yeah...

My initial thoughts were the same as yours, Ginafae. I too wished Rayne hadn't done what she did, but in all honesty that was a good post. It was very much in character and because of that I really liked it.

Of course the battle will now be much harder for us, but hey we're the heroes, aren't we? I'm sure you guys have been through much more difficult situations than this before, right?

So what's done is done and we'll need to adapt to the situation.

good post

It was indeed a very good in cahracter post. Sometimes even though as a player we would do one thing we need to keep to the character as well. Heck, all of Cor's grumbling is not because I am annoyed as a player but he as a character sure is.

Choices

NEVER. That was Rayne speaking about leaving.

It is hard sometimes to play in characterm and used information that one should not know. Brianna knew what what all of you had planned but Rayne was up on the ridge with Weaver. Rayne really couldnpt us that information to make her decision. She couldnpt take the time to come back and explain it all eith not with the situation before her. So Rayne did what Rayne would do.

Two things...

Acting as your particular character would is fine, but why not tell us how you were going to act in the Q/A? At least then we could have adjusted our own actions.

Secondly, Rayne didn't achieve anything. And if you had stated what your intentions were, someone could have pointed out that she was shooting well beyond the range of her bow etc.

Withdrawing

Sirene would never cut and run here. And, even if she were inclined to do so, she would never be able to hear any such suggestion from Cor.

Playing in Character

Yeah it's always nice to have a player stay in character. However at times that can be a bad thing but yet bad things happen in life so why not the game.

Bri you asked me the range from you to the Beholder and the Orc and I answered you on the Q/A it was over 250 yards. By Rayne attempting to shoot an arrow, even an energy arrow, that far Rayne would have known better then to try the shot and give away the element of surprise.

You could have asked me in PM or here in the Q/A if you fired would your arrow reach that far and I would have told you no. I have to be honest and say thank you for posting what you did as I had done all the rolls and had already half written the post.

Basically you all popped in using teleport right after Sirene's lightening bolt hurt the Beholder so bad 1-2 melee strikes would have killed it. After that the Orcs, though tougher then normal ones, think of the Orcs from Isengard instead of Morder. Would have been easy kills and you would have been dealing with healing the women.

Yet now I get to have funning killing you all.....

Ahh I mean..... wait.... ahh yeah I meant that .

Hah

Well every cloud has a silver lining!

Good to know that our plan would have worked if we had had the chance. Guess we'll save it for next time ... providing we don't become beholder chow that is ...

Tough Week.............

It's been a long week. Worked to 8 (12 hour days)every night getting ready for a site audit we had today. Also getting ready to go to TS16949 automotive registration so really stressed preparing for that too and now I have go to another plant to review a job that will be transfered to our plant.

Any ideas on getting past the human shields? Any spells that could make the people just collaspe to that ground so we get a clear shot?

How about a teleport to a flanking position?
Maybe come from behind?
Force wall between the woman and the beholder?
Call up a monster to attack the beholder?
Call a shadow to drain it's enery?
Call up a giant, cast enlarge on it so it's so big it can step on the beholder and smash it like a bug?

??????????????????????

Well...

Sirene is going to be hitting the beholder with Magic Missiles for the next few rounds. I was thinking of casting something to get rid of its human shields but the two spells that Sirene had memorized would either put the humans at risk of hurting eachother (Chaos), or would only last for a very short time (Tasha's Uncontrollable Hideous Laughter). The other problem is that any captives in front of its central eye would remain unaffected.

Hmmmm.........

How close are the people that make up the wall? If them aren't too close Sirene casts Summon Swarm to the area inside the human wall. It could harass the bebolder to move away from the people and then we can attack.

If we can still get close through teleport then the rest of the caster could get into range for casting. We could try invisible to get close but still try to keep out about 150 yards for the casters.

-----------------------------

If Ulthok can get close enough, he might be able to cast Phantasmal Killer and scare the beholder to death! Or cast it on the lead Orc and create some chaos.
