name.
He then walks over and leans on the small podium that the Lady Ginafae stands behind, ‘Let us welcome out newest contestant to the Trill Game, from parts unknown the wonderful Lady Ginafae’ Maggot pauses and once more the crowd cheers for the newest player to take the stage. As the crowd noise dyes down he continues in a softer game show host voice, ‘Now we have asked 100 creatures of the dark lord’s army and the top 5 answers are on the board lets see if ‘The Sword’ is one of them… SHOW ME THE SWORD!’…

What dun, and right at the climax--or nearly-- It is good.
Welcome Ginafae/Sirene, I also send you a warm greeting and welcome.
As for Thanksgiving, for me it has been my favorite holiday. It is all about family and friends and Innmates. I will also remember to include Dragon Mistress and YeOlde though they are n longer with us except in memories. Thay are missed.

pain
I do believe that this is the first time the DM has made detect evil cause actual damage. It has caused a bit of pain before but...
Anyone else think perhaps it is as simple as Althena going and taking the sword?

Hmmmmmm........
Tis a possibility. If it is, just in case, it would make sense to have someone go with her.

It might be, but I suspect the critters will become hostile if someone does move towards the sword.

Hey are we all thinking alike
Have you been reading my notes? I put pen to paper because trying to post using this phone would give me thumb cramps. But yes I will post my thoughts on this matter tonight if lunch time permits. If not then it will be in the morning.
