More Questions.....
If the Beholder is hit with Magic Missles is there any area effect that might hurt the human shield?
Does the Beholder have to see its target to hit it with the eyes spells and power?
Which direction is the Beholder facing so we know the anti magic area?
Will the wagons block the eye power of the Beholder?

Some More Thoughts......
Ok, if there isn't much area effect of the magic missles then that may be our mian attack. Sirene could hit it with 5 in the first round.
After the teleport in the second round both Ulthok and Weaver can hit it with 5 missles each from a hiding place or being invisible.
While the mages attack the Beholder then the Clerics could cast entangle to hold the Orc on the Wargs and then the archers can finish them off later. A well placed fireball in the middle of the Orc riders might work. If the Beholder is distracted enough then maybe even the Orcs out front could be held too. If the rest of the Orcs get entangled and the Beholder gets beat then move the women away and clear the Orcs with Chain Lightening. ZAP....KABOOM!!!!

New Player Soon
Ok everyone just a quick head's up. I have recruited from off the Inn a new player for Valene, her name on here is Mischief. She is an experanced 2nd Edition table top player and should fit in quite well as her favored characters are Kinder thieves so playing Valene should be no sweat. I'm not sure if she will start after my next post on Wednesday or after this battle, so please Gina continue to play her until I let you know thanks. So once she posts an introduction of herself please welcome her to the game.
Now answers
If the Beholder is hit with Magic Missles is there any area effect that might hurt the human shield?
No Magic Missiles are not considered area effect weapons
Does the Beholder have to see its target to hit it with the eyes spells and power?
Yes
Which direction is the Beholder facing so we know the anti magic area? Towards Rayne and her postion on the small hill.
Will the wagons block the eye power of the Beholder? Yes all but the Anti-Magic eye as it is considered an area effect weapon.

Good Stuff.............
Great news.........the wagons can be cover!
I'm going post Ulthok teleporting to far end of the wagons as close to the corner on the opposite side from the Beholder.
That way as the Orcs and Wargs charge the hill we be behind them. Ulthok will go to the top of the hill so Rayne can join the teleport. He'll say something like "if you're coming latch on." Then it will be up the Valene , Rayne and Althena to join him. I plan to zip in and then vanish so he can position himself on a wagon to cast 5 missles on his next turn. Vanish again and move to a new position and zap 5 more.
If the Beholder falls quicker he'll go after the Warg riders with fireball, lightening or chain lightening. That could drop a bunch.
Weaver and the fighter need to figure what they plan to do.

Ideas.
Just a thought ot two, or threee., Does anyone have a way to obscure the beholders eyes. Obscuring mist., fog, smoke, a wet blanket dropped form above.
Rayne will Join Ulthok if he van get to Her before the worgd wider do. Hoever Rayne will cast entnagle in the Worg Riders path their path to get to her as her first action to try to slow them down or hold them.

Porting.....
Weaver was going to teleport so the fighter can travel with him. I just don't know where he planned to come out. Check Kyles posts and Q&A.
Bri, I left it open so you and Ginafea could do what you wanted when we come out. I tryed to post so Ulthok was close enough to Rayne that she could teleport too. The same is for Valene and Althena.

WOW>>>>>>>>>>>>>
That went a WHOLE lot better than I ever thought it would!!!
Now round two. These are tough Orcs but they don't seem to have magic on their side.
I'd say take out the leader quick. If Ulthok can see him he'll seek revenge for feeding the child to the Beholder.
He's readied the magic missles so he'll unleash them on the Big Orc.
When we get the map then we can better gage the next attack.
The Orcs are split so thats good. Without trapping Cor we can entangle riders aqnd isolate them.
That would allow the rest of us to defend the women and children and handle the Orcs around the wagons.
There can be a lot of hand to hand so Lothor should have a good time.

Haha
Been away for a few days, so I only got to read the posts just now. You've got to laugh! Who would have thought the wet blanket idea would actually work?
Now that the beholder is down and the villagers are not in immediate danger, Sirene is going to fireball the group of 20 orcs that charges past Cor. Would she be able to hit them all Tann?
Given that the orc leader has been turned to stone, I was thinking that we could bring him with us after the battle, cast a stone to flesh on him, and interrogate him for intelligence. We might need Ayreon to look away during the 'interrogation' of course ...
Finally, I'm glad another player has been found for Valene. I'm happy to post for her until Mischief is ready to take over.

More thoughts............
I'm going with that the women and children are just making a mad dash up past the wagon Ulthok is in and beating feet to get away from the battle.
Ulthok seeing the Beholder beaten and the Orc leader turned to stone he'll change his focus. There seem to be about three wargs close and rushing Lothor and Althena but the remainder are charging toward them too. So Ulthok will switch to attack the wargs with Chain Lightening. It will arc to 12 of the wargs as they charge.
This spell creates an electrical discharge that begins as a single stroke of lightning, 2_
feet wide, commencing from the fingertips of the caster. Unlike a lightning bolt spell, chain lightning strikes one object or creature initially, then arcs to a series of other objects or creatures within range, losing energy with each jump.
The bolt initially inflicts 1d6 points of damage per level of the caster, to a maximum of 12d6 (half damage if the object or creature rolls a successful saving throw vs. spell).
After the first strike, the lightning arcs to the next nearest object or creature. Each jump reduces the strength of the lightning by 1d6. Each creature or magical object hit receives a saving throw vs. spell. Success on this save indicates the creature suffers only half damage from the bolt.
The chain can strike as many times (including the first object or creature) as the spellcaster has levels, although each creature or object can be struck only once. Thus, a
bolt cast by a 12th-level wizard can strike up to 12 times, causing less damage with each strike.
So that should kill a few and hurt a few to give Lothor the chance to defend Althena.
If Rayne can attack an Orc then Valene might be able to cast entangle down by the eight wargs on her side toward the end wagon to slow them and the Orcs. She could dive under the wagon to avoid an attack from a big Orc then next round sneak out to backstab them nasty Orces.
As the Orcs figure out the entrapping area they will move out around the trap which puts them in position out away from the wagon and party so Sirene could fire bomb them.
I think the warg rider may be too far away and out of range. Fireball range is 10yds + 10yds per level. Tann would have to determine the distance.
Weavers choice to weapon or spell attack. The fighter just go hack-n-slash.
Does anyone have a ring of free action? They could wade into the entange and hack up the trapped creatures.
Ok just some food for thought.
